One phone call can change everything…

Kristen Riley has a tough exterior and an elastic heart, forged from the abandonment of her father at a young age. She’s always held her cards close to her chest, never allowing anyone to get too close.

Except for Alex Henley – the boy, who at sixteen was a fun-loving prankster that never took life too seriously, and as a man, hides the deep-seated fear that he will never be enough behind a veil of nonchalance.

Despite their reluctance to dive head-first into a fully committed relationship, they’ve always known they were endgame and when Kristen notices a quiet change in Henley’s character, an understated attentiveness and maturity, she opens up to the possibility of a future with him.

Then without warning, Henley does the one thing she can never forgive him for. He leaves.

Six months later, Henley arrives back in Cliff Haven, the seaside town they’ve always called home, with a mysterious blonde in tow. But the man that returns is a far cry from the one Kristen once knew, his easy-going nature and cheerful disposition supressed by a constant storm cloud hovering above his head.

Kristen is furious, determined to leave Henley in the past, but she can’t deny that her heart still belongs to him. She wants answers that he isn’t ready to provide.

Why did Henley leave the life they were building behind? Who is the enigmatic blonde woman that doesn’t leave his side?

And does she know more than she’s letting on?

Told from dual POVs, Versions of Us is a wholesome story of second chance love and finding hope in the darkest of places.

ARC REVIEW
Thank you Eve Blakely for the wonderful opportunity to read this book!

What a beautiful story! I finished it this morning, and had to take a few hours to process my thoughts. This whirlwind of a tale follows Henley and Kristen. Their long term back and forth relationship, and the love they hold for one another. Their road was anything but easy, but they found their way back to one another once again.
I had a hard time setting this book down, because I just needed to know what was going to happen next. The mental health representation was done so well! And I will be recommending this book to everyone who will listen. And that epilogue was simply perfect!

I’m not sure if I have adequate words to explain what this book meant to me.

The way Eve has written ‘Versions Of Us’ has me in tears. I don’t think I’ve cried so much from a book ever! Good tears, sad tears, relieved tears… all of the tears.

I devoured this book in a day. And if you read it.. you will too!

This book follows the journey of Kristen & Alex as they find their way back to each other after a devastating parting. Lost love, second chance love, tragedy. This book has everything. You won’t regret giving this book a read!

Such a beautiful and emotional story. This book very quickly had me glued, and was quite a change from all the light-hearted romances I have read recently. This book is deep, raw and gritty and certainly has you feeling all the feels! I adored it!

" There are two things I know for sure. One is that I love Kristen. The other is that I've taken her for granted for way too long."

Versions of us is one beautifully written book, Eve Blakely knows how to write an emotional read. This book kept me captivated the entire time, and I was itching to pick it up as soon as I put it down ( I did have to finish this at 1am)

I can't not love you,K. Not even if I try."
Words said before disaster. Alex comes back to town 6 months after basically ghosting Kristen with a secret that's not his to tell. The trials that Alex and Kristen go throughout the book shows the tremendous character growth for both of them. I loved that this was dual POV as I felt like it was needed to get the entire story of what went down during those 6 months.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an open and honest review

A tall & broody man, a hopeless romantic and a mysterious 6 month disappearance…this book has it all! I highly recommend it for anyone considering diving into the Cliff Haven series!

**possible spoilers ahead**

Henley is the most furiously frustrating, extremely lovable male lead in this book and will capture your heart just as soon as he breaks it. I’ve never hated to love a character more in my life but what he did for Mackenzie…absolutely angelic. I found myself taking a cry break right before the climax because of his sweetness.

i loved returning to the little small seaside town of cliff haven and getting immersed in this story. eve has such a beautiful way of writing and i get completely lost in her story telling.

i was so excited to be able to jump into henley(alex) and kristen’s story after meeting them in versions of us. they were clearly made for each other, but then they’re inexplicably torn apart. this book is so hard to review without giving spoilers!! once alex returns, this multilayered story unfolds in such a way that you can’t stop reading. i just had to know what could have possibly caused alex to just up and disappear! i also loved the sweet, slow burn of alex and kristen overcoming insurmountable odds and finding their way back to each other. new characters are introduced, a beautiful wedding is planned, and the set up for book three has me so excited to see where this series is going.

