Evan

Having a secret crush on my hot, painfully shy roommate was a stupid idea from the start, but the moment I started casually hooking up with my boss during office hours, I gave up on making smart choices. Still, when my roommate tells me he and my boss hit it off on a blind date, I realize I’ve been a fool for both of them.

Deacon

I never expected the kind of connection I made with the company CEO after one random date. Connections don’t come easy for me. Add to that, I had no clue my roommate has been hooking up with him for months. When I find out the man I’m seeing has big feelings for someone else, I have a feeling he’s talking about Evan, who just confessed he’s got his own feelings for me. I’m willing to explore both relationships, but something about this bizarre love triangle gives me the feeling one of us will wind up on the outs.

Isaac

I’ve been looking for love as long as I can remember. I’ve been told I’m not enough, too much, too driven, AND lacking focus. After one date, I know Deacon could be the man of my dreams, but Evan has been starring in all my fantasies for so long, I couldn’t help falling for him. Knowing he’s pining for the same man I’m also rapidly falling for is bound to get messy, but if I play my cards right, maybe I can finally have more love in my life than I’ve ever dared to dream.

Having your roommate (whom you're really into) tell you he's been seeing your boss(whom you're fucking) and he hopes it might get serious enough that bossman might come around the apartment sometime is premium dinner conversation.

Then again, so is getting so insanely jealous (over both of them doing it behind your unknowing back) that you immediately try to hurt your roommate by telling him that you and his soon to be boyfriend (also both your boss) fucked just that very morning, actually.

💀

Evan's messy, sorry.

Never confessed to his feelings for Deacon but now he's mad that Deacon's fucking the boss, who's fucking Evan, too.

Whole time, this only happened because Evan won't take the boss(Isaac) seriously, even if the boss has been trying to ask him out for ages.

Now the two men found each other out in the wild and he's salty about being left out.

Closed mouths don't get fed, boo!!!

"Should I have told you that? I’m sorry.”

Should you have told him that his soon to be boyfriend fucked you TODAY?

Evan, Evan, I know what you're about.

And then to add the cherry on top, he decides that now is the time to stand up and get counted.

Yep. Now that his boss and roommate are fucking and on the verge of dating, now is when he decides to tell his roommate, “I mean, I guess I’ve tried not to be too obvious about it, but I am attracted to you.”

Nah, I was actually so entertained.

My issue with this is that everyone and their cousin seemed to be pushing Deacon towards Evan.

But Deacon likes Isaac. He's said it himself that people are generally not easy for him but Isaac's been 'the easiest'. Met the guy one time and ended up spending the whole weekend with him, even forgetting the plans he had with Evan.

But his therapist is pushing him towards Evan. So is Bailey. Now Bailey, I get. She's met Evan, likes him. Doesn't know Isaac.

The therapist, though? Why?

The man has told you all he likes Isaac.

Who also likes him back, mind you. Enough to have tried halting his workplace sexual relationship with Evan. Whom he's been in love with for ages.

And Isaac's also heartbroken because he just discovered Evan hasn't been interested in him because he's been carrying a torch for Deacon all this while.

Now Evan's not even going in to office because he's butthurt that the man he's been living with and pining for sees him as just a roommate and in instead interested in their boss.

Basically, everyone's heartbroken.

Except Deacon, whose feelings are not as involved yet in either direction.

Which is probably why he went to Evan's room to talk and ends up asking him how he can be a better top for Isaac.

Because he(Deacon) has always bottomed and now he's fucking Isaac, who's always topped. So now he's asking Evan, who's always bottomed for Isaac💀💀💀💀💀

And Evan is trying not to die of heartbreak when he's like dude, idk, you can easily tell with a man if it's working, is it working?

And Deacon's like oh yeah, totally. All the time. In every position. Four times a night.

😂

What a terrible thing to hear about the man you love who's fucking the man who used to fuck you.

Now you'd think talking about the other guy they're both sort of seeing would have their dicks softer than marshmallows around each other.

You'd be wrong.

Because this heart to heart about another man ends up in a hug and then, “Holding you is kind of turning me on.”

And I'm just there thinking......guys. This is complicated enough. Let's put the dicks away until we figure out a solution, okay?

Eventually Deacon decides they all need to talk, Isaac's on board IF Deacon can get Evan to agree to it.

What's Evan's view, you ask? The messy one who started all this, FYI.

“Deacon, I need you to stop right there. You win, okay? You can have Isaac. Go forth and be merry or what the fuck ever, but please for the love of everything sane and sacred do not ever suggest anything like that to me again.”

The 'ever' is italicized😂😂😂

Which means nothing, because Evan agrees to the talk after all.

The meeting is hilarious turn-based combat.

Isaac's like okay, Evan, since you like Deacon so much, maybe I can back off and let you two at it.

Deacon's like nuh-uh. You're not dumping me. Evan might like me, but EYE want you.

I also like how Deacon called Evan out for belittling Isaac's love for him.

Because Evan really does walk around like it means nothing, yet somehow his crush on Deacon should mean something to everyone and he's the injured party in all this, yet if he'd just spoken up earlier and chosen a GODDAMN lane, neither Isaac nor Deacon would have been free to date each other and develop feelings.

Honestly if all meetings were like this, I'd dodge them less.

And yet, SOMEHOW, two of them manage to sneak off and start fucking without the third, DURING the meeting.

Naturally, they get caught.

Honestly this is a clusterfuck and while 46% in, I was NOT sold on them as a throuple, the chaos was legendary.

Somehow I'm meant to believe that the desire is mutual across the board, when after their first threesome, we have thoughts like this, 'I want to ask if I have a chance with him, or if I’m too late because he’s already too far gone for Isaac.'

Weeks into it and they're having the kind of conversations about it that you wouldn't believe.

Evan's telling Isaac that he feels a bit disconnected from Deacon because when they have sex back at their apartment, Deacon immediately gets on his phone after, or his treadmill or off to the kitchen. And Evan wants to know if he's also like that with Isaac. And Isaac has to confess that no, actually, he stays in bed with him and holds him all night.

Like at what point do these guys realize the triad isn't working?

Evan likes Deacon so, so much but when he asks Deacon how he sees him, Deacon says he finds Evan 'exciting and scary'.

Why scary? Because 'You could take him away.'

The 'him' in question being Isaac. Who started out madly in love with Evan, which all of them know.

