Chasing Forever

Rate this book
A high-angst, emotionally charged contemporary romance that proves the line between friendship and love isn’t just thin—it’s explosive.

Sutton Baker has spent years pretending her feelings for Easton Keith were just a harmless crush. He was her best friend’s best friend, the guy who could quiet her storms with one look, the man she was never supposed to fall for. But when a single kiss turns everything upside down, she finally puts her heart on the line—only for Easton to pull away and shut her out completely.

Now, Sutton’s done waiting. She wants answers. Closure. Maybe even a little revenge. But the more she pushes, the more Easton retreats—and not just from her. He’s hiding something. Something darker. And when Sutton starts noticing shadows where there shouldn’t be any, she realizes Easton’s distance isn’t just about heartbreak. It’s about danger.

Because Easton isn’t just avoiding her. He’s hunting a man named Maddox Briggs—a ghost with a violent past and unfinished business. And Sutton? She might’ve already caught his attention.

This isn't just a love story. It's about secrets, second chances, and how far you're willing to go to protect the people you can't live without.

Hey everyone, I'm LS Phoenix, and I live in a small town in New England. I’ve been with my high school sweetheart since I was 16, we married in our mid 20’s and had 3 amazing children who are now the best well rounded adults I know. They keep me on my toes and bring endless joy to my life. I’m not sure where I would be without any of them in my life.
Now, here's how I ended up in the world of writing. I’m an avid reader myself and one day as I was reading a book I thought, hmm, I can do this. I used to write when I was in school and I always loved it. I’m a very creative person, sometimes too creative. Is that a thing? Anyway, an idea pops into my head, and it gets stuck and won't go away until I write it all down. then it just spiraled from there and I kept writing. So yeah, I dove headfirst into a sea of words and emotions, all because my brain just wouldn't let it go, and I’m completely okay with that! I love writing!
I'm all about soaking in the beauty of the world and finding inspiration around me. Each character I create, every twist I write, is a reflection of the journey we call life. So I hope you’ll join me on this ride. I can't wait to share my stories and characters with you.

Happy Reading!

Spice 🫦 🫦 🫦

Sutton has always had feelings for Easton that went far beyond friendship. She’s knows exactly what she wants, but there comes a point where enough is enough.
Easton is all about restraint and doing the “right” thing. And wow, did LS crank the angst between these two way up. Easton has a protective streak that is a mile long, I’ll forgive him for most of his questionable choices because that need to protect comes from a good place. Both Sutton and Easton are strong-willed characters, and I really enjoyed watching their growth throughout the story, although let’s be real, someone (cough, Easton, cough) was the one who needed it more. 😉
The tension, emotions, and secrets blended together beautifully, making this an emotional, angsty ride from start to finish.

You know that feeling when a book settles deep into your chest—heavy with anguish, threaded with suspense, and impossible to put down? If you’ve ever chased that ache, that slow-burning tension that keeps you turning pages long past bedtime, then this book is absolutely for you.

From the very beginning, there’s a quiet darkness woven through the story. Not overwhelming, but ever-present—like a shadow lingering just out of sight. The plot is layered with emotional weight and perfectly placed spice, creating a reading experience that feels both raw and intoxicating. Every chapter pulls you deeper, tightening its grip until you’re fully immersed in the characters’ world.

The push and pull between the FMC and MMC is where this story truly shines. Their dynamic is charged with tension, longing, and unspoken truths. It’s messy, frustrating, and utterly addictive. You can feel their internal battles, the moments of restraint, and the magnetic pull drawing them back together even when everything tells them not to. Their connection is intense, emotional, and achingly real.

What elevates this book even further is how the suspense quietly simmers alongside the romance. There’s always a sense that something is coming—something that could shatter everything they’re trying to build. That underlying tension keeps the pace sharp and the stakes high, making it impossible to read “just one more chapter.”

And then there’s the ending—softened with just enough hope. After all the darkness, angst, and emotional turmoil, the story offers a satisfying, well-earned happy ending that brings everything together without feeling rushed or unearned. It’s the kind of conclusion that lets you breathe again, closing the book with a full heart.

If you love stories that balance darkness and desire, anguish and attraction, with a plot that keeps you hooked until the very last page, this is a must-read. Emotional, spicy, and deeply compelling—this one lingers long after you’re done.

This book is ANGST. Capital A, no mercy, emotionally charged, slow-burn torture in the best way. The friends-to-lovers tension between Sutton and Easton? Painful. Delicious. Criminal. Sutton has been in love quietly, patiently, heartbreakingly, and when she finally risks everything—Easton pulling away nearly took me out. I wanted to scream at him, shake him, and protect him all at once.

Sutton is such a raw, real FMC. She’s done being small, done waiting, done swallowing her feelings—and watching her demand answers instead of accepting scraps was SO satisfying. Her hurt felt real. Her anger felt earned. Her love felt deep in the bones. And Easton… oh Easton. Broody, guarded, carrying the weight of secrets he thinks will destroy everyone he loves. The way he loves Sutton while actively trying to push her away? That hurt hurt.

