southern vamps are hot!

The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea was awesome! What a great twist on vampire romance with a sweet-talking Southern vampire!

Beau is a tall, dark, and very handsome vampire whose charm and devil-may-care attitude get under Leah Ricci’s skin and turn her orderly world upside down. Leah is a very driven woman and one hell of a lawyer, but when she joins a new law firm in the town of Thorne Ridge, a small town in northern Georgia, she unknowingly steps into a town run by a powerful 400-year-old vampire and his coven.

Sparks fly from the very beginning between the devilishly handsome Beau and the headstrong, beautiful Leah, and their constant clashes lead to some hot and steamy nights! But Beau isn’t the only one with his sights set on Leah. A psychotic dhampir is leaving a trail of dead bodies all over Thorne Ridge in his quest to get to her.

The storyline and characters made this a very enjoyable read, with a steady pace, great main and secondary characters, and plenty of chemistry, banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and memorable one-liners between Beau and Leah.

This one has been on my TBR for a bit! What a better time to read than before my ARC for book 2!

This novel was so good! I was hanging onto every word like my life depended on it. Beau and Leah's story was amazing. The funny, witty banter? The enemies-to-lovers vibes on full display? 10/10. Plus, who doesn’t love a good vampire romance to top it all off? The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea is intense and action-packed. The writing was gorgeous, the storyline was addicting, and this is absolutely a book that I'd recommend! I absolutely cannot wait to dive into the next one!

I love the story in this book- at first I had a hard time getting into it as it’s a different writing style that I am not use too but once I got locked in I loved this book! I’m so thankful I was able to be an ARC reader for The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea!! Keep in mind when you go to read this book it’s a SLOW BURN with a lot of tension!!

C.P. Harrow has a writing style that completely pulls you in. The atmosphere, the drama, the tension. It all blends together into this gorgeously moody Southern Gothic world I didn’t realize my life was missing.

We meet Beau, leader of the Bloodborn coven, who spends his days casually roaming the town he founded centuries ago while pretending to be the “descendant” of the original Beau Thorne. His main focus is protecting both the town and his coven from outside threats, all while quietly working behind the scenes with a select few locals who know the truth.

Then there’s Leah, the new lawyer in town and an absolute powerhouse. Independent, ambitious, and fully convinced she does not need a relationship, she initially brushes off Beau’s slow-burn pursuit as nothing more than Southern charm. But as the banter intensifies and their chemistry becomes impossible to ignore, resisting him becomes a losing battle.

Watching these two balance each other out while turning flirtation and banter into foreplay was so much fun. The tension, the pining, the constant push-and-pull—it had me grinning the entire time. Even with all the danger, drama, and action happening around them, Beau and Leah somehow became the steady heartbeat of the story.

I absolutely loved this introduction to the world. Every side character felt like someone I wanted to know more about, and the setting itself came alive so vividly it felt cinematic. I could picture the mansion, smell the trees, and practically feel the magic humming beneath the town.

I’m beyond excited to continue this series and spend more time in this world.

The Devil is in Georgia and he drinks sweet tea!!! Cozy, Southern Gothic, Paranormal romance....Yes please!!

I had the pleasure of reading an advance copy...release date December 6th!!!

Beau Thorne is our MMC he is a vampire and owns the town. His voice is described like honey and bourbon with a southern drawl. There is a great line in the book that I think is the best description "The man was arrogant. Entitled. Smiled like sin and moved like he owned oxygen".

Leah Ricci is our FMC she is human, a lawyer on a mission to climb the career ladder, and 5 foot of Italian attitude and confidence wearing stilettos and drinking espresso. I loved the description in the book "...that one is all heels and ambition. You come at her sideways, she'll crack your ego like a pecan on Sunday."

The banter between these two is fantastic, sarcastic, and biting (no pun intended). The tension is thick and palpable and when it breaks.....its perfect for these two characters. There is explicit language and enough description while also still leaving something to the imagination...fade to black.

The side characters are memorable and create the found family that I want to be in....all love wrapped up in barbs and banter!! I cannot wait for this series to continue and learn more about them.

Darling you will not want to miss this, it is book 1 in the Bloodborn Fates Series!!!

I tried to finish this. I really did. I had to DNF at 67%

I tried because the story, buried deep within the typos, feels like it would be decent. However, the typos and complete lack of research or editing finally became simply offensive to me as a reader. The fact this author is asking people to pay for what is barely even a rough draft is rude, frankly.