The gag is, Evan can see what the other two don't. That Isaac is fast falling as hard for Deacon as Deacon has for him.

So to be fair, I get why Evan's freaked out. But the other two spend less time together yet their feelings for each other grow visibly stronger daily.

Aaand Evan has those unresolved feelings about how his university ex liked to share him with other guys and it had made him feel like he wasn't enough for the man he loved.

Now it feels like he gets to be 'not enough' for two men, at once.

'I’m also not sure he realizes how hard it is to watch him fall so easily for Isaac and stumble so hard when it comes to me.'

Like I really feel for Evan, but I also can't help thinking he fumbled massively with both of these men individually. This throuple needn't have existed. He could have had either one before they met each other.

Massive fight between Evan and Deacon where Deacon says Evan keeps putting himself in the middle between Deacon and Isaac. Which to be honest, I think came out wrong, but it came out nonetheless. Deacon storms off. Evan lowkey gives up.

“No, I mean go to him.”
“Are you coming?”
He shakes his head. “Not tonight.”
“Why does this feel like a trap?”

Isaac babes, it's absolutely a trap💀

But I also have issues with Isaac who is always professing his love for Evan but also saying it has felt right with Deacon from the jump and 'You're mine' and 'You won't lose me.'

I'm glad the two men have started asking him the hard questions like, “Even if he’s done with this?” because Isaac honestly seems capable of polyamory but the other two are struggling and he really can't have them both in one relationship if they're struggling with each other and neither is willing to let go of him so he can be with the other.

So in a real sense, what does it even mean? Words are great and all but how will it work?

And then Deacon shocks the fuck out of me by saying, “Then I need your help. I need you to show me what loving him looks like.”

And my dumbass was like awwwwwww🥰

As fucked up as it is, asking his boyfriend to teach him how to love the man he loved before him was surprisingly sweet.

Still, Deacon's apology to Evan (who'd literally moved away by this point) was hilariously candid.

Basically, I said what I said to you Evan, and I absolutely meant that shit BUT I shouldn't have said it😂 😂 😂

But Evan's disappearance for a month had given Deacon and Isaac the time alone to solidify them while also letting Evan realize he missed them horribly and did actually want to try again.

With both of them.

So. Do I buy the romance?

Absolutely, categorically not. I feel it's 3 men making the best of a bad situation where each one loves another who loves another more.

Was I sat tf down for this entire chaotic ride and having a blast the entire time?

Yes.

August Jones books got a bit of a uno card game feel to them. Dip in and it's fun and exciting in principle BUT there is no real strategy or assured progress, and it is full of random reverse order or +4 cards and just drags on and on. That is a thing in their other books (all of them really) but it's extra obvious here. It's too long, it's does not make much sense, it's like its full of reverse the order or +4 cards played. Sometimes it is a fun book, in others it is just seemingly endless nonsense.

I just did not like this book - the writing is more polished than in earlier books, that is good, but the book failed so hard to make me think the characters really loved each other and were careful of the other's feelings and would make personal sacrifices for them, and that is important in a romance. Evan's feelings were interesting, his insecurity, but he has to settle for whatever the others decide they want. I just did not like Deacon (who does not really grovel for intentionally hurting Evan's feelings when going all territorial. And is it good rep if the character represented is an asshole who gets a HEA without really working for it?).

Powerful scenes, the dinner where they figure out they are both sleeping with Isaac, and it's a great setting, a triangle of pining, and so much could have been done with it. But what the author thinks is a happy situation, or love, is just convincing me. The polyamory thing truly not being well worked out emotionally which made this so frustrating...

Isaac waffles, Deacon just goes not apologize or grovel sufficiently. And it just dragged on and on, so many sex scenes (which to be fair I found perfectly boring after the fist few times, but hey that is me, and showing feelings through sex scenes is hard...) and in all I just wanted Evan to break free, and the other two to get a room, lock the door, and for me be able to forget about them and Evan get a HEA with some other new guy. I wish I had skipped this book.

I might still check the next book because I loved some of the author's other books but this was just not a reading experience I want to repeat.

I feel like I’m still gathering my thoughts on this book.
I was really looking forward to it after our intros to Evan, Deacon and especially Isaac in previous books. I felt like their personalities in previous books didn’t quite match how they were in this one.
The author says at the end that she struggled with this book and honestly I feel that comes across. The book was slow going in the middle and there were stages where I wondered whether these guys actually even like each other. The big conflict never really felt resolved for me, which made what would have been a very satisfying ending fall a bit flat.
Never thought I’d say this but overall I think there was too much spice and not enough relationship building.
That said, there was a lot to like here. The neurodiversity rep is great (Deacon felt very relatable to me) and the spice was very hot. Cameos from previous book MCs were satisfying and I’m desperate to find out what happens with Jake in the next book. The side plot with Millie’s dog was funny.
Overall I enjoyed this book but probably won’t reread it, the way I do with Finance Bros and Gym Bros. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book early in return for this review.

This book is the same amounts of great and annoying. The writing is a lot better than the first book in the series, and the characters are well rounded (as in: they kind of feel like real people. Not very nice people though, or I should say very immature people. Real nonetheless).
The story itself though… I got angry so many times while reading. For example: Isaac talks about the fact that he feels like Evan doesn’t really like him that much. Evan lets him use him, but he doesn’t always have a happy ending himself. But he really loves Evan! Excuse me Mr Boss man… you are the CEO and he’s your assistant… Stop f%@#cking him and start talking! So wrong on so many levels! Then he gets together with Deacon. But when they have a dinner party he only shows their friends he’s a couple with Evan. And when Deacon lashes out to Evan for this, Evan runs, without giving Deacon the time to really explain himself. We already know Deacon is autistic and that he needs some time to formulate his sentences. Give the guy a break! At the same time I really felt for Evan. The other two seem to be fine together. I really can understand why he felt like a third wheel. “But I love you so much Evan!” No you don’t Isaac, you just lust him very much…

I am a sucker for mmm romances (mmf too btw), and because this book is quite funny and it ends so well, I rounded my score up to four stars. Still not a big fan of the series, although book two was really good. The whole bros thing just annoys me (especially because Isaac calls his boyfriends “my techbros” at some point. Iew dude! So gross!)

