When twelve-year-old Stacey’s mother, Nancy Jo Andrade, went missing, her world shattered. What followed the devastating discovery that Nancy Jo had been murdered were decades of painful uncertainty—her body never being found and her family’s relentless fight for justice by a system that faltered.
In this riveting and personal account, Stacey shares what it means to live in the aftermath of violent crime—not as a headline, but as a daughter, sister, and survivor. Through her eyes, readers witness the silence left behind, the ongoing battle with courts and sentencing, and the haunting absence of closure.
This book is not about answers—it is about the questions that never stop. It is about the weight of absence, the resilience of love, and the unrelenting pursuit of justice for those who can no longer speak for themselves.
For families who have endured similar loss, Stacey offers recognition and solidarity, as well as a collection of resources to help navigate the impossible journey of surviving violent crime. For others, this is an unflinching glimpse into the human cost of violence—a story that demands compassion, awareness, and change.
Stacey Andrade King’s story stands as both testimony and to her mother’s life, to the families forever marked by murder, and to the enduring fight for justice when the system fails.
Stacey Andrade King is a writer, speaker, and advocate for victims’ rights. Her first memoir, “Until She’s Found: A Daughter’s Journey of Love, Loss, and Justice Taken Away,” chronicles her decades-long fight for justice following the disappearance and murder of her mother, Nancy Jo Andrade. Through her website, NancyJoAndrade.org, Stacey continues her advocacy work and honors her mother’s memory by reuniting families with their missing loved ones, providing ongoing support after reunification, sharing resources for survivors, and promoting victim-centered reform that prioritizes compassion and accountability.
I received a free copy of, Until She's Found, by Stacey Andrade King, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Stacey's mom Nancy Jo Andrade was murdered when Stacey was twelve. This was a short read but it sure packed a punch. Nancy Jos' body has never been found. The justice system is betraying families instead of helping them.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. This a short book but it packs a punch. It's heartbreaking to read about what this family has gone through to try to lay Nancy Jo to rest and find justice served. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say it's very discouraging to see how the justice system can fail so much and how politics get in the way of justice. I think this would be a good true crime book if it told the whole story from before the resentencing.
This is a precursor - a condensed 80 page overview - before the author releases the full memoir. I do wish it had been the full memoir.
I will say the justice system is broken. Always has been. In this case, the fear that a murderer sentenced to life without parole, may actually be (and often are) released in the future, is very real.
Devastating. My condolences to the family and loved ones.
This is a very short read that covers the highlights of this story about the author’s mother and how she was murdered back in the 80s. King was only 12 at the time and had been living with her father and brother. A full length book on this story was mentioned, but I was unable to find it.
