She thinks we’re strangers. Doesn’t realize we’ve met before—back when things were quieter. Before I became what I am now.
I’ve been watching her for years. Waiting. Letting time rot while she turned sharp and soft in all the right places. I know what she’s running from. I know what she’s planning. And I know what she needs—maybe even more than she does.
Now we’ve both got blood on our hands, and secrets festering in the dark. The only way out is through.
R. Collins is a dark romance author with a passion for storytelling that began at a young age. A lifelong admirer of romance in all its forms, she is particularly drawn to the darker, more complex aspects of love—where desire, obsession, and vulnerability intertwine. Her writing journey started with poetry, where she honed her ability to capture raw emotions and complex feelings in every word. Now, she channels that same emotional depth into crafting interracial dark romance novels that explore intense, often forbidden connections between characters from different walks of life. Each story she tells delves into the depths of passion, the shadows of longing, and the unexpected twists that love can bring.
Burned is a short, breezy novella that left me wanting more. I really enjoyed the concept/hook of the story and the dynamic between the FMC & MMC was really engaging. Not to give anything away but there's a very fascinating mystery throughout because the MMC knows her previously but she doesn't realize how they've connected before. The transformation he and her have both gone through since they last crossed paths is extremely dark but seeing their secrets come to light while they avenge the injustice she has faced is thrilling from start to finish. Not for the faint of heart but plenty of spice for those willing to go on the rollercoaster. I can only hope that R. Collins expands this to a full length novel sooner rather than later because I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I finished it.
