I always knew the holidays could be magical, but I never expected it to bring romance into my life...
As the mischievous pixie of The Dragonne Library, becoming the Solstice Keeper was supposed to be straightforward. But amidst the festive magic, I find myself caught in an unexpected whirlwind of passion and enchantment.
There's the steadfast Callen, whose self-control is as impressive as it is tempting. The easy banter with longtime friend Jarek, filled with warmth and teasing laughter. Yet behind their playful façades lies genuine desire and deep affection.
They each offer something different—joy, passion, and unexpected sparks. This Solstice, the Library's magic seems determined to play matchmaker.
But as the festival's enchantments weave around us, a fear lingers. What if opening my heart means losing my freedom?
✨ A heartwarming and steamy fantasy romance novella featuring Pippa, set in the world of The Dragonne Library, with special cameos from the main series cast.
First off, this world is awesome! I love Tess and the guys and the dragons and the library. Pippa has always been a fave and I always wondered how she could be the way she is. Seeing things through her viewpoint was eye opening. Her job of restoring manuscripts at the library is something that I have done a few times. It is time consuming but it also brings a big feeling of accomplishment. Pippa wears a mask most of the time around people, even Tess who is her bestie. Pippa doesn’t want to ever feel vulnerable again. It just causes problems. I don’t want to give too much away. With the Holiday coming, there will be the Keeper of the Flame and she tells Tess about it, since Tess is human. One day, she literally slams into a hot, nerdy guy, and she just loves to poke at any authority. Callen is doing research on a Solstice ritual and he asks her for some help in finding sources. He is a very law and order type. The role of Keeper of the Flame shocked me and then it didn’t once I thought about it. lol. Especially since someone Pippa grew up with was there, Jarek. Holy hot dragon rider. (Seriously) lol. Learning about their past and his dragon Caelith was awesome. I loved it. But, Pippa is drawn to both men. Seeing Tess and her guys from Pippa’s point of view, was fun and funny. Jarek as a fox shifter, is playful and a bit crazy. I loved what each of the guys can do and bring to the table. I was rooting for them both. Pippa is adorable as she handles everything and also very frustrating for all involved, including the reader (lol). Seeing what the Solstice means and does was just beautiful and the description of it all brought tears to my eyes. I loved this book and I want more!
I received an advance copy and am leaving a review.
Pippa is Arcane Conservator of the Dragonne Library, and is also a pixie. Her main job is to restore manuscripts containing ancient knowledge. And cause a little fun and mischief, because, pixie. She has a run-in with a very serious, and very hot, mage named Callen, who is researching a unique Solstice ritual. He ruffles her feathers, and she does the same to him. But she doesn’t have time for anything serious, or so she convinces herself.
Solstice is approaching—think of it as Christmas with a lot of the same traditions, but with magical fire and ancient rituals. Every year, a Keeper of Solstice is chosen, and all are waiting to see who will be chosen. The Grand Luminary, the ancient dragon Moriyana, announces that Pippa will be the Keeper.
She’s elated, and stressed out, because there is so much more churning beneath the skin of our favorite pixie, though she tries to bury it all under chaos and mischief. Add to the equation the arrival of her childhood friend, Jarek, who is now a dragon rider, and you have a recipe that could either create beautiful magic, or chaotic destruction.
This is a why choose romance, but if you’ve been reading any of the Dragonne Library books, you’re already prepared for that. I really enjoyed this novella about Pippa finding unexpected love with two men who are vastly different from each other, but both committed to her. There is no jealousy, no preferential treatment, just the truest love that these three discover. It fits nicely into the Dragonne Library world, and is also a nice breather in the very small amount of time between crises. So cuddle up under your blanket and have fun with this story.
❄️friends to lovers ❄️MFM ❄️cozy vibes ❄️slow burn ❄️low angst
This novella was a cute and cozy addition to the Dragonne Library series! I enjoyed the brief moments we saw of previous characters.
Pippa grows so much throughout the book, and it was really adorable getting to see her open herself to the possibility of love. I think Jarek and Callen are perfect for her. I really appreciated that there was no jealousy or fighting for her attention between them. They just immediately began working together to make Pippa theirs.
This is a really low angst read, in my opinion, and very cozy. Nice for a quick little read for the upcoming winter season. I can’t wait to see them again in the future!
I did receive an advance copy, and this is my honest review.
Mischievous pixie Pippa is the Arcane Conservator of the Dragonne Library. She is chosen to be the Solstice Keeper, and she does not take the honor lightly. This is when readers meet researcher Callen and Pippa's old friend Jarek. Both men certainly bring the heat to Pippa and the banter between them all is adorable! With this being a short holiday read, it is perfect for this time of year! I really loved being able to get a peek into what is going on with a character introduced in the larger Dragonne Library world! I hope you thoroughly enjoy this read!
What an incredible holiday edition to The Dragonne Library series by Emma Moon. I couldn't put the book down. The fantastic and captivating holiday world building is brilliant and vivid. The three MC's Pippa, Jarek and Callen are all really well written and their distinct personalities played well together. This novel/la is fun and steamy. And so so good. I absolutely love this edition and highly recommend it!
I devoured this book fast. I am so glad that Pippa got her happily ever after. She is o e of my favorites for Tess. I loved seeing Tess happy. I'm also glad that it didn't spoil anything. I am assuming this is after the trials so I'm glad to see her laughing Herr and the teasing of Draven. Though there was a stark absence if her shadow dragon and the one who betrayed them. In any case, this was super cute and I love Puppa's men. Do happy for her.
Pippa's Story This was such a sweet and refreshing read! There was bits of humor, lots of feels, and some spice. Most importantly, it was growth for Pippa and learning the truth about love.
"We don't want to take your fire Pippa. We want to be warmed by it" ....Callen
Jarek and Callen were perfect for Pippa. I'm so glad they find their happy ending together!
What a great quick read, this is part of the Dragonne Library series as a novella. Having a job to make sure Solstice goes to plan is made more difficult when there is Callen nothing can go easily and smooth. Love piper as a character and glad I got to follow her on an adventure. Would recommend.
I read this book in one sitting. I love the story as I always have loved Pippa and her chaos and fun and spirit. She was the perfect person for solstice without giving any spoilers. It was great to see her coming to her own.
Dear reader, I advised you to read this story as soon as possible
Winter Flame is a novella in the Dragonne Library series but this book follows Pixie - Piper as she's given an important job as a Solstice Keeper. A job to make sure the Solstice runs smoothly but the complications of a playful Fox Dragon Rider - Jarek and a grumpy Mage - Callen seem to throw a spanner in the works. I loved Piper even with her back history she was so upbeat and funny especially when she was bantering with the guys. I also loved the pop up of characters from the Dragonne Library like Tess who was Piper's friend. A great read with characters I really liked.
