Heavenly Court Arc
Overview
Xie Lian is fighting White No-Face in the Kiln of Mount Tonglu alone. Thinking he identified the true identity of White No-Face, all the previous evidence disappears when he interrogates the last State Preceptor of Xianle, who reveals something that shocks everyone in the Heavenly Court.
Personal impression
I guessed the plot twist, but I was still surprised, 'cause of the way it was conveyed. Compared to previous reveals, it was shown than told. It left a greater impact, 'cause there's a certain atmosphere that can only be created when a story aspect is shown then told to the reader. After being used to all the tell than show in this book series, I was surprised to see this frightful atmosphere being created.
I personally enjoy stories a lot with uncertainty and unease. That's also why I liked the Ship-Sinking Black Water story arc so much—not only the characters were paranoid of each other but the reader also didn't know who to trust. This time it's more of a question of disappointment than betrayal. The feeling of being disappointed by someone you looked up to all your life is a different pain than being betrayed by someone close to you.
Personal favourite moments
The true God of Misfortune, similar fate with different path, the true identities of the Four Guardians of the Crown Prince of Wuyong, the backstory of the Crown Prince of Wuyong and Shi Qingxuan's comeback.

We’re now reaching the climax of the story guyyssss. My stress levels were on high alert this whole volume.
Ahhh, since we are finally on Arc 5and have left that horrible Arc 4 behind, we are back in the present. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng have finally confessed and feelings were reciprocated and somehow they are even cuter than before?? A shitstorm is still happening around them, so things weren’t exactly peaceful, yet they still managed to incessantly flirt. Hua Cheng was so charming in this volume guys, he was just so cheeky. That man finally knows Xie Lian loves him back so he is not holding back at all!
And I KNOW that everyone around them was absolutely done with their bs. The constant flirting and lovesick eye contact is one thing, but the “spiritual power exchange” is another. I mean the other heavenly officials know, we know, HuaLian knows that they don’t necessarily got to kiss to share power but hey, Xie Lian knows what he wants and that’s to aggressively make out in the midst of battle I guess 🤭
This volume was just a treasure trove of quality HuaLian scenes. So much protective bf time, and kisses, and cheeky bastard hc.
Finding out J*n W* (and yes for now on I’m censoring his name, he’s officially on my shit list) was White No-Face was no surprise at all because unfortunately I was already spoiled a long long time ago, but that reveal was so chilling. Now I honestly understand why tgcf fans hate him so much. He truly is scary as hell, a creep, and just icky in general, and I honestly really wish that I went into this volume blind so I can be surprised because before finding out I did not suspect him at all.
My feelings for him wavered throughout this book. At one point, when Mei Nianqing told Xie Lian the story of the Crown Prince of Wuyong, I felt bad for him. But who wouldn’t? It was brilliant how a young J*n W* parallels Xie Lian. Both revered Crown Princes who became gods, then losing their devotees when they tried so hard but still failed to protect their people. Knowing how Xie Lian felt during that point in his life, how could you not sympathize with J*n W*… then he reminded me why I hated him so much...
Speaking of Mei Nianqing, the Xianle state preceptor, OH MY GODS I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! Finally being properly introduced to his character, I fell in love. He’s the aloof powerful wise master who’s honestly a bit of a goof who lowkey has a soft spot for his disciple. In other words, he’s basically Shen Qingqui from svsss. I mean I adore sqq so why wouldn’t I adore Mei Nianqing. He made me die laughing so many times. Not only is he just some dude who sweeps in in this critical moment of the story, chastises the other heavenly officials, supreme ghosts, and xl himself, he also is defensive and protective of Xie Lian which made me a little emotional ngl. I mean this boy needs all the support and love he can get so the state preceptor is a win in my eyes.
And my absolute FAVOURITE scene in the books was when Mei Nianqing discovers not only that his disciple is gay, in love with the ghost king — and wonders aloud if his teachings made xl gay, or if he was like that from birth — but finally he learns that the guy xl likes is the Star of Solitude. The child Xie Lian saved 800 years ago, who the state preceptor warned him would bring misfortune to those surrounding him. I was literally dying laughing.

