Recoil #4

Refrain

Rate this book
I had the perfect list. Then my best friend shattered every box.

My checklist was gospel—ten traits, no exceptions, no compromises.
Until Alex became my wingman, and we hunted love online together.

Falling for her wasn’t the plan, but neither was rewriting everything.
Until this aqua-haired gallery girl made me question what perfection means.

Recoil found our rhythm, and I found mine was way off beat.
So when friendship turns to more, this time, I ignore the rules.
Rules are made to be broken, right?

She’s chaos. I’m rigid. But together, we’re the perfect match.
Some love stories start as friendships, but ours will refrain from being ordinary.

From USA Today Bestselling Author K E Osborn comes a rockstar romance that will have your heart skipping beats. Refrain is a friends-to-lovers, slow-burn story of laughter, longing, and the ultimate grovel when friendship turns to fire. Because sometimes, the best duets start with heartbreak and end in harmony.

Not my first ride with this author but again K.E. Osborn manages to surprise me with Fret (Recoil Rock #4), because this book again has a different voice than the previous ones. So it never gets dull with that series.

I could use a ton of cliché lines to describe the storyline of the book. With “you never know what you got until it’s gone” being the first one that comes to my mind.
Yet non of them would do the story real justice. While the baseline is a cliché and the idea has been used multiple times. Matt’s story still manages to have its own voice.

I liked how the story started… intriguing you how a guy like Matt could end up in that situation. Yeah actually considering all his Ideas and thoughts it was kind of funny (well not for him in that moment but well you will get it in the end when you look at the complete picture)

Matt’s and Alex’s dance around each other is sweet and there are moments when I found myself just shaking my head wanting to shout at them to open their eyes. So I guess you could say I was definitely engaged with this story and liked it.

In total, it did not pull at my heartstrings which is why it gets “only” 4 stars but really in all honesty not that many books get the 5th star with me. I would have to find myself hysterically laughing or crying a river for that.

I love the writing style of this author and I would pick up a novel of her at any time.

I was graciously sent an Advance Copy of Fret and gotta say it is my favorite in the Recoil Series.

Matt Levine, bassist for Recoil realizes that he is the last unattached member left standing and decides to do something to find a more permanent woman to be with. Matt has a very specific list of qualities that his twin brother Nate thinks will make it impossible for any woman to live up to. Nate, meanwhile is in the worst position to be handing out advice as he and his love Ria have split up (This book overlaps with Nate & Ria's story Snare book 3 in this series and while it doesn't have to be read, you should to get the most out of this one and that book is where Alex makes her first appearance) Meanwhile at Nate's Gallery opening Matt thinks he is meeting Nate's curator, some dude named Alex, when he sees that Alex is actually a woman, he is first shocked and then mesmerized by this pixie with piercings, tattoos and aqua blue hair, the polar opposite of his list, but you know what they say about opposites.
I have a total fangirl crush on Alex, she is hilarious, smart, sassy and that mouth of hers spits out whatever she's thinking. She and Matt become best friends and he, being the typical male may realize too late that Alex is the Ying to his Yang -
This book is a great way to unwind, it will put a smile on you face, deliver more than a few giggles and even a tear or two. Highly recommend it.

What an amazing book and a fantastic end to this series. This book was everything that you want from a Rockstar romance. Although in saying that it was very light on the music front. The way the story flowed from the pages giving you insight to previous events that appeared in the other books was just what made this great.

The chemistry that was very clear from the beginning. The very first interaction and meeting between Matt and Alex just sizzled and left you screaming at them through the pages. This book is about friendship, hope, belonging and finding that what you wish for isn't necessarily what is you need or really want.

Matt seems so lost through this book and in Alex he finds a best friend, partner in crime and just everything. Alex who is bolshy, confident in her own skin and everything he believes he doesn't want but as she is alone in the world she finds it hard to trust. She has her barriers that were created by circumstance and quirky ways. But she never beats around the bush.

This is a beautiful love story that just made my emotions sing. I cried at the drop of a hat and laughed hard too. K.E Osbourn has a way with words that just sweeps you away with the story and you feel like you are part of the action.

This book, series and author are a huge recommend from me. I have no doubt that you will fall in love with these amazing characters and the music world that they all appear in. My love affair with these character and the Rockstar world that K.E Osbourn created started a long time ago with a whole different band that encouraged all of these bands and stories on.

