This is like the best book I have ever read!!! I was reading this and couldn’t stop. I had to drag myself out of bed to do stuff.
The story has thrills that have you on the edge of your seat and romance!!! 💘 I was so sad when the book ended and had a cliffhanger!!!!
And the cover is amazing! 🤩 like when I first got it I was obsessed with the cover. It shows exactly how the story plot and is and not at the same time! I love it!!! 🥰
I would definitely recommend this book for 10- to maybe 16. Depending on their reading level. It will teach your kids about the love of God and how to trust and have faith in him no matter what.
I can’t wait for the second book. I will be waiting and the second it comes out, I am buying it!!!!!

Heart of a Bowman swept me away from the very first page. The world Jil Koller has created is breathtaking; richly layered, imaginative, and full of heart. It’s adventure, faith, and courage beautifully woven together, with characters you can’t help but root for. Colt and Tess have that rare kind of chemistry that makes you both smile and ache, and the story’s themes of truth, honor, and self-sacrifice feel so refreshingly countercultural in the best way.
It’s one of those reads that reminds you why clean, faith-driven fiction still has a powerful place in today’s world: no language, no spice, and yet deeply romantic and full of tension. Perfect for teens and adults alike who love meaningful fantasy and strong moral storytelling. I closed the book already counting the days until book two!

Received as an ARC reviewer: I really enjoyed Jil Kohler’s debut novel. It was so adventurous and fun to read! I enjoyed seeing how Tess, Colt and Deacon developed their relationship throughout the story. The characters remained true to themselves. I am so looking forward to seeing what is next in their adventures!

Jil Koller masterfully creates a world and an epic adventure that kept me wondering how it would turn out.
Tess and Colt's chance meeting in a marketplace turns into a bond forged through trials and danger when the royal gathering they are attending is attacked by invaders. As the only ones who were outside, it's their job to put their love and devotion of their land and people to the test to warn the tier's king and get aid. Colt's Bowman code is paramount to him, causing him to constantly deny the growing feelings he has for her.
Meeting up with his childhood friend, Deacon, takes the adventure to the high seas and air as the threat against the kingdom is bigger and of a nature that no one thought possible. Tess proves her skill with a bow, bravery despite clear danger, and dedication to their ancient religion time and again.
I was caught up in the adventure and quest to save the tier. The world building was clear and unique, including the trade elements and truth stars. Colt and Deacon were crafted so well as foils of each other to demonstrate qualities needed in the kingdom as well as those that Tess needs in support. Tess' desperation to do something for the kingdom and not be a political ornament or pawn was inspiring and fleshed out well. I desperately wanted Colt to be honest about his feelings and stop hiding his emotions and love behind the code. I guess I need to wait for the next book.

What an amazing writer! God has gifted Jil in a special way! I read a lot of Christian suspense/romance books, but this is the first time I’ve read a “fantasy” book and in my humble opinion, Jil is right up there with some of the best! I was on the edge of my seat the whole book through to the end! Such depth of characters, and such intrigue and the story line is exciting and fantastic and complicated and daring! I can’t wait for the Heart of a Spy and the Heart of a Warrior to come out so I can purchase them too!

My daughter gave me this book for Christmas and wanted my opinion of it. I began reading on Saturday night thinking that I would get a feel for the setting of the story and go from there. I struggled at first with the complex relationships and intentional misdirections in the first few scenes but once the stage had been set the plot flowed at an exciting pace. So much so that i finished the story the next day, despite an already full schedule!
All of the characters, even seemingly minor ones were well-developed and believable. We saw both strengths and flaws in each person and we were given glimpses into how each of our main characters dealt with the good and bad aspects of their relationships.
Even though the story is set in a fantasy world the decisions and struggles that the characters face are easy to reconcile with my own life and the decisions I must make on a daily basis.
I look forward to the next book to continue this saga.

This book checked all the boxes for me.
The romance was my favourite kind..not cringey or unrealistic. It was the kind of romance book I’m not worried about my kids picking up from the coffee table, if you know what I mean. Clean, but swoon worthy at the same time.
The back and forth between perspectives of three different characters also kept my interest throughout, and I think it appeals to both male and female readers for that reason.
There were whimsical elements like ships that don’t seem like they could possibly fly, an emerald that helps the characters make vital decisions, and ‘dragon-like’ creatures! I also found myself describing this incredible idea of a ‘vertical universe’ to friends as I read it! How it operates and how the pirates have to raid by moving up and down in space rather than across an ocean. Such a fun concept!
Now that I’ve read it, I have decided it’s a book I am confident my children ages 13, 11, and 9 will love as a read-aloud, because it’s also packed with action and an epic battle. For sure the older two would enjoy reading independently as well.