Hah. Did any of you think I’d go this whole review without mentioning my pookie bear Shi Qingxuan? I honestly thought that the Black Water Arc was the last we saw of them so seeing him was a surprise. A very very very very nice surprise. I didn’t realize how much I missed him until I saw him again guys. I legit started crying when I realized that it was Shi Qingxuan, but ughhh my poor baby is not really living his best life right now. But he’s alive, he’s well, and if anything happens to him from here on out, I will raze the world to the ground.
I’m also disappointed with mxtx right now. Having that Beefleaf 'reunion’ near the end was pure torture. It was honestly so tense and emotional even if it was very brief. But gods my delusional self grasped that little piece of Beefleaf and ran…
Please. Yin Yu died?! No, I refuse to accept it. My babygirl cannot be dead…
That scene made me real emotional, the whole tense QuanYin situation bubbling up, and my (once again delusional) QuanYin heart hurt. But Yin Yu dying was just not it. But at least xl held him as he was going… and here I was happy we had more of Yin Yu and Quan Yizhen as characters. I am about to punt J*n W* off the face of the planet.
I just experienced a rollercoaster of emotion. I was sad one minute, crying-laughing the next, and then scared shitless the rest of the time. And there is one more volume left. One more volume. And I’m honestly scared for everyone’s lives. That cliffhanger is killing me. Is Hua Cheng and Mei Nianqing okay, what’s up with Mu Qing and Feng Xin? Everyone, just pleaseee live. My mental health depends on these characters and Xie Lian living at this point.

Hua Cheng was right behind him, his hands steady on Xie Lian's waist. He was just one person, but to Xie Lian, it felt like the entire world was supporting him. He breathed in deeply and closed his eyes.

This series has overtaken my life in more ways than I can express, and I'm so incredibly grateful for it!
Some favourite things in this volume:
- Feng Xin's iconic "What the fuck, what the fuck, what the actual fuck, what in the fucking world is that thing?!" which is me every time I open a work email 😂
- the return of an old fave character 🥺
- Hua Cheng playing hide and seek with Jun Wu
- Feng Xin getting a radish thrown at his face xD
- Pei Ming's macho ego being crushed by the Rain Master 💅
There were, as always, so many painful moments too, but we're going to pretend everyone is alive and fine!!

Hey. You thought this book was just regular degular xianxia? Cultivators who fight with spiritual weapons and talismans? Well, first of all, it literally isn’t—Hua Cheng has been out here transforming people into wooden weeble-wobbles at the slightest provocation for ages now. Call that regular. But in this volume you’ve really gotta lock in. I’m saying fasten your seatbelts, secure your tray tables in the upright and locked position, and prepare to take to the skies for a front-row view of a FLYING MECHA BATTLE.

