A hunt for escaped prisoners becomes a deadly K-9 mission.
After a prison break, K-9 officer Lizzie Reynolds is ready to join the search for the criminals—but one of the escapees finds her first and ambushes her. She’s rescued by Deputy US Marshal Walker McCane, her high school crush, and they’re forced to work together to find the fugitives. Soon they realize that one of the prisoners has a personal vendetta against Lizzie. As they face persistent attacks, Walker and Lizzie must rely on each other to survive a dangerous game with a convict who wants to complete his deadly plan…no matter the cost.

Prison break - relationship dynamics - personal vendetta. This fast-paced suspense audiobook held my attention from Page 1! I really enjoyed the narrator.
It's another installment in the Colorado K-9 Unit series. Are you a fan of second chance/reunion stories? If so, Fugitive Manhunt is for you! K-9 officer Lizzie Reynolds is threatened, and she teams up with US Marshal Walker McCane - her long lost high school crush. Both of their names show up on a hit list, and they have to stay one step ahead of a killer.
This book has it all - action, suspense, fugitives, second chance at love, dogs, and US Marshals. The story is exciting, the characters are memorable, the villain is unhinged, and of course, did I mention working dogs? And a golden retriever - my favorite! Be sure to check out Fugitive Manhunt to add some intensity to your summer reading list!
I listened to the audio version for this story and loved the narrator. I recommend the audiobook if you are a fan of audio.
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own
This fast-paced read hooked me straight in from the start. While the baby smuggling case is still ongoing, there's another case that's present in Fugitive Manhunt. Lizzie and Walker have been busy with escaped convicts and kidnappings. Someone is targeting Lizzie, Walker, and Walker's dad but who and why? I did have my suspicions. Lizzie and Walker share a history involving betrayal, manipulation, and lies, and they have to resolve a situation from 10 years ago. Manhunt has faith, twists and turns, suspense, romance, and second chances.
Taut and tense and full of action and suspense, a reader barely gets a chance to catch her breath before the next harrowing scene. Lizzie’s on somebody’s hit list and she doesn’t know why. Enter Walker, her high school crush (which ended badly) to the rescue. Their unexpected reunion is fraught with emotion as they navigate their professional and personal lives. One edge-of-your-seat scene follows another right to the gasp-out-loud conclusion. (I figured out the villain waaaaaayyyyy before Walker and Lizzie did but that didn’t diminish my reading enjoyment…made it even more edgier actually.)
This is the fifth book in the ‘Colorado K-9 Unit’ continuity series which features and overarching suspense plot as well as one particular to this story. Lizzie’s mystery is solved, but there are plenty of dangling threads to tie up for the series suspense. No worries, though, ‘Fugitive Manhunt‘ can easily be read as a standalone as well, though I am enjoying this series tremendously. Might be my favourite Love Inspired Suspense continuity series yet.
I listened to the audio edition narrated by Mac Folder whose performance added to the high drama and tender moments too . A captivating listen that I’d definitely recommend to audio enthusiasts.
My thanks to HarperCollins, Harlequin Audio and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.
We are back in Colorado with the Colorado K-9 Unit. This group has been searching for the individuals responsible for the kidnapping of young pregnant women who are later killed and their babies disappear. One of these K-9 officers is Lizzie Reynolds. When a prison break occurs, she’s assigned to work with Deputy US Marshal Walker McCane. Once her HS crush . The same one who also crushed her heart. But finding these fugitive prisoners is the top priority. As they work together it’s becoming evident that this manhunt is more than a manhunt for prisoners. It seems one or more of them and maybe someone else, has a vendetta with Lizzie and will do all they can to harm her. The danger increases while old feelings and revelations of the past are revealed. Will they survive the danger? If they do, will they realized they are meant to be together? This story is filled with suspense, well developed characters and faith. It’s a story about clearing the past, second chances, and faith in God. Mac Fowler does a great job with the narration. I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Harlequin Audio. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is such a great installment in the Colorado K-9 Unit series. I love Sharee Stover's books and this one had me falling in love with Lizzie's K-9, Reena, from the start. I love that the author chose to feature a Golden Retriever for this one!
There is so much suspense in this story as Lizzie tries to keep away from the clutches of a man who tried to grab her. Luckily she teams up with the one who got away US Marshal Walker McCane to help her solve the case. These two make a great team and sparks fly as they race to put the clues together.
I love second chance romances and I was rooting for them the whole time especially because of the misunderstanding created by someone they thought was their friend.
I really enjoyed the adventure and the connection between the main characters. Another great job by Sharee Stover who always provides us with an exciting story with characters you want to see get their happy ending.
I also enjoyed the audio version of this book. The narrator did a great job at keeping up with the pace and showing the emotions behind the scenes to bring the story to life.
