Saddles & Second Hearts: A Grumpy Single Dad Cowboy Romance

Rate this book
She won over my ranch hands, then my kid, and shattered my defenses. In that order.

I hired Laney Harper as a ranch hand, not to tangle up my rules or bulldoze my defenses.

She's all sass, swagger, and curves I can’t stop looking at. With a smile brighter than the morning light, and living in my bunkhouse.

She wins over my hands and son so fast that it makes my head spin.

She's setting fire to every rule I swore I’d never break.

Late-night campfires and horseback rides pull us closer.

She flips my world upside down with every smart-mouthed comeback. And every laugh shared under starry skies.

Her ex shows up wanting to burn her new start to the ground. Around here, loyalty means circling the wagons, and my protective streak kicks in hard.

I'm falling head over heels for her.

She’s the wildfire I never saw coming. I’m about to get burned, or claim the greatest prize of my life. Either way, I’m not letting go.

This is the type of romance that isn't easy; isn't instant and not necessarily guaranteed.
Laney arrives at the ranch in time to help Finn and kind of step on her new boss' toes.
Tate runs the ranch and retreat with his brother Tyler, adorable son Finn and a steady crew.
As Laney tries to earn respect from Tate they trade barbs. And Laney becomes Finn's hero.
As Laney and Tate try to deal with the new attraction, they must also deal with someone trying to sabotage the ranch.
Love the banter between Tate and Laney. Laney and Finn will steal your heart.
First time reading this author and will definitely read her again.

Every once in a while, a romance comes along that doesn’t just make your heart flutter—it kicks down your emotional barn doors and lets the storm roll right in. Saddles and Storms by Brandi Creek is that kind of story.

From the very first page, we meet Tate, a cowboy who lives by his own rules—steady, guarded, and determined to keep his world simple. But when Laney Harper shows up at his ranch, all sass and sunshine, simplicity goes out the window faster than a wild horse through an open gate.

Laney isn’t just another pretty face; she’s a force of nature. She wins over the ranch hands, melts his tough-as-leather exterior, and somehow captures the heart of his little boy too. Watching her breathe life and laughter into their world feels like watching spring finally break through after a long, hard winter.

The chemistry between them crackles like summer lightning—sharp, electric, and impossible to ignore. Late-night campfires, slow horseback rides, and stolen glances under the stars create a tension that’s as sweet as it is scorching. But when Laney’s past comes roaring back, threatening everything she’s built, our cowboy’s protective instincts ignite in the most heart-melting way possible.

Brandi Creek delivers a romance that’s rugged, real, and deeply emotional. Saddles and Storms is more than a love story—it’s about finding courage when life kicks up dust, about second chances and learning that sometimes the best things come when you stop trying to control the weather and just dance in the rain.

If you love strong heroines, loyal cowboys, found family, and a love that feels like home after a long ride, Saddles and Storms will sweep you off your boots and right into the storm.

Laney Harper arrived at the Mountain Tide Ranch Retreat just in time to assist with a horse. The Retreat is a working ranch which also accepts reservations from guests for the full ranch experience. With the horse as her only concern, she may have lost the job before being hired. Tate owns the ranch, living there with his young son, Finn, his brother Tyler and a permanent crew. Laney appreciates the family atmosphere as she works to prove herself to Tate. Soon there is something flaring between them, but Tate remains aloof as Laney becomes Finn’s hero. Tate wasn’t sure if Laney would stay, but now he is not sure what he or the staff would do without her. She is shocked when the man she ran from, who tried to control her shows up at the ranch…he shouldn’t have been able to find her! Tate vows to keep her safe as various malicious incidents begin to happen on the ranch. Someone is trying to cause problems for Tate and his ranch. Could it be another local land owner who arrives, occasionally, only to stir up trouble? Could it be her ex who is convinced she will return to him? When Laney lays her heart on the line, needing reassurance from him, will he realize that he might lose the only woman who means the world to him? Lovely, heartfelt western romance! “Saddles and Storms” by Brandi Creek

-A tender, rugged cowboy romance filled with heart, heat, and healing. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Laney’s strength and sass meet Tate’s stoic grief in a storm of emotion and redemption. Their chemistry sparks like lightning, but it’s the found family and quiet courage that truly shine.

A heartfelt, homegrown love story.

I absolutely loved this story. The chemistry between Laney and the rancher is chef’s kiss slow-burning, hilarious, full of tension, and incredibly sweet. Laney is strong, sassy, and impossible not to love, and watching her bond with his son made my heart twist in the best way. The ranch setting feels cozy and alive, and the protective, loyal cowboy energy is everything. A perfect feel-good romance.