Before I start going crazy, let me calm down and write a half decent summary:
In book 7 of Heaven Official’s Blessing, we follow Xie Lian and Hua Cheng’s journey through the kiln and the mission to figure out who is behind the mask of White No-Face. Xie Lian starts to gather pieces of a story that he once believed was his own, as he fights against the many obstacles his opponent hurls at him. Hua Cheng is right by his side the entire time, and together, they have the potential to achieve greatness. This book was filled to the brim with twists, turns, betrayal, stress, and, of course, plenty of moments that touch the hearts of us Hualian shippers 🫶
❃ A powerful hand seized his wrist. Behind him, Jun Wu was smiling.
”Xianle, what are you looking at?”
My thoughts are everywhere on this one! Especially given the fact that there is only one more book after this 😭 I’m not ready to say goodbye yet. Once the plot twists start hitting early in the book, it is a WILD ride from there. The author gets your attention and then throws you into a whirlwind of mysteries, romance, friendship, and ideas of honor. This book had me stressed all the way out while also pumping how awesome Hua Cheng is.
❃ Hua cheng was right behind him, his hands steady on Xie Lian’s waist. He was just one person, but to Xie Lian, it felt like the entire world was supporting him.
The Hua Cheng x Xie Lian tension was amazing in this book. It’s like they have a nonverbal understanding of each other, and as the book goes on, they get more and more comfortable with each other. The little moments they have together are so cute and sometimes so meaningful. I wish that love like this existed in a more plentiful way. If love doesn't look like this, I don’t want it. (I feel like I say that to myself way too often...)
They were so obviously whipped for each other the entire time, and I was living for it. One of my favorite things they do, is when Hua Cheng gives Xie Lian spiritual power through a kiss🫶 and almost every time…someone sees it and Xie Lian gets all flustered trying to explain even when we allllll know there’s nothing to explain 😂
Hua Cheng and Xie Lian also got a deeper understanding of each other through this book, and their relationship moved forward in both the cheesy moments but the real and mature moments as well.
❃When Xie Lian realized that Hua Cheng likely hadn’t lived past eighteen, his fingers trembled. Hua Cheng reached out with one arm and gently covered Xie Lian’s chilly hands
~ now there was a specific quote in here that I wanted but I couldn’t find it 😭 but I’ll summarize it, it was something along the lines of: Even though Xie Lian was cold, and Hua Cheng couldn’t carry warmth, their touch was hot as fire…..it was something like that and it would have been perfect for this review but moving on
THE PLOT TWIST - Now don’t get me wrong, there was just a twist after twist after twist in this entire series, but THIS?!?!? I did not expect it at all! And of course, like all books go, it’s the person you’d LEAST EXPECT that actually is the bad guy. I almost cried.
The storyline in this book was ✨perfect✨ and I kind of can’t wait to see how it ends. But I also don’t want it to end 😭
Also, this book kept the humor of tgcf going. Especially with the reappearance of the State Preceptor lol:
❃Still, the state preceptor added with glum confusion, “But…after being single for eight hundred years, how did you end up with a Supreme Ghost King?”
~I was laughing my absolute butt of at this quote 👆the state preceptor was lowkey kind of badass in this book 😂 he was kind of like the wise elder that has no filter and won’t hesitate to put someone in their place. He was a cool character.
❃ “It doesn’t actually matter what I roll—it’s just for my own reference. I’m the only one who gets to decide whether it’s dangerous or not.” Then he opened the door.
“Let’s go, gege.”
~ Hua Cheng’s confidence 👆will always be my favorite thing about him. And like with this quote, later we know why he said that. Like he knew….he knew what was gonna happen 😭
anyways…MXTX is stealing all of my five stars with no remorse. And usually I dont give out five stars easily....but this seris can have them all. This author is so smart and the way the plot flows is brilliant. This series has a big fat imprint on my heart, and I can’t wait for the next one.

this series is eating up all my 5 stars like its candy- the thing that makes me sad is that after every book, there is a page at the end that says “the story continues in Heaven Official’s Blessing Vol #” …sniff but this book it says “The story concludes In Heaven Official’s Blessing vol. 8” I’m gonna cry. i have one book left. never have i ever felt this level of unease that im feeling right now because of a villain. wow. he is creepy af!!! he makes me so anxious and uncomfortable, and the unsettling feeling keeps becoming more intense whenever he interacts with xie lian. im serious when i say i feel like puking because that antagonist is too creepy, predatory, gross, cruel, vile, a sadist, an abuser, and a disgusting creature. i really want him to stop talking and to stop existing PLS. I HATE HIM! ugh can y’all tell how much i hate him?

i was sooo stressed reading this volume. i got spoiled about who the antagonist is a long time before i decided to start reading this again and finishing it - but, it still seemed to come out of nowhere and was so shocking. mxtx did this so well. everything came together amazingly and i can’t believe how everything was connected. loved this a lot!
the slightly mecha? parts of this peeved me a little. it felt too random and that everything happened too easily. other than that, enjoyed pretty much everything. also, i didn’t really care for beefleaf like i thought i would but, the small part concerning the fan was moving.
can’t believe it’s ending in a volume 🥹🥹 interested to see how everything ends.

There's something satisfying in getting confirmation on a plot twist you've suspected since volume one. There's quite a bit happening and things escalated fast. I was happy to see some old favourites return. The way Heaven Official's Blessing is laid out, you got to know quite a few characters but all within different arcs. It feels like this is the first time the wider cast is shown collectively and it's making their differences more obvious [I confess, some of the characters felt like there weren't very distinguishable until brought together]. Looking forward to the finale in the last volume!

I have mixed feelings about this volume. There were many amazing scenes I loved, especially all the moments with hualian being flirty and in love with each other. However, everything else was kind of meh. I really loved the first four volumes but then vol 5 was too comedic for me, and vol 6 too depressing. I was hoping that the plot would get back to me loving it again but I don't know - everything was just so bizzare and far from how I imagined the finale battle to be. But let's start with hualian mushy moments first. After suffering through vol 6, I was very happy that we started this volume with hualian being reunited; especially because that reunion was very romantic ❤️❤️ I think that was my favourite part!

