La verdad es que tanto Marvel como Donny Cates debieron de pensar que con KNULL quizás estaban proponiendo algo super remarcable en la era moderna de estos cómics. Un nuevo villano que representa una amenaza existencial y que retconea de forma curiosa tanto lo que se sabe de los simbiontes asociados a Venom y cia. e incluso algo de la etapa de Jason Aaron en THOR. El Rey de Negro remató la etapa comiquera de Cates a cargo de las aventuras en solitario de Eddie Brock y trastocó el panorama Marvelita simbionte que recogió Al Ewing. Justamente este autor con Tom Waltz presentan esta miniserie totalmente dedicada al retorno de este ser nacido del Negro Abismo al que quiere hacer retornar el Universo entero... Este primer número hace mucha mención a eventos de las cabeceras actuales de Venom y de Inmortal Thor del mismo Ewing. No sé hasta qué punto esta miniserie parte de un plan real y conciso de solaparse a estos eventos o puede que sea algo desligado de ese frustrado intento de que KNULL se impusiese en el audiovisual con su nimia participación en la 3º película del Venom interpretado por Tom Hardy.

Encarcelado en una prisión de la pérfida HELA, KNULL parece una patética sombra de aquel ser que masacró a CELESTIALES en los albores del Universo. Pero ser el avatar del Vacío y Abismo puede ser la solución a este hiatus de sus truncados planes primigenios.

Si algo manifestó Donny Cates con este personaje, es su potencia visual sobre todo si le acompaña alguna muestra de hiper violencia gratuita. Esto parece que será trasladado a este miniserie, la cual arranca de forma muy hiper textual de volver a recontar quién es este ser hasta que nos encaremos a ese cliffhanger que apunta a un versus de seres primigenios Marvelitas asociados a la Oscuridad y Muerte.

I love it when Al Ewing gets cosmic, he does it way better than anyone else. This issue is also really violent so that’s fun. Juanan Ramírez provides the art, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Super stylized and looks painted, can’t wait to see the rest of this series. Knull is a pretty hard protagonist to sell, but this issue hooked me well. Curious to see where Hela ends up at the end of this miniseries, I’m pretty sure she’ll be the “Queen in Black” when it’s all said and done, then it’ll be time for ANOTHER symbiote apocalypse. Yay!

A pretty strong start. Hela is scheming and Knull is part of her plan. The violence was pretty intense in this one and it kicks this series into high gear. Then we get a nice apperance at the end to up the ante.
