For Evie, starting courses at Grace University was supposed to be a new beginning. Moving out of her oppressive family home is the first time she’s been able to picture a life of her own. With tuition paid and her roommate-turned-best friend secured, nothing stands in her way.
Except for the Seven.
My brothers and I are the personification of the seven deadly sins. We rule through fear and brutal, effective ruthlessness. I’ve never regretted my life of vengeance—of murder and mayhem as I search for my sister—until she arrived.
Evie has slithered into my bones and taken up residence in my marrow. I feel her there always taunting, tempting—fucking consuming—and just like that, I have a weakness. But I won’t let the bastards take another person from me.
They say justice will be served in hell. But patience isn’t one of my virtues.
˖⁺‧₊♡ pre-read review ⋙ in the mood to discover new authors and devour some dark romance. i also need to clear some arcs that have been sitting on my tbr for too long, starting with this one. the trigger warnings have me intrigued 👀
a massive thank you to c. l. briar and haus of fables for the gifted e-arc.
"I choose you, Silas." Just as fiercely as you choose me.
What to expect in this * Dark romance * Seven deadly sins * Motorcycle club * Masked men * Billionaires * Found family * College setting
First and foremost, thank you to the team at Haus of Fables PR for this gifted copy of Envy by C.L. Briar. And as always, strap in because I have some thoughts!
This was a WILD ride. I missed dark romance and this was a book that definitely peaked my interest! I love a masked man and this was perfect for spooky season.
I found this very entertaining (and spicy oh my lord). I really enjoyed the Seven Deadly Sins aspect of this book with each of the men in the motorcycle club were characterised by a sin. And for this book our main male character, Silas, is characterised as, of course, Envy.
This dived into a lot of dark topics such as religious trauma, trafficking, and oppressive family. It was dark and it was interesting to see how the author explored these topics.
I will say, it was very fast paced and easy to read. Sometimes you need a pick me up and this one was a good one. Though, it was very insta lust and I’m not the biggest fan of it and do wish that the two main characters had a bit more time to grow into their relationship but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book and the characters.
I definitely recommend this to the spicy dark romance lovers and for those who love a masked man.
When Evie gets one semester of freedom away from her controlling family, she doesn't plan to waste it. Neither does Silas, her best friend's brother... and also her new roommate. To escape her past and build her future, Evie must trust Silas's possessive rage. But as demons from their past start to circle, they may not make it out alive.
Envy by C. L. Briar was exactly what I expected it to be. Fun, easy to read, and predictable. There was plenty of spice, a dash of plot, and actually good character development. I'd definitely recommend it as a way to escape for a few hours, even if you already know how it's going to end.
Read if you like... 🐍Strong found family vibes 🖤Overcoming religious trauma 🐍He falls first and harder (and never really stops falling) 🖤Motorcycle vigilantes 🐍Just the right amount of spice 🖤Healthy female friendships 🐍Forced proximity 🖤Touch her and you die 🐍Her dreams become his dreams
Thank you to Haus of Fable for an e-ARC. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.
C.L. Briar’s Envy is one of those high-octane, adrenaline-rushing stories that comes at you right from the start and doesn’t let up. And I love it when an author takes me through that ride. A seven deadly sins-inspired story had me so wrapped up with these guys, especially Silas. He is the epitome of morally grey with vigilante vibes.
If you’re a TW/CW reader, do take heed of this. It’s quite a list. The spice is high, and Evie is the primary focus. There are no lags to this story. It is truly high-paced. I appreciated how the story's twists were incorporated, and I look forward to reading more about the other MC brothers.
Thank you to Author C.L. Briar and Haus of Fables PR for the gifted copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Filled with so much religious resent, understanding and a twisted society. I ate this up. If you like anything relating to the Adam and Eve, but flip it and turn it into a fictional story with the DR elements, you’ll enjoy this one. It wasn’t too heavy and was really entertaining to read!
I loved reading how the FMC grew into her character. Handling the changes with anxious yet, well made decisons, which ultimately brings her to the character I loved.
The Seven Princes of Hell? Stunning. All resemblances of their namesakes and ruthless. BUT really, good. IFKYK.
