A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn

Rate this book
In the third book in New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray's Amish Brides of Pinecraft series, a wedding brings together two young widowed parents . . . and gives them a second chance at love

Emma Keim was heartbroken when her husband, Sanford, passed away, leaving her to raise three young daughters alone. Though several years have passed, her relatives have made it no secret that they expect Emma to remain a widow, mourning Sanford indefinitely. But when she meets Jay Hilty—a handsome widower with three young sons of his own—Emma is delighted to have a new friend who understands her struggles. Still, she is dismayed that her family is so opposed to their friendship—and the idea of it ever becoming anything more. She honors her husband's memory every day, but is she destined to be alone forever?

Emma's gentleness with Jay's boys stirs something in his heart that's been quiet for far too long. But when his oldest son becomes engaged to a local woman, suddenly Jay, Emma, and their children are swept up in wedding preparations. Witnessing his son's joy, Jay wonders if it's time for him to move forward, too, and find happiness again.

Once again, love has come to Pinecraft. But can these two parties of four become a happy, healthy family of eight?

Shelley Shepard Gray has done it again! What a wonderfully sweet, romantic, fun read!!! A return trip to Pinecraft, FL lets us catch up with old friends and make some new ones. There was an Amish spin on the Brady Bunch with an Amish widow with three young girls and an Amish widower with three boys. Add in one misbehaving beagle and laughs abound in this well-told tale of moving on while remembering the past.

I immediately felt connected to the characters in this book. They were so genuine and real it was easy to forget they were fictional characters. I soon found myself thinking of them as friends and wishing for the best for all of them. I really liked Emma and felt empathy for her as she tried to move forward with her life but met resistance from her family. And that Frankie....so easy to fall in love with him!

The descriptions of Pinecraft made me feel as if I had actually been there and was returning for a visit. It was easy to picture all of the places in my mind as I read the book. I love this about Shelley's writing. She can truly transport you to a different place.

This is a must read for fans of Amish fiction or anyone looking for a really sweet, romantic read.

Shelley Shepard Gray is a fabulous writer and one of my favorites. A WEDDING AT THE ORANGE BLOSSOM INN is exactly why I devour her books. I always feel good when I'm reading her stories. There are recipes included and to me, that is like an added gift. I always love returning to Pinecraft and this story was no exception. I love how Shelley keeps us up to date with our favorite characters and introduces us to new friends in each book in this wonderful series. The characters all seem to real and believable that you can't help but cheer them on as they try to put their lives back together.

This is my favorite book I've read this year.
I've been a huge fan of the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series and in this third book, I have become an even bigger fan!
Shelley Shephard Gray has created some of the most heartwarming and unforgettable characters that will make you laugh and at times make you cry.
Emma Keim and her three young daughters stole my heart from the very beginning, as did Jay Hilty and his three sons. Then there's Frankie! Frankie is without a doubt a sneak, a troublemaker and one of my favorite characters in the book. He's also a Beagle!

It's always a joy to return to Pinecraft and this time was no exception. I loved how Shelley effortlessly introduced new characters and still kept returning characters very important in the storyline.
I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed reading A WEDDING A THE ORANGE BLOSSOM INN and getting to know the cast of characters. There are several different romances in this one book and it was a guess who was getting married! Beverly and Eric who's been an ongoing romance since the first book, Emma and Jay who were the main, main characters, or Ben and Tricia who are a new young romance.

I enjoyed the dog, but think Emma could've solved all her dog problems by investing in a good leash, or even a crate! But Frankie was a dear even if he did love pizza, wedding cake, and pickles. Not necessarily in that order.

I enjoyed this series immensely and can't wait for the Christmas novella Ms. Gray is releasing this fall. Great story.

A Delightfully fun story with a very special lovable dog that takes center stage. This is a third book in this wonderful series. Although the books can stand alone. It is helpful to read them in order. Some of the characters are introduced in the first two books. One of the things that was especially wonderful about this book is the spiritual thread. I could so relate to praying before you speak especially in delicate situations. I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous books. I liked the story of Emma and Jay, but I didn't like the story of Ben and Tricia. I think it's because I like the former couple but not the latter. Also, I like that the relationship between Beverly and Eric progressed in this book. Although, I was hoping for more of their story in this book. The next one should give me what I want, though.