I will start off by saying …. I think I found a new series !! This was a quick and easy read. The story just flowed so beautifully and kept me intrigued from beginning to end. I’m not going to lie I want more of Kristen & Henley and hope to see more of them in the 3rd book. Their love for each other is so touching, it had me feeling for both of them deeply. Kristin is so relatable & Henley just had my heart aching. I wanted to jump through the pages and give him the biggest hug. Overall such a wholesome read and I want more !!

Ps. that cover though ??? 🫶🏼

4.5, rounding up to 5!

This book was an emotional wreck from beginning to end. And I'm really meaning that I'm the emotional wreck from this book.

I'm a sucker for second chance romances. This one started off a bit different than other second chance romances. I was really not sure where it was going, and it kept me guessing the twist.

I love how different Eve Blakely did the second chance romance trope. But why did you have to break my heart so many times?!

I'm excited about book 3, when that releases!

Where do I even begin?! I was lucky enough to have been selected for the ARC team.
This second chance, small town romance had me in a mix of emotions and I absolutely loved it. The relationship between Henley & Kristen was beautiful & the secrets, the mystery, it definitely had me guessing the whole time.

I loved this book! This is the first book I've read electronically and let me tell you, it was so hard for me to not pick my phone up at work to continue reading!!!

I loved how scenes and descriptions didn't drag on! It was simple, to the point but just enough to let you picture the scene and characters.

I really loved the characters! Strong female main characters, yes please! I wanted to be friends with Kristen, and Henley, ooooft, those grey trackpants. Gimme gimme.

I love short chapters and with this book having short chapters, it made me keep reading! I had to know how everything unfolded!
And *that* scene was absolutely brilliant, I was shocked and had to know how it ended! And let me just say that ending, 😭 had me right in the feels.

The one thing I know & love about Eve Blakely, is that she knows how to make her characters extremely relatable. On a deep level I should say.

This series is so much more than just romance or the tropes within the book. It has the potential to make you wonder what other people in your own life think & feel. (Me being an observing introvert. People watching is daily lol.) Most things that people go through can in fact be silent. Or just blind to the fact.

The mental health representation is written so beautifully. It creates a deeper insight of the characters, which I love. 🫶🏻

In the previous book, you see from other characters perspectives that Henley is this fun, laid back, can’t take anything serious party goer. Some might say he’s lazy or a bludger. But in this book you see so much more of him. I’m glad Eve wrote his character the way she did, because you come to truely love & care for Henley by the end. I know I did :)

I relate to Kristens character so much. She wants to help as many people as possible but she knows she can’t spread herself too thin & that hurts. It’s almost bittersweet.

And don’t forget the plot twist. Omg!

I know some people don’t love Second Chance Romances. Understandable. But give this one a chance. 🥹❤️

"I've carried him with me ever since, a part of me almost certain that despite the many twists and turns we've taken, that no matter where are lives lead us, at some point we'll find our way back to each other. That even if we get lost somewhere along the way, we're destined to be found."

'Versions of Us' is a book about how Kristen and Alex find find their way back to each other after Alex suddenly ups and leaves Kristen without any explanation. Six months later, Alex is back in the small town with the people he abandoned, but he's not alone. He comes back with a woman and he's acting different. This version of him, Kristen doesn't recognize. This book tells a story about second chances and continuing to have hope even in the darkest of times. I enjoyed the story line, I cried, I laughed..I liked that the topic of mental health was touched on with the characters, especially Alex's character since it's so taboo to society when men struggle with their mental health. It was beautifully written. One thing I did struggle with was the miscommunication trope (because it's not my favorite trope but it does make sense when you get to the twist) and that the twist took a little longer to get to. But it was still an enjoyable read!

Thank you to Eve Blakely for this ARC in exchange for an honest review✨ be sure to check it out November 29th🫶🏼

Such a good read!
I really struggled to put this down because of the suspense! I just needed to know what happened! And what happened, I was not expecting!