This book is also very, very smutty, which is mostly a good thing in my book. Even for me this book was a bit much though (more than one on page dp scene… wow 😱🤣 )

Don’t think I need to reread this book. I think I’d recommend it if you like very smutty books with whiny mc’s that don’t really take responsibility for their actions or words. It’s a fun read though, lots of funny banter and situations.

This is an MMM story, and it starts as a love triangle, and it is a little bit complicated 🙈

Isaac is the boss of Evan. Deacon and Evan are roommates. And while Isaac is in love with Evan, Evan has a crush on Deacon who really likes Isaac 🤭

The fact that Deacon’s autistic makes things a bit more difficult, too, since the communication is a bit harder here, but they manage that quite well. There are bumps in the road for sure, but that's just life, isn’t it?

This story is a perfect example for how a relationship can work if all the partners are willing to communicate their needs and feelings and are ready to learn and grow, and that made it so special for me 🥰

Is this love triangle dynamic complicated and messy? Oh absolutely, 100 percent. But, these men recognize that they have something worth working and fighting for ✨️

Oh, and the spice was extraordinary well written, these boys had fun for sure 🫠😏

Hard Fought HEA

This really is a hard fought hea and truly a bizarre poly love triangle.

There were times I was not sure if they could pull it off, but August Jones does give us beautiful hea.

They just have to go through a lot to get there.

These 3 men are so different and all compliment each other uniquely.

This had my heart palpitating multiple times.

We have seen all 3 men from the previous books, I was really looking forward to their story.

I love August Jones' writing style.

This was a hard one for me to get through, only because I think with poly relationships, I worry about someone getting hurt or feeling left out. We do get some of that in this book, thankfully it is resolved though.

I'm really glad these 3 beautiful men found their way and got their HEA

Can’t wait to see what else August Jones has in store for us

Random Thoughts:

●This Bay Area Bros book is the one that I have been eagerly waiting for and it is such a disappointment.
● Am I the only one who finds it hard to push through a book when you can't stand one of the characters, let alone two?
● If you want to read a book on how to do absolutely everything wrong in a poly relationship, than this book is for you.
● Is miscommunication or failure to communicate at all between mcs, throughout an entire book, your thing? Well, you will not be disappointed with this book.
● The relationship dynamic between these three is completely imbalanced.
● I understand Evan's insecurities, however, it does not excuse how often he is selfish with Isaac's time and manipulative with both men. I am not a fan.
● It seems as though Isaac only keeps Deacon around so if Evan won't stay, Isaac still has someone to take care of his needy ass. Not a fan of Isaac either.
● Everything is always about Isaac's love for Evan. Rarely any feelings beyond sexual come into play with Deacon.
● When Evan says he wants more with Isaac, Isaac basically ditches Deacon.
●In chapter 9, Isaac's POV, he states that he wants to take Deacon on dates and out to places so that he can show Deacon off and fawn over him in public. Instead, it is only Evan whom Isaac fawns over, taken places and is seen in public with him, including at Deacon's dinner party.
●Throughout the entire book, after their initial meetup, Deacon and Isaac are never together in public nor is Deacon taken on any dates and fawned over by Isaac. They only spend time together inside one of their homes, never alone because Isaac always needs Evan present. The only time it was not just for sex, is the dinner party, in which Isaac completely ignores Deacon.
● Of course Deacon is distraught and hurt, especially when the man who tells him "your mine" and "your not going anywhere" continuously abandons him in favor of his "future" and "love" Evan.
● Isaac harms Deacon deeply when he ignores Deacon in favor of Evan and acts like only Evan's date at the dinner party.
● Deacon eating alone in the kitchen, everyone assuming Deacon is single, then when told he is not single they ask why his date did not attend, all the while Isaac and Evan cuddle and behave like a couple in front of Deacon and everyone else at the party. It is truly awful.
●When Deacon points out all of the aforementioned to Isaac, Isaac brushes it off as not true and dismisses Deacon's hurt feelings. Dude...he ate alone in the kitchen.
● The only time Isaac makes time for Deacon or comes around him at the party is when he hid Deacon away to screw him in the bathroom. Then, when Evan acts all upset & jealous because Isaac dares to leave his side, Isaac lies about having sex with Deacon as if he is ashamed. God forbid he is allowed to spend time with his other boyfriend and not be glued to Evan's side for all of 10 minutes! Then, it gets even better, because the moment Evan acts all upset and jealous that Isaac did pay Deacon attention, Isaac once again abandons Deacon in favor of Evan and leaves the party with him for a walk. Like, wtf?!
●It hurts to read the party chapters. My heart breaks for Deacon so much during them and this only solidifies my dislike for Evan and Isaac.
● They treat Deacon like trash, yet he is the one who has to constantly apologize for wanting his fair share of affection and attention from Isaac.
● Deacon is treated as the 2nd and disposable choice throughout the entire book by Isaac.
● Evan is in the middle of Deacon & Isaac's relationship. Yes, Isaac is the one who initially placed Evan in that position. However, Evan has made a home there and refuses to budge when Deacon needs and asks for affection from Isaac or alone time with him. So, Evan is as much to blame as Isaac for isolating Deacon.
● Everyone has to walk on eggshells and treat Evan gently like it is all about him.
● Frankly, in this book, it is all about Evan, Evan's insecurities and jealousy, Isaac's love for Evan, and Deacon begging for some scraps of time and affection from Isaac.
● The only love declarations throughout the entire book are for Evan from Isaac. Deacon gets a half-assed "you know I love you" from Isaac as they talk about Evan leaving them. Gee, how sweet.
● After Evan jumps ship, every time Deacon asks Isaac if he alone will be enough for Isaac, Isaac refuses to give him a real or straightforward answer. It is absolutely horrible and painful to read. Just leave Deacon already Isaac! Go find your forever love Evan. Let Deacon go to find someone who will actually appreciate and love him because you suck.
● I think Deacon should've been the one who left the relationship then Evan and Isaac work to win him back. I would have liked the story so much more.
● OR Deacon left the two self-absorbed lovebirds and meets someone else. Then the next book could be about him finding that someone who truly understood him. Someone who makes him feel like he is not hard to love and is not a backup plan.
● I think, on behalf of Deacon, I will forever be angry with this book.
●The 3 stars are for autism rep being extremely well done, the characters being distinctive and dimensional (August never lets me down in that department), and for Deacon, because he deserves all the stars. Evan and Isaac can suck it.