And then the suspense layer kicks in and suddenly this isn’t just emotional devastation—it’s danger. Maddox Briggs looming in the background had me on edge, flipping pages, heart racing. The tension wasn’t just romantic; it was threatening. Shadows, fear, unanswered questions—everything felt like it could explode at any moment.

What I loved most is that this story isn’t just about falling in love—it’s about choosing it. About facing the darkness instead of running from it. About second chances and the terrifying, beautiful vulnerability of letting someone truly see you.

This book wrecked me, healed me, and then wrecked me again. If you love high-angst romance, friends-to-lovers pain, emotionally unavailable men with tragic secrets, and heroines who finally say enough—read this. Immediately. Cancel plans. Prepare snacks. And maybe tissues.

Well, this story had suspense and that anguish feeling in several moments. Both between main characters, when they were walking back and forth with their denial about their feelings and mostly about the danger with the man trying to hurt them all.
But hey.. I like a little darkness in some stories and the little bit in this one was perfect for it.

Easton is trying to cath a criminal for some time. He is stuck at several dead ends and his life is a little on hold until he manages to find him and feel safer. Due to his line of work he is afraid of repercutions, so he keeps those he cares about at a distance. Sutton's one of those people. He likes her, a lot. And if he gives into those feelings she could get hurt, so he backs away every time they are getting closer. And that leaves Sutton beyond mad. The hot and cold he is giving het hurts her, and she is on her breaking poing, about to give up when danger starts and he realises he can't deny any longer what he feels and that he wants to take care and protect her and goes all in.
But evil is lurking, and they have to catch him before fully being happy. But together anything is possible, right?
There are some heavy topics and is safer for people to read TW. I, however, didn't have a problem at all 🤭
I liked several of the twists and secrets we found during the story. They made the plot more interesting.

Chasing Forever: If you thought Alaksan Heat was dark you are in for a treat!! Chasing Forever is dark and twisty in all the best ways!

Easton gave me the worst case of whiplash - he wants her, he shouldn’’t, he pushes her away, he pulls her in - he watches her, he guards her - Easton is the protector at all costs - even his own happiness. Thank god Sutton has great friends to help her get through everything.

Sutton probably also has whiplash from Easton with all the push and pull throughout the book.

Easton has a secret that no one knows about and when he gets careless he risks it all to finally be with Sutton. In doing so he makes those he loves the most vulnerable to a predator who has a dark past that is entwined with Easton and his career. The predator is watching and waiting for the right moment to strike when Easton least expects it threatening the thing he may just care about the most.

If you like suspense and spice this is the next book for you to add to your TBR!

Not just a love story -- Easton & Sutton -- but one that also has a stalker who tries to hurt Easton by getting to those he loves. Easton has to try and determine where Maddox, the criminal is hiding, while trying to resolve his feelings for Sutton. Throw in the fact that he has a 3-year daughter he didn't reveal to Sutton until just recently, and we have a whole lot of confusion, twists and turns, angst, and danger.

💕Single dad
💕No OW drama
💕Push/Pull relationship - he says "I love you" first
💕Kidnapping
💕Stalker caught

They have a good support system of friends that are always there to help, and I like that for both of them. The Maddox issue is resolved to my satisfaction, and I like how we get a glimpse into Easton & Sutton's life in the future.

A fast, heartfelt hit of pure romance with a strong side of TW’s!

Chasing Forever is one of those reads that hooks you instantly and keeps you wondering what’ll happen next. The chemistry is sharp, the emotions land, the pacing never drags and the drama keeps giving. Phoenix delivers a love story that feels both swoony and sincere—easy to binge, impossible to put down and kept me on the edge of my seat.

An awesome, feel‑good romance that absolutely delivers.

I really loved Sutton and Easton. Sutton has had feelings for Easton for as long as she can remember, but how long will she wait until she moves on from their friendship. Easton has reasons for keeping his distance from Sutton, he needs to keep her safe from the work he’s doing. Their story is suspenseful, emotional and filled with angst and you will not be able to put this book down. Another great read by this author.

Chasing forever is a fast paced in a way story that pulls you in from the start. From the push and pull, the mystery, and the are you serious right now dude. It keeps you reading because its so well written. The love that is finally shown between Easton and Sutton is one that everyone dreams about. True and to the fullest. The "adult" scenes are believable without being over dramatized or thinking"yea that would never happen".

Once again LS Phoenix does it with this book. Always a great mix of plot with the spice. Loved how this book touched on the darker side with the storyline. Threw in a little mystery as well. Got in my feelings a little with the ending. Who doesn’t love a HEA!? The FMC and MMC in this story had the push and pull that makes you enjoy their story. Great book!
