Royally Mistaken is beautifully written, with a fairytale ending that wraps up everything. The main characters are enduring, and I liked them right away. A prince who was tired of his every move appearing in the headlines moved to the U.S. along with his butler, and a real estate agent who is also a photographer for an animal shelter. They met under some very humorous circumstances.
A budding romance happens, but not without questions from both sides. I loved the faith element in the story and the fact that God takes the hurting and broken and makes them whole again.

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover. At least that tends to be the reaction when someone falls from grace. But in this case the saying that ‘a picture’s worth a thousand words’ fits perfectly. To be honest, both statements are true.
Here we see that ‘judging’ statement works two ways. First, the cover on Royally Mistaken is great. It almost talks to you if you really study it. You see a beautiful couple happy in love. That picture sure is worth a thousand words… but the cover doesn’t tell it all. It’s also said that into each life a little rain must fall, and so it does.
The book’s title gives us a hint. Could it be that Andrew, who is going by Drew, is a real prince that would rather stay under the radar? And if so, why? Could it be he is being wrongly judged by his royal family? It seems that his father, King of Rimaldion, and his brother who is set to inherit the throne, aren’t too happy with Andrew. He’s accused of being a playboy and an embarrassment to the family. After all, his picture is spread all over the tabloids… and those tabloids would never misconstrue things, let alone lie, would they?
Andrew is fed up and wants his own life, one without the pressure of royalty, a life where he’s just Drew. Off to America he goes and decides to settle down in Brighton Bluff where he meets Sawyer. And yes, the attraction is there but it’s not that simple. Sawyer has her own story to tell. She’s been hurt badly with a failed relationship and no longer sees herself with someone else, let alone trusting again.
But with God all things are possible and Drew learns a lot from Sawyer about his Creator. So yes, faith plays a positive role in this story, but also anticipate emotion, humor, and even some good sassiness.
Oh yes, remember that book cover and it's title? It knows perfectly how to tell a story. Enjoy reading. The ending is great.

A scandal by a friend claiming he fathered her baby has caused Prince Andrew Ferdinand Lancaster to escape from his country and ended up in a small town. He is a second son and has always been a disappointment to his family, especially his father and brother. Of course, they don’t believe him when he told them it isn’t possible that she lied. Now he is hoping the people in this town don’t recognize him and he can settle down. Sawyer Shatley is busy as a realtor, fostering pets, and as a photographer for the local animal shelter. Her roommate says no more pets as it is a small apartment. She would love to have Moose but knows the space is too small and her roommate would leave. She doesn’t date as her last boyfriend lied to her, cheated, and broke her heart. Her first meeting with Drew was she mistook him for a Santa that was late and shoved him in a closet with the Santa suit. It wasn’t till after all the children had left that she got the message the real Santa had a flat tire and couldn’t make it. As she is about to go back and apologize, she sees him coming out with Moose. As these two spend more time together, she finds he isn’t anything like her ex and could see a future with him. A great clean love story with a happy ever after.

Prince Drew moves to Brighten Bluff, in the US, to disappear from publicity in his own country after an unsubstantiated accusation. Sawyer is a real estate agent and volunteer at the animal shelter. They meet when Sawyer mistakes Drew for her missing Santa for the shelter fundraiser. Then Drew discovers she is his realtor, tasked with finding him the perfect home. Is she also his perfect match?
This is a humorous Christian romance with wonderful characters in a small town you would love to call home.

Drew is a prince, but the younger brother. His father never cared for him. He poured everything into his older brother. Now that his brother is married with 3 sons, Drew isn't in line for the kingship - which is fine. When the tabloids spread a story about him, he moves to Brighten Bluff to get away from the condescending looks of his father and brother. Sawyer is a realtor. She mistakes Drew for the Santa at the dog shelter. When she realizes her mistake, she is embarrassed. Drew takes it well. She helps him find a larger house to live in. She was dating a guy for 2 years and he was a criminal, so she doesn't trust very easily. When she realizes Drew is a prince, she is even more hesitant to be friends with Drew. But, she realizes that he is looking for a home just like the puppies at the shelter. Such a sweet book.

Becoming completely fed up with the tabloid lies, among other things related to being a "royal", Prince Andrew "Drew" Ferdinand Lancaster decides to come to America and brings his long-time butler with him. When he goes to a local pet shelter during a benefit to find homes for the shelter animals, Sawyer, the young lady photographer participating in the event, mistakenly thinks he is the Santa Claus who had not showed up. Drew went along with the charade and ultimately became a friend but does not reveal his true identity to her which leads to some interesting and comical situations. There is definitely an attraction brewing, but what will happen when everything comes to light and Sawyer finds out who he really is?