Lizzie never expected to see Walker ever again, she certainly never expected him to be the one to come to her rescue when she is run off the road by a gunman. But just as their past is what neither of them remember, their current cases aren't either. Both cases take bizarre twists, but the most bizarre element is that both Lizzie and Walker are named on a target list....but who wants to take out both of them? And why? I enjoyed joining Lizzie and Walker for this case and seeing them work through past hurts and current attraction, it's awesome to see them get a second chance when somebody else sabotaged their relationship first time. I did guess who was behind the prison break, who was seeking retribution from both Walker and Lizzie and who the female "assistant" was, but I didn't see the connection to Walker's family, that was a great twist to the plot! I listened to this on Audible.
Exciting and keeps you guessing until the very end!
Officer Lizzie and her K-9 Reena are driving to a prisoner transfer escape when she is rammed off the road and shot at. Marshal Walker is nearby and responds to her call for help. When he sees his high school crush, he is surprised. Their story had ended badly for both of them. But then a note naming, Lizzie, Walker and Walker's father all as targets. Now they have to work together to search for escaped prisoners, search for the kidnapped pregnant teen and keep themselves safe! Can they manage it?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has no steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian ideals are mentioned but not the focus of the story. This is a great story that moves the continuity a little farther ahead but there is still a ways to go. I can't wait to see what happens next!
K-9 officer Lizzie Reynolds teams up with an old high school crush Deputy Marshal Walker McCane to recapture a group of escaped convicts. But one of the convicts is out for revenge. Can they stay one step ahead of who is after her?
An engaging read, with plenty going on. Lizzie and Walker have known each other a while but haven't talk since high school. While working together they reconnect and bond over their jobs and shared faith. Walker is supportive and quick on his feet to help Lizzie. Lizzie is resilient and talented.
A fast paced read with plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing. Great interaction and chemistry, with a plot that had me on the edge of my seat. Great addition to the series. Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
K-9 Officer Lizzie Reynolds and Deputy U.S. Marshal Walker McCane join forces after Lizzie is ambushed by one of several fugitives who escaped during a prison break. As they work tirelessly to track down the dangerous convicts, it soon becomes clear that at least one of them has a personal vendetta against Lizzie, making the manhunt even more perilous.
This fifth installment in the Colorado K-9 Unit series is another fast-paced blend of suspense, heart, and sweet romance. Sharee Stover once again delivers engaging characters whose unwavering faith shines through even in the most dangerous circumstances. Lizzie and Walker made an excellent team, and their chemistry added a warm touch to the nonstop action.
Mac Fowler’s narration brought the story to life, making for an enjoyable audiobook experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series and am already looking forward to whatever adventure awaits in future installments.
Many thanks to Harlequin Audio and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Overall, I enjoyed Fugitive Manhunt and thought it was a fast, entertaining read. The action kept the story moving, and I always enjoy books with K-9 teams and law enforcement. That said, the religious aspect was a little stronger than I expected and wasn’t really my thing. I also felt like the storyline was very similar to several other K-9 suspense books I’ve read, so it didn’t feel especially unique. Even so, it was a solid read with plenty of suspense, and I’d recommend it if you enjoy clean, action-packed romantic suspense.
Thank you Harlequin Audio for allowing me to read and review Fugitive Manhunt on NetGalley.

This is the fifth book in the Colorado K-9 Unit Series, I found it to be okay. I would have liked more mature main characters. The story premise drew me in; however. I didn't get the impressed excited feeling reading the book as I did with the story plot.
I would recommend for young readers or to those looking for a quick familiar base with reoccurring characters.
I may look for the first book and try Stover again.
Suspense, intrigue coming at you full steam. Add in Lizze from the Colorado K-9 Unit, second chance romance with; US Marshall and High School crush; Walker and you have all the stumbling blocks. Top it off with fugitives, faith and twists for an enjoyable plot. The narrator was great. Thank you for the advance audio copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinion. #FugitiveManhunt #ColoradoK-9Unit #ShareeStover #LoveInspiredSuspense HarlequinAudio #Netgalley
Fugitive Manhunt by Sharee Stover is #5 in her Colorado K-9 Unit. Enjoyed the narration by Mac Fowler. Christian suspense with fast paced action to keep you guessing. Second chance at romance for this Deputy Marshal and K-9 Officer if they can survive. I’ve been enjoying this series. Thank you to #NetGalley and #Harlequin Audio for this arc. This is my honest review. Releases July 28, 2026
A fast paced mystery suspense with a side of romance that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next! The narrator did a fantastic job bringing this story to life!
I received an audio ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.
Part of an interconnected series with characters that overlap but could be read as a standalone. Second chance Escaped convicts Betrayal from within Found family
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Colorado K-9 Unit series. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed the audiobook. I wished the two main characters would just talk to each other before they did. I loved the ending, and the twist was so good. There was a ton of action and suspense throughout this book. I think the second chance romance in this book would have been better if the characters just talked to each other before they did. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