I was so excited to get the next book in the series to review because I loved the first two books a ton. A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn: Amish Brides of Pinecraft, Book Three (The Pinecraft Brides) by Shelley Shepard Gray was the next in the series that I was waiting for!! Beloved bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray returns with the third book in her Amish Brides of Pinecraft series—a story of second chances for two young single parents...and the wedding that brings them together.

Emma Keim was heartbroken when her husband Sanford passed away, leaving her to raise three young daughters alone. In the years since, her relatives have made it no secret that they expect Emma to remain a widow, mourning Sanford indefinitely. But when she meets Jay Hilty—a widower with three young sons of his own—Emma is delighted to have a new friend who understands her struggles. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s also handsome and kind. Still, Emma is dismayed that her family is so opposed to their friendship—and the idea of it ever becoming anything more. She honors her husband’s memory every day, but is she destined to be alone forever?

Jay knows that few people his age understand what it’s like to lose a spouse, and Emma’s gentleness with his boys stirs something in his heart that’s been quiet for far too long. But when Jay’s oldest son becomes engaged to a local woman, suddenly Jay, Emma, and their children are swept up in wedding preparations. Witnessing his son’s joy, Jay wonders if it’s time for him to move forward, too, and find happiness again. Jay wants to court Emma in earnest, but Emma’s relatives remain troubled by the prospect of her moving on. Once again, love has come to Pinecraft. But can these two parties of four become a happy, healthy family of eight?

I loved this book as much as the first two books. This quaint little Amish town set in Florida which is totally different then normally reading about the Ohio or Pennsylvania setting. The differences in the customs is fun to see. There are colorful dresses and flip flops that you don't see on the Amish in the northern areas. The interesting thing is when I read a book in those northern areas, people were pushing the people to marry again shortly after their mourning period but in this book, the family didn't want widowed Emma to remarry. All is revealed through reading the book and I know that you will be as shocked as I was to learn all of the reasons. Of course at the same time, I know you will love all the new characters introduced in this book. If you haven't read the other books in the series, this book does stand on its own but it helps to understand some of the other characters more if you have read the first two books in the series. I hope that you check out this book and the first two in the series and see if this isn't a fun Amish fiction series for you to enjoy. I know that I enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series!

I was so excited to get this book that I immediately sat down and began reading it. Pinecraft, Florida is definitely on my Bucket List, because each time I read one of Shelley Shepard Gray's novels using that as a setting, it makes me not only want to visit, but possibly live there. The characters she has breathed life into makes you want to see for yourself how hospitable, warm and loving this community of Amish truly is. While the place is real, we know that the characters are just the ones we have fallen in love with from the moment we began our journey in the Amish Brides of Pinecraft Series. A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn is the third book in this series. Welcome back my dearest friends!

Beverly Overholt, part owner now of the Orange Blossom Inn finds that her niece Tricia who has made Pinecraft her home for now, has begun a friendship with Ben Hilty, the oldest son of the Hilty family who was staying at the Inn, until the farm they purchased was ready for them to begin moving into. Now it seems she is hoping that Tricia doesn't fall to hard too soon for Ben as she is still dealing with her past that caused her to wind up with Beverly to begin with. Meanwhile Beverly is trying to sort of her own feelings with the new owner of the Inn, Eric Wagler, an English man who is attempting to sell his home so he can manage the Inn on a more permanent basis. For now, Beverly is in charge of manning it full time. How can she possibly have feelings for her new boss?

Emma Keim, a widow with three young girls is about to run into God's true destiny for her life, when a wayward beagle named Frankie, with an appetite for all kinds of food, but especially pizza, lands himself in a backyard pizza feast of the Hilty family. Her she meets Jay Hilty and his three boys who is also a widower and she finds that making a friend might not be such a bad thing after all. However when circumstances keep bringing the two families together, both of them feel a pull towards more than friendship as time wears on, especially since they witness the growing affections between Ben and Tricia. Is love once again in the air at the Orange Blossom Inn?

I received A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray compliments of Avon Inspire Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review, aside for a free copy of this novel, and the opinions expressed here are my personal honest ones. It will be hard to watch this series end because I feel like I have gotten to know each of these residents in a personal way through the sharing of their story in Pinecraft and their place in the community. Here is to hoping that not only Beverly and Eric fall in love as those daily phone calls seem to hint at, but also the love growing between Emma and Jay. Just like an Amish Brady Bunch as Shelley like's to refer to them as. For me, this is like a true homecoming each time I open these novels and thus the reason for my 5 out of 5 rating. I love savoring each story and this one was exceptional!