When I say there are typos, I mean the author didn’t seem to once even note when the word processor underlined fat fingered key mashing. There are many instances of situations like “iof” instead of “of,” there are many repeated words “how how hot was it”, there are many incorrect homophones, such as “too” where “to” should be. There are even whole repeated paragraphs where it seems the author wrote one, came back later and reworked it, then failed to delete the original paragraph. These typos start quite literally in the second sentence of the book, and continue from there. This isn’t so much a lack of true editing as it is a complete lack of ANY basic proofreading, as well as wholly ignoring the proofreading your software is doing for you.

Then we have the true editing and research issues.
- the first two chapters are so thick in similes that a reader can hardly slog through them. I understand the goal is to set a vibe, but it’s entirely too much, especially because that vibe and style is immediately and completely discarded, not to be revisited.
- a reader can easily decipher where the author stopped writing for the day and picked up again later, because the tone and writing style shifts are jarring. See the above point, but also you have characters being written completely differently from one scene to the next. The Irish characters stand out the most, as their dialog goes back and forth between heavily accented and fully not. However Beau and Simon suffer from the same fate. Their dialog and interaction in the first three chapters are so wildly different from the later chapters, not only do they seem to not be the same characters, but they don’t even feel like they’re in the same book.
- the first chapters lean HEAVILY on it being late summer in Georgia. The heat is discussed at length. Later, with the timeline being only 2-3 weeks later (I think?) people are wearing coats and furs, with fires burning in the home. Rain is never mentioned, which is wild for late summer, aka hurricane season, in Georgia.
- the MMC’s stated height varies repeatedly throughout the story.
- the MMCs are said to be wearing tailored slacks and dress shirts, or suits, and then also repeatedly mentions them wearing heavy boots. What is this outfit?
- the MMC is described as southern aristocracy, and also multiple times as a cowboy. His syntax varies between those and also some, I don’t know, Appalachian coal miner. Cowboys and southern aristocracy are not in any way comparable, culturally, geographically, or socioeconomically. In fact, people in both those cultures would be very offended to be mistaken for the other. It’s like conflating someone in finance in New York and a tractor mechanic in Kansas. In one scene it’s said he “tips his hat to [the FMC], like someone in a western.” What hat? This moneyed southern man would not risk his hair by wearing a hat, that doesn’t go with his outfit, because wealthy southern men don’t dress with hats unless it’s an outdoor event and they’re wearing some straw boating hat with their seersucker. It’s a whole thing.
-the FMC is a ladder climbing shark of a lawyer wanting to make a name for herself. She is a partner at this firm, and aside from being an absolute disrespectful twat to her senior partner, she also IMMEDIATELY starts considering dating an intern. If the partner was a man and the intern a young woman we would see this as being incredibly wrong. The author also mentions this firm having hired multiple interns, but we don’t see them at all. We only see the one she wants to date. The age difference there is ick, and the power dynamics are bordering on illegal. It doesn’t make any sense for the character.

Again, the underlying story is interesting. The characters could be interesting. The very raw ingredients are there. If this were free on a message board I could sort of accept it. But this is nowhere near ready to be published. This reads as the first, very rough draft of a new author, who could benefit from a good writing teacher or editor, and learning the value of research if you are making an actual published book. I hope they continue to work on and improve their craft, because the creativity is there.

The Vampire With Southern Charm

Besties... If dark romance with Southern charm, vampires, and obsessive tension sounds like your vibe… lemme give you the tea on "The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea".😉 Because whew… Beau Thorne is one dangerous vampire and I'm Here. For. It. 😏

Leah Ricci is a balls-bustin' lawyer who doesn’t take nonsense from anyone... immortal vampires included. Their first meeting? Absolutely not a meet-cute. But Beau lives for the fire she throws at him, and watching that push-and-pull tension simmer between them was delicious.

Now y’all know I’m not a fan of 3rd person narrative. I’m a 1st person girl through and through because I like being deep in the character’s head instead of watching from the sidelines. That said, the author’s writing still pulled me in. The Southern atmosphere and charm, along with those hilarious Southern sayings gave the story such a charming tone... even while the suspense ramped up once that first unalived body appears.

The spice is pretty mild (only a couple scenes), but honestly the plot, mystery, and slow-burn obsession carried this story beautifully.

Also… Caelen absolutely stole scenes for me. I need his book immediately. And Evangeline? Yeah… she can kick rocks!Clearly, not a fan 😒.

Overall this was a fun, suspenseful paranormal romance and I’m definitely sticking around for the rest of this series. Add it to your TBR.