Thank you for the advanced copy Haus of Fables + CL Briar 🖤
4 ⭐️ thank you MTMC Tours and CL Briar for an e-ALC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!
This was dark, spicy, and depraved. And I absolutely had a blast reading it. The college setting and family drama was interesting with the MC and “secret society” aspects. The chemistry between the MMC & FMC was off the charts hot and when the tension finally popped, I was FERAL.
I also listened to the audiobook of this one and can safely say the narrators were amazing and their voices really went well with the characters. They brought the whole story together splendidly.
Okay, I devoured this book. Like one sitting, no breaks, send help level of devouring.
This story hooked me from the very first page. I loved the way it took the concept of the seven deadly sins and turned it into seven brothers, each one perfectly distinct and so intriguing. Silas, our “envy” boy, absolutely stole the show for me. He’s dark, obsessive in the best way, rides a motorcycle, and gives total masked antihero energy. Basically, he’s every morally gray dream rolled into one.
And then there’s Evie. My heart ached for her at first growing up under suffocating religious control, trying to find her footing once she finally gets a taste of freedom. Watching her open up, find her strength, and realize she deserves more? So satisfying.
Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. The tension, the spice, the emotional moments, it all just worked. And the found family vibes from the other brothers? I’m already obsessed with each of them and can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
Dark, spicy, and surprisingly heartfelt, this one had me fully in my feels. Bring on the rest of the sins. I’m so ready. Thanks to Haus of Fables and the author for the gifted book.
I was enthralled in this book from the start and ended up devouring it in one day because I did not want to put it down!
I found Silas really intriguing, especially his darker side, and I loved his possessiveness when it came to Evie. I liked that he seemed to know exactly what she craved, and that he was able to offer her the freedoms she’d never experienced.
It took me a little longer to warm up to Evie, but I ended up really liking her and enjoyed the journey of her embracing her new life outside of the confines of her super religious family.
I liked the other members of the seven and loved how they were willing to accept Evie as one of them, almost instantly. Even if it was only so Tempest could have a friend of her own. I particularly liked the interactions between Tempest and Erik and hope we get a closer look at them in future books.
The spicy scenes were fantastic from the start, and I liked how Evie enjoyed having Silas in charge. It made for some tremendous interactions between them.
The underlying storyline was interesting, although I had guessed the plot twist pretty early on. There were a couple of things that I wasn't the biggest fan of, and the ending felt slightly anticlimactic, but I still really enjoyed the book as a whole and look forward to diving into the other guys' books in the future!
Holy smokes. The book was so addicting. There are 7 brothers that are the personification of the 7 deadly sins.. enough said right? Well this book focuses on Silas which is the deadly sin, Envy and wow does he show up to the stage with the right amount of darkness and intensity any girl needs. He runs into the FMC Evie which grew up with religious parents which in turn has given her religious trauma to the max. Once they meet, there is nothing keeping them apart despite how much they want to stay away from each other or do they..
Evie is a well written character that many can relate to, with her religious upbringing and trauma which has caused her to hate who she really is. She had a great character development which leads to an even better relationship with Silas. Silas is as dark as it can get but at the same time, makes sure she is well taken care of and heard on what she wants.
I have fallen in love with the supporting characters and can't wait to see what this standalone interconnected series brings!
I really enjoyed Envy by C.L. Briar! I don’t usually love dark romance, but this one was different. The book had such a good balance between story and spice, there was a solid plot that actually kept me engaged, not just something thrown in to fill space. The darker themes were handled thoughtfully and didn’t feel overdone or purely for shock value.
What stood out most to me was that the story didn’t feel ridiculously unrealistic or over the top. The characters had depth, and their chemistry felt natural and believable. The tension built in a way that made sense for who they were and what they’d been through.
The spice was definitely there, and it was written so well, there were no awkward lines or cringey moments, just smooth, intense scenes that fit perfectly with the tone of the book. It added to the story instead of taking over it, which I really appreciated.
Overall, Envy was a great dark romance that managed to stay grounded while still being steamy, emotional, and intense. I’ll definitely be picking up more of C.L. Briar’s books after this one.