A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray is a sweet tale about new beginnings and the growth of an unexpected budding romance. Gray brings her readers another endearing Amish story that makes the plays a wonderful song on our heart strings. If you love all things Amish, weddings, and fun characters that fill the pages of a story then look no further than A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn.

My Thoughts

Shelley Gray is a splendid writer, and it is always a joy and pleasure to read her books. They always make me feel good when I'm doing reading. She provides a light read that is both funny, endearing and full of moments that are cherishing to read.

This story kind of reminded me of the movie "Yours, Mine and Ours" where the mother (in this book Emma) and father (Jay) both a significant amount of children find a second chance at love and from there try to figure out how it would be possible to bond their two families together. Basically, if you liked that movie I think you will like this Amish spin on it. This wasn't my favorite story by Gray but it was still sweet and endearing which is the combination Gray always delivers in her stories for her readers. So if you are a fan of Gray's stories be rest assured that you will get exactly what you want. I did like however how the children interacted with one another, and I loved the cute doggie that had a love for pizza. A dog after my own heart if you ask me. I did also like how Gray blended two different stories together. Her writing style reminds me of Susan May Warren where we as the reader get more than one story! Horray! We as the readers get to dive into the relationships of Jay and Emma and the love story between Jay's son and a local woman he meets when Jay moves their family to Pinecraft.

I love as a side note the recipes that Gray includes. I think she gets them from Amish communities that she comes into contact with when writing these stories? (don't quote me on it) Still, I love to add a new recipe to my newly born collection of recipes, so thank you Gray!

Like I said, it wasn't my particular favorite by Gray but I still think that it has good qualities and is a book that anyone of any age could read and enjoy as light read. I still am looking forward to any future books Gray will be writing soon! I still say give this endearing Amish love story a try especially if you love a good romance and oranges. ;)

Frankie! Oh Frankie! I find myself being thankful I do not own a beagle. Ha Ha! Frankie steals the show in the third book of the Brides of Pinecraft series. I think he is personally misunderstood but most label him as a trouble maker. He resides with widow Emma Keim and her 3 little girls Lena, Mandy, and Annie. Emma is busy taking care of her girls and baking treats part time for local inn owners so she doesn't have much spare time to take long walks. Frankie gets bored from time to time and decides he needs to take a walk. Those walks usually lead to trouble. How much trouble you ask? I'm not going to spoil it but I will say he finds more than his fair share. He also makes new friends while he's out and about like widower Jay Hilty and his three sons Ben, Mark, and William. He really liked them and not just because they shared their meal! We also get to see the romance of Tricia and Ben. Ben is Jay's son and Tricia's aunt Beverly runs the Orange Blossom in. It's not all orange blossoms for the couple but they fall head over heals in love and decide to get married. Not everyone is thrilled by this decision as we soon find out but I myself was rooting for the couple. Call me a helpless romantic if you will. All in all this is a great book that will have you laughing out loud one minute and your jaw dropping the next. This is by far my favorite book in the Brides of Pinecraft series.

I loved this book and got so involved in the lives here in Pinecraft Florida, a real renewal in relationships with promises of more to come. Yeah, there is another book coming real soon, October 13, 2015, A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft, only problem it is the end of this series.
We first met Tricia when she arrived unannounced at the Orange Blossom Inn, her Aunt Beverly is the manager there, and we find out about the hard time she had that made her leave her Ohio home and travel to Florida. She finds a new friend and some romance in a new arrival in the community Ben Heity, and although they are young, we watch the sparks fly. Will they each end up going their own way, or can they forge a new life together?
There is also Ben’s Dad Jay, he has been widowed and raising his three boys alone, and made a bold move and left his Amish community in Ohio and is starting a new farm in Florida. Fate or rather God has placed in his path a widow with three girls, and a sassy, destructible, and loveable beagle, which does his part to bring these two souls together.
Your in for a rollercoaster ride here, there are tears and some hearty laughs to be had, and the words fly off the pages, a real page-turner, and everything seemed so real, I had wanted a piece of that beautiful wedding cake!
I received this book from the Publisher Avon Inspired, and was not required to give a positive review.