I would honestly give this book 1000 out of 1000 stars if I could. The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea by C.P. Harrow completely hooked me from the beginning and I had such a hard time putting it down.

The story was amazing and kept me interested the whole time. I really loved the relationship between Beau Thorne and Leah Ricci. Watching their connection grow throughout the story was one of my favorite parts. Their personalities clash in such an interesting way and the chemistry between them made me want to keep reading to see what would happen next.

One thing I really liked about this book was the writing style. It is different from most books I have read, but in a good way. It made me slow down and really pay attention to what I was reading. Once I got used to it I actually loved it because it made the story feel more real and immersive.

This book had me completely hooked. The story, the characters, the mystery, and the romance all worked really well together. I enjoyed it so much that I am already planning to read it again because I feel like I will notice even more details the second time.

Now my only problem is that I need book two. I really want to know what happens next for Beau and Leah. I am definitely looking forward to the next book because I loved this one so much.

If you enjoy paranormal romance and stories that pull you in and keep you reading, I definitely recommend this book.

Oh. My. Goodness. I devoured this book. A small Southern town built and protected by a vampire? Yes, please. This was such a refreshing take on vampire romance. It is dark, moody, a little dangerous, and so deliciously Southern Gothic I could practically taste the sweet tea and blood in the air.

Beau is not your typical broody, ancient vampire. And Leah, she gives as good as she gets. Their banter had me grinning like an idiot, and when she slapped him and he liked it? I swear my soul left my body. The tension, the heat, the push and pull between them… absolute perfection.

The writing was beautiful and poetic without ever dragging. Every scene felt vivid, like I was standing right there in that haunted little town. My only complaint? It’s a happy-for-now ending, and I need more. Like yesterday.

If you love vampire romances with bite, sass, and Southern charm, run don’t walk and grab The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea. I’m officially obsessed and counting down the days for more from this world.

If you like your vampires ancient, broody, fiercely protective, and laced with Southern charm, The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea is a great pick.

Leah lands in a tiny Georgia town and quickly finds herself caught between two very different men. One is dark, watchful, and dangerous. The other is smooth, sweet, and far from what he seems. Both want her, but for very different reasons…

Beau Thorne - “Dark hair swept back from a brow made for tipping hats and getting away with trouble. His eyes were the color of good bourbon lifted to a lamp, warm until the moment they weren’t.”

What really worked for me was the writing and atmosphere. The world building leans hard into its Southern setting in the best way, from the heat and storms to the food, accents, and small-town tension. It gives the story a strong sense of place and a slightly gothic edge that pairs beautifully with the vampire elements.

This is a quick, engaging read with old magic, witty banter, a touch of vampire lore, and enough mystery to keep the pages turning. If you’re in the mood for a Southern-flavoured paranormal romance with morally grey vibes and a protective vampire presence, this one hits the spot nicely.

The Devil Drinks Sweet Tea took a bit of time to hook me, but it was an entertaining read overall! The writing style is heavy with similes and metaphors which took me out of the story, but the southern vampire vibe was fun. There were glimpses of found family woven into the story, but the side characters were still not well-known by the end of book 1. Similar to the side characters, I wish we’d gotten some more character development for the main characters. I felt like we didn’t really know anything about either one of the MCs (other than their personalities), which made it hard to emotionally connect with them. With that said, I do think this series has potential and the story/plot was interesting. I found the FMC’s pragmatic/realistic view on love and relationships to be refreshing. I’m looking forward to more character development in following books!

Beau Thorne is a southern vampire, leader of the Bloodborn coven and basically owns the town of Thorne Ridge (which he founded waaayyyy back in the day). He is navigating 2 wars… one with an abomination of an entity who is causing the mysterious deaths of his townsfolk and the other with a spicy, Italian lawyer, Leah Ricci, who is new in town and he can’t seem to leave alone. As Beau and Leah’s relationship starts to heat up a bit, those 2 wars collide when the entity becomes obsessed with Leah and Beau must protect her.

I loved this story! Beau is a sexy, tall, southern gentleman of a vampire and Leah is this tiny Italian spitfire of a human lawyer who cannot stand him initially. The tension between them is delicious and I loved seeing their relationship slowly progress. The side characters are memorable and fun and add even more dimension to the story. I can’t wait for the next book in the Bloodborn Fates series!

A small Georgia town built and protected by Beau Thorne, who just happens to be a vampire with a coven living in Thorne Manor. Leah Ricci is the new lawyer in town, who has a plan to move on to bigger and better things. The last thing she wants is a man in her life. When bodies start piling up and Leah is the next target, Beau and the coven must come to the rescue.