✨ Thank you to Haus of Fables PR and C.L. Briar for the opportunity to read this eARC! ✨
Loved the way the characters were described throughout the whole book. There are 7 “brothers” the 7 deadly sins and I like that she would refer back to their “sin” and it kept them relevant while also focusing on the main character Silas ( Envy) and Evie our FMC.
I resonated so hard with Evie - her being shamed in her religion and then getting to break free once she was allowed one semester of college. Her half brother and mom and dad are the fucking worst.
Silas is on a mission to find his sister but once Evie moves in he becomes a little UBSESSED. This dark, masked, crotch rocket riding envious man is dream. lol
Evie really comes into her own and stands her ground. She knows what happened in her past is not right and something is wrong.
I am so stoked for the other guys the way the author could take this. I’m UBSESSED !
Thank you to Haus of Fable and C.L. Briar for the APC / ARC
This book has so much of what I love in Dark Romance. Silas is such a wonderful MMC and I fell in love with him immediately. He is morally grey and does some bad things, but he always has his reasons. He is part of the seven biker gang and I am so excited to read the rest of their stories because each of them were so intriguing. Evie I didn't love at first, but her story of growth and finding herself was done so well that I fell in love with her as a character by the end.
I highly recommend this one!!! I had such a good time and I devoured this one.
Were there moments when it felt a little cliche? Yes. But I loved it.
A motorcycle club with members based off the seven deadly sins, who are also like vigilantes... sign up me!
Silas, aka Envy, was the perfect morally pitch black, broody, "touch her and 💀" , misunderstood artist MMC. And Evie, our jaded, virgin FMC with religious trauma. They made the perfect pairing and even though it was insta-lust, I ate it up. Their chemistry was so good and the dirty mouth on that man was unmatched!
This had the perfect plot to spice ratio and I was hooked. The twists and turns were so good and I can not wait for the rest of the boys books.
A huge thank you to Haus of Fables PR for the Envy PR package and for bringing this book to the forefront of my TBR. I ended up reading this via audiobook and honestly had a grand old time.
This is very heavy on Insta lust/love and is a dark romance, meaning that the themes lean heavily towards the morally grey. But it’s no less fun to read! It gave me the same kind of vibes that those short films on TT give me & I am definitely interested in reading the rest of the sins stories.
This book did quite well in evoking a visceral reaction from me every time Evie’s family appeared because I would like to launch them all of a cliff (politely).
This book was the perfect palette cleanser for my needs.
Listening to the audiobook immediately hooked me. I enjoyed the fast paced plotline and OMG the spicy scenes. I swear, Christian J. Gilliland's voice altered my brain chemistry. Both him and Rylee Kuberra bring the MCs to life in the best ways (need more dark romances narrated by them ). Highly recommend if you love: ✨Masked men 🖤Motorcycle club ✨Dark romance 🖤Lust, love and hate ✨Seven deadly sins
Where are my religious trauma girlies at? Because this one is for you. 💔🔥
Evie is one of the most relatable FMCs I’ve read—raised in a deeply conservative purity culture, suffocated by shame, emotional manipulation, and the weight of expectations. She finally escapes her oppressive family to attend Grace University… but her freedom comes with a ticking clock. At the end of the semester, her family plans to drag her back and marry her off to a man they choose.
Enter Silas—dark, broody, dangerous. The exact kind of man Evie’s been warned about her whole life. And yet, he’s the one who makes her feel alive. Silas is the kind of MMC who is constantly judged by appearances but has layers of nuance: a protector, a fighter, and a man who may do the wrong things for the right reasons. I loved the complexity of his character.
Envy is raw, real, dark, and deeply validating. For every woman who’s wrestled with religious trauma, shame spirals, and the pain of repressing your true self to please the patriarchy—this book will make you feel seen.
Make sure to check the trigger warnings, as this story doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. But if you’re ready for something that blends vulnerability, rage, healing, and heat—Briar absolutely delivers with this stunning debut in the dark romance space.
Dark, delicious, dangerous. I ate this book up and I am sitting here wishing for more! This dark romance was spicy and unhinged book crack in all of the best ways. It's a retelling of Eve and the seven deadly sins.