I enjoyed the writing. The story definitely pulled me in and kept me hooked but I don't think this polycule really did a great job of wrapping up in a way that felt like they were going to last. Sure, they all ended up together but issues never got resolved on page. Anytime a conversation about jealousy or communication they had sex. I love smut but you can't DP into a strong relationship (no matter how much we wish).

Overall, glad I read it. Will read the next book - frat bros - but didn't love it.

….

“You weren’t in the way. You were just in the middle. Exactly where we wanted you.”

….

I am more than ever convinced that August never ever takes the short way home. Which I will forever praise and why she’s one of my favorites, forever going in blind. 6 words. I HAVE BEEN PUT THROUGH IT.

Employee meets employer. Clandestine office hours. Chemistry. Two denials. Yearning. Wish for a kiss. A crush. Boundaries. Fallen. Refusal. Boy meets boy. One date. A kiss of faith. A kryptonite in between. Confessions. Trying. More trying. Connection. Physical touch, love language. Love language, love language… fear. Fears. Love language. Fear. So much fear. Words that can’t be taken back. What does it mean to be enough? A sacrifice. Moving on. Trying? Love(s) that can’t be denied. A puzzle piece(s) missing. Trying. One road trip. A journal. “Give me your hand.” Trying, learning, hard truths. So much love language. Goosebumps and touches. Tangle of limbs. Tangle of sweet nothings. Tangle of important words. Trying, learning, heart truths. Trying. Loving. Individually and together. Minds unlock. Souls lock.

As for me: a few missing hairs, one mishandled kindle, so much anticipation, emotional mess. One happy girl.

And you August. You just know how to bring a story to life. Thank you for sticking up to what you wanted to bring out. They didn’t come together easy. It’s far from easy. But how you made their love true. It toke time … it was intimate. It became natural… it became theirs.

The set up for the next book. I wasn’t expecting. But now yearning for the unexpected.

You deserve to have it all.” // “Questions are being asked and answered. Validation is offered and accepted. Adoration flows freely, at least from my end, and I think he sees it.” // “I still want to crack him open and feel his love pour out. I think it must be magnificent.” // “He’s my weakness. What can I say?” // “When you kissed me, it felt like you and I could have.” // “You make me nervous and excited and scared because I know you like me, and I don’t ever want to fuck that up.” // “His kisses are like love letters. I’m honestly not sure if this is a 5-star read because I genuinely loved it, or closer to a 4 because I do have remarks — and there were moments where I felt the urge to skim a bit.

That said, I really love August Jones ❤️ and have read quite a lot of her work. And when your first line is:

“If my assistant’s pants were any tighter, I’d be able to see his sperm.”

…you know you’re in for a good ride 😅

She pulls you into the story effortlessly from page one. It somehow feels like you’re already deep in it almost immediately, and it is indeed hard to put the book down.

The spice is delicious — the sex scenes are written so intimately and so well that you can almost feel them.

And I have to say this again (because it stood out to me in her previous books too): I really loved that these are three mature adults capable of having meaningful, healthy conversations. In this book, even more so. You don't really expect that level of emotional depth from a book with a title like Tech Bros 😅

I also appreciated that the relationship actually had to be built. Not the usual MMM shortcut of “well, we all love each other now.” Here, we get a real journey — hesitation, communication, coming to terms with feelings — and that made it feel earned 💛

At some point, though, the constant back-and-forth conversations started to feel a bit exhausting. Like… people, if you’re trying to make something work, you don’t need to repeat the same discussions every single day 😅 I genuinely think the book could’ve been at least 100 pages shorter without losing anything essential.

Near the end, Evan may come off a bit like a drama queen — but honestly, it is part of his character, and his reactions still made sense in context.

That said… I would still trim it a bit — both in terms of repetitive conversations and some of the sex scenes.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed the ride. It was a refreshing take on MMM dynamics for me, emotionally solid, spicy, and engaging — just slightly longer than it needed to be 💛

As you know, I am a happy MM reader, and August Jones is one of my favorite authors out there. So when she releases a new book, I will drop anything and pick it up immediately. This is another outstanding novel, she keeps producing them at an impressive speed.
What I love about her writing is that she creates incredible characters. They are flawed, vulnerable, stubborn, real, and in this case, extremely horny. I have never encountered main characters as insatiable as these guys. So much so that I was genuinely worried about their well-being at times.
Leave it to August to come up with an MMM throuple as messy and toxic as this one. My friend Ken called it a love triangle on crack, which is a pretty accurate description. There is Isaac, the gorgeous owner and CEO of a tech company, who is in love with his assistant, whom he sleeps with every single weekday. Evan, the assistant, has a major crush on his roommate, who most of the time barely even looks at him. And then there’s Deacon, the roommate, a programmer at the company who completely falls for his one-night stand which slowly morphed into an “I just never left” situation. That one-night stand, of course, is Isaac.
When everything comes to light, they attempt to form a polyamorous throuple, but let me tell you, they are not good at it. They do try, mostly by talking, which is not their strong suit, especially for Deacon, who is autistic and struggles to put things into words (August does a tremendous job at writing a character on the spectrum). Physical intimacy is his love language, so that’s what they turn to. A lot. A ridiculous amount.
This might be the book with the most orgasms I have ever read. A little too much, even for my horny taste. August always writes fantastic spice, but here it took away from the plot in my opinion. I didn’t really get to fully know the characters and their struggles, because they were constantly occupied with each other's dicks.
Because of that, this is a 4-star read for me. Still, I really enjoyed myself. Now I need to hydrate after this.

This book is basically the romantic equivalent of watching three trains, two eighteen-wheelers, and fifty cars crash together in slow motion… and I mean that in the most entertaining way possible. 🚉🚚🚗

The story starts after Isaac and Evan have already been hooking up for a while. Isaac is very clearly catching real feelings, while Evan is doing his best to pretend those feelings don’t exist. At the same time, Evan has been secretly crushing on his shy roommate Deacon… which already sounds messy enough.

But then Deacon goes on a blind date with Isaac.

And suddenly the situation becomes:

*Evan is sleeping with Isaac but crushing on Deacon.

*Isaac is in love with Evan but has instant chemistry with Deacon.

*Deacon is intrigued by Isaac but also discovering Evan has feelings for him.

