He was her escape. She became his reason to fight.
It was supposed to be one night. No names. No attachments. Just her. She was sunshine and sin and everything I’d forgotten how to feel. Then I lost her—and the rest of my damn life with her. Now I’m home, broken in more ways than one, trying to put myself back together. The last thing I expect to see is her—the woman I can’t forget—working at the rehab center my best friend helped to build. Paige Hayes. My best friend’s little sister. The one woman who’s completely off-limits. But the more I try to stay away, the more I want her. And if I let myself fall again, it won’t just be my heart on the line.
A SEAL’s Sacrifice is a second chance steamy romance between a single mom and a wounded warrior.
I borrowed A SEAL's Sacrifice ~ Jeke's Heroes ~ Book 4, by Sadie King, author from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Amazon.
Paige meets Ryan in a bar on the other side of the state and they give each other fake names; she is Rose and he is Sargarent Gary and after a weekend they part and he is deployed and she goes home without telling each other their real names.
Three years later he retruns from a deployment without a leg and his bes friend, Paige's brother brings him to Jake's Retreat for wounded veterans. He discovers he has a son and found his rose.
Loved both strong characters and how they worked to figure it out and work to make things work with understanding and committment.
Paige and Ryan, they spend two intense nights together and then go their separate ways without sharing any way of contacting each other. Move forward three years, Ryan is recovering from losing a leg, Paige is a single mum who is helping out at the place Ryan is receiving therapy. It’s very clear these two are meant to be together and after him stopping his own personal pity party he helps and supports Paige discover who is vandalising her property. Two strong people finally reconnect. Story ends quite quickly with two happy adults and a cheeky child.

I read the prequel to this one and was DYING waiting for the rest of Ryan and Paige's story. Thankfully for the rest of the world, you dont have to wait because the stories are now combined! Win! Ryan and Paige had a hot and heavy weekend of anonymous fun that absolutely sucked me in and devastated me when they parted ways. Turns out so much more happened that weekend than we realized and three years later... worlds collide again!!! There was so much healing and second chances! Ryan is in such a bad place when we meet him three years later and Paige really brings the love and purpose he needs in order to heal 😍.
Paige is almost done with college and pretty much graduated, but her mom has passed away and she will be meeting her brother at home in a few days when he gets off on leave. Paige decides to head to bar at Fort Bragg, on her way home and stop to lose her v-card there to a man she chooses. A few men try to pick her up, but they are her age and she considered them boys still. When Mystery Man stands up to a drunk guy for her and tells him to act like the soldier that he is, she decides MM is the one for her. She decides MM is much like her brother, Hudson, someone in special forces. She tells him that the name he can call her is Rose, and he Sargent Gray. But, his real name is Ryan, and he is a Seal. I love how they are compatible when they start playing a game on what they like better. Hawaiian pizza with pineapple. (Ugh, the only toppings I’ll accept on pizza is mozzarella, cheddar and bacon. Maybe extra cheese. )
They are so cute together, even tho there is more than a decade between their ages. She gives him 3 rules, one of which is that they don’t use real names. Etc. From there on out it gets down right steamy. I found all of this to be cute, sweet, romantic, steamy, sexy, fun and funny. Then they leave each other. She to go home and he to return to duty. Except, he realizes that he wants more with her, but something happens he did not expect.
Three years later, Ryan still is wondering what happened to his Rose. Hudson is his buddy and gets Ryan into Jake’s Retreat, the first to go there, as it isn’t quite ready yet to open fully. Ryan had lost part of his leg to an IED. Hudson had helped to get the place open in his hometown. Hudson had also come home early because his sister had gotten pregnant and won’t tell anyone who the father is. Her son is little Noah and he is freaking adorable. Some of the people in town treat Paige horribly for being a single mom that lets her son yell in public and throw tantrums. I wanted to yell at them that it is not their business to talk about her and that she needs a man to give the boy discipline. I got absolutely livid over that.
Hudson does his best to get Ryan to not give up and to get him to go to Physical Therapy and to move. But, it is when he finally does leave his room, he sees someone he thought he would never see again- his Rose, with a little boy and finds out that he is her son. He finds out that her real name is Paige and that she is Hudson’s sister. Paige now has her own small gardening business and there are some weird things that are happening on her property, which is also where she works, so she can bring Noah there with her. It is good to see Joel and some of the other characters from previous books there. Paige’s bestie is Avery, who was also Jake’s sister. Avery helps with Noah while she is working at the Retreat. Finally, the question that Ryan has been wondering about is answered about Noah. Things go to heck after that because Hudson overhears the answer. More weird things begin to happen progressively. Finally, since Hudson is going away for a job, Ryan steps up quickly, forcing himself to get used to the prosthetic so that he can protect Paige and Noah at their home. I was impressed with how stubborn he could be and thank goodness he does this, as a lot of stuff gets resolved during this time. When the person who is causing all the problems and weird things is caught, I wasn’t shocked who it was. It made sense. How Ryan handles it made me love him more and I was very impressed with him. Punishment totally fit the crime. lol. I chortled for quite some time afterwards about it. I would honestly like to know how the dude handles his punishment. lol. I love the end of the book. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I also cried some during this book.