Silas is definitely my new book boyfriend ❤️🔥 To me he is Jax from Sons of Anarchy coded, but with a crew of brothers who all represent the seven deadly sins. If you love a dominant, tatted up biker who is a tortured artist at heart, Silas is going to tick ALL of your boxes. He's death incarnate, sin mixed with my darkest desires and given life.
Evie comes from a religious controlling cult vibe family where she is treated as nothing more than chattel. But underneath the person her family forces her to pretend to be, there is a vibrant, strong person who is craving someone to explore her darkness with her. She's ready to embrace the darkness to find salvation.
The pacing of this book is great. The story is completely character driven with Evie's journey of escaping her revolting family becoming intertwined with Silas' mission to find his missing sister and disrupt and destroy a human trafficking ring.
I won't lie, I read this book for the dark romance and C.L. Briar did not disappoint 🔥 I couldn't put down this book because I was addicted to the spice! It was so well written and I was in Silas' chokehold. The things this man says will have you eating out of the palm of his hand. It is dark romance being explored so check the trigger warnings.
She'd look so f*cking pretty with my fingers wrapped around her throat, the brands inked into my skin forming a necklace just for her... Stop it, Silas. She's a f*cking virgin. A bible-reading, never stays up past her bedtime, good little girl.
"Careful, little fox," I murmur, my gloved hands gripping her trembling shoulders. "I like to hunt. And you're testing my limits of self-control."
You will eat this book up if you love: 🖤 Dark romance ❤️🔥 Love, lust and hate 🎭 Masked men 🏍️ Bike gangs ☠️ Jealousy and vengeance 🌶️ Dominant MMC
If you love a MMC who wants you to submit all control, this book is going to be your bible!
Thanks to Haus of Fables and C.L. Briar for the eARC and this is my honest review. I can't wait to buy the audio and listen to the story again!
Please check the trigger warnings before diving in.
Envy by C.L. Briar was one wild, emotional ride—raw, dark, and surprisingly healing. From the very first page, I was hooked. Normally, I steer clear of stories involving religious trauma, but this one handled it with such authenticity and heart that I couldn’t look away.
Evie, our heroine, is one of the most relatable FMCs I’ve read. Raised in a suffocating purity culture, she’s spent her life buried under shame and expectations. Her escape to Grace University feels like freedom—but it comes with an expiration date. When the semester ends, her family makes plans for her. And then there’s Silas: dark, broody, and absolutely off-limits. The kind of man Evie’s been warned about her entire life… and the only one who makes her feel truly alive.
Their relationship is beautifully balanced—a give and take between Evie’s quiet resilience and Silas’s fierce protectiveness. He’d burn the world to keep her safe, and she’s finally learning how to live without fear. Watching her step out of her bubble, fight her past, and choose herself was deeply satisfying.
This story is unapologetically dark, and it doesn’t pull punches. It explores shame, rebellion, and the messy process of healing after religious trauma. For anyone who’s ever felt trapped by expectation or silenced by guilt, this book will make you feel seen.
And that ending? I closed the book equal parts breathless, wrecked, and begging for more. Here’s hoping the rest of the Seven get their own stories—because there’s definitely more sin to unravel.
What to Expect: 🔥 Motorcycle Club 😈 Masked Men 💋 Kinks Galore 🏠 Found Family 💀 Seven Deadly Sins Inspired 🎓 College Setting 💸 Billionaires
Briar’s debut is dark romance at its finest—emotional, daring, and impossible to put down.
Thank you to C.L. Briar, the author, and the Haus of Fables team for the ARC opportunity!
“Feel no pain, grant no mercy, take no prisoners.”
Envy is dark, dangerous, and downright addictive. C.L. Briar takes the seven deadly sins and turns them into seven brooding, broken men who serve up their own brand of justice from behind their bikes. Leading the pack is Silas, the personification of Envy, and trust me, he is everything you want in a morally grey MMC. When he meets Evie, a sweetly religious and scarred woman desperate to take control of her life, things get explosive fast.