So yes… it’s a tangled emotional disaster and I was fully seated for the chaos. 🍿

One thing I really appreciated was how the book handled miscommunication. The author literally lists it as a trigger warning, which made me laugh, but it’s actually the realistic kind, people misunderstanding each other, hesitating to say things, or interpreting situations wrong. Deacon being neurodivergent also made some of those moments feel very real rather than frustrating.

Another layer of conflict is Evan’s past trauma. His ex destroyed his trust, so the idea of sharing a partner or someone he loves being interested in someone else triggers all kinds of old wounds. Meanwhile Isaac is the only one who actually seems sure of what he wants: both of them.

And watching Evan slowly spiral while trying to process that? Messy, chaotic, occasionally infuriating… but also very human.

Also, I was not expecting the heat level to be that high. We barely reach page 50 and there are already multiple spicy scenes. I honestly thought things would slow down later in the book once feelings started getting discussed… but nope. These men are down bad and extremely horny the entire time. 😂🔥

By the end, what really becomes clear is that the problem was never love, it was expectations. Evan kept thinking love between three people had to look identical in every direction, when in reality each relationship is different. Once that realization clicks, everything finally starts to make sense.

Overall, this was chaotic, dramatic, occasionally frustrating, and extremely entertaining.

Another solid book from August! While Gym Bros remains my favorite in the series, I couldn't get enough of these 3 men.

In typical August fashion, she gifted us with three complex, imperfect characters that I fell in love with. Evan is insecure, Deacon is neurospicy and struggles to communicate, and Isaac is full-steam ahead on what he wants.

We get character appearances from the other books (I'll never get enough of Calyx), tension, top tier spice, and the angst that I live for.

I'll always be quick to recommend an August book, and Tech Bros is no exception. I'm excited for Jake's story because I definitely need to know more.

I absolutely love these Bay Area boys and this friend group.

I loved the overall story, but there were a few things I didn’t love. And that’s totally my personal preference.

It just felt a little bit unrealistic with how often these three were getting spicy. It took away from some of the character devlopment for me. And I love, loved Deacon and Isaac’s character. Evan too. I could have done with a lot less 🌶️

Gym bros is still one of my top books and I cannot waitttt for the next one!

Tech Bros shows a lot of what I've come to expect from August Jones' stories.
- High heat
- Heavy dose of angst
- Communication issues
- 3rd act break-up
- Straight hit to the feels

Along with those, you can also find...
- Roommates/friends to lovers
- Boss X assistant
- Neurodivergent rep
- Dedicated bottom
- Double p3n3tr@tion
- Make-up/reconciliation s3x

The more, the merrier, or in this case, the more, the angstier. All of Jones' stories have angst to them, but what I've gotten from reading all of her books is that the MMM stories definitely have more to go along with that extra M.

Deacon, Evan, and Isaac's road to HEA is not a smooth one, but that doesn't mean it lacks sweetness or romance.

When Jones writes a men@ge, she might end with an equilateral triangle, with all partners giving and taking in equal measure, but it tends to start off a bit... lopsided. There are some jagged edges, some bumps in the lines, maybe something tends to go askew.

Evan and Deacon have the longest road to travel to find a place that they can share together. Though it might appear that Evan's in the middle, it's really Isaac (and the stability he offers both of them) that sits in the middle. The other two have to find a way to create a strong relationship between themselves that can hold up to the dedication that Isaac is already committed to giving.

Overall, the guys work it out, of course, and they get their HEA, but you need to be prepared for less smooth couple time than you might like. Tech Bros does hold up as a solid story, and it fits perfectly with Jones' backlist, but I don't think it's my favorite. As far as the Bay Area Bros go, I think my heart is still pulled to Sam and Calyx, then the Step-Bros, so this third installment may not be one I'd reread unless I was reading the whole series over again.

That being said, I'm excited for the final Bay Area Bros book, Frat Bros, which will be coming next!

I did like this MMM romance, but I also felt kind of heartbroken by it in a way I wasn’t expecting. The jealousy never really got resolved, and there was this constant push and pull between Evan and Deacon that just… lingered. That said, Evan’s character arc was honestly my favorite part of the whole book. I really loved his realization and decision to choose himself instead of staying in something that kept hurting him. That moment felt real, and it made me respect his character so much more.

What bothered me was that Deacon and Isaac stayed together even after Evan left. Not that they should’ve broken up, but it felt like that month without Evan actually helped their relationship, while Evan had basically been a third wheel the whole time. And honestly, even by the end, it still felt that way. We never really got closure on Evan’s walls or his hurt, and that sucked.

The ending was, for lack of a better word, meh. Yeah, it was technically happy and they all ended up together, but it didn’t hit emotionally. There was never a moment where Deacon realized he loved Evan for Evan, or that he couldn’t imagine things without him. It just felt like Deacon wanted Evan mostly for Isaac’s happiness, not because he genuinely needed Evan in his life. And because of that, Evan never stopped feeling like an add-on, even at the end.

Update 12/26/25 changing to 5 stars:
After sitting with this book for a couple of days, I realized it affected me on a more cathartic level than I initially gave credit for. And honestly, that’s the point of books.

I’m still not fully happy with the ending, and some things didn’t resolve the way I wanted them to, but I can’t deny that this story has stayed with me. Evan, especially had been on my mind. Even though it’s a romance and I wanted a clearer, more emotionally satisfying HEA, the fact I’m still thinking about it days later says a lot.

I may not love this book, but it clearly did something to me emotionally… and that alone makes it a good, memorable read.

Thank you August Jones for giving me the chance to read the book as an ARC Reader 🥹🫶

Hot damn! That was hot. This book is the erotic heaven, and it manages that without ever losing sight of the story. Evan, Isaac, and Deacon have the perfect dynamic with each other. On the one hand you've got the whole boss-and-employee tension, and on the other the roommates. And I loved how those two "groups" later turned into one - from two to one, basically. It worked so well.

This was the first why-choose book I've ever read, and I don't want to imagine missing out on it. It was just so good. And the epilogue! How cute can it even get?

Plus, this book sent me straight into the double-fuck heaven. So much double penetration, omg.

