I was raised by eccentric, globe-trotting parents and growing up, I called both Spain and the USA my home. My grandfather would spin the most incredible sagas during the time I spent with him in the Hollywood hills as a young child. From there, I began to see the world and the people in it as a huge opportunity to learn life stories from others.
I've been a storyteller in my family since my children were babies. The arrival of my first grandchild was the inspiration I needed to put one of my stories into print. It's been amazing to see my protagonist grow and thrive as my book developed.

You don't need to be perfect

I borrowed this book thanks to my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I read it on my tablet using the Kindle app.

This is the story of Solace, a fairy, and all fairies are products of the imagination of a creator. The problem for Solace is that she is not an ordinary created fairy like the rest. She starts a quest to meet her creator in order to convince him to make her more fairy-like.

Solace meets friends during her quest, and the world-building that the author creates is amusing and equally rich. The companions of Solace provide the perfect balance for her story, and the final meaning of the book — that perhaps you don’t need to seek change, because being as lovely as you are is simply perfect — is a very beautiful message.

Although this book may be aimed at younger readers, I’m sure everyone will enjoy this story. I really had a great time reading it.

Solace's Engrossing Journey

I found this story very engaging, and it held my attention throughout. It's not only a saga of Solace, the fairy, but it is a story of how one can lead a life of courage and bravery.

Solace is uncomfortable with her creations. Her tail, her wings, and her overall look. She fears whether she will ever find a permanent place in her universe, which is full of beautiful fairies.
So, she travels to find out her creator to question him and possibly insist on changing her appearance. On her way, she encounters several challenges that she overcomes with the help of an angel, Zephyr.

She will meet a Godmother, Allura, who has more magical powers than Solace does. Working together with both of them, Solace will find a unique solution to the conflicts between humans and the dragons, whom Aldreth heads.

However, Solace remains concerned about her quest to meet her creator. Will she finally find them? Will she stick to her decision to transform herself into a beautiful fairy? What hurdles do Solace, Allura, and Zephyr face before making everyone's life comfortable?

The author Isabella narrates this engrossing story with a brisk pace and unique settings. The characters are well-developed and three-dimensional, making them easy to connect with.

I highly recommend this book to both fantasy and self-help readers who enjoy life lessons while reading the fairy tale.

An unusual wonderful portrayal of all creatures, mortal and immortal, who learn respect and care for each other. Solace is a very sad fairy who felt like an outcast because she didn’t look like the other fairies. She didn’t care for her red hair, freckles and big tail. So she searches for the great imaginator to change her appearance. Even though she felt unattractive and unaccepted in her fairy immortal world, she has a kind helpful heart who helped save a child’s life from drowning, etc. She became human when she needed to be, which was of interest to her and other immortals to learn human behavior. I enjoyed wise powerful Allura, who ruled with a strong knowing kindness, especially with her words; “You know what they say, pride goes before a fall. Sometimes it is necessary for a leader to be harsh in order to prevent small transgressions from escalating into big ones that could endanger the whole.” And then there’s good ole Aldreth the dragon, even with his loss and grief defines the saying “Life is change. Nothing and no one remain the same.” Solace finds who she was looking for who was more than what she bargained for. What really stood out for me in this book is the abilities of fairies to transport in time, and healing horrible traumas by making humans, and other creatures forget them.

This story follows Solace, a fairy who was clearly imagined by someone with a wild sense of humor. She comes equipped with a massive tail, a stubborn streak, and a personal mission to track down her imaginator and get a do-over. The setup alone is quirky enough to hook you, and the execution mostly delivers.

Solace is easy to root for, mainly because she’s the kind of character who barrels ahead even while convinced she’s fundamentally wrong. Her self-doubt feels real without sinking the tone. The worldbuilding straddles whimsical and chaotic: cranky dragons, a godmother, time mists, and a pirate who feels like he strolled in from a different book but in a good way.

The pacing sometimes wanders, and a few plot turns feel more quirky than cohesive. Still, the emotional through-line hits: Solace learning she might not need to be “fixed” after all. Her companion Zephyr adds warmth and gentle pushback, and the overall message about belonging is clear without being syrupy.

This is a heartfelt, imaginative adventure that works for older kids, teens, and even adults who love misfit-hero stories. If you enjoy whimsical fantasy with humor and a touch of emotional ache, this one is worth the read.

SOLACE: A FAIRY'S TAIL by Isabella Roy is a really enchanting and engaging story. It is amusing, as you might expect from the title, and also fresh and creative! This is so suited for early teenagers who always seem to think they are out of step with the world and not quite right. Solace, who is a wonderfully independent thinker, feels something of an outsider. Like the Ugly Duckling, she does not look quite right. To put it in her words: “Every fairy in the kingdom conforms to the fairy standard, small and delicate, with just one set of translucent wings. I, on the other hand, have red hair, freckles all over, I’m a disgusting four feet tall, with huge elfin ears and a giant double set of wings like a butterfly.” She regarded her wings, which were iridescent green with scarlet edging.” However, with all good tales, she has an adventure in front of her and what characters she meets along the way! I read this to my grandchildren, and although I thought my granddaughter would prefer it to my grandson, they were both equally engaged! So was I!

What a great and clever name for this book! A Fairy’s Tail is a sweet and easy-to-follow fantasy story that focuses on Solace, a fairy who doesn’t feel comfortable with how she looks. I enjoyed how simple and clear the writing was, and the story kept my attention the whole way through. Solace’s journey to find her creator makes the book feel like both an adventure and a personal mission (something I think many can find themselves in!) and I liked how it shows the idea of wanting to belong while also learning to accept yourself.

