About the author

Rob Scotton is the bestselling author and illustrator of "Russell the Sheep," and "Russell and the Lost Treasure." His latest book, "Splat the Cat" is the story of a young cat facing all the wonders and worries of his first day at cat school. Rob's work can also be found on greeting cards, ceramics, textiles, prints, stationery, and glassware. An honors graduate of Leicester Polytechnic, Rob now lives in Rutland, England, with his wife, Liz, who is also an artist.

Not too much going on here as far as plot, but the touch-and-feel aspects are well imagined. I liked them inclusion of Velcro as a stand in for the scratchiness of a genuine Christmas tree and the fact that the final spread offers readers a chance to pet Splat's belly is perfect.

Recommended for sharing with babies and toddlers.

we love Splat the cat! Fun book for the kids. It is a touch and feel board book and it is one of the better I've come across. I love touch and feel books and so do the kids, so great for sensory development. The kids liked the story but they loved that they could play with the book too.

This is about Splat the Cat and his countdown until Christmas. He has the help of his family decorating the tree and making fun decorations for Christmas. I would recommend this for any collection owning others about Splat the Cat. It would work well in any collection as a browsing title. The illustrations are cute and the characters are fun.