I really adore the way they are with each other. They were both alone for so many centuries, and now that they finally got together - affection, adoration, love, everything feels so vivid in their every interaction. Hualian might not be among my most favourite couples, but there's no doubt they are most devoted to each other. As I already said, their scenes were the best part of this volume, and I can't say enough how much I loved reading about hualian shocking everyone with their shameless PDA.

Xie Lian always going tippy toes to kiss Hua Cheng is the most adorable hualian thing ever! 🥰 And I know there's no smut in TGCF but I can imagine their first time together was probably very intense - 800 years worth of pent up yearning. Xie Lian's cultivation didn't stand a chance, haha. Or should I say, hoho 🤣🤣 It was also very funny how Mei Nianqing was that much scandalized to hear how his precious disciple is in a romantic relationship now. Honestly, if back then Mei Nianqing had matchmaked someone (or himself) to Jun Wu, maybe he wouldn't had gone crazy. Love conquers all, and all that, even if I never truly got this ship. Anyway, I hope he's invited to the wedding, so that he can be scandalized some more by watching Xue Yu Tan Hua "corrupting" his Taizi Dianxia.
As for the general plot of this volume, I wasn't exactly a fan. I can't say that it dragged because when I got immersed in the book, pages were just flying. However, I did have a feeling that we're going nowhere. There are still so many side stories that seem unfinished and we only have like half a volume untill the end of the main story. Also, I was always rolling my eyes how everyone is so incompetent. There are some bright exeptions but sometimes I can't believe there's a whole Heaven of officials that do nothing, and hualian have to save the day every single time. (Well, maybe that's just MXTX very cleverly portraying irl government, just too bad we don't have irl hualian.)
I've been having a problem with TGCF storyline since vol 5 when everything started to get extremly bizzare. Especially these long comedic intermezzos kind of don't match the whole vibe of the story. It's true that I'm not a fan of comedies but I adore SVSSS because it's hilarious. And it suits the story and characters. I just don't really get that here. I'm gonna say, thank gods for comedic scenes, otherwise everything would be way too depressing but honestly, that fight between the giant statue and burning heavenly capital totally took me out. I believe I have very vivid imagination but I was like 'That's too much, I just can't, it's too bizzare!' I still think that Bai Wuxiang/ Jun Wu is one of the best danmei villains. Especially, as Bai Wuxiang he's so graphicly creepy, he gave me nightmares once. And despite knowing the plot twist with Jun Wu, the scene of his reveal is amazingly written. I knew perfectly well what was coming but still a part of me didn't want to believe it will actually happen.
After this rant it might sound like I disliked a lot of things but in general, I still enjoyed this volume. Maybe it's more like I expected something different and was a little dissapointed because of that. But apart from hulian scenes, I also loved to see Shi Qingxuan again, and I always adore every Yushi Huang moment. And despite that bizzare fight, the scene when the giant staute is using He Xuan's sceletal dragons as a wip was extremly badass. And there was one scene that I couldn't stop thining about - Yin Yu's death. The whole quanyin side story is very tragic, and I've always really felt sorry for Yin Yu because he was trying so hard but never succeeded. The conversation he has with Xie Lian in his last moments has very impactful meaning. In her stories, MXTX has a lot of such scenes that make you pause and think about them.
I could probably say something more inspiring about this theme but I'm not in the mood to philosophize, so let's just finish this review in my usuall way - with cute moments for the end.

Xie Lian stood on the giant's palm, one hand pressing the bamboo hat down on his head while another blocked his face from the snowstorm. The stifling hot air was swept cleanly away, and Xie Lian took a deep breath of fresh, freezing air and shouted:
"San Lang-!"
The first syllable was still echoing in the air when a pair of arms pulled him into an embrace from behind. Xie Lian stiffened at first, but he relaxed when he looked down and saw red sleeves and silver vambraces circling his waist.
A deep, forlorn voice came from above his ear. "... I was about to lose my mind!"
Xie Lian hurried to turn around. He cupped his captor's cheeks with his hands and soothed him, "Don't... don't. I'm here... I'm out!"
Hua Cheng stood before him. His raven hair was mussed, and there was a lost look in his eye. He gripped the cry-smiling mask Xie Lian hadn't been able to remove no matter how hard he tried, easily tore it off, and tossed it away.

