Fall of Dawn

Rate this book
How much of memory is truth, and how much is a story we tell ourselves?

No longer a prisoner of Valen’s compulsion, Georgia’s mind is restored. But her memories of everyone around her are at war. Which Valen is the real one? The Valen who does Gregor’s murderous bidding or the one whose heated touch makes her question everything? Which Juno is her sister? The Juno who was always there for her, or the Juno who betrayed her?

Nothing is clear except the inevitable end. Hope dwindles as humanity’s future fades into endless night, but Georgia refuses to give up. Her dogged determination may be the only thing standing between the world and annihilation. But saving lives in this dark new world has a high price, and more often than not, it’s paid in blood.

✨ Summary:

Georgia’s mind has finally been restored but clarity doesn’t bring peace. Her memories are fractured, and the people she loves feel like strangers wearing familiar faces.

Is Valen the ruthless weapon carrying out Gregor’s bloody orders… or the man whose touch makes her question everything she thought she knew?

Is Juno the loyal sister who stood by her side… or the one who betrayed her?

As humanity teeters on the brink of annihilation and the world sinks deeper into darkness, Georgia is forced to confront a terrifying truth: memory can lie. And in this brutal new world, survival always comes at a cost.

Hope is fading. Blood is spilling. But Georgia refuses to surrender.

🔥 Vibes:

🌑 Dark dystopian fantasy
🧠 Memory loss + fractured reality
🩸 High stakes, blood-soaked survival

🔥 Obsessive, intense romantic tension
🌌 Humanity on the brink
👑 Strong but emotionally torn FMC
🌪️ “Who can you trust?” energy
🖤 Touch-her-and-die undertones
🕯️ Fading hope, stubborn resilience

✍🏽 My Review:

I’m going to be completely honest. I’m a little confused about the series order. I thought this was the final book, but the audiobook recommended House of Night, which I believed was book one. On Goodreads, the numbering looks different, and Fall of Dawn doesn’t appear as book three the way I expected. So I’m still unsure what the official reading order is supposed to be.

That said, this was a quick read at 246 pages (about 5½ hours on audio), and I did genuinely enjoy it. I just wish it had been longer.

For me, it felt rushed. The story had all the right components, but I kept feeling like it either could have been condensed into book two or expanded significantly as a longer third installment. I love long, immersive books, and this one left me wanting more depth and more space for everything to breathe.

I still have lingering questions, and some things weren’t fully clarified. I’m hoping the world expands further because there’s definitely more here to explore.

Valen, as always, is such a protective MMC, and the pet names get me every single time. 🥹

I think I’m sitting in that strange space where I enjoyed the story, but if this truly was the ending, I don’t know that I felt fully satisfied. I wanted more. More development, more clarity, more time in this world.

It wasn’t that I didn’t like it. I just needed more.

As for the audio, I loved the female narrator. I thought she did a phenomenal job bringing Georgia to life. It always cracks me up a little when a woman does a man’s voice because I genuinely thought Valen just had a slightly higher voice at first. Then when his chapters came up, I realized there was actually a male narrator as well. It would have been so lovely to have them go back and forth within the same chapters to really elevate the tension and emotion in those scenes. That said, I genuinely feel like both narrators did an excellent job bringing the story to life.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

3.5 stars?

This is the final book in the trilogy and I was disappointed that Valen and Georgia weren’t together the majority of the book. It also felt like there were a lot of loose ends that didn’t get wrapped up. This book is only 246 pages, and a little over 5 hours on audio so I just wish it had been longer so we could’ve gotten more answers.

The narrators both did a great job and overall this series is great on audio!

Thank you Dreamscape Media for the ALC!

ALC Review

I am really bummed about the book. I firmly believe the book felt rushed. I would have like more fighting between Valen and Georgia in the beginning. You know there was lying and using vampiric powers to forget memoires and such. I would have like a lot of fight before making up. Adding onto that, when they make up...I don't know MAKE THE ROMANCE BELIEVABLE? We didn't get much Valen and Georgia's romance. For me it just felt all lust and not even romance at all. When he's mad, sad or happy, what does he do? He fucks Georgia and at this point its kinda more of an ick.

