Firefly Junction #20

Shock at the Sweetheart Ball

Rate this book
Firefly Junction residents are abuzz with excitement for the town’s annual Sweetheart Ball. Local reporter Sunni Taylor is both covering the story and looking forward to attending the dance with her own sweetheart, Detective Brady Jackson. Ruby Orson, a member of the city council and a local interior decorator, is in charge of this year’s event, and she’s been gathering a flurry of enemies along the way. When Ruby winds up dead, Sunni switches gears on her story. Instead of covering the event, she needs to find a killer. But Ruby has so many enemies, it’s hard to narrow down the suspect list.

In the meantime, so much is happening in Sunni’s personal life, she hardly knows which way to turn. The murder is important but not nearly as stunning and life-changing as the things happening back at home. It seems Sunni Taylor is about to start a very new chapter in her career and life.

The final book in the Firefly Junction Cozy Mystery series will leave you breathless!

I will admit to having a love/hate relationship with the end of a series. I hate to see a series end when I've enjoyed it as much as I've enjoyed this one, but I do love when all those loose ends get tied up. Not that there were a TON of loose ends here, but we got resolution on THINGS and YESSSS!

First off, Sunni is doing her thing and helping investigate an unexpected death. To be fair, the death might not have been THAT unexpected since the person who met their untimely end was kind of horrible. In every way. Which means there were a fair amount of suspects. While Jax is doing his official investigating, he and Sunni are comparing notes and sliding potential clues at one another for follow-up. Which is cute. Because the couple who sleuths together and all that.

That said, Sunni and Jax did hit a bit of a bump in their relationship. Of the "are things going to move forward" variety. Jax has some hang ups about Edward's presence. Sunni is a little miffed that the thought of them taking the next step seems to spook Jax. It's something they both have to deal with and they do. Eventually.

A little mysticism, a long-awaited meeting, some relationship shenanigans, and a really sweet ending. Like I said, I'm sad to say goodbye, but I'm happy with how everything turned out.

The end of a great series is always bittersweet for me, but I can't imagine a better ending than this one. There were so many emotions for me as I read through this book and even though the ending was great, I cried. The ending was along the lines of how I always thought the series would end, but better than I imagined. It was still a happy and sad moment for me.
I loved getting to catch up with everyone in Firefly Junction one more time. I've been a fan of this series for years and it has been my favorite series from London, and also one of my absolute favorites that I regularly recommend.

I thought the book was well written and I'm so thankful I got to see each character that I've grown to love. I stayed up late to finish this book because it was so good and I had to see what happened. I found the paranormal aspect in this book to be really interesting and unique, to me, at least.

It was really such a sweet and emotional moment. This series will be greatly missed but one I reread periodically. Thanks for creating such a fun world with great characters, London. This series has always been such a great escape for me. I am lucky enough to have received an advanced copy of this book; I've been a fan of London for years.

What a lovely ending to this series. It is truly bitter sweet. This was one of my first paranormal cozy mysteries and my first series I read by London Lovett. I have been reading their adventures for 6 years and I will miss them but I do think this was a really satisfying ending. We got our HEA for our couple and Edward. I am also glad we got both sisters in this story and her co workers at work, I would be sad not see the gang in our final volume. The mystery was kind of quick because of all the personal aspects of the story that were finished but I thought it was okay just not as many red herrings as usual.

Of her three series that I read that have ended (Frost Island, Port Danaby, and Firefly), this was the most satisfying ending in my opinion. Thank you London for the lovely ending I hope to read this again when my library gets it in.

I started reading this series on the recommendation of a book grammar and I was hooked from book 1. It is by far in my top 5 favorite series. London Lovett is in my top favorite authors.

I didn’t know how Sunnie, Jax and Edward would co-exist together and I felt they would always be stuck. Would they ever move to the next step?

This book wraps up all the questions and more. It’s wonderful and amazing! It makes my heart so incredibly happy!

The mystery, also amazing. London, you did it again!

Don’t wait on reading this book and all the books in the series.

What a fun series!

I have loved this Firefly Junction since book one ! Every time a new one was released', it was like visiting old friends again. Thank you, London Lovett, for sharing this sweet entertaining story and your talent as a writer. You write as like a paintbrush. I forget I am reading as I totally visualize each scene and if becomes more like actually being there. I will be rereading them for enjoyment.

Farewell

Sorry this series is ending. Think there are a few possibilities for continuation. Love the "family" and their closeness. Will miss them, they have interesting futures.