What a fantastic love story, another terrific book from this amazing author. I have never read a book by KE Osborn that has been anything but sensational, she is a definite automatic one click preorder for me as she always delivers quality.

Nate is lamenting the loss of Ria but is fully engrossed in his painting and new art gallery. Alex, his gallery manager, a quirky, colourful and upbeat person but with a sad history as well. Enter Matt, Nate's twin brother and another member of the band, Recoil! Determined to find his 'perfect woman' according to his list of ten qualities she must have, he sets out on an internet dating excursion and drags Alex along for the ride as they become close friends.

Written from both Matt and Alex's points of view gives good insight into their characters. This is a fast paced book that leaves you feeling fabulous and complete as everything is tied up nicely in this final book of the series, all questions or queries answered.

Great humour including the characters ability to laugh at themselves as well as compassion and tenderness. I found I experienced the full gambit of emotions and at times sniffling back tears or laughing out loud!

Both Matt and Alex had a physical attraction from the beginning and at times I wanted to tell them to stop and really see the other for more than a friend, a good sign when an author can get readers this invested in the story!

Oh my. I loved this book so much I don’t even know where to begin without being a spoiler. K.E. Osborn knows how to write a story and let me tell you Fret had me so wrapped up in it that I finished it in one setting. The first thing I like about the way K.E Osborn writing is she tells it as each person’s point of view, that is what I like in reading a book. It helps you relate with the character in the story more than just a one person point of view

Fret is the last book of the Recoil series. I recommend that you read them all as they are all great and it will help you know the boys in the band. Although they can be read as standalones as well

Matt defiantly lives up to the “Party like a Rockstar” lifestyle. He always has a different groupie in his bed every night, but now he is getting tired of the groupie lifestyle and wants to find a women like his band brothers have. Matt is a perfectionist and knows what he want in a women which he does not find in the groupies and he is looking for more. He has a list of certain qualities that she must have. Matt sees how happy his band brothers are now since they have settled down. Even his Twin brother Nate who he has had to watch over has found someone who makes him happy. (You can read Nates story in Snare book 3)

Alex is a women who has hit rock bottom, her ex walked out on her and took everything, she ends up living in a shelter before she gets a job working in the gallery with Matt’s twin Nate. When Matt is introduces to Alex they hit it off from the start and become good friends. Despite everything Alex has gone through she has pushed it aside and is trying move forward

When Matt decides to open a profile on a dating website to find the girl of his dreams he talks Alex into putting up a profile as well. They both are trying to find their one and only. In the story you will read about all they go through while trying to find the “one” on this dating site. I am not going to say what happens you will need to read the book to find out how Matt and Alex do on this dating web site. Did they each fin their one?

Fret was a great 5 star read.

Matt wants a woman, a very particular woman and his lifestyle makes it very complicated to find what he’s looking for.

Alex is a strong woman who had an ex walk out and take everything including her money. She ended up in a homeless shelter for awhile. Now she is working with Nate at the art gallery and is such a great friend. She has such a great personality and style.

When Matt and Alex meet they hit it off. There is something refreshing about her, but he doesn’t look at her as someone he would date. Matt decides to use a dating website to find “the one” and he talks Alex into putting her profile on as well. They were coaching each other and it was great. When the online dating takes a bad twist, Matt finds himself in hot water and calls Alex for help.

I literally have the worst luck with women.

I really enjoyed Matt and Alex’s story. There were a few bumps in the road but they eventually got it right. I loved all of the secondary characters, they added a great element to the story. The connection these two had was great. The epilogue couldn’t have been more perfect.
This is book 4 in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I however suggest you start from the beginning because this is a great group of friends to read about. K.E. Osborn pulls your fight in and you won’t stop until your done.

