Great story
I truelly loved this story, the main characters were strong and compatible. Loved their chemistry and loved the family story too. No complaints about this, this was an awesome read.

Quite the emotional Rollercoaster
It sucks to be the imperfect child that is compared to the other child their whole life. Her family can kick rocks. His family was amazing! I was with the fmc until about 50% of the story where she forgot what she agreed to by being in a relationship with a dangerous man. They had a conversation about it but she plumb forgot the terms of engagement and lost her mind and put herself in danger over some b$ involving her detached family. There's action and sexy times that don't disappoint. There's a later scene with a second confrontation with the brother that seemed to say in more detail what was said at the previous meeting. We don't have any proof there is real remorse from her family but it doesn't impact her decision in the end. Quick read.

I really loved this book. It was absolutely amazing my only thing I wished she would have got therapy. She asked for honesty and to never run away when times get tough yet she ran away each time she got scared and when her brother manipulated her. She's a therapist for crying out loud seek help you know you're stuck in your childhood and absentee parents issues 😅😅 The book was amazing. The family we're born into sometimes are the ones who hate us the most we don't get to choose them. We can however choose the family we will marry into and call our own

adorable
This was my first read by the author. I enjoyed the pacing of the story, the way the scenes were constructed and the vulnerability written in. The main characters were beautiful, vulnerable and it was refreshing to see. I enjoyed the mafia perspective. I will definitely check out more of her catalog.

This was such a moving story. Very well written. I probably will read it again. Makayla was vulnerable yet strong, and Damiano was strong yet vulnerable. They were perfect for each other.

Very Good
As a rule, I don’t normally care for Mafia stories, but this book had so much action and depth that I found myself thoroughly enjoying the characters and the entire story.

He was awesome. Just the man I would love to meet . Her family was absent and so unfeeling. The book was written so beautifully that I couldn’t put it down. Great read.

This was a cute 3.5 star read!
Lexi Johnson send new to me author and I really enjoyed this book! I’m on a mafia/dark/bully, reading kick, and I thought this was going to fit the bill. Well, it kind of fit the bill. This was more of a suggested, bully romance. The title made it sound like this was going to be in a possessive obsessive story, it had a bit of that, but it was more spoken than shown if that makes any sense. Our H cautious about what he would demand from our h. She held a lot of power in a situation that she should’ve had pretty much none in? So, that right there was a bit out of the norm for most mafia reads. She’s gonna do what I say, too, when I say, do it, and love every second of it!
I did feel for our h, Michaela really had a rough spin of the dice when it came to family. Her family was the worst! They made her feel like she was worthless, unloved, and unwanted. They did everything in their power to make her feel small.
Growing up, all she had was Domingo, the mafia boss, who was the best friend of her brother. Not sure how that relationship came about, it didn’t even seem like they liked each other let alone we’re besties so not seeing that connection at all unfortunately
This was a virtual voice read, so of course there wasn’t a whole bunch of emotion in an inflection, but still, I got the gist of the idea when I was listening to it. I think I liked it a bit more when I was actually physically reading it because I can add my own voice in my head that I felt a little bit better with the characters and made them seem a little bit more rough around the edges, dark, and gritty.
All in all, this was a fun break from the norm. Not what I was looking for per se… But still a decent read. I kept reading and was glad I did as a story turned out to leave MINI warm and fuzzies in the end!

The Baby Belonged, Loved and Protected!!!
This is an interracial love story of Makayla Hartwell, daughter of a wealthy, entitled family, who forgot that they're Black; and, the sister of Julian Hartwell, also entitled but who does business with mob families. Neither Makayla's family nor Julian realizes that she deserves love for who she is and not who they want her to be. Damiano Moretti, the billionaire mob boss who is a friend of her brother, has loved her since she was sixteen. He's the only one who really "saw" her and wrote her letters for eleven years when she was overseas attending college and getting a Master. The last four years she didn't visit so she didn't see her family at all.
When she was 27 years old, she returned to New York and a job. She thought that her family would finally see her and love her. She was wrong and turned to Damaino for comfort. This led to them giving in to their sexual feelings, an unplanned pregnancy and a complete break with her family.
The best thing about the book was the love that Moretti family had for each other and how easily they accepted her as part of the family. The means that Damaino went to protect Makayla was interesting and full of danger and excitement.
The sex was over the top erotic and exactly the same as the sex in every interracial book by this author that I've read. It could have been cut and pasted from one book to the other and simply changing the names of the characters. Even the order of sexual acts was identical in every book which was extremely boring. Because of this I probably won't read other books by this author, except for the one that I've purchased.

