For seven years, Valtoria has known only abundance and calm. Fields rich with harvest, streets alive with laughter, a kingdom united beneath its king and queen. Damon and Alira’s reign is not only marked by prosperity, but by the joy of their two children who have become the heart of their days and the light of their legacy.
But peace is fragile. In the Dawn, Alira’s homeland, a long dormant darkness stirs. An enemy that does not only hunger for power but seeks Damon’s family itself. Drawn into a web of schemes and betrayals, Damon rides to confront the shadow threatening everything he has built. Yet what begins as a battle against the darkness soon reveals something far worse. An ancient force unleashed, bloodthirsty and unbound.
On the battlefield, Damon will learn that true strength does not lie in throne or sword alone, but in sacrifice, love, and the unyielding will to protect those who carry his heart. Perfect for fans of sweeping fantasy romance, brutal battles, and kings who discover that love is their greatest weapon.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Absolutely Gripping Sequel! A King’s Heart is everything a second book in a series should be—and so much more. Karen Rhodes weaves pure magic as she continues Damon and Alira’s love story, raising the stakes in every possible way. Now that they’re parents, danger feels sharper, closer, and utterly inescapable, and I found myself holding my breath more than once.
Damon’s journey especially stole my heart. Watching him be tested as a father, a husband, and a king had me on tenterhooks from start to finish. His emotional depth, his moments of doubt, and his fierce devotion to his family made him feel so real that I was completely swept away.
And Alira—what a force she is. Her love, intelligence, and courage shine like a beacon in their darkest moments. She is the steady flame guiding her husband and their family, the one who sees clearly even when the world around them begins to unravel. Her strength doesn’t overshadow Damon’s, nor does it fade behind his; instead, it elevates their bond and grounds the entire story with heart and wisdom.
This book is rich, tense, heartfelt, and beautifully written. It’s been two weeks since I finished, and the world, the characters, and those edge-of-your-seat moments are still lingering in my mind. King’s Heart is a spectacular continuation of the series, and I’m already desperate for the next installment!
An amazing sequel!! When I say I was absolutely enthralled with this book, I mean it in the deepest sense—this story still has a fierce, lingering grip on my heart even after I turned the final page.
The author’s writing is riveting, a masterpiece in vivid imagery that transported me directly into the world of Ironspire and The Dawn. Navigating the darkness and battles with Damon and Alira was a tumultuous, breathtaking emotional rollercoaster. Their high-stakes journey was deeply felt. The last part of the book was a heart-pounding, breathless rush, and that epilogue genuinely left me gasping, and desperately wanting the next book!
Alira’s selfless sacrifices and fierce devotion to Damon and her family was an undeniable heartwarming part of the story and resonated profoundly. Watching Damon's formidable strength tempered by his pure, unwavering love for his family unfold was an incredible experience.
“I’ll carry you with me wherever I go.”
The narrative groundwork laid in Book 1 paid off beautifully. The seven year gap between the books shows Alira, now grown into a courageous, fiercely principled heroine who knows exactly what—and who—she stands up for. And Damon’s pure love is felt in so many aspects of the story that I cannot wait for you all to experience.
Special mention for the side characters! I devoured every delicious hint of a budding romance between Vale and Thea and Thorne and Grace. Vale and Thorne are two side-character kings who earned my complete love and support, they are simply magnificent!

I didn’t think it could get better than A Queen’s Heart, but A King’s Heart completely surprised me. Karen Rhodes delivers a fast-paced, suspenseful sequel that raises the stakes while deepening the emotional heart of the series. From the opening chapters, the story moves with an energy that pulls you in and keeps you turning pages.
The pacing is exceptional. Intense, high-tension moments are balanced with quieter, softer scenes that give the story depth and make the suspense even more impactful. I’m normally a slow reader, but I absolutely flew through this book — it’s that gripping.
One of the standout elements for me was the King and Queen’s young son, Callum. He quickly became my favorite character. Rhodes describes him with such vividness and charm that you can practically see him — every expression, every burst of excitement, every little antic. Every scene he appeared in brought an extra spark to the story.
My favorite moment in the entire book involves Callum near the end. I can’t share details without giving too much away, but let’s just say it was a scene that truly moved me. You may even find yourself feeling like a proud parent as you read it!
Overall, A King’s Heart is a beautifully written and emotionally powerful continuation of the series. It not only matches the first book — it surpasses it. Fans of fantasy, romance, and well-paced storytelling will be completely swept away.