Fret is the fourth book in the Recoil Rock series, and it's Matt's story. Matthew Levine is part of the world famous band, Recoil, and lately, he feels left behind, as most of the band has started settling down. Plus, he's sick of partying like a rock star, so he's decided to find the 10 out of 10 forever girl. When he meets his brother's new friend, and gallery manager, Alex, he finds himself becoming besties with her, and they decide to do online dating together. But on the hunt to find the perfect 10, all kinds of chaos ensues, and he finds himself thinking more and more about Alex, as she is always there for him. However, he never sees what is in front of him, and puts a wedge between them. Will he lose her for good? K.E. Osborn has a brilliant writings style that I have LOVED since her first books, and I'm a HUGE fan girl! And while her rock star series' are high on the list of favorites, Fret was a whole new take on the rocker romance, and I couldn't get enough of the original story line! Alex is my very favorite female in this series, as her feisty personality had me laughing throughout the whole story! And while Matt is drool worthy, all of his questionable choices in finding the perfect 10, made him a complete douche, and I had Alex's back completely! Ms. Osborn's twists (and she's a queen at writing them) had me dropping loud f-bombs right and left, as many came out of left field. The push and pull kept me on the edge of my seat, and the final piece to make this a perfect masterpiece, was the entertaining cast of secondaries to add to the hilariously placed humor. I will NEVER EVER get enough of this author, so I will be waiting impatiently to see what she puts out next! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Wow, I don't think I've ever loved yet wanted to hurt a character as much as I did Matt. Man, he was the sweetest guy but he can't see what is in front of his face the entire time. This story line although one that I've heard, its so much more. The events he gets put it and the characters in this book are so freaking awesome!!! I was thrilled to see Whisper again because that man is flipping hilarious and Alex she is perfect. I couldn't imagine a better person than her. She is a bit of everything and for a man that is dead set on finding the perfect lady he can't see just how great she really truly is.

Alex has been through some major loss and pain in her life. She doesn't trust easy at all but there is something about Matt that makes her feel safe. A friendship forms and its one that is very important to both her and Matt but Matt is on a mission to find the perfect lady and she knows she could never be good enough for him and so she joins him on his mission. Things get complicated later on and the book just gets better and better as it goes.

If you haven't read this series before you could probably read this one but I was recommend reading the first book because you get a feel for everyone's personalities and you'll know everything that goes down ahead of time. This series is worth it trust me. Each book has just gotten better and better. KE Osborn knows how to give us a story that will have you absolutely hooked and engrossed from the very beginning. You will love each and every character and their story.

Fret by K.E Osborn

**Don’t FRET, this series is totally worth it!**

A rocker’s life isn’t always about wild girls, and partying hard. At least not when you are looking for more, when you are looking for the ONE.

In book 4 of the Recoil Rock Series we follow Matt aka Matty Moo. Matt is an awesome guy that loves and admires his twin and his band brothers. Family is important to him, since he and his twin both lost their mother so young. As passionate as Matt is about his music and family, he is just as determined to find the right girl. In doing that, they have to meet most if not all of his criteria on his checklist.

Then enters Alex, the beautiful sassy, unfiltered talented Gallery Manager/Curator. The chemistry and the banter between these two were amazing. As much as I loved Matt, I have to say that Alex totally took the show, my heart and everything along the way.

She had me from the Get-Go. It is no wonder that Matt couldn’t let her go.

This author really closed out the series so beautifully. I loved this last couples new beginning and the closure to the other bandmates stories.

I actually wish that this series would just keep going on and on.

I will keep my eye out for more from this author and I am so glad that I read these 4 books.

As always I ask myself, would I recommend this book and this author to my friends. Yes I would. I have watched how this author continued to build and build with each book. I have to say book 4 was really one of my favorites, and yes I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

This book got a 5 stars!

Did Matt meet his perfect match.....or was she someone unexpected?

Finally, Matt's story has arrived. This is the one that I have been waiting for since the Recoil boys were first brought to my attention. Before reading FRET, you really do need to read SNARE, as the two stories do overlap, and it's also where Alex is first introduced to the readers.

Matt is a perfectionist, looking for the perfect woman to come into his life. Instead, he meets Alex, a blue haired, tattooed and pierced woman, who just totally turns his world upside down. She is the absolute opposite of what he was looking for and wanted, well they do say opposites attract.

I loved these two characters, a friendship develops between them, but is it more than friendship? Will Matt realize in time just who has been right under his nose this entire time? Will he see Alex for who she could really be to him?

Loved this book. That dedication was the bomb - I hope he gets to see it one day. This entire series is simply brilliant. To those who love rock star books, go out and grab this one.