Ok read
I started the last book in, I guess this is a series, which I actually pause to read this one to see if there's was a fundamental difference in this author's writing style. The story with Nadia, seems to be a much more measured story(I'm about halfway done) for what I've read so far. Familial connections more intent. And though it's listed as a BWWM, the fmc is biracial, I guess because it's hasn't been exactly revealed how. This story with Makayla, when describing her parents, just as black but it came across not in a good way. In, Nadia story, how she spoke about her Russian connections was much more revered. This story, although, for me was an ok read, was written well. No grammatical errors and the story was a erratic at times....too rushed. Book covers are also an important piece in choosing to read this author in the first place. But this one is fine but with the next one is highly misleading being that Nadia is biracial and there's a dark skin woman on the cover. I kept mentioning the other story because I don't know if I will complete it or not because this author is new to me. I will really try but please, please have some continuity with the fmc in the story and the ones on the cover

2 1/2-2 3/4⭐️
New author to me. This book had a lot of potential, but the execution fell really short. Makayla as the FMC was annoying by the 10% in. Shes having unprotected sex with the much older, known mob boss Damiano off rip, gets rejected day 1 and accepts him back -wanting all that comes with “the life” with almost no hesitation as a non-criminal person. She came off clueless, immature and super naive str8 outta prep school even though she’s supposed to be a 27yo graduate degreed professional. Damiano (MMC) is described to be bffs with her brother, but we never see the connection or interaction to back it up. The MMC involves & tells her about a lot of very dangerous aspects of his crime life which doesn’t fit with a don’s mo, esp as a newcomer that is not crime affiliated, she “outside” free for a while until a threat comes shortly after the connect…there were a lot of things that just didn’t make sense for a don and his woman. While I like that she “grows” into some things eventually, it took a while before either character made sense. They eventually grew on me, but I was irritated & confused most of the book.

Makayla was an oops baby for her parents. The sad thing about it, they treated her like one. She never felt any love from them, not even from her brother. The only thing hat of her through I adding school was looking forward to receiving letters from Leone or "L" as Damiano would signed them. He was in love with a girl twelve years his junior and knew he must keep his relationship on a platonic level. But when she graduated from college and moved back to New York, all etc were off. When she ran to him after telling off her family. She was his to protect and his family made feel she was the part of the. Family is who you Choose, not necessarily blood.

We can’t always choose our family but we can choose the family we want in our lives!!!
The things we do for approval from people who don’t value us, we learn, we grow, we adapt. Some families don’t mean automatic love and loyalty , we might not get a second chance to have one. I’m happy Damiano was there to give Makayla that, even though she almost messed that up. Great read, emotional and heartfelt. Spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and entertaining. I love a man who would go all out for the woman he loves!! Can’t wait to see how the next book in this series plays out.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was awesome! I am glad that the main female character (Makayla) was able to stand up to her brother and parents. Her family were shameful in the way that they treated her! She had accomplished a lot and instead of being proud, they berated her! Anyway, I am glad that she is now happy with Damiano and his family. This was a great read!

Book is really good but does have consistency error . Page 130 Vic Romano ‘s father died a year ago when he took over . Page 202 forward Salvatore Romano is alive , is Vic’s father, is 72 years old and retired 5 years ago when he passed the reigns to Vic.
Also page 197/198 POV abruptly changes with no warning in the middle of the description from Damian to Kyla . It was confusing.
Overall I enjoyed the book .

it comes across as very unrealistic
She has tension within her family, falls for her brother’s best friend but you get no scenes where they were best friends with each other to establish that relationship. Her issues start or hit a catalyst when he was in his early twenties and she was in her young teens. Her expectations of his at that time seemed unrealistic and she never had that moment of clarity when she hit adult hood.

Tough and hot
My first time reading Lexi and will certainly not be my last . I am a Mallory Monroe do or die reader however l really enjoyed this book. Loved me some Mirror to hope l spelled close. Anyway can't wait for more from that family and to where the stars go A sequel? Boy or girl. e about Twins?

Well written
A few 🤔 moments then some 😳😤 moments cause how you demand a partnership and then do non-partnership things.
The drama was drama-ing.
My favorite part was the Morettis and the love shown.