Beyond angry with this book.
First off Millie. If I ever met someone like this in person, I'd cut them out of my life, get a restraining order, and even contemplate changing apartments, so I never had to see them again.
Second, the therapist, Gray was not helpful at all. Came off as a friend for Deacon, not an actual therapist.
Third, ALL OF THE RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS COULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED SIMPLY FROM TALKING! (or in Deacon's case writing). Every time there was supposed to be a conversation there would be sex, jealousy, and someone upset or angry. Nothing ever got resolved or talked about.
Third & and Half, why did they not talk about polyamory ever?
Fourth, Evan's insecurities should have been delt with regarding Hunter long before they had that brief conversation in the bar.
Fifth, did any work actually get done in between all the sex Isaac and Evan engaged in?? Besides the HR nightmare, there was just so much wrong.

I have so much more to say but I can't get it out, might come back and revise

I really liked this story even though there were several pretty big miscommunications. One of the characters is audhd which I’m very interested in because my husband was recently diagnosed. The reason for only 4 stars is that it was so long and that was due to all the sex. And listen, I love the sex and don’t normally think there’s too much but these guys had sex more than they communicated with each other for most of the book and it got to the point where I was skimming to move it along. I really enjoy this author’s books and I’m hoping the next one will be Jake’s story.

This is my first book by this author. I had seen many great comments on FB so I thought why not. If you’re looking for a lot of smut with a loose plot and marginally interesting characters here you go. Sex scenes are extremely long and detailed.. I give these guys 8 months to a year and a half to make it. I just don’t find them compelling at all. Nonetheless, I did finish it so that says something. Doubt that I will read more by this author if this is the way their books go.

I really enjoyed Tech Bros, and it's another great addition to the Bay Area Bros series.

I love my books on the angsty side, and August definitely delivers. These boys fought hard for their HEA, and it was absolutely worth the pain to get there.

The spice was next level and if you enjoy a DP kink in your stories then look no further.

I've also never connected to or felt more seen by a character the way I did with Deacon. It meant a lot to recognise myself in him and to see so many of his experiences and traits reflected back at me.

I cannot wait for Jake’s story!

PLEASE be aware that this summary/review is meant for my own purposes in order to help me recall this book and definitely has spoilers. It is in no way a reflection of what I think anyone else will like or want out of a book. It is simply a memory aid and a rough voice-to-text which is completely unedited/reviewed for errors. Read at your own discretion.

Evan and Deacon are roommates and both work for Isaac. Evan is his assistant and they have a sex-only relationship (at least to Evan, Isaac is in love with Evan but has kept it secret). Deacon is a programmer and works distantly from Isaac. Evan has a crush on Deacon and Deacon is oblivious. Ryan, from book 1, was Deacon's roommate prior to Evan and Deacon had a crush on him. He was hurt when Ryan fell in love with Mal so he is guarded when it comes to his roommate. Deacon is also best friends with Bailey who we met in the first book.

Deacon is trying to get away from a toxic friend group and have a more normal life so he decides to go on a blind date. It turns out it is with Isaac who he recognizes as the CEO of his company. They hit it off immediately and after hooking up, decide to continue to see each other. Meanwhile, Isaac is still hooking up with Evan at work. Deacon tells Evan about dating Isaac so it doesn't surprise him and Evan comes clean that he is sleeping with him. Evan does not handle this particularly well. His feelings are extremely hurt because he thought Deacon didn't notice him because Deacon wasn't gay or wasn't interested in a relationship. When he finds out Deacon is interested in Isaac he takes it very personally. He ends the physical relationship with Isaac and leaves town for a short time.

Deacon then goes to Isaac and tells him he knows. Everyone is fine with things but they all want something different. Isaac is in love with Evan but Evan, as far as we know, is attracted to Isaac but doesn't have much more feelings for him. Evan is in love with Deacon. Deacon has been very hesitant about even thinking about Evan but recognizes that he really likes him and might be interested in knowing him better. Deacon also really likes Isaac and they have great chemistry. Isaac and Deacon have a very detailed conversation about all of this. They both realize they have unfinished business with Evan and need to talk to him. Isaac needs to tell him how he feels about him and Deacon needs to find out if there is potential for something there. Suddenly, Deacon allows himself to think about Evan sexually. They briefly semi joke about all three of them together but leave it there. Deacon goes home and talks to Evan and they wind up hooking up. Later that night, Isaac finds Evan on the running trail and tells him he loves him. Evan is understandably hesitant but after they talk he agrees to withhold judgment and maybe date both men. They try and Evan just can't handle it. He discovers he does have feelings for Isaac but thinks that Isaac and Deacon have more in common and should be together. Deacon has stronger feelings for Isaac than he does for Evan and Evan knows this. He and Deacon get in an argument, and Deacon says some things that make heaven feel like Deacon wants him out of the picture. Deacon doesn't really, but he did in the moment and because of autism he does not communicate very well. Evan decides he is going to take a job offer in LA from an ex of his and picks up and moves in the middle of the night leaving a note for Isaac. That same night, Isaac's younger brother, Jake (20), is badly injured in a fight at his fraternity and winds up in the ICU. He ends up being OK but has to go home (he lives with Isaac) to recover for a while so Isaac and Deacon take care of him. Isaac and Deacon accept Evan's decision but are not happy about it. A few weeks later, Deacon shows up unannounced at Evan's apartment in the middle of the night and reconnects and explains his feelings to the best of his ability. Evan meanwhile has realized he was actually in love with the guys and goes back for a visit with Deacon and Isaac. They have a lot of sex but also a lot of talking and decide they do want to make things work. They decide that Evan will stay in LA for a while but they will be together. In the epilogue, they buy a house and I'll move in there and then later create a company where they all bound together like a marriage.

I felt like Deacon was really well done as an autistic character. There was insight into his communication style and he has a lot of personal insight also. It felt very authentic to me. I also liked how well all the characters communicated with each other. I was afraid there was going to be a lot of miscommunication trope and there wasn't any. Even when they hesitated to share their feelings, it felt very honest. I especially liked that as a polycule, they were a total mess. They did not all fall at the same time, there was some jealousy and people not knowing where they fit in, especially Evan. They all freaked out at various times. It felt much more authentic than most of these types of books.