I truly enjoyed this so much. The characters were so relatable, Kristen was so fierce and lovely but has a deep rooted fear of abandonment so when Alex leaves unexpectedly and returns six months later with no explanation she gives him the the hell he deserves although still painfully in love.
So I started off liking Alex, then really disliking Alex and then feeling sorry for him and loving him. There is no doubting his love for Kristen and when you find out what happened you just want to give him a huge hug and tell him ‘you are worthy of so much greatness in life’ 🥺

This book was so beautifully written and takes you on abit of an emotional journey facing love and loss and how life can change in the blink of an eye 💜

the mental health and PTSD representation was thoughtfully and gracefully portrayed throughout the entire book. It was perfectly explained with carefulness and compassion. I really enjoyed that aspect of this! It was a bit of a slow burn (for me) but when you find out why henley left and who Mackenzie is, it makes it worth the read. Once I got to a certain point - I could NOT put it down! I do wish there was more to the end, as I felt it abruptly ended and we didn’t get to see much into the lives of henley and Kristen afterwards but such is life! I am very excited to read the next story and find out more about Mackenzie and Dylan!

“Careful, Alex,” I whisper. “It sounds like you still love me.” ☕️

“I can’t not love you.” 🥃

Let take a second to piece my heart back together! This book was so well written and the relationship between Henley and Kristen was so beautiful! I hated Henley when he left Kristen and I was all for her to tear into him when he came back but then to see what he was going through I just wanted her to hug him! I can’t say too much without giving away spoilers and I want everyone to read this book immediately! But the plot twist and everything that happens towards the end is soo good!! I literally stopped breathing at parts of this book bc of how in shock I was! I highly recommend this book! And I can’t wait to read Mackenzie and Dylan’s story in The Versions You Hide! 💚🫶🏻

Thank you Eve Blakely for this ARC of Versions of Us. 🤍

This is my first book by this author, absolutely not going to be my last. I love reading books by new to me authors. The beautiful cover is what drew me to this book. Versions of Us is book 2 in the Cliff Haven series. I am definitely reading book 1, The Other Version, asap.

Versions of Us follows the twisty journey of Alex and Kristin. It’s told in dual POV which I love. Alex and Kristin are end game, soulmates, meant to be. That is, up until he disappears. He calls Kristin to advise he’s never coming back and she should move on. After months of nursing her broken heart, Alex resurfaces back in Cliff Haven, but he isn’t alone. When Kristin sees him back in town w a new girl beside him, it only creates more questions in her mind and she’s determined to get answers.

If you enjoy lovers to enemies to lovers in a small town romance trope, grab this book when it releases 11/29/23. This gives you plenty of time to read The Other Version first. 🎉

I was immediately hooked when I read the blurb for this one.

Read this if you love:
• mental health representation
• small town vibes
• secrets & betrayals
• lovers - enemies - lovers
• dual POV
• soulmates
• strong female characters

As soon as I started reading it I knew I couldn’t put it down until I knew everything. All the secrets, the why’s… had me hooked the whole way through.

Kristen is such a relatable character & honestly so sweet. Henley is hard to understand at first but once you do and get over the anger of him leaving and showing back up with a mystery woman, and really get down to the why… man. That’s all I’ll say just you have to read it for yourself, trust me.
Also I LOVE when a book is so honest about mental health & how not only women deal w this but men too. Big kudos for that and so well written.

I promise this one won’t let you down.

What an emotional read!

I really loved the writing, and the way this story flowed. Eve kept me captivated the entire time, and one of the things I loved most was how quickly the story moved along, yet nothing felt rushed. This is a completely clean romance, so with no smut, there has to be strong plot and this absolutely had that! The MMC and FMC were super likeable as well.

The only thing I didn't like was the secret in the story... i was so mad at the MMC for finding himself in that situation like sir... please. But other than that the story itself was good and I would absolutely read more from Eve!

I have two quotes highlighted from this book to show anyone exactly why they should read it -
"You can be anywhere when your world caves in. When it's changed forever in an instant. Your darkest moment could come in the brightest of places, a brilliant summer's day underneath the bluest of skies."
Followed by -
"You can be anywhere when your life begins. The back porch of a house on a creek, a coffee cup in one hand, the love of your life's palm in the other. You can be hopeful that your darkest days are far behind you. Always thankful. In love with every minute of your life."

I loved this story told from the dual POV between Kristen and Alex (aka Henley). A story of love and loss and the curve balls that life can throw at you at any moment. This book will make you go between happy and sad to worried and tense and it's so worth it.

Thank you so much to Eve for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review. I'm very much looking forward to the next instalment in the Cliff Haven series.