This is a heartfelt story about pain, loss, true love, forgiveness, found family, and a will to live again.
I am so in love with this story, I had the prequel to this book, so I was glad to read the rest of the story. This book starts in the past, when "Rose" meets "Sargent" at a bar, he rescues her from a drunk, and they recognize a bond that just magnetically brings them together. Their passion is scorching, but she is grieving her mom's loss, he is older, and though they are so into each other, they leave, but the memory of the night will haunt them both.
Three years later, Paige is trying to keep her business afloat., as a single mother, she is always trying to do the best for her kid, strong, dedicated, and still harboring feelings for the man she met that night as "Rose". Ryan, has spent the past years looking for his "Rose", but an IED has taken part of his body and his work as a seal, he is wounded, feeling the loss of ,more than the leg, and adjusting to a new reality.
Hudson, is a friend to Ryan, and brings him to his hometown to help him with his PT, and he discovers Paige is his little sister, But he also learns that she is now a single mom to Noah, a little boy who is the result of their passionate night together.
What seemed like a bleak future for the wounded soldier starts to once again feel like a start, there is now a reason for him to continue with life as a father, and showing "Rose" she is the one he loves. But when there are forces trying to get Paige out of business, and her brother finds out about who Noah's father is. Can he be brave enough to claim his family? Can he rescue Paige? and can Paige finally accept his love?
A great story about the reality of a vet -lightly told- and the struggle to come back to civilian life injured and unsured of what comes next. The power of love and family are the answer to his recovery
A great read!.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A SEAL’s Sacrifice is an emotionally charged, deeply moving romance that blends wounded-hero vulnerability with forbidden longing in a way that truly resonates.
Ryan’s story hits hard. He’s not just physically broken—he’s fractured in spirit, identity, and hope. Sadie King does an excellent job portraying the aftermath of service without romanticizing the pain. His struggle to rebuild himself feels raw and authentic, and his internal battle between desire and duty adds real emotional weight to every interaction.
Paige is far more than “the best friend’s little sister.” She’s compassionate, steady, and quietly strong—the kind of woman who doesn’t try to fix Ryan, but stands beside him while he learns how to fight for himself again. Their past connection gives the story a bittersweet ache, and the fact that she works at the rehab center makes their reunion both tender and devastating. Every glance, every almost-touch, is loaded with restraint and longing.
The forbidden aspect is handled beautifully. It’s not just about rules—it’s about loyalty, guilt, and fear of causing more damage when both characters are already carrying so much. The push-and-pull between them is intense, emotional, and completely believable.
What truly sets this book apart is how love is portrayed as motivation, not a cure. Paige doesn’t magically heal Ryan—but she becomes his reason to keep going, to keep choosing life, growth, and connection. Their love is earned, not rushed, and the payoff is incredibly satisfying.
If you love wounded veterans, forbidden romance, emotional depth, second chances, and heroes who have to fight their way back to themselves, A SEAL’s Sacrifice is a powerful, heart-gripping read that lingers long after the final page. 💙🔥.

Prequel -This story is crazy good! Rose who is grief stricken about her mother dying. She wants to do something “life changing” for herself to feel alive. She is at a bar and gets to talking to a guy who helped her out with a troublesome drunk. His name is Sargent. Rose decides to go with him to get pizza and then who knows. Sargent and Rose seem to have a lot in common. This story is hot, steamy, passionate, yet shows warmth and tenderness too. It’s a quick read with characters who have wild chemistry together. Full - I loved the prequel, so I knew I wanted to read the rest of the story. It didn’t disappoint. It showed two people who still felt the magic, the electricity that they shared that weekend was still there. They each tried to find each other. It was a shock when they saw each other 3 yrs. later. But Ryan first needed a reason to survive and live. He found that when he finally found Rose (Paige). When he found he had a son, Noah. Ryan wanted to be there for his love of his life and his son. This is story is filled with the bond and strength of ex-SEALS, the family Ryan found and the love that was real. It was passionate, tender, emotional and loving. I really enjoyed the story!.