Heart of a Bowman is a wonderful and exciting adventure. I loved how romance, fantasy, comedy and thrill all take place in this story. The characters are unique and complex with great backstories that make the reader want to know more about them all. Their personalities come through so clearly in their decision making and comedic interactions. I can picture them all as they challenge each other and grow in their individual attributes throughout the plot. The romance is fun, clean and witty; a rare jewel in many of the books I’ve come across. I love the setting Jil has created with kingdoms, war battles, economics and trade at play. The strong values of truth, integrity and chivalry are depicted throughout the story. I would highly recommend this book to those who love rich stories that leave the reader feeling encouraged, inspired and like they can’t wait to read the next book!

Heart of A Bowman is Christian fantasy retelling which stays true to its nature. I for one really enjoyed this book because it was able to 'stand out' with its content compared to other fantasy stories. This book is the first in a series so I am looking forward to seeing how the other books turn out from here!

However, Tess and Colt soon finds themselves on a journey to help save the Kingdom. They are later joined by Deacon who is an old friend of Colts. The joirney is long and tiring and they will all need to keep up their goals for the mission. Overall this was an exciting story and I am glad I got the chance to read it.

It was such a fun & intriguing read! I appreciate the descriptive details that paint vivid portraits in one's imagination. I can't wait to see how the rest of the trilogy unfolds! It's going to be tough waiting for the release of the next 2 books! My daughter was immediately hooked and is speeding through this book, as she does with riveting stories that grab her attention. Who doesn't love a good tale of adventure with genuine characters, good lessons, and an underlying mystery?

The first scene of Jil Koller’s Heart of a Bowman engaged me and kept me reading. I enjoyed the story world and intrigue. The author has created such a different story world, a map would be helpful. I like the subtle hints of the story world’s spiritual nature. Those who enjoy series will appreciate the strong draw to anticipate book two. I look forward to reading the next book and revisiting the characters and their story.

Heart of a Bowman by Jil Koller was a great book as a first in the series. I really enjoyed reading this book. It has a lot of adventure, a good bit of action and a hint of romance. The gospel is definitely present in the many mentions of faith in this book.
Captain Colt Hawthorne is the main male character in this book. He is one of the King’s elite bowmen who has put everything into his training to be the best of the best. His faith is shaky, he believes in a higher power, but he is just not sure that who everyone else thinks it is, is Him.
Princess Artess is a Princess of Ardenia she wishes she could leave the life of royalty behind and become one of the elite bowmen, but she is a Princess, and she is a girl. There are no women among the king’s elite bowmen. When an invasion happens as she is attending an event, she and Captain Hawthorne will have to get help as they escape skyward as their world is made up of different tiers.
Along the way Colt and Tess will begin to see things a little differently. Things may not be as they appear. They have one destination in mind, but then Colt realizes he cannot go to the king based on the bare information he has about what is going on. Colt decides he is going to enlist help from his childhood friend Deacon. Colt would take Tess to safety, but she insists on continuing the journey. Colt and Tess will be tested on this journey, individually and as a team while both holding onto secrets.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book; it was a fun read. There was just the right amount of humor and seriousness. The world building was great too, especially the pictures of the tiers of nations.

"Heart of a Bowman" had me on the edge of my seat from page one til the last. Jil Koller has quickly become one of my favorite authors!! "Heart Of A Bowman" is nothing short of a masterpiece that is clean and faith filled. A romantic story, that includes two individuals (Tess and Colt) that make it impossible to put down.

Adventure, romance, flying ships, battles and a bomb dropped at the end leaving you dying to read more. This book is fantastic. The world and characters came to life beautifully through Jil’s natural writing ability, creating a magical world. Looking forward to reading more of Jil’s writing, and eagerly awaiting the next book!

Heart of a Bowman is such a heartfelt and inspiring read. I loved how the story pulls you in right from the beginning and keeps you turning pages. The characters feel real, and the message about faith, strength, and perseverance really stood out to me. It’s the kind of book that stays on your heart even after you finish it. Definitely worth the read

This is a fantastic novel. The story building is phenomenal, the characters have real depth, and it’s written at a level and in a manner that the entire family can enjoy. Cover to cover worth the read. I cannot wait for the second part in the series.

Couldn't stop turning pages from the time the Amazon guy dropped this on our porch! I fell in love with the characters in the first five pages. The struggles of their quest were inspiring. I'd love to see this story on the big screen! Highly recommend!

This book is not my usual type of read, but once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I found myself completely lost in the story, and the pages turned quickly in anticipation of what was going to happen next. I love the characters of Tess, Colt, and Deacon. Jil had me so invested in them with her imagination and storytelling. I can't wait to continue their story in book two!
