Quiet Night

Rate this book
A blizzard. A stranger. A night soaked in blood.

Aly Jo and her husband, Jason, head to the hills for a quiet Christmas getaway—just the two of them, a crackling fire, and miles of untouched snow. But the storm hits hard, faster than the forecast predicted, cutting them off from the world.

Then someone knocks.

A young woman stands outside asking for someone named Harley. Aly Jo insists there’s no one here by that name. The woman leaves, or so they think.

As night falls, the storm rages, and the power flickers, something begins moving outside the cabin. Footprints circle the porch. A shadow drifts past the window. A phone goes missing. And in the distance, somewhere beneath the sound of the wind, there’s laughter.

What started as a cozy Christmas weekend becomes a fight to survive as Aly Jo and Jason realize they aren’t alone.

The snow will bury the truth. The cabin will keep its secrets. And not everyone will make it out alive.

Did I just “read a horror movie?”..

This story definitely gave me “The Strangers” vibes. As I was reading this story, I was visualizing the lady from The Strangers asking “Is Tamara home.” Needless to say I really enjoyed this Christmas thriller novella. I went into this one blind, because I’ve enjoyed Elisa Daniel’s work and I don’t regret it. It brought all the traditional Christmas thriller vibes, creepy Santa, remote location, sudden noises, and a past that comes back to haunt you. Would recommend if you’re seeking a quick fast paced holiday thriller.

A short Christmas slasher with a bittersweet ending. I enjoyed the fast pacing and non stop tension, although the some of the protagonist’s choices were questionable.

Elisa does it again!
This chilling Christmas novella had my heart racing from the very first page. The atmosphere is perfection—icy, isolated, and absolutely pulse-pounding. Elisa builds nonstop suspense as a cozy holiday getaway turns into a nightmare soaked in snow, secrets, and blood.

From the moment the stranger appears at the door during a brutal blizzard, the tension never lets up. The creeping footsteps and the shadow outside the window—every detail had me glued to the pages and holding my breath. It’s a perfectly paced short thriller that delivers scares, twists, and that adrenaline-spiked “one more page” feeling.

A blizzard. A stranger. A Christmas getaway turned nightmare.

Aly Jo and Jason head to a remote cabin for a quiet holiday, but a sudden storm traps them. When a young woman appears asking for someone they don’t know—and disappears—things take a terrifying turn.

Their cozy weekend becomes a fight to survive as they realize they’re not alone… and not everyone will make it out.

This book was so thrilling! Wow what a nightmare! I cld not even imagine! Remind me to never ever rent a cabin in the middle of nowhere, around Christmas time esp if there is gonna be a blizzard coming!

This book had my heart pounding, the twists and adrenaline this book had, still has my heart beating fast and my anxiety going crazy!

It’s a fast read took me about an hour to read, but it felt like it took me forever with all the anticipation while reading! Elisa outdoes herself with every book I have read. Looking for a good Christmas thriller, this book is what you need!

Wow! Suspenseful holiday thriller that really takes a bloody turn! This was ACTUALLY creepy!! Totally loved it! Big horror thriller girlie and this was so good! Even for a novella! I ate this up super quick in one sitting and could not go to sleep until I finished it! Had total The Stranger vibes which is one of my must watch movies during Halloween! This was perfect with the Christmas vibe! After a traumatic past that has Jason hating Christmas, he and his wife Aly plan a cozy secluded getaway just for them. A storm hits leaving them trapped…… but they soon realize they might not be alone!

2.5 🌟 rounded up.

Whelp, guess I'm in the minority here.

This was an intense read and I was fairly intrigued throughout, but I was left frustrated with the lack of development. Although it was a short story, I really thought we would get more backstory and more time with the villains before the final conclusion. It just felt like we finally got somewhere good and then we sprinted through the finish line. A bit too rushed for my taste 🤷‍♀️

Overall, it was really just the concept of the movie The Strangers but if we were forced to make it Christmas-y 🎄 🎅 Ho ho.... ho?

This book was so good! Elisa never lets me down!

Jason and Aly decide to go away for Christmas because Jason had had a traumatic incident as a kid at Christmas time and hadn’t celebrated since. Aly starts to hear noises and see people, then Jason goes missing and bad things start to happen. I totally thought I had this one figured out and I should’ve known better that I hadn’t. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going on! It’s a short story, but an amazing one! Read it!

Quiet Night
~ Elisa D. Daniels

“La la la, jingle bells and fractured shells.......”

Daniels has created a nerve-wracking, suspenseful tale in Quiet Night that will grip you from the first page, keeping you on the edge of your seat and doesn't let go until the final sentence of the chilling epilogue.

Christmas is nothing but a haunting reminder of a traumatic childhood event for Jason, stripping the holiday of any joy. But his wife, Aly Jo, is determined to rekindle some holiday cheer with a secluded cabin getaway. When weather conditions begin to worsen, Jason is forced to venture out for supplies in case the couple get stuck longer than their original planned stay. While gone, Aly is unnerved by strange knocks, eerie noises, and the unsettling sense of being watched. Jason’s return with supplies brings short-lived relief – but the terror is far from over. Will they escape the cabin unscathed with memories of holiday cheer, or will Christmas remain a nightmare forever?

