Yoga Unveiled: My Spiritual Journey from Darkness to Light
In this compelling personal account, a former yoga instructor recounts her journey from deep involvement in yoga to a renewed life in Christ. Drawing on experience, research, and the light of Scripture, she examines the spiritual foundations of yoga and contrasts them with the truths of the Catholic faith. With honesty and compassion, this book offers both a warning and a testimony of grace, guiding listeners toward authentic peace through Christ-centered prayer, reverence for the body, and a deeper trust in God’s healing love.

This was a brave, fascinating, and unsettling book.
I have a lot to process and research.

Some excellent points made in this book. Yoga, how western people practice it, is NOT a benign or spiritually neutral practice. The author points out that Hindu, Secular, and Christian sources all agree on that fact. What's going on at the local Yoga studio is much more than exercise and stretching. It's an invitation to a darker spiritual reality.
The author shares her personal account of embracing and teaching Yoga, while not really understanding how it was antithetical to her Christian (Catholic) faith. Little by little she reveals the veil was removed from her eyes as she again embraced faith in Christ.
I really loved when the author used the Bible to prove several of her points.
As an evangelical there were natural disagreements with some of the distinctly Catholic viewpoints the author holds which I'm not going to solve in this review. I had to use a "mere Christian" approach through portions of the book.
This is a quick and worthwhile read. As many believers (Catholic/Evangelical) still believe that Yoga at your local studio is just about wellness and exercise. This book will prove to the reader that it is quite the opposite.
Given some disagreements with the author, I'd be hesitant to hand this off as resource without some precautions offered first. That said, if this was the first resource someone found regarding the spiritual reality of Yoga, they would've found a good starting point.

As a Catholic who sometimes researches the dangers of the New Age, I knew a lot of the things covered in this book before I read it. That being said, Carl's book is a great introduction to the dangers of yoga and I highly recommend it to any Christians who are involved in yoga, curious about yoga, or know someone who is involved in/curious about yoga.
The writing is very clear and easy to get into. And I appreciate how Carl divides the text into lessons about why yoga is problematic and real-life encounters that she and other yoga enthusiasts have experienced.

Overall I agree with the author's message that Yoga is distinctly a part of the Hindu religion and it is not possible to practice it without inviting Hindu pagan gods into your vessel. However, the author herself is part of the false Vatican II sect of pseudo-Catholicism and constantly cites heretics such as "Mother" Teresa, "Saint" John Paul II, "Pope" Francis among others who actually teach that a "good Hindu" has their own pathway to heaven and should not be converted or proselytized. Pray for the author to see her hypocrisy and return to true Traditional Catholicism. I cannot recommend this book for the above reason as it is supposedly leading people out of the darkness and into the light, but is actually just the blind leading the blind. Ironically she uses this very quote in the book without seeing her own heresy.

To any Christian who, like me, ever said, “it’s only stretching” or “I only do this for exercise”, please read this to understand better what you are saying yes to. When we go to sleep at night, we always lock the doors to prevent unwanted visitors. It is important that we guard our souls in the same manner and not leave any doors or windows open that unwanted wanted spirits can wander in to. It is amazing how easy we are to convince that a religious practice is exercise.