I love August Jones work but I really struggled with this one. I cried for almost the entire time I read. I binged it in like less than 24 hours and I have a massive headache from how much I cried. I’m still trying to process how I feel about this book. I do think good writing should make you feel something strong, but Im wrecked and not it a good way. I’m not sure I’m fully convinced these men actually loved each other or belonged together in the end and I don’t like finishing a romance book thinking that way. I feel like my emotions were violently rocked deep in my core and it wasn’t worth it in the end. I was not soothed or satisfied by the “HEA” and it left me empty with a big hole in my chest.
SPOILERS BELOW………….

This relationship was completely unbalanced from start to finish. I understand that real life can be messy and often it’s impossible to make a poly relationship completely fair….but I didn’t feel like the conflicts were properly worked through or resolved.

My heart broke hearing Deacons POV about being left out at the dinner party and I think he was valid in feeling bad about it. He was totally neglected and felt like trash. It was horrible that Issac lied to Evan about fucking Deacon in the bathroom. I think Issac lied a lot in this book and that he was the only one who kept winning while everyone lost.

My heart shattered again when Deacon lashed out at Evan and told him to stop getting in the middle. I think Evan was completely valid in taking off after being treated like that.

I get that Deacon is autistic, but that doesn’t give him a pass to lash out without consequences. He spent the entire book avoiding his feelings and steamrolling straight ahead. Evan was actually trying to slow down and process his feelings so he could make the right decisions. Issac did a horrible job of meeting them both in the middle. Issac claimed he couldn’t choose between them, but he absolutely ended up choosing Deacon in the end.

Issac wrote in his email that if Evan had made him choose, he wouldn’t have been able to let Deacon go. Issac says directly to Deacon that he will never let him go. Then Evan actually leaves and Issac does absolutely nothing about it. Just lets him go. He even goes as far as telling Deacon that just him is enough. That he doesn’t need Evan. So being with just Evan is not enough but being with just Deacon is? That’s not love!! Then Issac never admits that he was lying when he said he didn’t need Evan to be happy. Like why is Isaac always lying? Told Evan he loved him and saw a future with him and then just let him leave.

I get there was a lot he had to deal with that prevented him from going after Evan but it really felt like neither Deacon or Isaac fought that hard to keep Evan. Like they just accepted that he left. They were even pissed that he left when he had very valid reasons to do so. Deacon straight up told him to get lost! They just confirmed all the insecurities Evan ever had and then never apologized for it. They claimed Evan leaving was so bad without ever taking accountability for how they acted in return. Then when Deacon finally goes after Evan, Issac says “what the fuck” like he’s mad Deacon went after Evan. Someone had to!!

Even in the last chapters, they never denied that Evan leaving was the wrong choice. Like I still don’t understand why Issac and Deacon needed or wanted Evan in their relationship after how they acted so unaffected. There was no intense pining for Evan while he was gone. There was one mention of missing him but it wasn’t a deep ache. I could tell that Issac was sad, but it wasn’t very strong. Deacon didn’t care at all. They were doing fine without him. I didn’t get the feeling that anything was missing for them. Just that things needed to heal through time and maybe they needed to make some compromises to make each other happy, but not that they were missing a part of their soul that they couldn’t live without. There wasn’t a strong sense of pining from Evan either. Just felt like they were going through the motions of a touch breakup but would eventually move on.

This book just made me extremely sad. Deacon and Evan deserved better. Issac was a coward and a liar and didn’t earn their love at all. He wanted to have it all without working hard for it. Deacon and Evan did all the heavy lifting while Isaac just sat back for the ride. The HEA was not justified.

The best thing about this book was the spice. It was creative and plentiful. These men were hot together.

I will absolutely read the final book in this series about Jake but I don’t think I have it in me to read another MMM by August Jones in the future.

TECH BROS (BAY AREA BROS 3) di AUGUST JONES
5⭐4🌶

AUGUST JONES I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH!!! AMAZING BOOK! I REPEAT: FAVOURITE AUTHOR! Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity! I love you, I love you!
WOW! A new August book and never disappoint!
This is an MMM romance and OMG SO HOT!!
As August stated in the very beginning, this is was… a very complicated triangle!
The main characters of this book are: Evan, Isaac and Deacon.
Deacon and Evan share the same house, Deacon and Isaac start going out together after a blind meeting on an app. Did I say they work in the TECH? (That’s the meaning of “Tech Bros” title!)
Isaac is in love with Evan, who is his personal assistant, they have s*every time they can in the office, Deacon likes a lot Isaac and Evan has a crush on his roommate Deacon. ✨🎉
I must admit that Deacon was my favourite one in this book! He’s so pure and sexy… 🔥
I loved his relationship with Isaac, they were very cute and sexy! There were a lot of times when i cannot stand Evan. He was too much insecure. I get baby that you are jealous but Isaac is IN LOVE WITH YOU!! And you live with Deacon who is showing you (I MEAN!) that he likes you a lot but…no! “Omg, they are together now, what are they doing?” When you were… 🎉 with Deacon alone a moment before…. and Isaac was not angry or upset. Anyway when they finally all three of them FINALLY started to accept the relationship of 3, they were fantastic, absolutely adorable, i loved them very much and now that I finished the book, i will miss them all so badly!! Can’t wait for a re-read!!
Thank you August JONES for my ARC COPY!

------------------------------------

Questo libro mi è piaciuto tantissimo! Mamma mia quanto ho amato Deacon!

When I say that August Jones is the queen of spice, this book is the reason why. It was absolutely obscene. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when one of the callouts was “bizarre love triangle,” but this was definitely one of the more unique MMM romances I’ve ever read. It’s also very different from August’s other polyamorous romance, The Director, and I admire her ability to write such a wide range of relationship dynamics.

One of the things I know a lot of readers struggle with in polyamorous romance novels is the relationship dynamics being balanced. I will say that in Tech Bros, there are some disparities as they make their way through the plot. When this is advertised as a hard-fought happily ever after, it’s no joke. These three have to go through quite a bit of turmoil to find their happily ever after, and ultimately learn to exist as a polycule as opposed to individual relationships with one another. I promise it does all come together in the end, and their happily ever after makes perfect sense for them! I don’t want to give too much away, but remember that when you want to scream at some of the characters and the choices they make. I really think August did an incredible job of writing Deacon and his Autism and ADHD. The way he communicates and ultimately interacts with the world is different from what we normally expect in conventional romance, and I always found his chapters insightful. Of course, you can expect cameos from characters in the first two books and I love the little found finance and tech family these characters have created.