This is the continuation from the prequel story but if you didn't read it no worries. It is the first chapters of this book.
Paige and Ryan aka Rose and Sergeant Gray had an amazing weekend together three years ago. Both needed to forget for a bit and got lost in each other's arms. No real names, no numbers. Just an amazing weekend.
Ryan couldn't forget Rose and when he came back from deployment he went to the bar hoping to find her each time but never did. Now, he is back and wounded. His buddy got him into the retreat early knowing it was what he needed to survive.
When he sees Rose/Paige he can't believe his eyes. When he finds out it is his best friend's sister he is in more trouble. But when he sees the little boy with her he knows he lost all chance. But did he?
When Paige meets Ryan, her brother's best friend, she can't believe who it is. She never forgot him, how could she? Now he is back and she wants to help him with his recovery too.
When Paige gets threats, Ryan vows to step up. He will do anything to show her he never stopped caring.
Will Paige let him in fully? Can he be the man she deserves?.

Another emotional story from Jake’s Heroes. It was wonderful to watch Paige and Ryan find their way back to each other. Three years of trying to find each other. Paige struggling as a single Mom, trying to get her business going. Ryan came back no longer whole. Feeling sorry for himself and no real reason to get out of bed. Hudson forces him out of his room to wander the grounds of the retreat. To Ryan’s amazement he finds his “Rose” working the gardens with her adorable son Noah. Paige is shocked when she sees Sergeant Gray in a wheelchair with her brother. As the truth comes to light there is a lot for all involved to process. As Paige experiences sabotages to her business, she defaults to her stubbornness of doing everything herself. Ryan realizes that something is wrong and he needs to stop feeling for himself and step up. The Seals motto “ the only easy day was yesterday” makes him work hard to be able to help Paige. He will always find a way to protect his family. Their journey to becoming the family they were always meant to be is amazing to watch unfold.

*A SEAL’s Sacrifice* is the fourth book in the Jake’s Hero series, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Three years ago, Ryan and Paige shared a special weekend where they were completely anonymous, just two people trying to escape their pain. Little did they know, they created something beautiful that night—a bond they would never forget.
Fast forward three years, and fate brings them together again! Ryan is back, but he’s facing some tough battles of his own, both physically and emotionally. However, reuniting with Paige and meeting their son fills him with hope and a renewed sense of purpose. Things get even more complicated when Ryan discovers Paige is being harassed and her property is being damaged.
This situation not only draws them closer together but also gives them the chance to heal from their past. Their journey is filled with heartfelt moments and undeniable chemistry as they work towards their happily-ever-after. I absolutely adore this series! It’s truly amazing, and I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store next!

A story of grief, independence, hope and second chances with so many other emotions woven in. Ryan was the perfect man for Paige, in every aspect of her past and present. He was so understanding and tender with her when needed, even when barely knowing her. I loved that he slowed it down to get to know her, but read her well enough to know what she needed in other aspects too. Life shaped them over the 3 years they were apart, but the determination to be the man she needed was always there. Wasn’t a big fan of how Hudson reacted to the news, it seemed like a big overreaction to me. Especially when he wouldn’t listen to him and then said it would take a while to forgive. Not sure what there was to forgive so it seemed odd to me. Some suspense as well which I felt kept it interesting. No cheating or OM/OW drama, separated for 3 years with no one else for either, surprise baby, dual POV and a cute HEA. I’m hoping Hudson can redeem himself in the next book, he wasn’t looking to great in this one.
There is a short prequel to this book. It was an entertaining novella, but it is contained in the first eight chapters of this one. It introduces the couple perfectly as it describes how they met, what happened during and after their weekend. The storyline continues a few years after and many things have happened. Their lives have changed with things they didn't expect. Their present circumstances are do different and there are surprises in store for them both. It is good to how easily they fell back into sync with each other and how they slowly begin to merge into a couple. Ryan and Paige are engaging characters and perfectly suited personalities. They bring out the best traits in each other..the caring, the independent, the supportive, the protective natures are installed in each and is displayed in their own individual ways. They deserve their happy ever after.