Due to my stupidity, I struggled to get into this book at first but kept reading cause I had to know what happened. I'm glad I kept reading cause I got so deep into this story. I absolutely loved Alex and Matt. The starting out as friends who have Taco Tuesday and try internet dating. Let me tell you this was not the greatest idea Matt had. He trusted way to easily and got some crazies especially after they met him. He was an idiot at so many times, I swear. Alex I liked. She was a cool chick. Despite what happened to her, she was always looking on the bright side. She did have trust issues but it came so easy with Matt and Nate. They were doing so well until the night they crossed the friend zone. Matt had to work his butt off to make things right again. I will say the song"kiss me by Ed Sheeran was perfect for this book especially the jam session scene. So perfect! While I'm sad to see this series end, I'm so glad that they all got their happy endings with marriages and babies. This series was so good and so much fun!

5 FABULOUS ROCK STARS

Well first off I am a true believer that KE Osborn is my go to rocker writer. This Recoil series had me from book 1.

Fret the 4th one is Matt's story and he is the last band member who is not attached. Matt is a perfectionist and wants perfection in his woman. He enlist a dating site Gurr and his story unravels. The plot itself has been done before but with KE she has just done more with it and has written it flawlessly. Lots of clichés but to be honest in this book I did not see them as clichés I only saw them as thoughts, points and reasons from this POV writing.

This 4th book took on another tone, POV and angle and that is what makes this series engaging and shows us how talented this author truly is!! This is a one click book for sure and you all need to read it to experience the KE Osborn effect!! KUDOS!!

Last but not least Matt will have his story told, and boy oh boy, this story will be the epic finally to this exceptional series.

As we know Matt is the twin with the attitude but underneath that hard shelf we find a man with a heart bigger than the world. It has been told there is always someone and Matt finds out that Alex is his. But like always this will not be an easy journey.

Once again KE Osborn has delivered the perfect ending to this incredibly good series. Is always good to read about hot rock stars but once again she has proven this can be done again and again. Her work is so captivating that you will be submerged into the story and will forget you are reading a fictional book.

If I had to guessed how to end this series, never in my wild imagination will have come up with this unforgettable ending. Well done Ms. Osborn.

(4 stars)

This is part of a series, I do highly recommend that you read the previous books before even attempting to dive into this, as they all sort of just sort of flow into each other.

Matt met Alex in Nate's book, when she was hired on at the gallery, and sort of as a babysitter for Nate. Alex and Matt hit it right off and soon become best friends. The two are in the same place in their life, looking for that someone special. So they both decide to try out a dating app, which leads them into some funny situations. Matt is looking for the perfect girl that will check all the boxes on his list, while Alex is just looking for someone that gives her that safe feeling. How long will it take to realize that they are perfect for each other? Will it be too late? Will Matt mess this whole friendship up by trying to make it more?

This was a nice conclusion to this series, ties up all the loose ends nicely. With drama, some funny bits, and a few hot sexy times this is a solid 4 star read for me.

So sad to see this series end but so happy with the send off - very deserving.

Fret finally brings us Matt's story. While all his band mates are now all loved up, Matt continues to search for his "perfect 10". He has a very strict set of rules that his future partner must meet and he won't settle for anything less. after some convincing he decides to give online dating a go but only if his best friend, the lovely, crazy Alex also joins. And so begins their journey of looking for that special someone while being totally blind to what is already right in front of them.

Friends to lovers is my favourite kind of story. I love being taken on that journey where I am on the edge of my seat ready to jump into the book to slap some sense into them. Thank you KE Osborn for the most amazing ride!

First up, congratulations KE Osborn on another terrific book tying up this fabulous series. You rock!

Secondly, oh what a beautiful romance this story is and extremely entertaining-as all of this author's books are!

Matt and Alex meet at Nate's art gallery and become firm friends. Together they start internet dating and become each others 'wingman'! Some epic adventures and times are had by both.

My only issue is that...the series is over! 😢I have loved every bit of this series and enjoy the way this author creates love stories that are different and thoroughly enjoyable.

I totally recommend this book and series to everyone.

Expect the unexpected!

What if you have set a parameter for your ideal mate, and when you finally found that one, you still don't feel anything for that perfect match? That elusive feeling that you seem to find with that one person who is the total opposite of your ideal person! You'd better catch up and find out if Matt, Recoil's bassist, will choose the right one!

Matt is the sensible one in the band. Alex works for Matt's brother Nate. When Matt decides he wants a girlfriend he gives a try at internet dating with the help of Alex. Their are specific requirements he is looking for. Will Matt find love on the internet or could it be closer than he thinks? I enjoyed this story of two people trying to find happiness and love while struggling along the way. I liked that it included the other guys from Recoil so we could see how they are doing.