I didn't mind the whole body gore and splater, but now that I'm finished, it felt redundant and the characters were too 2D. We didn't get much emotions....(especially with a certain character dying, so there's that.)

I really hope the book was going to end good..but now it's just..meh.

I recieved the ALC through Netgalley accepted by Dreamscape Media. This review is my true and honest thoughts

Pretty disappointed all around. I grabbed this as an ALC and nowhere did it ever mention that this is actually the third and final book of a trilogy. One in which I haven’t read and probably won’t now because I read the final book first. I’m sure I would have enjoyed this if I had read the books in order.

As far as the audio and narrators went, it was really well produced. I might try to go back and read the first two books at a later time when my brain has had the chance to forget what I just read. It might take a while though.

As for the writing, it feels like things were a bit rushed and underdeveloped. People seemed to really love the first two books so eventually I will have to check those out.

I have been obsessed with this series since I started it. This third book seemed rushed and just kind of fell short? I still enjoyed it because I love these characters and this world. Just sort of disappointed.

Truly tragic end to a great series. Most of this book didn’t keep my attention and when it did, it was over quickly. This book felt rushed.

Georgia is fighting with the overwhelming return of her memories after Valen’s mental compulsion finally breaks. She is consumed by the recollection of all that has happened as she recalls the full scale of the vampire apocalypse, the deaths of her colleagues, and the devastating realization that she killed Theo. This discovery creates yet another rift between her and Valen, whom she now sees as a manipulative liar who deceived her for months. At the same time, she is forced to face her sister Juno’s betrayal, as Juno has sold out the humans to Gregor in exchange for political power.

The good news is that at least in this book, they patch things up fairly quickly, but Georgia, being her usual stubborn self, once again chooses to trust others instead of Valen. As a result, she ends up in Gage’s hands, where she discovers that Valen has been secretly leading a rebellion, commanding the loyalty of both the Dragonis and Corvidion armies behind Gregor’s back.

Soon Georgia learns that, because she carries Dragonis blood from Valen, Gregor has been able to track her all along. This means that Valen’s attempts to protect and hide her have actually led Gregor straight to the secret human military base where Gage took her and sees that he can compel her to come to him.

I really liked that we got Valen’s POV, but the ending felt too rushed and abrupt after all the buildup across two books, Gregor’s fate, in particular, felt very sudden. Because after being summoned by Gregor and mauled by him, she manages to kill him the same way she did Theo, saving the humankind and the vampires because although Cole was there and Valen tied to a cross, nobody saved/helped her and she succeded alone. in the end I felt sorry for Juno, maybe she wasn't that bad after all.

I just happened upon the first book in this series and fell head over heels in love. PNR was my first reading love so I will always have a soft spot for it and still love a good PNR but this one is a little different which made me love it even more. The vampires are evil, they aren't sexy and wanted. They have methodically taken over America and plan to enslave and kill the humans. Humans are food and no more. What was though as a sickness has revealed itself to be a plan from the vampires and they are winning.

Georgia's sister was the president and Georgia was going to save all humans, now the president is a vampire and Georgia is farther away from a sure than ever. Valen is evil and a vampire or so Georgia thought now she knows better and he may be a key to helping the humans taking back America. This series was phenomenal and this last book in the series was well worth the wait. When I tell you I literally looked every day on Netgalley for this ARC I literally did. Every single day I looked for this book and requested it as fast as my fingers would move, while on vacation. I love this series, this last book is filled from beginning to end action packed.

The only thing I hate is that this series is over, this series is the first time I have read a Celia Aaron book and it won't be the last, I have told people in my real life to read this series. I just loved it and it felt so fresh and new. I will say don't start with this book start from book one and read them all, this isn't a book you can or should just start with book three. I can't recommend this book/series enough.

*Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC

This book is good. I do wish it was longer, but still really good. I know a lot of people on book 2 felt it was too long (among other things I personally didn’t agree with. Just because books have similarities doesn’t mean anything. I read books all the time that are very similar to other books) personally I didn’t. I enjoyed the length of book 2. Idk if that is why book 3 was shorter. For me it was a shame because this book was exciting, fast paced, and so good. I really could’ve done easily with another 100 pages. But that’s me. I enjoyed book 1 so much. Book 2 was great, and really I did love this book. The biggest drawback for me on this one was length which made it feel kind of rushed towards the end (which is why the book got a 4 instead of 5 stars). I can say this was a great experience with this author and I won’t shy away from her work in the future if I come across anything that I decide looks interesting. Nice wrap up to the story.

This dystopian paranormal romance is book 3 in the Fall of Dawn series. This book does have darker scenes and themes. This is the conclusion of the series. The romance in this book is an emotionally pre established relationship from previous books. This book does have open door spice. Georgia remembers. She wants to continue where she left off, and find a cure and to destroy the vampire. Except now she is confused on what’s real, her memory, or captivity. All she knows for sure is the end is coming, and she has to be ready.

WHOOO what a ride.

If you’ve read Celia Aaron before, you know it’s going to be rough, but worth it.

Idk what to say. If you love truly dark tales, you’ll love it. The content warnings are necessary; take them seriously. The first book is probably the darkest and most disturbing; if you can get through it then you can get through the series. The third even has some light moments. We get queer and disabled rep without that being the entirety of their characters, but an argument could be made that they fall into some tropes.*

The romance itself is not particularly dark, as dark romances go; it’s the surrounding circumstances that are truly dark. More details at the end of the review, if you’re unsure.

Overall, I’m glad I read it, and it was worth my time.

Some mild spoilers:
To be more specific (and a little spoiler-y) about the relative darkness of the series: Valen is brutal but everything he does is to protect Georgia. This much is clear relatively early on. He’s rough with her and at times a little mean to her, but it’s par for the course for dark romances. If you regularly read dark romances it will not be particularly shocking to you.

*Re: representation, there’s a little bit of the “kill your gays/disabled” trope, but frankly there are a lot of people dying, and their deaths have nothing to do with their queerness or disability status.

3.5 Rounded to 4 but the more I write the more I want to knock it down to 3....eeeeppp

I don't know what it was about this audiobook but it triggered my anxiety for almost the entire book. I was shocked to see how small this book is, perhaps Celia just wanted to be done with this story line? It felt rushed and it also felt like perhaps she could have made books 1 & 2 a bit longe to absorb this book and wind up with a duology instead.

Georgia and Valen spend a lot of time away from each other in this finale which is unfortunate but his feral possessiveness is chef's kiss per usual.

All in all this book was an OKAY ending to the trilogy, could it have included more? Yes. Am I happy with the ending? Ehhhh I guess? Like why does the redhead get to live? He's dangerous. I also would have liked the epilogue to have been perhaps centuries later with their love still as passionate.

Anywho, thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC. The narrators did a great job.

My final thoughts 🩸

So I have been in love with this trio from book 1.

Not SPOILERS really, but suggestions of spoilers so here is the warning ⚠️

I love the way Celia finished off this series.
I loved the reality that our MMC is truly a morally black vampire- who is only concerned with his “Kedves verem” & makes no apologies.

Georgia owning her actions in the final act was a “oh hell yeah” moment for me. That’s EXACTLY what I wanted.
And a few Valen pov chapters I was like kicking my feet, I had hoped we’d get some and we did!

My only criticisms:

id of liked it if we got a bit more on the vampires who were involved in resistance at end. Just where the F is Druin/David? Coal? Did we relocate melody ? I don’t want her memorial left at that Theo infused hellhole

Maybe some more in-depth explanation of final moments since it was a bit frantic I wasn’t sure what was up or down. Felt like a sudden end to a battle I was expecting to be a tad more intense. It felt slightly rushed is all.

But overall I am super happy and it’s getting all 5 stars. Celia is a great writer. These will be in my reread pile and treasured as I just loved the love of it.

Fall of Dawn by Celia Aaron (book three in the series) completely cemented my obsession. From start to finish, Aaron keeps the energy high while still weaving in those twisty, suspense-filled moments that make it impossible to stop listening.