Paige/Rose is grieving from the death of her mother and decides to lose her virginity. She heads to a bar near a military base on the way home from college. She hooks up with Ryan/Grey for a one night stand. Both feel more than they expected. The pair hook up no questions, no answers. The time has a lasting impact on both of them, but when he wakes she is gone.
Three years later, Ryan arrives Jake's after his best friend pulls some strings to get him there. He has one of his legs and in a bad place. He sees Paige with her son Noah, thinking she moved on. When he finds out that the boy is his and he slept with his best friend's sister, it lights a fire under him.
He wants nothing more than to be a family with her and Noah, he will have to find out if she feels the same. I loved Noah, he is such a sweetheart and demanding all the same.

Paige finds herself at a bar where she is hoping to find companionship for the evening to forget the passing of her mother even if it is only for a few hours. When she draws the unwanted attention of a man another patron intervenes. The feelings between them were intense and they spend an unforgettable weekend together before she leaves without exchanging their names or contact information.
Three years later a devastating injury has ended Ryan’s career as a SEAL, and he is trying to deal with the emotional and physical toll. His best friend Hudson is determined to see him through, and it is through him that he reconnects with Paige and the secret she holds might just give him the inspiration to fight for the life and family he wants.
Paige’s life isn’t without its challenges, but it only shows how strong and resilient she is while Ryan is protective and determined to become the man that Paige needs.
I loved the continuation of Paige and Ryan’s story. Paige is such a strong, fierce, single mom that will do anything to raise her little boy. She doesn’t like taking handouts and wants to work for her and her son.Everyone keeps asking her, who is the father, but she really doesn’t know because they didn’t exchange names or numbers. When her brother goes and retrieves a fallen SEAL to place at Jake’s retreat her world is turned upside. Ryan is feeling sorry for himself and won’t get out of bed to go to his scheduled appointments, or shower or do anything. Finally, Hudson has had enough of Ryan’s sulking and forces him to tour the grounds with him. He then encounters Paige and time standstill. How is she going to tell him that he is a father? How is he going to be a partner and a father if he is combined to a wheelchair?
The first part of this story is a reprint of the prequel novella A Seal for the Weekend. It tells the story of how Paige and Ryan originally met and it's quite steamy. Then we move into their current timeline and it's a bit more sad and depressing and quite a downer, until all the truths come out. Not normally one for a secret baby storyline, I feel like this one was well done and there wasn't a ton of drawn out drama over him finding out about his kid. I also liked that it was the push that Ryan needed to kick start his recovery from his military injury. There was also a smidge of foreshadowing into Hudson and who will likely be his woman in the next book. Looking forward to that story soon.

A SEAL’s Sacrifice is a beautiful love story with the most adorable little boy! Paige and Ryan have a dynamite connection, their chemistry leaping off the pages with each and every interaction. Ryan has been through so much, and the author does a brilliant job of gracefully and truthfully portraying the struggles that wounded veterans experience when they return home. Paige is bold and brave, and watching her fight for her son, herself; and her man is by turns heart wrenching and heartful. I loved every moment of this novella—from the past to the present and the glimpse of their future. This is an outstanding series that gets better with each and every book. A must read!

Paige was in pain due to her mother’s passing away, and she wanted to feel something she never felt before. Ryan was to be deployed in two days when he met a woman at a bar. It was supposed to be a one-time night, but they found much more than that. I had read the prequel, and I loved it, so when I saw the complete story, I was very happy. And I just loved it. I just loved both characters; they are compassionate and deeply in love. They created a bond between them that not even time apart could weaken; just the opposite, it got stronger every day that passed. The story is emotional, full of chemistry and some surprises. There is also pain and loss. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A MUST READ heartfelt tale of two souls who met one night and shared a magical weekend that changed their lives forever.
Fortunately, if you haven't read the prequel, A Seal for the Weekend, you're in luck because Sadie has generously included that story here!
Paige and Ryan's story pulls at your heartstrings as you immerse yourself in this gripping tale. I loved getting to know them and their story. I couldn't put this book down!
The characters are well written and you want to continue to know more about them. This just proves that there is someone out there for everyone.
When you find love? You’ve got to grab it with both hands and never let it go.
After getting to know Red and Sargent Grey in ASEAL for the Weekend, I had to read this book. These two share a special bond, though Ryan is dealing with a significant physical loss that has his priorities a bit off-kilter. The story is one of reconnecting, the heart knowing what it longs for (regardless of social 'rules', and working to protect and defend what's important. The characters are well developed with quick banter and growth throughout the story. I have loved each installment in this series and am hopeful there's more to come. 🙏

Ryan makes me swoon. Yep, I said it. But I am gracious enough to move over for Paige, who is definitely likable. I liked the side characters- Noah was adorbs and Marcus is really funny. And the story warmed my heart. This is a one-night stand followed by a slow burn. Book is SAFE. Heat is EXPLICIT. TRIGGERS include language, vandalism, sexism, mild violence, and threatening behavior. TROPES include One-Night Stand, Secret Baby, Single Mom, Adorable Moppet, Navy SEAL, Disabled Hero, I Can Buy Myself Flowers, Brother’s Best Friend.