Hua Cheng held Xie Lian tightly and spoke in a low voice, touched by despair. "...I couldn't get into the Kiln no matter what I tried, and you had to break out on your own! I'm so fucking-"
"San Lang, it's okay - it's really all right!" Xie Lian said quickly. "Besides, I didn't break out on my own."
Hua Cheng finally calmed down a little. "What? Gege, how did you get out?"
"You helped me," Xie Lian replied.
The two of them were standing in the heart of that giant statue's palm.
The contours of its face were gentle and beautiful. Long brows with elegant eyes, refined lips with slightly upturned corners - almost a smile. It seemed affectionate but not frivolous, expressionless but not unkind. It was a face of compassion and beauty.
That face was Xie Lian's own!
Xie Lian raised his head to look at it. "Is this the one you told me about? The best divine statue you ever sculpted?" he asked softly.
Hua Cheng gazed up at it as well. It was a long while before his eyes fell back on the man beside him. "...Yes."

Just then, Xie Lian felt something tighten around his waist. Hua Cheng had wrapped an arm around him and pulled him to his side. He lifted Xie Lian's chin with his other hand, then pressed his chilled lips to Xie Lian's own.
"..."
Xie Lian's eyes widened as a rush of cool, refreshing air filled his lungs. It seemed to flow through his limbs, invigorating his entire body.
The kiss was brief, and Hua Cheng drew back soon afterward, lips parted.
"Gege, try standing up again!"

"Can we really make it go faster? What if the spiritual power runs out?" he asked, uncertain.
"It won't. Just focus on running!" Hua Cheng assured him next to his ear. "Don't be afraid - I'm right here beside you."

The giant divine statue couldn't depend on the Blessings Lanterns and silver butterflies to fly, but Xie Lian couldn't make a move on Hua Cheng with so many people around. But adversity breeds ingenuity - Xie Lian grabbed a random heavenly official and yanked them over to block the others' view while he cupped Hua Cheng's face and brought him in for a deep kiss.
Time passed, and Xie Lian's whole body was filled with spiritual power. The heavenly official who had been used as a screen had gone completely stiff.
"What are you two doing behind my back??!" he cried in shock.
Counteless eyes focused on them. Only then did Xie Lian discover that the random official he had used to block the view was Lang Qianqiu.
What a sin, what a sin! This child mustn't witness such things, Xie Lian repented in his mind.
"We've done nothing! Nothing you should see!" he exclaimed.
Hua Cheng was standing so close behind him, like he was about to reach out. Xie Lian stopped caring about anything else and went right for it - he pounced on Hua Cheng, cupped his cheeks with his hands, and then, getting up on his toes slightly to reach, he closed his eyes and pressed their lips together.
"..." said Feng Xin
"..." said Mu Qing
"...?" said Quan Yizhen.
"Ho ho," said Pei Ming.
But it wasn't enough. Since they were already in that position, Xie Lian thought he might as well take a bit more - he wound his arms tightly around Hua Cheng's neck to deepen the kiss. All the fatigue he'd been feeling was swept away in an instant as his body was refilled with spiritual power.

"Better than most people, huh?" Yin Yu gave a small, arduous chuckle. The he sighed, and the sound of his last regret passes along with his soul as he mumbled, "But I wanted to be a god..."
Xie Lian bowed his head deeply, "Your Highness Yin Yu... this world has no true gods..."

It was a bad omen, but Hua Cheng still looked unpertrubed; he tucked the dice away, smiling. "It doesn't actually matter what I roll - it's just for my reference. i'm the only one who get's to decide whether it's dangerous or not." Then he opened the door. "Let's go, gege."
[...] Xie Lian reached out automatically and pulled him back, almost blurting, "Don't go!" But Xie Lian knew that it was impossible to ask of him.
In the end, he only said soflty, "Let's go. But don't leave my side. If anything happens, I will protect you."
Hua Cheng was stunned by this. It was a good moment before the corners of his lips curled, and he broke into a wide smile. "All right. Gege, remember to protect me."

