When a shadowy figure turns up late one night at the house of police adviser-cum-stage magic expert Mara Knight, Mara and her assistant Clare Deyes know instantly that something is very wrong.
The woman has come to Mara and Clare for help. She claims her young son, Tayte, has begun having a series of extraordinary visions of the future. And that these visions only started after his recent cornea transplant.
In addition, the woman says she has proof that Tayte’s incredible predictions have started coming true. And more worrying still is his claim that – in less than a week’s time – Tayte is certain that a man will kill him.
Can Mara and Clare together uncover the truth behind Tayte’s alarming visions before his final prophecy is fulfilled… with deadly consequences?

The Sherlock Holmes stories meet Jonathan Creek in this fast-paced, twisty mystery with a generous peppering of pathos and humour. Perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Elly Griffiths, Second Sight is the second instalment in The Magician’s Wife series, from internationally published author (and real-life magician’s wife) Lora Jones.
Lora Jones is based in North Wales, UK. She is the author of THE MAGICIAN'S WIFE - a series of impossible mystery novels set in and around the world of stage magic.
Lora also hosts a popular podcast of the same name with her husband Barry, a professional magician.

This new book from Lora Jones is brilliant. I raced through it and read in two sittings as I could not put it down. I really enjoyed the first in the series The Magician’s Wife and so was intrigued about where Mara and Clare would go in this new instalment. We pick up their adventures straight away and move into an explosive storyline full of drama and psychic events. The chilling atmosphere surrounding the ‘second sight’ events is brilliantly set up as Mara and Clare try and solve the seemingly mystic mystery. The dynamics between Mara and Clare continue as they both learn more about eachother. Yet secrets still need uncovering and I love how Mara’s forthright attitude to everything keeps Clare on her toes. Mara is a brilliant character - straight talking and never prone to histrionics, she’s the ideal partner Clare. The finale is the perfect set up for book 3 in the series and I can’t wait to see what’s next for our duo.
This is the 2nd book in The Magician's Wife series and it's a fab read. I loved it as much as the first! 😍
It's been a little while since I read book 1 but within 5 mins Mara and Clare were back in my head; I love Mara's aloofness and Clare's 'normal-ness', she feels like you or I, and questions things which seem odd, very down to earth; I love them both!
We catch up with them exactly where book 1 finishes. The mum of a young boy, Tayte, has come for Mara's assistance. Tayte recently had a cornea transplant and has now started having visions, the worst being that a man will kill him next week!
Mara and Clare set about solving the mystery and take us along for the ride, and what a ride it is! Funny, mysterious, dark at times, entertaining all the time; a great read
I highly recommend reading book 1 first but this can be read on it's own. Now I just need Lora to finish writing book 3 😂
I received a gifted Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book. This is my honest review.
I am an ARC reader for Book Sirens and this is my honest opinion. I read the first book in this series and was privileged to be asked by the author to review this one. Just like book 1 it is full of hectic action adventure that, even with the main protagonist, the Magician's wife producing "magic" stunts, frequently from inside her voluminous coat, she and assistant Claire are often in danger. This book addresses the problems of drugs on large council estates, the story being centred on a little boy seeming to make psychic predictions. There's even a love triangle with Claire at the centre. There is a poignant theme running through the books - the Magician who disappeared without a trace during a magic trick. These books are quite out of the usual for a cosy mystery and well worth reading