Along the way, Solace meets different characters, who add a nice mix of support, magic, and friendship to the story. The world the author creates is fun and imaginative without being hard to understand, and the challenges Solace faces feel meaningful without being too dark or complicated. The pacing is steady, and the characters are written in a way that makes them easy to connect with. If you love fantasy, this book is a great read for young and old.

Solace: A fairy’s Tail is about, well – a fairy’s six-foot long tail that changes color with her mood. It has a beautiful color and an engaging, imaginative and fun story that will appeal to young readers.
I liked the writing: it felt fresh and original, and I read it out loud to a small child with giggles galore.
A minor niggle is the overuse of apostrophes !!!!. Sometimes there were dozens to a page on Kindle. For example, “Pipe down, private! You’re all a bunch of snively crybabies! We are not going to die! Unless I kill you first!” Once I noticed this, I couldn’t unsee it. And some of the word choices might not be readily understandable for young readers such as “overly effusive”, “genderless”, “conundrum,” “bedlam” – words that might better suit a young adult novel. The author introduces the idea of a Hungarian King – which suggests young reads know what Hungary is (most young kids in America will not know this). Some context or examples for these unfamiliar words could help.

A Heartfelt tale about fitting in.

Solace a fairy ‘stale is a very well thought out book, with a really engaging and entertaining story, I am glad I gave it a try and I am surprised it does not have more reviews for how good it is. The characters are great and well adapted and fit their purpose in the story well.
It is not overly long which is a blessing, we all hate when a book drags on for no particular reason and this does none of that. It is a great story of how the person who does not always fit in can be much more than they originally think, but told with a fantasy fairy tale. It is a fantastic story that will have you turning pages until the end.

I personally think it is fun for all age groups and would also be a great story to read to kids and especially teens who may be going through that time of their life where they feel they are different, wrong or do not fit in.

A Very good book and I Highly recommend it.

Solace: a fairy’s tail is a gentle, imaginative story about belonging, self doubt, and learning to see yourself differently. Solace is not the kind of fairy anyone expects. Her tail makes her stand out, and not in a good way, which sends her on a journey to find the person who imagined her and ask to be changed. That idea alone is creative and surprisingly thoughtful, especially for younger readers.
What really worked for me was the emotional core. Solace’s belief that she does not belong feels very real, and her interactions with the characters she meets along the way add warmth and humor to the story. The world building is playful without being confusing, and the adventure keeps things moving without becoming overwhelming.
The pacing felt a little uneven in places, which is why this is not a full five stars for me, but overall it is a sweet and meaningful read. It carries a kind message about acceptance and would be especially enjoyable for kids who love fairy tales with heart.

Solace is a lovely little story about a fairy who goes on a journey to remake herself and stop being a misfit. There's an internal logic and 'mythology' for fairies and other creatures. I especially loved the discussion of the dragons and maidens. The discussion about the value of mortality is also provocative .

I'd recommend some editing, including the paragraphs of dialogue succeeding each other by the same character makes it harder to follow. This could cause some readers to lose interest, which would be a shsme.

The story is cute, but takes on some grand themes such as bias, prejuduce, violence, justice, suffering, grief, fear, wrongdoing and purpose, to name a few. One terrific theme is that of the power of creativity, but also the importance of employing it responsibly.

This story would be good for children and adults. I enjoyed it thoroughly

A charming and captivating story. Unique in the world of fairies, Solace, who unlike her peers, sports red hair, freckles, large ears, and two sets of wings—embarks on a quest to find her creator and be reimagined. Along the way, with themes of courage, acceptance, and belonging. Suitable for young readers and adults, the imaginative world and heartfelt journey make it a worthwhile read. Overall, it’s a fun and inspiring fantasy adventure with a clear message that its ok to be different. she meets friends like Zephyr and faces challenges including dragons, a godmother, and a pirate. The story blends fantasy

This is a fun book. I enjoyed reading about Solace, a fairy who is odd appearance relative to other fairies. Solace was imagined, which in this book, makes her immortal. She's out to find her imaginator, to ask to be reimagined in a better form. I enjoyed reading about her adventures along the way and the characters she met. The world building is good, with time travel, dragons and even a pirate. The only thing I didn't like was that the perspective would occasionally shift to an omnipresent perspective. Overall, I think it's a fun read and would recommend it for kids and young adults.

Solace's a Fairy's tail by Isabella Roy is a book that touched my heart , and is so special to me!

This book was so amazingly enchanted, magical and heartwarming.

Solace A Fairy’s Tail yes Tail as in T-A-I-L. After reading the book the spelling of Tail makes perfect sense and was a very clever detail to add by the Author.

Solace A Fairy’s Tail is a debut novel written by Isabella R. Roy. The story is dedicated to her grandchildren who love to read. The whole story felt as though the author was telling a bed time story! Which is really cool!

When I read this book I found myself transported back to a time where I was a tinker bell loving fairy dust sprinkling little girl, and I loved every bit of it!

The story is targeted towards a younger audience but it can be enjoyed by all ages. I’m 28, and I loved every word of this book!

The world building is incredible as well as the creative concept. I love the fact that in the world Isabella creates for you fairies are created by imaginators which are humans who create fairies from their imagination.

I also loved the appearance of magical creatures though out the book.

Even though Solace is a fairy I still found her extremely relatable. I know that many of us readers can relate to feeling like an outcast, and they don’t belong at least at one period of time!

I adored reading this book! I love Solace, and loved her courage and just her in general!

This is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read for me and I know who every reads it will have the similar feeling of it be amazing!

100/10 recommend !

This is Isabella R Roy’s Debut novel, and for it to be this good is so amazing!
