Michael Moreci is a bestselling comics author and novelist. His original works include the space adventure novels Black Star Renegades and We Are Mayhem, as well as the comic series Wasted Space, The Plot, Hexagon, Curse, Archangel 8, and more. The Plot appeared on numerous best of 2019 lists, and Wasted Space has been hailed as one of the best comics of the past decade. Moreci's comic trilogy Roche Limit was called one of the best sci-fi comics of all-time by Paste Magazine, and Black Star Renegades was an Audie Award finalist for best sci-fi of 2018.
Moreci has also written for Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and the DC universe--including the YA graphic novel The Lost Carnival: A Dick Grayson Story. He's also adapted Eoin Colfer's bestselling Artemis Fowl series into graphic novels.
Michael Moreci once again captures the exact voice and chaotic squad dynamics of Clone Force 99. Set during the Clone Wars, the premise follows Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech on the trail of a missing Separatist scientist, only to collide with a squad of disillusioned rogue clones pursuing the same target.
What elevates this beyond a standard mission-of-the-week romp is the dynamic between the two clone factions. Pitting the Batch against fellow clones who chose defection adds genuine thematic weight, neatly foreshadowing the loyalty crises and expendability themes central to the animated series. The character banter is spot-on—Tech and Crosshair particularly shine—and Reese Hannigan’s kinetic linework keeps the firefights and set pieces punchy.
The macguffin chase resolves a bit abruptly across its four-issue span, but it’s an energetic, visually sharp Clone Wars adventure that fans of the animated show and casual comic readers alike will breeze through. An easy recommendation for YA graphic novel collections and Star Wars fans missing Clone Force 99.

When the nicest thing you can say about a book is 'at least they didn't shoehorn in some of their new IP, I mean characters' it's not going to be a good read.
