To Freely Fly: A Sci-Fi Harem Adventure

Rate this book
Arriving to Barnard's Star, the crew of the Argos find themselves in the middle of a civil war with a distress call coming from a princess herself. Atlas couldn't have asked for a better ally to gain if he wants to try and fix his reputation. Problem is, the princess he picks up is on the losing side of the civil war, and she has an even bigger target on her head than he does now. It's just one thing after another. There is some good news, though. This princess has an ally on a station dedicated to gambling, pleasure, and entertainment. So, even though Atlas keeps on digging himself into a deeper hole regarding his reputation, at least he'll get to have some fun while doing it. And the best part? The ladies working at the station wear those leotard bunny costumes. They even sell them, and it's obvious to Atlas just how good Mari would look in one. That is way more important than anything else as far as he's concerned.

I made it 165 pages into this book (665) before I decided to DNF it.

I never felt any engagement with the MC, who I considered a nitwit at best. Between his belief in his pompadour being the height of all fashion, to his not taking anything seriously because this is his game world, I just couldn't stand him.

Then there's the first LI, who has a chest twice the size of her head. And at one point they are play-spec'ing out an android for the ship's AI, and she insides it must have a bigger chest than she does. The push the sliders to the point the body is all breasts before deciding it looked silly. (Ya think?)

It's all just too silly. Not the whimsical silly of "The Lazy Dragon Queen" series by the author, but idiot silly. It's not the comical 4th wall breaks or the MC openly recognizing the plot has gone off the rails. It's that there really wasn't a plot to begin with.

It's Okay

Not as good as Vol. 1 but still okay. Felt very small in scope focusing more on characters than space battles or tricky piloting. No action or anything really besides one asteroid stealth sequence and a very brief "fight" at a brothel.

Another great one

I'm very happy with all of our new characters and the way the story developed. Hopefully we won't have to wait to long until the next book is released.