The delightful A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn is the third book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish Brides of Pinecraft series, following The Promise of Palm Grove and The Proposal at Siesta Key. This novel focuses on two different romances - the second chance at true love for widow Emma Keim and widower Jay Hilty and the whirlwind romance between Jay’s eldest son, Ben, and the Orange Blossom Inn’s manager’s niece, Tricia. With plenty of humorous and heartwarming Brady-Bunch-esque moments, A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn tells a sweet story of overcoming the obstacles of the past and embracing new opportunities for love and happiness. Fans of the series won’t be disappointed with this third novel. It’s a quick and entertaining read that left me eager for the fourth one, A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft.

“A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn” is the third book in the series, Amish Brides of Pinecraft by Shelley Shepard Gray. Emma Keim and her three daughters are once again off in search of their carefree beagle, Frankie. He has a nose that can smell a pizza from many blocks away. The search for Frankie ends at the Orange Blossom Inn, where he has ruined a pizza that belonged to Jay Hilty. Jay and his three boys have moved from Ohio to Florida in hopes of starting a new life after his wife passed away. They are staying at the Inn, until their house is fixed up. Emma can instantly relate to Jay, being a widow herself.
There is a special connection that forms between Emma and Jay, but is it strong enough for them to let go of their past and look toward a hopeful future together? Or, is it best for them and their families if they remained friends? Through it all, God’s timing is perfect! This book is a delightful read and I definitely recommend reading it. The characters seem so real. They sort through a variety of emotions as they try to put their life back together after dealing with the death of a loved one. And, before the story ends, Frankie strikes again! That silly hound!

Let’s travel back to beautiful Pinecraft, Florida once again. I love visiting there and watching all the shenanigans of the resident’s pets. They are really quite funny. We’ve seen the trouble that pesky cat Serena has caused. Now she has some competition from a loveable, overweight beagle named Frankie. Frankie is hilarious!

Frankie belongs to widow Emma Keim and her three young daughters. He has a great love for pizza and somehow manages to escape the yard and always finds some.

Staying at the Inn is widower Jay Hilty and his three sons. They moved to Florida from Ohio and had purchased an organic farm that needed work. What were they having for supper one night out on the back patio? You guessed it, pizza…..AND Frankie found them!

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Shelley Shepard Gray writes in such a way that you get involved in the lives of her characters. You laugh with them, you cry with them, you chase their pets with them!

You’ll enjoy your adventure in Pinecraft and you’ll also want to find out whose wedding we’re going to at the Inn.

Shelley Shepard Gray did it again – she made me happy, made me sad, made me laugh quite a bit (oh Frankie!), and made me cry (several tissues alert). A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn is just the sweetest story taking place back in Pinecraft and at Beverly’s inn (or should I say Eric’s). Young love between Ben & Tricia, new love between a widow and widower, love of two overly concerned parents for their daughter, a very hungry and mischievous beagle, a frog, pizza, familiar faces from the other books in this series…all of this makes Shelley’s story come alive, and you are drawn quickly into that first chapter. You might want to make sure you have free time to read this without interruptions, because once you get started, you won’t want to put it down. Ask me how I know. You could read this as a stand-alone novel, but I think you should read the entire Amish Brides at Pinecraft series. You won’t be disappointed in the least.

The latest adventure in Pinecraft is brought to us by our beloved author, Shelley Shephard Gray, called “A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn: Amish Brides of Pinecraft, Book 3.” Pinecraft has brought us such special families and wonderful new friends. This book is no different. It reminded me of my favorite show growing up: “The Brady Bunch”. We meet two special families. Both have lost either a mom or dad and are struggling to overcome their grief and continue to raise their lovely families.

Having almost lost my husband recently, the book brought me to tears and reminded me to value love daily. It’s a blessing to have God give you a family once. Then, our author shows us how He can create love again, reminding us that all things are truly to be appreciated daily! I highly recommend you read the latest installment!