*THIS IS A 4.5 STAR RATING*

I watch her walk down the hall and back out to the waiting room with Officer Greenberg, then I retreat back to Henley's room. I slump down in the chair and grasp his hand again.
I definitely feel it this time, a twitching of his fingers in mine. I'm certain of it. I look up in time to see his head shift slightly in my direction. His eyelids flutter fleetingly before partially opening, revealing crystal blue irises.
My breath hitches in my throat as I watch his Adam's apple bob as he swallows.
"It's you and me," he rasps. "Forever."

OOOOOOOF. Another one!!!! I think the mystery and tension behind this story made me like it more than The Other Version - but both were hits in there own way!! Focusing on Kristen and Henley, this is a second chance romance with ever the mystery behind it. A girl focused on her study in psychology, a boy a bit lost but driven to support the people he loves. Together - a unit. Definitely a bit more slow burn in terms of their relationship, but it only adds to the plot of the story altogether! Another well-put story focusing on elements of mental health representation, particularly noting the times when even the ones most knowledgeable and closest may forget the signs of troubles mentally. Between The Other Version and Versions of Us, I am very much looking forward to Versions We Hide with Mackenzie and Dylan : ) <3

First things first, this was the second book I’ve read by Eve Blakely and she does a great job engaging the reader from the beginning. It’s so well written that you get engrossed in the story.

This second chance, small town romance. The relationship between Henley & Kristen was beautiful & was also very toxic at times especially with all the secrets and the mystery.

Henley tells Kristen he wants to spend forever with her, but the next day her world is flipped upside down when Henley text her he’s running an errand and that turns into him staying away for six months… excuse me what?

He returns to town with no friends,a secret and a mystery girl.. Kristen deserves to know but will he ever tell her?

Overall I enjoyed this story I found the characters journey from love to hate back to love interesting to follow. This wasn’t only a romance it touches on life and how people react to hardships, heartache, love.

Wow! I don’t have any words! After reading the first book, The Other Version (this book made me cry 😭) just 2 days before starting this, I knew to expect nothing less going into this book and I can honestly say that it did not disappoint. Once I started reading it, it was so hard for me to put it down! The suspense and mystery of what happened to Henley and him bringing in a blonde chick in town had me just guessing the why, how and who… that’s how to get me sucked in because at that point, I just wanted to keep reading because I needed to know everything that happened. I needed things to UNFOLD!

I love Henley and Kristin’s character. I love a strong FMC and a pining MMC. 😝 I love their love for each other! Even though they had to go through hardship and heartaches, they knew deep down that they were meant for each other. And Henley’s “I can’t not love you”, is now my favorite! 🩵🥹 Everytime he says it, it always gives me the damn feels!

And Henley’s backward hat and grey tracksuit!! 😮‍💨

I also love how the chapters are short, and that made it easy for me to just keep reading. And that ending! I LOVE IT! 🥰

Definitely 10/10 recommend! It would not disappoint! I can’t wait for book 3! These characters from Cliff Haven definitely have a place in my heart now!

ARC Review!

This is the second book in the 'Cliff Haven' series, but can be read as a standalone, as was the case for me given this was my first book by Eve Blakely (but won't be my last!). The story is told in dual POV, providing a glimpse into the lives of both the main characters.

Alex and Kristin, both with troubled pasts, met at the age of sixteen, and found themselves drawn to each other instantly. Alex was always the carefree one, while Kristen, despite her tough exterior, struggled with trust issues. Despite having an on-and-off relationship over the years, they always knew they'd find their way back to each other.

When Kristen sees a sudden shift in Alex's behaviour, from wild and carefree to attentive and mature, she starts to envision the possibility of a future with him.

Her world is turned upside down when Alex abruptly leaves town, only to return six months later with a mysterious girl, offering no proper explanation. Kristen is furious and wants nothing to do with Alex. But she can't deny the lingering feelings she still holds for him, even though he is no longer the man she once knew.

As secrets from Alex's six-month absence start to emerge, it will definitely take readers through a whirlwind of emotions. The dual POV works wonders here as the reader is given a better understanding of their relationship and their time apart, and will leave you feeling their sadness and devastation at times, and their unwavering, undeniable love at other times. Their story will deeply touch your heart, and I can almost guarantee it will bring tears to your eyes.