Emilia Bauer returns as narrator and once again absolutely nails it. Her low, steady tone and excellent pacing were exactly what this story needed, adding even more intensity to an already gripping plot.

**Spoilers ahead ***

We find Georgia and Valen together again, and with Georgia’s memories fully restored, she’s forced to reconcile her past with the present as she continues her research—now racing to uncover both a cure and a poison that could save the human race. At the same time, she must decide whether Valen is truly the dark, broody, dangerous vampire she’s come to know… or the being from her memories who might help her save humanity.

It’s safe to say I’m thoroughly obsessed—this installment delivers nonstop momentum, emotional tension, and just enough suspense to keep you hanging on every word.

Thank you to Celia Aaron, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the ARC!

I received this ALC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Book 1 was not my favorite in this trilogy, but book 2 made it a bit more bearable. This one ties everything up quite nicely, and was short enough for me to finish in one sitting.

The plot continues where we left off in book 2, with Georgia roaming the streets of DC unable to remember much. There’s a ton of action and a few twists and turns along the way. We even see some familiar faces as we continue the book. This isn’t exactly a happy ending (because of the content, it’s pretty impossible to have a happy ending), but we do have a hopeful ending.

The characters in this book are the same as previous books, and we do have a bit of development. Nothing crazy, as it is pretty short, but some people show their true colors and others are fiercely loyal. I actually enjoyed a lot of the character interactions. The romance is a bit too alpha for me personally, but I still enjoyed it as a whole. The smut be smutting when we get to it as well.

This was easy to read and follow, but it’s very obvious you must read the first two books before diving into this. It’s a solid read for me at 3.75⭐️

3.5 rounded up

This is the finale of what was a fun vampire romance. What I really enjoyed about this whole series was that it was dystopian and not feeling like something that happened thousands of years ago. With the whole pandemic, vaccinations, etc. it felt like it could be something that happens in modern day.

I loved being back in the present with Valen and Georgia to continue their story. This was a super short read, which I'm okay with. The ending felt a bit rushed for me, but overall I was happy with the conclusion of the story and series.

Georgia stayed true to her values in that there's no species (human or vampire) that is all pure and good, and therefore the extinction of any one of the kinds is wrong.

I don't know if it could have imagined a more perfect ending to this series. It has been some time since I've read a really good dystopian book. Coupled with this being a horror romance and I was hooked. This is the first book I've read that is a horror romance that's dystopian.

Whem Georgia finally got her memories back I really felt for her because how she was dealing with two realities. The memories and moments she had before and the ones she just got back.

Valen was perfect as ever and I loved him so much. That man had gone through a lot in his life and would go through so much more for Georgia.

I will say that reading about Juno did hurt my heart bit. She may have done some terrible things but the love she had for her sister was never a question.

This was a wonderful series and I'm so glad I was able to experience it.

ALC Review

I enjoyed Fall of Dawn. It was a quick read that I devoured in one sitting. Even though it was wrapped up succinctly I find myself wanting more. My appetite for this trilogy and world hasn't been sated. I definitely see potential for a spinoff which I most certainly welcome.

I must speak about the narrators, Emilia Bauer and JD Tomlinson who did phenomenal jobs bringing this book to life. I loved the way they voiced these characters, each had distinct voices and accents. It was a true joy to listen to them bring this post-apocalyptic world to such vivid life.

I definitely recommend this series especially to those looking to dive into horrormance.

I thought this was better than the others two books until that second epilogue. It feels too familiar and unnecessary? The main point to it could have been included in the first epilogue since it was already implied.

I enjoyed the additional friends and all the people who showed up to help. I was so happy that one particular character came through at the end that I didjt expect.

Valen and Georgia's love story was tragic at times but overall I enjoyed how they didnt hurt each other the way other books would have forced two people on the opposite sides of a war to do. They did a great job keeping the relationship a secret until the end. I think that separates this from a few other popular books and will be less triggering for many.