Fret by K.E. Osborn is the fourth book in the Recoil Rock Series. Every book can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend to read the books in order. Book one, Pick is Danger and Lunar´s book. Book two, Plucker, and my favorite in this series, is Ryan and Tillie´s book. Book three, Snare, is Nate and Zaria´s book. And now Fret. Fret is Matt and Alex´s book.
Matt is the bassist of Recoil and twin to Nate from Snare. He´s a womanizer, perfectionist and wants more.
And there is Alex. She´s Nate´s manager and curator at a gallery. She meets Matt and they click as friends. Together they start the adventure of online dating. Till Matt sees what was before his eyes the whole time.
Fret is written in a dual POV.
I really liked the hotness of the characters, their banter and their flirting.
I love the writing and I love the storyline. I love the words , I could feel the characters emotions in the words. And I LOVE; LOVE; LOVE the dedication !!
I recommend Fret and give 5 stars, thank you KE Osborn.

This is such a great series and with every book I fall more for these guys. Fret is Matt's book. Each books are standalones but they are all so great your gonna want to read them all.

Matt is the bassist for Recoil and the last single man standing. Ready to settle down he decides it's time to look for his "perfect" woman. Alex works for Nate, coming into the fold her and Matt become fast friends. She fast became one of my favorite characters in the series. She's funny, cute and extremely sassy. When their friendship turns to something more things explode.

This was one of my favorite books in the series and I love the way the author tells her stories. The characters are loveable and the writing is great. It's a definite must read.

Matt is determined to stick to his 10 point perfect woman but finding her isn't easy. He's fed up of women wanting his fame and needs someone who gets along with his twin.
Alex is his twins Nates gallery manager and such a laugh. The two form an incredible friendship and encourage each other to join a dating app.

This is the 4th book in this awesome rock series, and I have been waiting for Matt’s story, and what a story it is.
Matt is looking for the perfect woman, and when he strikes up a friendship with Alex, they could not be more opposites if they tried. Together they venture into online dating, but will Matt eventually realize what is right under his nose? No spoilers this series can be read as standalone, but personally, I think the series really needs to be read in order, as all of the characters intertwine!
Another awesome storyline from this very talented author, and I was intrigued and hooked from the very beginning.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

The guys of Recoil and their ladies are a great bunch. This series is as good as rocker romance gets. Matt and Alex are the last to join the couple crowd. Read it, read them all, you won't be sorry.

Angels are exploring different genres this year, and one of the new genres we are delving into is Rock Star Romances. We are pleased to have started with this series, which we found to be excellent overall. The characters in the series were well-developed and engaging. This particular story focuses on
Matt and Alex.

The rock star series comes to a satisfying conclusion with Ms. Osborn's focus on Matt, Nate's twin. Initially, Matt's arrogant behavior and treatment of Nate were off-putting, but in "Refrain," he redeems himself. The story delves into Matt's transformation from a checklist-driven rock star to a man capable of love and friendship.

Matt meets Alex, who challenges his preconceived notions of the perfect woman. Despite their differences, there is a magnetic pull between them. As Matt learns about Alex's troubled past, he discovers a compassionate side of himself that he had kept hidden.

Their relationship brings out the best in each other, with fate seemingly guiding them together. The series is a satisfying journey of love, friendship, and self-discovery that will not disappoint.

Although the story focuses on Matt, it is also a wrap-up for the entire series. How the lives of these rockstars have grown in their personal life, as well as how their hard work and determination have led them to become superstars and show us the beautiful lives they have created; they are broken no more.

The story brought more than a few surprises, most of which made us smile. This may have been Matt's story, but Alex stole the show. We loved everything about Alex her vibrant personality, the way she puts people at ease, is a wonderful friend and her sassiness. She is beautiful inside and out.

Matt's journey to finding the perfect mate created so many hilarious moments. We laughed so much through this story, and we also shed some tears. Although his journey provided laughs, it did make you ponder that being a superstar has its drawbacks, and settling down is not always easy. Does your potential mate want you for you or what you can give them?

Overall, we have to say we loved its conclusion to the series. We can't say that we saw Matt's romance journey and his happily ever after going this way, but it made for a delightful read. Leave it to Matt to be the odd man out. LOL

PS- While each book in the series can be read independently, I recommend reading this series as they were released, as the characters grow and change throughout each book, and are a part of each bandmate's journey to his HEA.
