Kaden Mills returns home from vacation to find a very specific request on his desk. An old acquaintance, Marcus Burke, is in trouble. He’s receiving death threats against his daughter, but he has a long list of enemies and nowhere else to turn; he needs Kaden’s help.
The job is simple. Find the enemy, protect the asset - by any means necessary.
It doesn’t take long for Kaden to detect that the threat is close to home, and Marcus is right not to trust anyone. Little does Kaden know that there’s more to the narrative than he’s been told.
Ashleigh Burke isn’t the standard-issue snowflake that Kaden expected. He’s underestimated her, a grave mistake, but one that he would be careful not to repeat. The more time he spends with her, the more he finds himself questioning everything he thought was true. She’s piqued his interest, but it’s more - an obsession is growing, flowing through his veins and slowly taking over his entire being.
Now, if only Kaden can gain Ashleigh’s trust enough to save her life.
In Cupid City, Valentine’s means glittering galas and dangerous secrets. Heartline Security keeps the city breathing between fireworks and threats. That is, until each protector meets the one person worth breaking protocol for.
Fall in love this February where these standalones serve high heat, high stakes, and heart-melting HEAs. Guards up. Hearts open. Valentine gives love the last word.
Hi! I'm Chelsea, an author of contemporary romance. I write anything from PNR to Mafia to sweet small-town romance. Simply put, I write what I like to read.
I love to read, write, travel, lift heavy weights and spoil my puppy. When I'm not writing, I'm in the gym prepping for Strongman competitions or working as a Group Exercise Instructor.
In 2018, I released my debut novel Lunar Accord and that began my writing career. I currently have over 15 books published and plan to hopefully release many more.
Ashleigh falls hard and fast, but does Kaden feel the same? Can he be trusted or will he see straight through her and undo every plan she has? Like a mirage the picture shown is only a partial picture. Initially this seems like a straightforward and easy case for Kaden, thankfully he doesn't take everything at face value, he watches, he assesses and he reads far more into everything and everyone and you have to respect him for it. He doesn't just accept what he is told, he makes his own judgement and acts accordingly. A steamy read on Kindle Unlimited.
The story is fine but the time line is screwed up and the pov switches by the paragraph in more than one place. I wanted to start red penning it about 1/4 of the way in.