I honestly don’t know how you went from really not feeling sure about this book Not even sure I’d continue the series to thinking that this is probably one of the best dystopian vampire series I’ve ever read. I honestly wish this would’ve been longer. This series was dark and gory and ridiculously good. I was on edge like the majority of this last book. The audiobook was done so well I loved getting to have POV from Valen! I think I would’ve liked his narrator to have a little bit deeper of a voice, but honestly, both of the narrators did such an amazing job with this.

Fall of Dawn is the third book in this series and it picks up where the last book left off. Georgia has regained her memories now that the spell that Valen had on her is no longer working. Georgia struggles with wanting to help find the cure with her other lab mates and staying with Valen, hidden away from his father. Georgia soon finds out that she is just a pawn for the surving military and they just want a cure in order to kill all the vampires. While Valen plays both side of the coin as he tries to keep Georgia safe from his father, who still wants her dead. This was a really good series and I enjoyed all three books in the series. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for letting me listen to an advance copy of this audiobook.

Yes!!!! I read all three of these books in the span of a few days and literally could not stop thinking about it. There were so many things happening and I really liked how book one drew me in and had so many secrets but then book 2 took me back to the origin of those secrets. Book 3 gave me the conclusion I want and the only thing I can think of that I would change is to make this story longer because I honestly just wanted to stay in this world. It’s a horror romance, so be prepared for gore and shock, but I honestly felt so many other emotions reading this as well. I really felt connected to a lot of the characters and I am absolutely obsessed with the way Valen is obsessed with Georgia 🩷 I will be recommending this series to anyone who will listen to me!!

Gripping and Suspenseful!

I was so excited to read this third instalment and I devoured it! I found the tension was unbearable in some parts, real ‘bite your nails’ time 😬 but I just lost myself in the story which was gripping and full of suspense.

I absolutely adored Valen, he is now in my harem of book boyfriends and Georgia is certainly one of my favourite FMC’s without a doubt. They are so good together *sigh* and the secondary characters, Wyatt and Evie, were fantastic.
I was very happy with the ending although I didn’t think it was going to end like it did when the confrontation with Gregor happened.

Great series!

Fall of Dawn by Celia Aaron was a mixed experience for me, especially as the conclusion to a trilogy.

The narrators were excellent and easily the highlight of this listening experience. Their performances added emotion, tension, and depth, and they truly brought the characters to life.

That said, for a final installment, this felt far too short. The story wrapped up quickly and didn’t give enough space to fully explore or resolve everything that had been built up across the series. Because of that, the ending fell short of feeling like a truly satisfying or impactful conclusion.

Huge thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for an ALC copy in exchange for my honest review.

I have to be honest. I didn’t love this one as much as I loved the first two books, but it was still a good conclusion. I didn’t feel the connection between Georgia and Valen like I did in the previous books. It might be because Valen is gone more than in the other books. He has his reasons, and they are important to the storyline. The story was solid. The conclusion was explosive. There were some good twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. Overall, a short but fun conclusion to a great series. 3.5 stars rounded up. I received this book from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I received this book as a ARC. I did not read the other two in the series. But I will. This book was easy to follow even through I didn’t read the other two. There’s a good mix of plot and spice. I throughly enjoyed the book.

Georgia is a human doctor. Vance is a vampire compelled by Gregor. They are mates.
Gregor will stop at nothing to get Georgia and Vance will do his best to not let that happen.
Georgia gets reunited with some old friends and they are not fans of Vance.
There is a happy ending to this book.

This series has been so good. I love the science nerds nerding out over the science and how that tells us the story in pieces. The main characters have the perfect push pull relationship that ends in fireworks both romantically and in personality clashes. The author also included just enough mystery as to who is trustworthy and who is a baddie in each book so you are always getting little or big surprises along the way.
The narrators were wonderful, they fit the characters well and the voice acting was great.

ALC 🎧 Book Review 🤍

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel like this could’ve just been edited into the second book—
Book 2 was such a Naruto flashback and then this felt like a 20min episode 😭🤍

But it was a decent conclusion, nothing too insane.
In fact it was really straight forward…
A slight twist, but sadly, I just wasn’t as engaged as I was in book 1. It def felt a bit rushed.

Emilia Bauer and JD Tomlinson did a good job narrating this 🎧🤍
