Aelef
Aelef is an all-original fantasy world split in two by a magical barrier created during the Daemonic Wars, separating for at time the Daemon Lord and his minions and the peaceable races of the Paladin. The Paladin have vowed to fight the Daemon but have grown weak to infighting and the influence of the Daemon Lord seeping across the Barrier.
Stefan was largely clueless about the world, content to hunt and survive in the cold mountains with his guardian and father-figure, Cedric. That comes to a screeching halt when a Nephali--a soldier possessed of a daemonic spirit, appears chasing a Paladin. Stefan tries to hide but is discovered and nearly killed, only to discover he is able to separate the spirit from its host with a previously unknown and unique magic. He also discovers Cedric isn't who he thought he was. Cedric was a Paladin Magi, and more importantly, was the one who accidentally created the Barrier.
Cedric believes Stefan might be able to use his unique magic to defeat the Daemon Lord and maybe even bring down the Barrier. Stefan isn't sure, but definitely wants to find out more about his new power, and help those that have been taken by the Daemon Lord and forced into service. There's just one Stefan is blind.
This anthology contains the entire story, originally intended to be a five part series.