Evie is cautious but brave, taking her first steps toward freedom when she moves in with her new roommate Tempest. Then Silas storms in, all dark eyes and pent up fury, and suddenly Evie’s world tilts. He is a tortured artist with anger simmering just beneath the surface, and she might be the only one capable of grounding him.
I tore through this book. The balance of plot and spice was perfect. The tension was hot, the chemistry was hotter, and it still managed to keep a solid story running underneath all that steam. It is gritty, emotional, and full of found family and brotherhood energy that had me hooked from the start. Silas calling her “little fox” was such a refreshing touch. It fit her fiery hair, her instincts, and her need to run before she finally learned to stand her ground. The power dynamic between them was intense and satisfying, especially watching Evie reclaim her sense of choice and control.
If I had a gripe, it is that, a major plot moment fell flat and left me with more questions than answers. And that I would have loved some more back story about Silas and the other 6 brothers, but I am crossing my fingers that it is all setup for the next book. For this reason it gets a solid 4 but I can't wait for the next instalments!
Dark. Dirty. Sinfully good. Envy delivers on every level with just enough mystery to keep you craving more.
I think I was gifted this as an ARC but I can't actually find the email lol. Either way so grateful I got to enjoy this one.

Guysss the spicy was spicying🫦🤭🤭 I feel sorry for the fmc, for what she had to endure😭😭 why are men always the problem??😭😭 I cannot wait to find out more about the secondary characters 🤭🤭 there are a few i think may be a couple🤭🤭
ARC 📖 Envy Thank you Haus of Fables and C.L. Briar for the advanced readers copy!
For the last 7 years Silas has been searching for his sister Morana who was sold into a sex trafficking circuit and he’s so close to finding her. He managed to save his sister Tempest from suffering the same fate. He’s since then formed a group of 7 men, they call themselves The Princes of Hell.
Envy - Silas Pride - Erik Wrath - Marcos Gluttony - Bane Greed - Adrian Lust - Dominic Sloth - Noctis
Evie suffers severe religious & mental trauma. Her mother convinces her father to let her attend college and live on site for a semester. She’s basically been told as a woman she’s to be silent and pretty and meant to birth children and serve her husband. Along with a lot of other religious gaslighting.
“Churches are meant to be places of refugee, of peace and acceptance. I’ve only ever known them as structures of oppression and pain, symbols of a woman’s need to bow while men speak.”
Evie gets to live with Tempest and in return the 7 Princes of Hell and her eyes are opened to a lot. She no longer is living in black and white but a lot of grey…morally grey that is.
“Silas’s devotion to me is absolute. Maybe I did sell my soul to the devil, but if the promised heaven doesn’t have him by my side, I don’t want it. So I choose this life—this eternity—of love and delicious, beautiful darkness.”
This is SPICYYYYYY 🌶️ and Dark so check your triggers. It kept me on the edge of my seat! Like I had to know what was going to transpire! I had to know if Morana was living and if they were going to save her 👀
Silas is Envy personified—one of seven “Princes of Hell,” each named after a deadly sin. He’s ruthless, artistic, and broken by guilt over his sister Morana’s abduction years ago. When we meet him, he’s not a hero but a man using violence to punish the same kind of men who destroyed his family. His goal is to find and save Morana, but by the end of the book, he only uncovers that she’s still alive—held by a trafficker called Lucifer.
Then there’s Evie—a nineteen-year-old raised in an oppressive religious home, abused, silenced, and taught that purity equals worth. When she moves out for college, she finally tastes freedom… until she ends up sharing a house with the Princes. Her first encounter with Silas is pure chaos: fear, attraction, and danger tangled together. She’s a virgin, both literally and symbolically, and her sexuality becomes a battleground between shame and awakening.
Silas’s obsession with her is immediate, toxic, and magnetic. Their relationship walks the razor edge between destruction and desire—equal parts danger, control, and reluctant tenderness. When Evie gives in to him, it’s not just a physical surrender; it’s her reclaiming her body from years of religious trauma.
And then comes the twist: Evie’s father isn’t who she thought he was, and her stepbrother is far more involved in the disappearance of the girls than anyone realized. When Evie is kidnapped, all hell breaks loose—and Silas is there to make things right again.