What a way to open a book. A beagle on the loose and what an introduction between a widow and a widower. Engaging from the first sentence. And not one but two love stories to savor. Pinecraft calls to my heart. What a wonderful place. The people all care about one another. For me, the best part is relationship development. As I get to know the characters, I feel as though I am part of something so very special. Life is looked at as "In God's Hands" and reliance on Him is best. No matter what, even a foodaholic beagle, can be dealt with even as the struggle is recognized. I absolutely love Shelley's series and this one adds much to it. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Every installment of Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish Brides of Pinecraft series is better than the one before! In “A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn,” we are introduced to Emma Keim, a widow raising three young daughters, and Jay Hilty, a widower raising three sons. Will Emma and Jay continue to hold on to their memories of the past, or will they be willing to trust in each other for a second chance at love? I love that this story focuses on the real difficulties of finding love again, and making time for dating, while facing the responsibilities of raising a family. And, of course, I fell in love with Frankie, the pizza-loving beagle! With just the right mix of drama and humor, “A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn” is an engaging story that will delight readers.

A Really Good Read!

Two lonely people- a man and a woman, both widowed and raising children on their own. This is a beautiful story of these two plus a romance with one of the children that turns into planning for their wedding. And as Emma and Jay start to take an interest in each other, Emma's family is very interfering. How true that is in today's standards. And that interference can work either way, towards or away from the person you cared about. Adventure with Frankie is hilarious since I found myself laughing at his antics! I loved this third book in the series called The Pinecraft Brides. A really good read!

A wedding at Orange blossom inn

Absolutely amazing
Don't wait another minute to dive in to this book! As you might already know the orange blossom is one beautiful place and even prettier decorated for a wedding. You will meet Emma and Jay and their kinner, you will get to visit with Beverly and Tricia and lots of others. You will meet one character in particular named Frankie. Frankie is a bit ornery but one can't help to fall for him! Shelley puts her heart in all of her books and this one is no different. I think one thing I will take away from this amazing story is to remember that love never fails-love wins every time!

It is truly a joy to see how much love and excitement Shelley Shepard Gray can pack into each book. By now we all love returning to Pinecraft to see what her characters are up to.
Emma has very real feelings to explore as her relationship with Jay and his three boys continues to evolve. However she faces opposition from her family. Other relationships are also growing! The animal pose both difficulties and add spice.
I love the way her characters interact and their lives are woven together, this is small town living at its best!
A great feel good book you won't want to put down.

This is the third book of the series, and the Orange Blossom Inn is once again the place for intersecting lives in Pinecraft. Widower Jay Hilty and his four boys are staying at the Inn until their new home and farm in Pinecraft is ready to move into. Jay's oldest son begins to show an interest in Tricia, the niece of the inn's manager, Beverly. While eating pizza on the back porch of the inn, the Hilty's have their dinner interrupted by a pizza thief - Frankie, a beagle owned by widow Emma Keim and her three daughters. When Emma and her daughers arrive to capture her dog, both families meet. Emma believes it's just a meeting of a new family in town and thinks nothing more of it. Afterall, both her parents and her in-laws expect her to remain a widow the rest of her life. However, the more time Emma and Jay spend together, the more Emma and Jay realize how lonely they are and wonder if they both should reconsider their futures.

This is a wonderful of first love and second chances.

A Wedding at Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray is a sweet and fun story. I enjoyed returning to Pinecraft, Florida where we got to catch up with Beverly and the other characters from the first two books in Amish Brides of Pinecraft. We get to meet Emma, Jay, their kids, and Frankie. Frankie is a beagle with a penchant for pizza. He is quite the escape artist. Frankie adds plenty of humor to the story. There are three romances in this story. I like that the couples are from different generations. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow emotionally and spiritually. Faith is nicely woven into the story. A Wedding at Orange Blossom Inn is a charming tale that had me smiling as read the last page.

This is another solid, enjoyable read from Shelley Shepard Gray. It's the third book in a series, so the characters are all familiar, but is also a great read as a stand alone book. Although you can predict the outcome of the story from the title, there is still plenty to learn from the many characters along the way. Fans of the Amish culture in Pinecraft, FL will love the setting and familiar landmarks throughout the story. Overall, a wonderful, feel good story to keep you reading until the end.

I read this on the Kindle

This is 3rd book in the series

i enjoyed the book but do get very frustrated/annoyed with Beverly because her fiancee broke her heart by leaving her & marrying her best friend she thinks everyone should be guarded & take ages to know the man but she had known Marvin for years so that don't work
Love Frankie the beagle in the book it a nice book to read

This is second trip through the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series with Shelley. I loved them the first time and they are just as good the second time around. If you enjoy Amish fiction, you will enjoy this series.