I could clearly picture this book as a Great American Family movie as Price Drew came to Brighton Bluff to get away from his family obligations and not feel like he could not live up to his father's or his brother's expectations and the constant paparazzi following him. around hoping he would make a mistake.
I really liked how Brighton Bluff and Sawyer brought him a quiet relief and how his life changed after he attended the Christmas Eve candlelight service with Sawyer. I liked how Sawyer and Drew first met and she mistook him for the late Santa at the Christmas Fair where she was the photographer. The proceeds were to benefit the animal shelter. I received an advance copy of this book, and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

A case of mistaken identity results in Andrew, an undercover prince, playing the part of Santa for local children and their pets. When Sawyer is approached to find a suitable house for ‘Drew’, she realises the mistake she made…
This novella initially presents as a fairly light-hearted story but has the added undertones of a lonely young man who looked for acceptance throughout his childhood, and a gentle woman who sees his need and uses her faith to lead him in making wise decisions for his future. This is my honest opinion of a review copy received from the author

Oh so good!
This is a very heart-warming story. It has some amusing moments and adorable furry friends. Their initial meeting clearly got them off on the wrong foot, but they soon found the right path. Drew is a great guy who has been betrayed and needs to be seen for who he really is. Sawyer is gentle with a sassy side at times. They make a great couple. We get to follow their growth together, especially his coming to know the Lord through her influence.
I enjoyed the story. Definitely a re-read for me! I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

A Sweet Christmas Royalty Romance.
Drew and Sawyer's story starts with an amusing miscommunicated "meet cute" at the animal shelter Sawyer volunteers at. Not sure if I was more amused with how Drew was coerced into a Santa suit or Sawyer's humiliation and subsequent grovelling apology. 🤣
While our love interests were flawed and did or said something annoying at some point in the story (don't we all?), I liked them both. 😊
If you enjoy stories with animls (especially dogs), royal romances, small town wintry Christmases and a faith arc, this story might be just what you'd hoped to find under the Christmas tree. 😉

Royally Mistaken is a delightful, fun, Christian, mistaken identity, small town romance! I was rooting for Sawyer, Drew and all the shelter animals. There is so much love is Sawyer - for the animals especially. I was delighted that Drew finally found some place he was not a disappointment. As always, Ms. Hiers' books prove that God's plans are far superior to man's. After a humorous meet-cute, Sawyer helps Drew find a larger home. She finally realizes he is not the playboy that the tabloids depict and he finds a home where he is accepted. They finally get their HEA.

I liked this story. Drew is not the player the tabloids paint him to be. We see him be nothing but sweet and gentlemanly.

November 24, 2025 A case of mistaken identity is the first meeting of Sawyer and Drew. Things between them go better after that! But there are hurdles for Drew to jump before he can think of a relationship. Sawyer and Drew have so much in common theur love of helping animals and people in need. They are both also very attracted to one another. It takes Drew a bit to get past his hurdles everything in order but her does! This paves the way for Sawyer and Drew to be together!

After it is over and she is in her car, she realizes her error and hopes she never sees him again.

I love Drew and Sawyer's story. Drew left his country to come to Brighton Buffs. He never felt good enough or loved by his family until he found the Lord in his new hometown. I love the interactions and connections between Drew and Sawyer. I loved the opening scene of how Sawyer meets Drew!

This is a sweet story that reflects how “God can make a masterpiece from our mess”. Prince Andrew has left his country over an untrue scandal that his family believes. He finds more than he is looking for when he arrives in the states. Being mistaken for Santa while trying to rescue a shelter pup was not on his radar. Neither was the intriguing lady, Sawyer Shatley. I recommend this book for a heartwarming fairy tale like story.

This heartwarming love story for Sawyer and Prince Andrew, "Drew" is a wonderful Christmas romance. I loved everything about this story: the cover, the setting in small town Brighton Falls, and the characters including shelter animals especially a dog named Moose. This heartwarming love story for Sawyer and Prince Andrew, "Drew" is a wonderful Christmas romance. I loved everything about this story: the cover, the setting in small town Brighton Falls, and the characters including shelter animals especially a dog named Moose. Dora Hiers never fails in providing excellent Christian romances that don't embarrass me. I highly recommend this and all books by this author. This is my voluntary and honest review.

What a delightful tale of destiny with a prince. Both people seeking a forever home with someone who they can love and trust, only to be broken hearted again? Our author leads this couple through all phases of their relationship, with lots of encouragement from each other and GOD. Full of inspirational dialogue and faith leading. Beautiful.

This was the sweetest story! From the writing to the story, this book draws you in and keeps you turning the pages until the end! I loved that this book was about letting go, hope, faith and trusting in God. Drew and Sawyer were made for each other and I loved that they were honest. This story had all my favorite things in it. Such an enjoyable and entertaining read. A fantastic feel good book!

Absolutely magnificent love story, I fell in love with Sawyer the moment I started reading her story. Her cheating ex, her love for the dog shelter, meeting Andrew are all the little moments that will make you love this book. I highly recommend it you won’t be able to put it down. Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy.

I loved their 'meet cute' where Sawyer mistakes Drew for the hired Santa - and berated for being late at that - when he was actually there to adopt a dog. Lots of fun banter and you couldn't help feel sorry for how Drew was treated by his family and 'friends', it was no wonder he was hiding out! A fun clean read. I received an ARC but this review is my own.

Very good, quick read. I love how Sawyer mistakes Drew for the Santa at the shelter. He is a great Santa, both with the kids and the pets. Drew wants to give Sawyer all the time she needs to see he is not how the world sees him. Lovely faith filled story.

Another sweet Christian romance from fabulous Dora Hiers. Sawyer isn’t looking for love but can charming Prince Andrew steal her heart and show her he is more than everybody thinks. A great love story full of faith, sweet moments, furry friends and Christmas magic.

Drew needs time away from his family. He and Sawyer cross paths and they are destined to be together. This was such a beautiful story that had me captivated right from the beginning. Such a great story.