And then we have Morana, hope the next story will be about her or maybe Tempest and Erik's? Who knows, but I can hardly wait for it.

If you like your book boyfriends morally black then let me introduce you to Silas in Envy, Book 1 in the new The Seven Princes interconnected standalone series.
If you are a fan of Dark Romance with Motorcycles, Masked Men, Obsessive/Possessive MMC, Found Family, Seven Deadly Sins, College Setting and so much more this one is for you!
In this story we meet Silas who is out for vengeance to find who took one of his sisters, he doesn’t have time for distractions until he sets his eyes on Evie and it is game over.
Evie, trying to get out from under her family’s religious microscope, starts attending college and finds a room for rent with her new friend Tempest but the day she moves in she knows she is in deep trouble when she looks into those green eyes.
Evie has never been able to live or think for herself but every time Silas tries to challenge her she fights him right back and she is a women after his own heart, he loves the fire she has. But Evie has a darkness that lingers and there is so much more pain in her past but Silas is quick to show her he will unalive anyone that tries to hurt her.
There is so much more to Silas than meets the eye though, he is driven by the need to find his sister but recognizes that Evie calls to his soul, she sees behind the rough exterior he puts up. When these two finally give in they sizzle up those pages and you see the lengths they will go to protect each other. I love the found family in this story and I can’t wait to see which sin is up next.
I am a SUCKER for books with religious trauma recovery. Anyone who grew up with insane purity culture nonsense will feel so seen with this one!
The story was a little predictable for me (I mean, we all saw that "twist" coming a mile away, right?), but I still had a great time! The character development and relationship development was great, and there's a lot crammed into a book this short. It's definitely fast paced and romance forward (in my opinion) compared to plot, but it really worked for the story that was being told here.
Being said, if you're looking for anything in the realm of realistic, you're going to be disappointed. There are a lot of moments where I was going, "Come on, really??" and they have never been caught based on the skill of their clean-up crew. Which was only ever referenced in terms of giving them a call to deal with it. It seemed kind of lazy (I mean, why weren't there any precautions taken when you know you're going to be murdering someone?? Like, at least lay down a tarp?) and relied a lot on coincidence (Mark just *happened* to be at the club they went to at that very same night? On top of several other things, you have to stop counting).
But if you can suspend disbelief and read for the romance/character development, you'll have a great time! Definitely read the TWs at the start of the book, because obviously it's a touch on the darker side.
Honestly, I'd love if each member of the 7 got their own book-They all represent a sin, and it has a lot of great potential to be an interconnected standalone series of them all coming to terms with it!
I picked up Envy with the promise of a dark romance filled with masked morally grey men, motorcycles, and plenty of mayhem… and it was all that, plus so much more! I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and am already dying for the next book in this series of interconnected standalones that follow seven men that perfectly personify the Seven Deadly sins.
In Envy, we met Silas, the leader of the Seven. Just like his brothers, he has a tortured past and seeks vengeance through fear, brutality and blood. That is, until her…
Evie has lived a sheltered life, controlled by the expectations of her family and her church. Fraught with her own traumatic past and religious indoctrination, she finds her true self in the most unlikely of places.
These two have the most sizzling chemistry right from the start, and it only grows as their connection deepens. Silas with his fierce protectiveness and unconditional love, and Evie, with her steadfast resilience and ability to bring color to his muted existence. Each able to offer the other what they so desperately sought- a light in the darkness. Safety. Love. Home. And can we talk about the spice?! The perfect mix of pain and pleasure that will have you seeing worship in a whole new light!
I also loved the found family with Tempest and the rest of the Seven and cannot wait to get their stories soon!
Holy rollercoaster. Hold on tight friends. This one will get you.
“Feel no pain, grant no mercy, take no prisoners”
With this line in the first few pages of the book, I knew I was in the right place.
Envy is a dark, motorcycle romance, with The Seven Princes of Hell personified in the men in this story. Each with their weaknesses, working in some vigilante justice.
Morally black MMC. Roommates brother. He falls first and hard. Trauma. Freedom. Paint. Bikes. Touch her and ☠️. Found family, on so many levels.