This gripping Christmas novella delivers relentless suspense and heart-pounding twists that don't stop. Daniels masterfully builds her characters, revealing their depth and vulnerabilities as the story unfolds making them feel more like close friends. Vivid, cinematic descriptions pull you into the eerie atmosphere, while unexpected turns keep you guessing about what lurks around the next corner – and why!

Perfect for those who crave a darker twist on holiday cheer, Quiet Night is the spine-chilling read to kick off your festive season. Pre-order now and brace yourself for a holiday scream!

Thank you to Elisa D. Daniels for allowing me to Alpha/Beta/ARC Quiet Night. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the author or publisher for a fair and honest review.

Quite Night follows Aly Jo and her husband Jason, who head to a cabin for a quiet Christmas getaway. Soon, a storm hits, and they are cut off. They are going to just wait out the storm. But then a young woman knocks on the door asking for someone named Harley. The woman leaves when she finds out that the person is not here. Well, that is what Aly Jo and Jason think. But it seems like she does not leave because, as the night goes on, they hear laughter. And soon they are in a fight for their lives.

This was a quick, entertaining short Christmas thriller. I was hooked the whole time. For a story that is less than 100 pages, a lot happened. I really enjoyed this one. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. I would highly suggest this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Talk about a Christmas bloody thriller 😳 This book had me clenched the entire time wondering what was next. I found myself trying to help Aly get answers to her questions as she tried to piece together the nightmare she was now living in. Nothing was making sense to her!! What started out as her husband's nightmare, has now become hers!! Christmas will never be the same!!

5 🌟 Review. Quiet Night, a Novella by Elisa Daniels.

Aly Jo and her husband Jason decide to spend Christmas alone in a cabin away from everyone - snow, a roaring fire, a few wines, and plenty of stormy weather outside. A perfect opportunity to just connect with each other. Jason is triggered by Christmas, a horrific event happened in his past which he'd like to forget. Aly Jo wants to form some new, happier holiday memories with him.

The storm worsens, so Jason quickly leaves to get supplies before they're trapped. A knock at the door scares Aly Jo, it's a strange looking woman asking for "Harley". Aly Jo informs her no one by that name is here so the woman leaves - or does she?

Jason returns and they settle by the fire. As the night goes on, it brings shadows, movement, and laughter outside. Aly Jo and Jason's quiet Christmas celebration is about to become a race for survival for some....

Will Aly Jo and Jason make it out safe? And, who tf is Santa?????

"Quiet Night" huh Elisa.... 😱😂.This story had me hooked from the beginning, it's full of suspense and nerve-tingling scenes that had me holding my breath.

Elisa builds the character's up slowly with her descriptive and vivid writing and kept me guessing until the end. My 'theories' were all over the place - and all wrong lol.

A twisted and terrifying Christmas Novella.

Thanks Elisa for another brilliant read, you are extremely talented indeed. I loved the acknowledgments too ♥️.

From the very first page, this short story tightens its grip and never lets go. It’s one of those reads that demands to be devoured in a single sitting—the tension compounds with every chapter, each moment more unsettling than the last.
What begins as a quiet Christmas escape to the mountains for Aly Jo and her husband quickly unravels into something far more sinister. The atmosphere is thick with unease, and just when you think you understand what’s happening, the story twists again. Nothing is quite as it seems, and the constant question of who—or what—to trust keeps the suspense razor sharp.
I was completely on edge until the final page, racing to see if they would make it out alive. A chilling, fast-paced holiday read that proves Christmas stories don’t have to be cozy to be unforgettable. Definitely one to add to your must-read Christmas list.

"Quiet Night" by Elisa D. Daniels is a suspenseful holiday thriller that takes a dark turn. When Jason and Ali Jo head to a secluded cottage for a relaxing weekend for the holidays, things quickly spiral into a nightmare. The tension builds, and the creepiness creeps in, giving "The Strangers" movie vibes. With its eerie atmosphere and unpredictable twists, this book had me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this one down. It had me locking my doors and the paranoia of never answering the door when I’m home alone. If you enjoy holiday thrillers with a chilling twist and suspense, "Quiet Night" is the perfect novella.

Great to read in one sitting!

The tension starts building right from the start in this short story. If you can read it all in one go, I think you'll get the best effect! The more you read, the more the tension builds.

Aly Jo and her husband go away for a peaceful Christmas getaway in the mountains but it turns into to furthest thing from that. Are things as they seem? Will they make it out alive?

I was on the edge of my seat right to the end. Add this to your must-read for Christmas list.

Merry Christmas 🎄

This is a true psychological horror. It will have your heart racing and palm sweating just a few chapters in. Not to mention the obsessive writing style it sooooo difficult to find a spot to stop, just like all of Daniel’s other books. The journey of blood and tournament she takes you on will take your breath away.

Dive in, if you dare. And if you do, you won’t regret it. Merry Christmas psychos

Quiet Night definitely did not turn out to be quiet. From the very beginning, this book creeped me out in the best way. The second half was so intense I actually had to take a break to calm my heart down (true story about my heart rate). It’s that good. You want to grab it for Christmas. For a short read, it’s one hell of a ride.