This is TGCF at its most unhinged. There are pseudo-mecha fights, a dramatic villain reveal, a grand reunion of all the side characters amidst peak action chaos. [redacted] is an excellent villain, so that part is my favorite by far - the unravelling of his story and the parallels with Xie Lian's. Also, I forgot how entertaining of a character Mei Nianqing is. This volume is probably the weakest for me, but it's still an addicting read.

Aside from the morbid predicaments and revelations, I just think that this volume is so unserious? I can't stop chuckling.
And since we're here now, I want to say that we always get to see people comparing Xie Lian and Jun Wu. But I don't think people really talk about the comparison between Hua Cheng and Jun Wu. They both genuinely like Xie Lian, but their obsessions are immensely different with each other. Hua Cheng's obsession is devotion while Jun Wu is possession that is full of narcissism. Hua Cheng worships and loves Xie Lian purely and without malice. On the other hand, Jun Wu merely sees Xie Lian as a tool for self-validation. He wants to use Xie Lian to validate the things he has done, but Hua Cheng never wanted to use Xie Lian. In fact, he wants to use his own self at Xie Lian’s expense. There's a lot more but I don't want to ruin it for everyone else, but it's really interesting if you lay them all out.
Moving on to Jun Wu, I really really like him. I don't condone the things he has done and I will never justify his actions, but I can't deny the fact that he is a really well-written character. Man, I feel sad for him honestly. But Xie Lian didn't deserve the things he has suffered. Nobody does.
Anyway, it's kinda funny but also melancholic that He Xuan told Shi Qingxuan (in Volume 4) to "never show yourself to me again," but then here goes Mr. Black Water Sinking Ships posed as "Hua Cheng" with the fixed Wind Master Fan up his ass. He Xuan personally fixing the fan and then snorting softly when Shi Qingxuan used his fan once again? He Xuan you are not so slick. Oh beafleaf, tsk tsk tsk.
GOSH, seems like I've talked a lot already and I honestly still has so much to say? But I will cut it now, this is not even the final volume! Well, I want to pay my respects to Yin Yu, his principles alone makes him much more superior than most 'gods' in the Upper Realm. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone else, and I wish that he knows that.
That's it for now! Our HuaLian is getting more and more public, I love them for that. Let's hope Quan Yizhen doesn't adapt their way of sharing spiritual powers, haha!

He Xuan personally fixing the fan and then snorting softly when Shi Qingxuan used his fan once again? He Xuan you are not so slick. Oh beafleaf, tsk tsk tsk.
GOSH, seems like I've talked a lot already and I honestly still has so much to say? But I will cut it now, this is not even the final volume! Well, I want to pay my respects to Yin Yu, his principles alone makes him much more superior than most 'gods' in the Upper Realm. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone else, and I wish that he knows that.

I finished this by staying up longer than I should've... no regrets 😙
My thoughts on this Vol are currently all over the place, so this is just gonna be word vomit. (This might just be full of spoilers, so read at ur own risk😅)
The elephant in the room, Jun Wu is White No-Face, he was sus from the beginning and I already saw memes about the plot twist, so wasn't that surprised. However, it was HEAVILY uncomfortable seeing JW being so...heartless and manipulative in his Emperor form, particularly the situ with YY (It was so sad seeing both YY and QY suffer, but I was so proud of YY🥹)
The amount of fluff in this book among the chaos? Constant flirting (mostly HC), CHEECK PECKS!, more "transferring spiritual power", waist holdingx100, etc. All while chaos ensues both in heaven and the mortal realm lol.
Speaking of flirting constantly, the convo between XL and HC through the spiritual communication array while Jun Wu listened, I was FREAKING out the ENTIRE TIME! 1. because HC was FLIRTING like his life depended on it and 2. that XL couldn't get the point across that he was in fact in danger (but ofc HC knew🤭).
And my baby Shi Qingxuan came backkk!!! XL's thoughts after his convo with SQ,
Xie Lian listened to them quietly, his smile fading a bit. His heart felt
like it was crumpled into a ball, but at the same time, like it was laid out and
nicely flattened like rice paper.
Lord Wind Master had changed, but he also hadn’t.
Same XL, I feel the same.
Which brings me, HE XUAN disguised as HC giving SQ spiritual power and tossing the fan at him I- FNEIFNE JENDWEWF NKJNDOQIKQ!!!!
I was a GAPING LIKE A FISHHHH... he SNORTED, SOFTLY at that, and left before SQ could ask him smthn (WHYYYY!!!!)
the state preceptor being THIS relevant to the plot is something I did not see coming, and dude went through A LOT... I can't even imagine how he felt dealing with JW (slaughtering his friends and sacrificing them😐). JW is honestly so terrifying, the fact that he murdered all of the heavenly officials of the previous dynasty and mixed their ashes in the foundation of the new heavenly capital so he can trample and step on them... damn...
But the difference is made clear in this Vol of why JW and XL are so similar yet veryyy different (HC insists they aren't alike at all😂)
The state preceptor figuring out about HuaLian, that bit was so hilarious lmao
The fight between the giant divine statue and the fiery giant was EPIC, I am usually not into scenes like that but THIS was sooo good (THE BONE DRAGON WHIP!!!)
Why is MQ acting weird... I'm a sap for the Xianle Trio but smthns weird with MQ toward the end...
Overall, the thought that was constantly on my mind while reading was, how did MXTX come up will ALL THIS?! and how did MXTX connect them all... every single sub-adventure/plot ties perfectly with the main plot... GENIUS I'm telling u❤️
I've already started the next Vol lol... I DO NOT WANT THIS TO END😭😂❤️

