Quick Summary: A high school-themed WEBTOON comic

My Review: Operation: True Love, Vol. 1 by kkokkalee with Dledumb is a "WEBTOON Unscrolled Graphic Novel." It is scheduled for its U.S. release on 7/28/26. "This volume collects episodes 1 to 10..."

About the Book: "...high schooler Su-ae...discovers that Jellypop, a flip phone stored in her locker, is sentient—and Jellypop has a lot to say about Su-ae’s love life.

It’s up to Jellypop to help Su-ae navigate the peaks and pits of teenage love, and finally get the high school love story she deserves!"

In My Own Words: A young girl loses herself in hesitation, heartbreak, betrayal, and a mysterious flip phone with an unknown origin. As she tries to figure out what she wants, an unexpected triangle happens upon her.

My Final Say: This was so my speed. I love a good story, and this one was that!

Su-ae is an interesting character. She is learning to find her way. Although she is timid, lacking in emo-bravery, and hesitant to confront what needs to be confronted right now, she still has a forthrightness about her. I can foresee change coming for her.

AND... that cliffhanger - BOOM! + Duh duh duh. The next volume cannot get her fast enough. I liked this volume so much that I may take a stroll through my Webtoon. Let's get it!

I’m not even going to pretend I’m better than this. I requested this ARC because of the cover. Yes, I judge books by their cover. Yes, I have zero shame about it. The expressive illustrations and soft color palette are so pretty I just can’t say no.

The plot is entertaining in that dramatic, slightly unhinged way that I absolutely thrive on. Messy relationships. Emotional chaos. Questionable decisions. Also, I have so many questions about that Jellypop phone. I need to know more about it.

Now, Su-ae. I kinda like her. I do. But I also want to wake her tf up. The bar is in HELL. Why are we still tolerating this sorry excuse of a boyfriend??? I was sitting there like please… PLEASE stand up. And if I were Su-ae, I would definitely kick Ra-im back to the streets. No second thoughts.

Eunhyeok, did you know that showing emotions is NOT a crime? I like my men a little mysterious, a little morally questionable, sure. But this is emotional hide-and-seek. Stop giving my girl mixed signals before I personally intervene. But do I still like him? Unfortunately, yes. Maybe.

I haven’t read this on Webtoon before, but I just KNOW that Dohwa is about to be important. There’s something there. I’m seated and ready for whatever chaos he brings in the next volume.

Minu and Ra-im. You will not be missed. Exit stage left. ShiBYE.

Overall, this was a dramatic and entertaining read. I’m invested, I’m curious, and I will absolutely be continuing.

3.5 rounded up to 4 on Goodreads.

Su-ae is the embodiment of a struggling high schooler who desperately wants the romance she’s read about in so many books. Stuck in a one-way relationship, Su-ae is seemingly content in an unhealthy cycle.

When she discovers a sentient jellyphone that has several remarks to make about her toxic relationship, Su-ae begins to take a second glance at who she is and what she wants in her life. With a (slightly tragic) romantic high school comedy setting, this will be a fun read for anyone who likes to see an underdog (eventually) win.

The reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because it took me 20-30 pages to really get into the story. I also haven’t seen much of the supernatural element that’s a huge trademark for this series, though this is only volume one in their defense. I also struggle to see why Su-ae so willingly stays in an unhealthy relationship even though she knows her feelings are not reciprocated. Yes, it is explained a bit, and yes I may just be a bit of a cynic, but it still has me a bit confused. Regardless, a fun read and I plan on continuing the series as more volumes release!

Operation: True Love volume 1 is a romantic drama with supernatural elements. It follows Su-ae, a high school student whose life takes a turn after she discovers a flip phone that sends her mysterious texts about her love life. Her relationship with her boyfriend feels less than ideal, as he lacks consideration for her, and her step-sister is getting too close for comfort.

What I enjoyed about volume 1 is that it sets up a mystery surrounding the phone with many questions left unanswered that makes me want to keep reading. Her relationship dynamic already feels frustrating in a way that pulls you in to see it resolved. I also liked being introduced to the other male leads early on since you can tell they’ll play a bigger role later. And of course, the art style is pretty, I love the color palette and overall vibe of it.

This story is perfect for those who are interested in high school drama and romance! It sets up the story for some angst in the future.

I’ve also read the webtoon version and enjoyed it, so I’m excited for the release of volume 1. I love the cover art!

Operation: True Love, Vol. 1 by kkokkalee & Dledumb - Mild spoilers The art for this manhwa was gorgeous; the characters’ emotions were beautifully conveyed in every scene. The story itself was very juicy and dramatic, but I was disappointed in the way the author used the mysterious cell phone. The opening few pages made it very important and intriguing, but it rarely appeared in the rest of the book. Admittedly, this book only collected the first 10 chapters of an ongoing manhwa (138 chapters and counting) but in 300+ pages I had hoped for more supernatural action. As it is, this book is a great story for dishy teenage angst & first love/heartbreak fans.

Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the advanced reader’s copy!!

Notes:
-Manhwa
-Full color
-138+ chapters (13 books’ worth of content) available on Webtoon
-High angst high drama
-Focuses on one character
-Cliffhanger

I will admit I saw these gorgeous webtoon going around for the longest but never got the chance to read it myself. I finally got the opportunity and it’s not what I expected, now i know why it’s titled the way it is lol. The art is absolutely beautiful and apparently it gets even better throughout the story, sign me up now! The story though is… invoking to say the least. The cliffhanger didn’t help at all because the amount of times I wanted to jump through the screen to slap some sense into su-ae is insane, I’m trying to sympathize but even I can’t do what she’s doing 😂. Minu would’ve been gone and Ra-im would be for the streets. I do give props where it’s due because I want to know what’s going to happen next and I can’t wait to find out so that means I got to lock in for the ride. Thank you Netgalley and Webtoon for the arc, all opinions are my own.

After Su-ae mysteriously finds a jelly pop flip phone her life turns right upside down. Her boyfriend and Sister are not who they seem. The boy who has always seen here with pity is shown in a different light after witnessing something that breaks her heart.
Su-ae and Eunhyeok both seem to be running more into each other and may share a common feeling that makes them understand each other while still seeing not being friends.

Operation: True love is a favorite. I forgot how hard it was to read these episodes but getting it I. One volume leaves you with enough to keep an open mind for the future volumes. I can’t wait to have a copy at home and to keep sharing my love for it with others !

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for this e-arc for review!

Read this on Webtoon years ago, so this was a fun re-read for me and can't wait to add this to my physical collection later on when it releases.
Protagonist finds out her best friend and boyfriend are not as they seem and she has a jelly pop flip phone that's judging her as she doesn't confront them and such. With the phone, she's able to see how much love one is destined to receive in her lifetime, but when viewing her own it shows zero. Will our protagonist ever receive love or is she destined to be alone forever? It's worth continuing to find the answers!

I received this arc of volume one of the webtoon Operation: True Love from NetGalley!

And I’m OBSESSED! The drama in this webcomic had me on edge to know what was going to happen next. I love Su-ae and everything about her character and silliness.

I’m obsessed with this concept of having a sentient flip phone and it using its power to peak into Su-ae’s love life as a teenager in high school. I also adore the fact that the flip phone is…PINK!! (we love a pink phone for real)

This webcomic is perfect for fans of romances and supernaturals put into one! I cannot wait to continue this webcomic!

I’m such a sucker for Webcomics like this one. The drama, the catching of feelings, the angst! For the first half I just wanted to smack Su-ae in the right direction and punch Minu. Then the betrayal!! But was it betrayal? I don’t know yet. It’s a mystery. But Eunhyeok? He’s the fix, and I’m hanging in for dear life for Su-ae to WAKE THE HECK UP.

Vol 1 doesn’t cover much regarding the magic Jellypop phone, but we know by the end that something is up with it and we are left wanting more of all of it! 🔥💗

Thanks to NetGalley and WEBTOON for the advanced ebook copy in exchange for a fair and honest review!!

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I honestly quite liked this book! It was short and fun. It was dramatic and I definitely want to read the next one. I think this first volume set up the story really well where I have a lot of questions about the phone and the messiness of the relationships that I want to see where the story goes. I also really enjoyed Su-ae’s character. I thought she was quite quirky but at the same time I do need her to realize who she has in her life and start cutting people out.

Overall, I really enjoyed this first volume and want to continue the rest!

I remember reading this on the Webtoon app, and I can finally hold a physical copy!

Su-ae is a teenager in high school, in a relationship with Minu. When she encounters a mysterious jellypop phone that shows you how many true loves you will have. For Su-ae its 0/0. What could this mean? Along with the true love tracker, she is getting texts. The art in this is beautiful, and slightly whimsical and as the series continues it only improves.

There is alot of funny moments along with angst, betrayals and if you can handle it a love triangle in this series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Webtoon for the arc.

I received an ARC of Operation: True Love thanks to the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

There is so much room for character growth in this series and I am super excited to watch it unfold. I am frustrated by the very abrupt end but it does have me wanting to read the next volume ASAP so if that was the goal, nailed it. I can't tell if I like any of the character so far to be honest, but I am invested enough in their growth and the potential for romantic relationship development that I plan to stick around.

it was cute, but also really sad that girl needs to stand up for herself. The ending was annoying though what a weird place to leave off, but I cannot wait to see what’s next.
