Rate this book
Monster meets nihilist.
She wants death, he needs purpose, the rest is… complicated.

Zoey’s last attempt to find reasons for living almost failed.

Her uncanny knack for noticing details and nihilistic attitude kept getting her in trouble, and the treatment from the staff of the psychiatric facility was not helping her faith in humanity. Until she finds herself across from a mysterious stranger whose behavior towards her contradicts everything she knows.

Ronan surrendered his freedom to protect The Village of those like him.

For twenty years he hid what he is, enduring abuse and loneliness while his inner nature threatened to break him from the inside out. Despite feeling doomed to this fate, when he collides with Zoey three times in three days, he believes her to be a gift from his Goddess. Making her a risk he must take.

With newfound purpose and a promise made, Ronan sets out to get them out of the facility and convince Zoey not to take her own life. But outside unseen strings are pulled with the intent to use corruption and law to break them both. As the past catches up to Ronan, they are forced to fight in more ways than one.

Will their bond be enough to weather the storm, or will all they build be ruined by the treachery of those who cannot let the past go?

--REASONS FOUND IN PROMISES is an urban fantasy romance with elements of mystery and legal drama. This is the first in a series of connected standalones, featuring explicit open-door scenes and exploration of themes such as healing, morality, and reasons for living. HEA is guaranteed.

About the author

Hello! My name is Artiranth and I am Romance Author by night, an anti-social gremlin by day. Primarily I focus on the fantasy and paranormal subgenres, l but you might see me dip into others from time to time

All of my books have a juicy HEA, but that doesn't mean the way they get there is routine. If I had a tag I would put on all my works it would be "Porn with way too much plot." So expect high emotional stakes, mystery, complex character arcs and plots, all served with a hefty dose of fluffy romance and hot spice.

I adored this book, The author has seamlessly written this book, it starts in a mental health facility with Ronan a long term patient who is there for externally violent crimes. Except Ronan isn't exactly what he seems he has a secret… he's mostly silent doesn't interact with other patients only occasionally with staff. Right up until he meets Zoey, a voluntary patient who's dealing with suicidal ideation, really Ronan and Zoey instantly connect, Ronan protects Zoe regardless of weather it will get him in trouble, he wants to give her reasons to live. Both Ronan and Zoey begrudgingly trust their psychiatrist who has helped keep them together, protected them time and time again. When Ronan gets released after help from his psych Tomas Ashwood, who has agreed to be his live in psych, Zoe is also released. That's when the fun starts. Ronan is actually a a creature from an urban legend. He shows Zoe his true form. She meets his people, they start to build a life but every time they start to move forward someone or something is forcing them apart, using the law, corruption, grudges. Can they get past that? Can Zoe find her way to live?

I feel I haven't described this book enough but I'm not sure how without giving the plot away what I can say is the author has used some amazing world building skills in this book. The characters are both relatable and loveable I felll in love with both the main characters but also the side characters. Even some of the "villains" are understandable. It gets your mind thinking.

I loved it and I hope there's more because I'd love to read about the side characters journeys I recieved a free arc copy of this book and am choosing to do a review

This is the first time I have read this type of novel, and I can say I was pleasantly surprised. It has inspired me to look for similar books in this genre.

Needless to say, Reasons Found in Promises hooked me from the first chapter and didn’t let go. Zoey and Ronan are unforgettable—two broken souls whose chemistry crackles while the story digs into trauma, resilience, and the messy hope of choosing to live. The cryptfolk lore feels fresh and smart, and the legal/forensic angle adds real stakes without slowing the pace. It’s romantic, mysterious, and unexpectedly tender, with open-door spice that serves the story. If you like this type of urban fantasy that has heart, and teeth, and mystery, this one delivers.

Reasons Found In Promises is the perfect mix of cryptid folklore and real-world human legalities and complexities. It offers a deeper insight into mental health issues, trauma, hurt and heartbreak which is all perfectly accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful but tragic love story between Zoey and Ronan, two mental-health patients stuck in a mental hospital that begin to desperately cling to each other as they navigate a world almost desperately trying to force them apart.
The legalities they face in the book adds great context to the overall story and I felt really frustrated at times being torn between both worlds, the world of the cryptfolk and the world of the humans. The world-building was enchanting but simple and I was really drawn into this story from start to finish. The plot was perfectly paced and there was always something happening or being built up towards that left me coming back for more.

I had the opportunity to work with the author and read this book! It was a wonderful experience. The book was very fun to read and by the time I knew it I had already read half the book! The main characters are entertaining and fun to read about. Their experiences are relatable, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a bingeworthy novel!

This was quite interesting and a fun read. The plot was incredible and I loved the characters. The mc's faced at much hardship to begin with and through out the story but in the end will you'll have to find that out for yourself