can't believe this is it, the story ends with the next volume and I'm definitely not ready.
I don't have much to say about this volume, I think for me it felt a little bit like an extra? like it was the answer we were seeking–knowing what happened to the previous prince, that lost kingdom, even how xie lian's destiny was tried to be shaped. it was a lot of information and I loved it, every aspect of it, it even made me doubt about everything we knew until that point. I don't recall some parts of the book, that's how much of it didn't stood out to me.
I'm gonna say I'm glad that past characters were brought back once again. it was nice to see them and even more surprising knowing how it was also their fate the ones changing and manipulated. (lord wind master my beloved you will be forever cherished)
is it weird that I was even glad to read qi rong? maybe he did have it in him to be not so horrible, doesn't erase everything he did but maybe there he has other impulses when it came to gunzi, knowing they did spend time together, maybe that cracked is infuriating-annoying ass a little bit. (also he made me laugh every time he was on scene gosh he was a fucking idiot a fucking menace)
all that mystery about white no-face and even jun wu got me so surprised! I really had no idea at all about the turn it was about to take. it was difficult to read about the prince of wuyong and how his life mirrored xie lian's, but also such a great contrast and parallel showing once more how xie lian even in his worst time picked himself up and choose once again to be kind, something the prince of wuyong finally didn't. it's not that much about the circumstances but what do we choose to do about it I guess.

It was all because of one phrase.
The only two moods while reading this volume: lol and ??????????? Mainly because of MXTX's fight scenes. I quickly gave up questioning / trying to figure out how this was happening; I know it's difficult writing about rather than showing a battle. I'm sure it'll be animated just fine if we ever get like season 5 of this show, but I was far less impressed reading about it. MXTX also tends to only show recurring characters doing any work. There is a literal fight for their lives, and among all the gods in this world, I believe only four beings are actually doing something. I have no idea what the hundreds(?) of other gods are doing. Maybe they really don't deserve to be in the heavenly realm ;) To sum this volume up, everything is on fire, and there is some strange battle happening in the skies.
I love HuaLian, but the number of times I sighed because they were flirting instead of focusing on more important matters at hand. Can we wait until we finish off the final boss hahahaha... me also panicking so hard I lose my mind when our main characters are just kinda chilling while everything is going down.
GUESS WHO IS BACK TO SAVE THIS VOLUME FROM BEING A DISAPPOINTMENT? Three stars for the three appearances made by Shi Qingxuan. I almost cried upon his return. And y'all, I get your obsession with Mei Nianqing, I get it. I am here for anyone who accuses Hua Cheng of being an 800 year stalker. This man has been out here trying to save as many people as possible despite losing his powers; please cherish him, protect him, let him play cards to his heart's desire. He is the accepting, but concerned parent we all aspire to be.
Once again, Xie Lian's bamboo hat was specifically mentioned in the beginning, and ceases to appear for the rest of the book :) I think it's hilarious when MXTX remembers this is Xie Lian's thing, but generally forgets to mention it is still with him.