I had read A Seal for the Weekend earlier but it was a bit ago so I re-read it as it’s included in this book as the prequel. So the prequel A Seal for the weekend is the first 10 chapters of this book and it is HOT!!!!! The rest of the book is a little heartbreaking at times but of course turns beautiful and has a HEA😍😍😍. I love the way Ryan and Sadie come together again….and Noah is absolutely adorable. Sadie as a single mom is a warrior🥰🥰🥰…and I love how Ryan finds his strength and purpose again!!!!.

Both were under assumed names when they first met. That was the agreement. 3 years later, Paige not Rose is with her brother Hudson when Ryan sees her again. But she is not alone, a 2-year-old toddler is calling her mommy. Lot of emotions can be read through the book. Misunderstandings is definite and protecting his woman is his main concern. Once a SEAL, always a SEAL they say, and Ryan is ready to protect his family, no matter what. Light suspense, reunification and a whole lot of possibilities. Loved the read.

Ryan and Paige deliver a emotional high and low, their attraction sparking from the very beginning and practically setting the pages on fire. Their flirting, banter, and easy, natural dynamic make their connection irresistible. I couldn’t help but cheer when Ryan’s unexpected discovery becomes the reason he refuses to give up.
The moment danger closes in, Ryan’s protector instinct roars to life—and it is glorious. Paige shines through it all, and Noah, with his grumpy-cute charm, adds the perfect touch of laughter. A wonderfully balanced mix of heat, heart, and tension.
If you read A Seal for the Weekend and want to know what happen to the leads this is the story for you, if you haven't read that book (which is fantastic), the first 10 chapters of this story are that story. This is a very emotional read - you can feel the pain that Ryan is going through, and Paige doesn't draw out her secret like you find in so many stories but gets it out in the open fairly quickly. The heat is there but this story is so much more - you can't go wrong with this read!!!.

A follow up to the prequel A SEAL for the Weekend (which Sadie has helpfully included in this book incase you haven't had chance to read it yet). We get the conclusion of Ryan and "Rose" story and it's an emotional read for numerous reasons.
If you enjoy ❤️ Dual POV ❤️ Instalove ❤️ Interlinking Characters ❤️ Interconnected Standalone ❤️ Ex Military ❤️ Surprise Pregnancy / Child ❤️ Grumpy x Sunshine ❤️ Brother's Best Friend ❤️ HEAs
Good emotional read that you won't want to put down.
I have been looking forward to this story, their one night stand was more than that to both of them. I loved that their connection and chemistry had never gone away, that they could be open and honest with each other, and that they gave 'them' another chance. He inspired her to lean on him and not to try to do it all on her own, she inspired him to fight for what he wanted. I liked seeing them together, seeing them as a family and I believed in a future for them.

I love this series. And this story was definitely one of my favorites, the characters, the plot development. What seemed to be a one-night stand became something for the rest of their lives. Ryan and Paige had an unforgettable weekend, of that passed a couple of years, and the fate led them to meet again, but they were no longer the same people. Ryan was going through the worst moment of his life, but seeing Paige again and knowing that she had a son made him want to get better and have a future with them.
4.5/5⭐️ Paige and Ryan have amazing chemistry together and the time they spent together, while short, leads to a lifetime of memories and their son, Noah. While they are separated due to circumstances, fate brings Ryan back into their lives.
I enjoyed seeing cute Noah and Ryan’s interactions, and as a parent myself, I can attest to how difficult it is to bring up a kid and to handle a toddler’s tantrums.
I also loved the close friendship between Ryan and Hudson, and it would be interesting to see whom Hudson falls for.
I was so excited for this book after reading the prequel. It was unfortunately not what I was expecting. I usually love kids in books; they often bring a sweet silliness to sometimes heavy topics. That was not the case here; Noah was whiny and annoying. Also, he sometimes talks like a 3-year-old and sometimes like a 30-year-old. Please show consistency with characters. Ryan and Paige were fine, but I never felt any connection as I did in the prequel.