Evie. Sweet, damaged Evie. Lied to her entire life, about… well… life. She wants a change, and takes it, cautiously. But then she meets her new roommate, Tempest. Who is the absolute best. The BEST. Then, she meets Silas. Will he ruin her? Save her? Or will he be the one to save him?
Envy. Silas. Leader of the Seven. Morally Black, broken artist. Believing himself incapable of true feelings other than anger. On a violent, brutal search for something taken from him. With the Seven at his side, and now, Evie.
“Give me you pain, Little Fox” 🦊
I loved this book. The only thing that could have made it better is if I got about 400 more pages of this beautifully dysfunctionally functional family. I adore them all.
Thank you so much Cl Briar for trusting me with this ARC! 🖤
yall, I DOVOURED this book! The story took hold of me from the beginning to end. Don't get started on the spice...that took hold of me even more. 🫠🫠🥵🥵 Evie's story crushed me. ugh her family...if you want to call them that...truthfully they don't deserve that title, but anyways they are beyond controlling. Even her being in college....absolutely insane...especially who's even more on the controlling side of things. like excuse me, how could any mother allow that.. but seeing her slowly discover and embrace who she is. "darkness" and all...loved that for her. and Silas.... Silas, Silas, Silas. 🫠🥵🫠🥵 yup that pretty much explains him. 🤣 jk, but not. ohhhh man. think Zade Meadows...even right down to what he does...after people in the trafficking ring. he's on the hunt for his sister, and he won't stop at nothing.
not to mention the rest of the guys, Pride, Erik. Wrath, Mavros. Gluttony, Bane. Greed, Adrian. Lust, Dominic. Sloth, Noctis I'm already excited for each of their stories. immediately adding to my tbr.
the ending and epilogue....revenge was sweet. utterly intense and sweet. especially the hospital scene with the mom. 🤭 no...they don't unalive her....but the karma/revenge, was even better. 😅
highly recommend it, but also recommend you check tws. this has heavy topics.
🫶🏻🫶🏻thank you C.L. Briar and @hausoffables_pr for the arc.
Envy is a dark romance following Evie, a virgin girl whose whole life is controlled by her family. Evie's one chance at a taste of freedom is going to college, where she meets Tempest her roommate and the Princes of Sin. Nothing could prepare Evie for what's to come next when she catches the eye of Silas, whose Envy goes rampant when it comes to her.
Absolutely in love with this dark romance. It took a while for me to remember which man was with what Sin but absolutely had me hooked from the beginning! I am so excited to get more stories of the other sins. This was everything I was craving for in a dark romance. It was dark and smutty and had an interesting plot line.
I typically don't like the virgin fmc trope but let me tell you, I really like how this was done. I think the religious aspect shows the trauma and how Silas helps reframe her thoughts about it. This is how dark romances with topics such as these heals trauma. It was done in a way that shows that she really needed to learn how to make her own choice and actually have the guts to follow through with it.
If you are looking for a new dark romance with morally grey men, pick this up next!
Thank you so much to the author and Haus of Fables PR for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. All my thoughts and opinions are my own and left voluntarily.
For Evie, starting courses at Grace University was supposed to be a new beginning. Moving out of her oppressive family home is the first time she's been able to picture a life for herself. With tuition paid, and her roommate-turned-best friend secured, there's nothing to stand in her way.
Except for the Seven.
My brothers and I are the personification of The Seven Deadly Sins. We rule through fear and brutal, effective ruthlessness. I've never regretted my life of vengeance of murder and mayhem as I searched for my sister-until she arrived.
Evie has slithered her way into my bones and taken up residence in my marrow. I feel her there always taunting, tempting-fucking consuming-and just like that, I have a weakness. But I won't let the bastards take another person from me.
They say justice will be served in hell, but patience isn't one of my virtues.
Thank you to C.L Briar and Haus of Fables for this gifted eARC
This book definitely had you going if this is what happened to Eve when she met the serpent I don’t blame her for taking the apple. Chemistry between Silas and Evie was absolute fire both broken in different ways but so beautifully whole together. Plus who doesn’t love a masked, tatted, motorcycle riding man who’d burn the world for you 😏