Deacon, Evan, and Isaac were all such interesting characters and the way they formed their relationships with one another was really neat to explore. This book is filled to the brim with spice, and I liked how the author used the spice to deepen, and at times define, the relationships and connections between each man. This book also sets up the fourth book in this really cool series, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else August has in store for us. Another incredible addition to a fun series!

I received an advanced review copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"I need your help. I need you to show me what loving him looks like."
Tech Bros by August Jones.

This book, this story, these three men were everything. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, August Jones is truly one of the best writers and storytellers out there.

What makes her work so special, in my opinion as a devoted reader, is the trust she builds with us. You know you’re getting an HEA, a hard earned, beautiful one, but it’s what August does in the middle of the story that completely unravels you. She makes you feel. Deeply. Even when you know happiness is coming, she puts you so fully inside her characters’ hearts that every ache, doubt, and longing hits with incredible force.

This book is a masterfully crafted MMM romance, which is no easy feat. The depth, emotional complexity, and character development are so rich that you never quite know where the story is headed until you’re completely immersed. You’re inside Evan’s head as he convinces himself he’s only good for fleeting moments with Isaac. You’re right there with him when he asks Deacon, “Do you like me?” a question that carries so much vulnerability and pain. We’ve all been there, wondering why the person we care about seems to choose someone else, questioning our own worth. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
Then there’s Isaac, deeply in love with his assistant, paralyzed by fear when it comes to confessing his feelings, choosing silence instead, and finding himself drawn to someone else with undeniable chemistry. And Deacon, who experiences emotions differently from Evan and Isaac, yet still feels the sharp sting of jealousy as he watches how easily they connect. The tension between Evan and Deacon is palpable, and you can’t help but wonder, This is an MMM… how is this going to work? Evan asks himself that same question throughout the book.

Isaac loves them both, yet finds himself tangled in lies born from fear and lack of communication. And that’s what makes this story feel so real, misunderstandings, unspoken truths, emotional walls. August keeps your heart in a constant state of intensity, and before you know it, you’re completely in love with her characters and the world she’s created.

With every book, August raises the bar, bringing more creativity, complexity, and emotional care, always treating both her characters and her readers with deep respect. Writing an MMM romance that feels balanced, equal, and authentic is incredibly challenging, and she absolutely nails it here. These three men learn how to love each other, respect each other, and, most importantly, be honest with each other.

I loved them. I loved their growth, their patience, and the way they navigated hurt, confusion, and even tears to realize they were truly meant to be. I loved this book. I love this series. I loved seeing characters from the previous books, the playful moments with the side characters, and yes, Evan’s dog completely stole my heart. 🐶
I am beyond excited to see who’s next in this series. August Jones has once again delivered something unforgettable. 💛

Tech Bros - August Jones
5 ♾️/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

Oh. My. God. This rating is worth the infinity read because holy sh*t! This book was so perfect with these three guys. I don’t even know why I’m surprised because every book that August Jones has come out with has been so amazing, but this is probably my favorite that I’ve read and I haven’t even read them all.

Deacon, Evan and Isaac definitely had one of the most complicated relationships I have read and I was here for every part. It starts off where Isaac is Evan’s assistant but they’ve been sleeping together. Then, you find out that Evan has a big crush on his neurodivergent roommate, Deacon, an then there is the big crazy part where Deacon and Isaac met and went on a date and there is chemistry between them. I love how Isaac immediately told Deacon about his feelings for Evan… although, Deacon doesn’t find that part out later.

I love a book that makes you grip at your hair because you need to get to the happily ever after. This book did this and so much more. This book had me go through so many feelings from anticipating when each relation would turn into one. I’ve never ever read any books like this before and I loved how August mapped out every part of the guys emotions because it was a lot.

I really loved each of the guys in their own ways but Evan because he was the glue that really held them together. There is a certain part where things get intense and I wanted to throw my kindle because I was not expecting that to happen.

I’m not giving too much away because you truly need to read this book. The way that these three get their happily ever after, August Jones knows exactly what we want.

There were so many favorite moments. I really loved how we got to see Deacon and his appointments with his therapist because it showed a side we need to see.

The found family in this book was fantastic. We get some funny moments even though they were pretty ridiculous but I loved each and every part. The spice scenes were so steamy, especially when it was the three of them together.

Thank you for such an amazing book that I’m still emotionally invested in now.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

“The sexual tension between us is so thick, I can taste it. It’s always like this with him. He’s got a direct line to my d*ck-either that, or I’m under a spell.”

There’s something to be said about an August Jones book. Especially when she pens an MMM romance. Typically, my reviews highlight the myriad of kinks and high-heat situations that we encounter with an August book. However, I’m changing it up. Rest assured, Tech Bros is in no short supply of the sultry kinkiness we expect from Jones.

In Tech Bros, we finally get to know Deacon, Evan, and the elusive Isaac. Remember…” two lovers are probably what it would take to keep Isaac happy.” Here’s where things get complicated…Isaac likes Evan, who is also his assistant. Meanwhile, Evan is secretly crushing on Deacon, aka his roommate. Did I also mention that Deacon works at Isaac’s company as well?

Knowing this alone, it’s obvious things might get messy. In a series of chance occurrences, Deacon and Isaac find themselves in one another’s orbits, and the chemistry is off the charts. So, what happens when each guy realizes the simmering and festering feelings that have been brewing amongst them?

Tech Bros taps into what I’ve come to love about August’s writing. You get characters who, much like us, aren’t perfect. They might struggle to communicate, make mistakes, and question if polyamory works for them. It’s the relatability of Evan, Deacon, and Isaac that makes their story all the more enjoyable.

Lastly, I want to focus on the prominent theme in Tech Bros. Throughout the story, communication is a recurring element amongst Evan, Isaac, and Deacon. It’s messy, raw, and vulnerable. It’s also the realities of any relationship, let alone a polyamorous one. Over the course of 512 pages, you’ll come to see a new side of Deacon, implore Evan to give both men a chance, and watch Isaac experience heartbreak and heaven.

To me, Tech Bros is something different from August. It’s spicy, maddening, and guaranteed to put you through the full spectrum of emotions. The type of story and characters that only Jones can brilliantly craft and pull off. As I closed the chapter on Deacon, Issac, and Evan’s story. I eagerly await the next installment of the Bay Area Bros and who August will introduce us to next.
