He's grace incarnate in an F-22…and a fumbling mess around the one woman fated to be his mate. She's the bartender who's sworn off military guys for life. But when danger targets her bar, staying away isn't an option.Captain Adrian "Dancer" Landry can fly an F-22 through a thunderstorm without breaking a sweat. But the moment he walks into Mira's bar and their eyes meet, every smooth line he's ever used evaporates. His reindeer knows she's their fated mate. His brain knows he needs to tell her the truth. His mouth keeps producing catastrophically bad one-liners.
Mira Castellano has heard every line in the book from military guys who think a uniform makes them irresistible. She's built a life she loves, and she's not about to complicate it for a pilot with terrible pickup lines. Except she can't get Adrian out of her head, and her body's response every time he's near is making it very clear what it wants…consequences be damned.
But when Russian intelligence targets the bar, Mira realizes keeping her distance might not be an option anymore. Now Adrian has to choose between the secret that could send her running and the truth that might be the only thing keeping her alive.
Can a catastrophically awkward pilot and a bartender with ironclad rules break through to each other, or is the mate bond destined to fail?
Dancer is the first standalone romance in the steamy Shifter Santa Squadron series. If you like awkward cinnamon roll heroes, sassy bartenders who don't fall easy, and fated mate bonds that refuse to be denied, all wrapped up in a military found family, you'll love Isla Chase's swoon-worthy shifter romance with a guaranteed happily ever after.
I enjoyed the story however it felt like it left us with unanswered questions like why are they stalking/ analyzing the pilots and who is doing that. Also the claiming seemed extremely rushed. Who complains that someone is "lying" when they haven't even known each other more than a few days. Seriously who tells everyone all details after what 2 real conversations? Get real that's not lying or hiding that's barely talking let alone getting to know someone. If people expect full transparency that soon oh what a delusional world they live in!
This was. Real quick short read. While it did end in happy ever after, the danger continues in the next book. I assume we will not reach a conclusion until the last book. Not sure I liked it enough to continue.
This story has action, suspense, and amorous moments within a few hundred pages. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I look forward to reading about more of the crew.
I enjoyed this book. A short read but it had some substance which was nice. A couple of consistency errors but nothing that ruined the book. A nice take on a shifter book.
