Miss Lucy Davenport had never known true contentment. As the unremarkable middle child, she had long accustomed herself to a quiet existence—always attentive to the needs of others, while attempting to remain unseen herself. There were only ever snippets of time, when she could retreat to her childhood treehouse, where she hoped that one day, she might summon the courage to claim happiness for her own.
Mr. Anthony Hartwell had never been permitted the indulgence of choosing his own future. As the fifth son of a noble house, there was no inheritance awaiting him. Instead, his parents secured for him both a magical apprenticeship and a commission in His Majesty’s army. But no one could decide the affections of his heart. After years of absence in the field, Anthony had come to learn that what he desired most in life was Lucy Davenport. But it would seem that this too, was out of his control. Ultimately, it is she who must choose him.
I was so excited for this novella because I was dying to know the story of what really went down with the scandel of Lucy & Anthony's quick nuptials. Instead or really in addition, I got a beautiful story of friends falling in love (kinda brother's best friend but a cousin's best friend here). I have loved this series as a whole and this last segment does not disappoint at all. It makes me want to reread them all over again!! It's a warm and cozy love that makes you stay up late reading, blushing and giggling to yourself!! Highly recommend!
What a wonderful way to wrap up the Magical Regency series!
This novella is a quick but beautifully written story that gives us some insight to Lucy Davenport and Anthony Hartwell’s little love story. This was the final book that Keelin has put out for the series but I think it would be best suited to read this first and then dive into the rest of the series. It takes place before the first book but don’t worry there aren’t any spoilers.
This Bridgerton meets Magic series is such a cozy read that anyone can enjoy. There aren’t any spicy scenes, making this a perfect read for a younger reader. I will never stop recommending all of these books and will more than likely be rereading them all again soon!
This was such a sweet and clean friends to lovers novella. We’ve gotten tidbits of what happened to Lucy and Anthony in the other books but never the whole story. I loved that this novella gave us all the details of what occurred to Lucy and Anthony. I also loved getting the fact that reading this novella before or after the 1st book makes no difference, there are no spoilers either way. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.
A perfect, cozy extended world novella with Christmasy elements! I'm so glad the author chose to give us a peek into Anthony and Lucy's lives. It also added some clarity to Charles and his character. Its a quick read, but has plenty of character development and action! Very much enjoyed it and looking forward two more from this Author!
Such an adorable addition to this series! I was so excited to find out that there wpuld be anither, and I loved matching the tidbits about Lucy and Anthony sprinkled throughout the other books to this story. Short, sweet, and perfect for those looking for a feel good read.
The backstory we all needed. Short but sweet. I really enjoyed getting Lucy's side of things, especially since she plays such a pivotal role in the first book's plot line. It felt like we got Mary Bennet's story---the forgotten Bennet sister.
Adorable! I’m so glad we finally get Lucy’s story—hers is truly crucial to the entire trilogy, and seeing how her relationship with Anthony comes together was a delight. This novella is every bit as charming and well-written as the three full novels.
I also loved the subtle nod to Susan’s future husband at the end. My only gripe? I wish there had been a clear, unequivocal admission that Charles used Machiavellianism on Lucy. It’s touched on, but I wanted that accountability fully addressed on the page, because we KNOW that he took her blood.
A sweet, satisfying addition to the series, and one that fills in an essential piece of the puzzle.
