Deadly monsters roam the land, and the only way to stop them is by killing… or capturing them.
Jack Bradley was just another office peon going through the motions of life, until he fell asleep on the subway and woke up in another world.
A world full of monsters called Crimoth.
The people of this land cower behind city walls, but even those stone protections can falter.
And that’s where the Academy comes in.
The Academy teaches a range of combat classes, from Healers, to Mages, to Beast Hunters, and the ever dwindling numbers of Summoners.
Summoners are the only people who can capture, tame, and utilize the Crimoth in battle, and Jack finds himself part of this now rare class. Despite being new to this world, he must learn how to use his Summoned creatures and also how to work seamlessly with the other classes.
Because if he doesn’t, both he and this world might fall.
If you like pet LitRPGs, You'll love Summoner Academy!
Not a bad start, pretty standard Isekai stuff. Boring life, strange teleportation, you’re a wizard (summoner) Harry. After that it’s a lot of tell don’t show and repetition. Some very beginner mistakes and fumbles in the storytelling and a lot of pieces that seem if not bad, at least badly explained.
It takes way longer to get through than it deserves because it feels like you’re reading the same thing over and over over but there wasn’t anything technically wrong with it.
Story felt a bit like i was listening to Sky High meets Pokemon with about the same level of quality. While i'm not a fan of books that take half their length to get past the world building aspects and to the actual story, at least they have a solid setting. Starting off it's literally the same subway summoning as in Shazam, right down to everyone disappearing while he wasn't looking and the text glitch. Then it's like he was born to be the MC when he gets to the other world and just jumps right into action.
I don't think he ever freaks out like any normal person would or has any kind of panic attack, just rolls with it like he does that every week. A week being the main thing here as that's about how long this book covers, with him accomplishing before breakfast in his first couple hours there what most authors would do in the first third of a book and at least days if not weeks of time. I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't a new day and that the MC was supposed to be old enough to have graduated college and become a lawyer since it felt more like he was a teenager and so much was happening so quickly.
Instant friends for no apparent reason other than they talked? Love at first sight that feels the same way? Somehow outperforming everyone who grew up there not only in his class but even someone who has lived for over 100 years, especially with no real sword experience? It would have been more believable if we found out he was born and raised there with all the equivalent experiences but had his memories replaced and was sent to Earth before being summoned back and acting on muscle memory.
There are plenty of books out there that have similar themes that do it right, whether it be walled city survival, magic school or summons battles. Most of it boils down to not having everything happen quicker than the average person binges a show. While it wasn't a terrible book, the lack of character integration into the setting left me more excited for the book to finish than for any part of the actual story.

I think this is about as perfect as a summon/ tamer litrpg book can be. I do think I feel the power of friendship vibes may come on a few times a little thick, but it’s endearing. The action is great, The powers are cool, and the creatures are varied and dope as heck. The tamer/ summoner class is my fav to read about in the genre and this book has just tied for number 1. I can’t wait for more.
This was a quick and easy, enjoyable read. I would have loved it if it had been twice as long. Of course, this just means that I have to wait for the sequel to enjoy more of this world. It was well written and edited, The characters were easy to like and the world was full and easy to imagine.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. Once I started reading it was impossible to put down. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
Pretty standard summoner book. Decent world building. Don’t understand why the tanks are given leather armour and a sword without a shield. But that’s why they have healers I guess. But still a decent read
Looking forward to reading book 2- I truly enjoyed this book hopefully book 2 won't be long in the making- looking forward to seeing the main characters grow
Note to self: first half was good, midway somewhere the MC realized he was an MC as did everyone else around him, and every supporting character got a personality wipe to become adoring fans. Still, interesting pet system, and the narrators of the audiobook are great. I'll keep going to book 2, eventually.