This is a beautifully written Southern Gothic tale. The pacing is great, the fight scenes are epic and the spice is mild but well done. The banter between the MCs is great and the side characters are amazing. You've got feral Irish twins, a broody Viking, and a French scholar among others. I can't wait to see what this author does next!

Once I started this book I could not put it down. We follow Beau , a stubborn, southern vampire who thinks he has complete control over Thorne Ridge… until Leah Ricci shows up and flips his world upside down. Her sassiness winds him up in all the best ways, and the banter between these two? Pure gold.

Leah has no idea what she’s walking into, and Beau will burn the whole world down if anything threatens her. You’ll finish this book wishing you had a southern sweet-tea-drinking vampire of your own. His stubbornness and her sassiness are truly chef’s kiss.

And the side characters? C.P. Harrow wrote them SO well. I adored Simon, the perpetual Frenchman mediator and of course the silent Viking, Garin, and the absolutely feral twins Rua and Cian. They’re hilarious and unforgettable. Loved this book!!

Loved:

You can almost feel Beau’s accent and charm

Unique plot that toed the line between suspense and horror

Great side characters and they’ve all got stories, I could sense it.

I feel like this series could have an infinite number of books. So many different things were introduced in this one (vampires, wraiths, the hollow born, etc.) and I can’t wait to learn more about them.

Didn’t Love:

The language started out very flowery, but it either lessened or I got used to it.

I’m not a huge fan of insta-love, but considering how short this novel is, I think it was sort of necessary

As much as I liked Leah, I would have loved more of her backstory (maybe coming in future books?)

I prefer my sex scenes more drawn out but there are also great moments of yearning

I enjoyed reading the ARC for this quite a bit. It definitely took me a bit to get into the writing style- I knew it was southern going in, but this was a whole new level of similes and metaphors for me! Once I got used to it though I really got into the story and liked it. Leah was my favorite part of the story- her reactions to every high handed move by Beau were so wonderful and realistic. I loved the small town southern vibes, the Gothic creepy mansion back drop, and mystery threading through the background. Definitely recommend for a fun southern vibes read!

Beau Thorne and his merry band of vampire covenant residents have been protecting his southern Georgia town. Leah Ricci,an Italian lawyer, relocated to this sleepy little town and chaos ensues as she has picked up a paranormal stalker.

Beau is enamored with Leah almost from the get go. She's witty and take no prisoners, especially Beau's brand of Southern Vamp alpha hole. Remember he didn't get to Alpha status overnight. Beau is centuries old and has assimilated quite nicely in the sleepy town, but he protects it with his life and his merry band of other vampire misfits. I loved waiting to find out what was chasing Leah and the suspense kept me stuck to my eReader. There's more plot than spice, but once these two get it on the first time, it's glorious even if he later bites her. 😉😆

This was a highly anticipated read for me. While the author is an amazing descriptive writer and felt like I was watching a movie in my head, it just left me wanting more. While I love Beau, was not a huge fan of the FMC. She was written to be this strong woman who wasn’t afraid of anything and it turn more into a damsel in distress. I know the author is writing the next book which I am guess is about the Viking bloodborn so I will continue the series but this one left me wanting a bit more spicy bite.

Southern charm seeped thru the pages of this book effortlessly. Talk about the Devil being charming?!?! This one was laced Bourbon with a honey twist and I couldn’t get enough of him. Loved the use of metaphors and in depth descriptions of southern drawl. MMC Thorne and FMC Leah gave all the banter that makes ENEMIES TO LOVERS a fave trope! The coven reeked of loyalty and respect! Oh and that vampire lustful spice was perfect (😉could have used more of that) But I love how it stayed pretty grim until he would fully indulge and then make up for it for a possible eternity ❤️‍🔥

The plot in this book is absolutely amazing. For a book that’s not crazy long, it has so much going on.
I loved all the action, the vampires, the magic, the creatures. It was written so well.

The only reason why I rated it 3 stars is because the entire novel is full of errors. There are so many spelling errors, words together instead of spaced, grammar errors. I just don’t understand because spell check would have fixed a lot of these issues, so that was really frustrating when trying to read. Otherwise it would be perfection.

A unique fast paced vampire book.
Leah, the lawyer. A sexy smart and witty lawyer that has caught the attention of Beauregard Thorne, the towns owner and local vampire.
When a legend that should have been long gone comes back and has also set its eyes on Leah, its up to Beau and his coven to save her. Or loose the town and loose each other.
quick read. 4 star 🌟 and 2 🌶

What an utterly amazing book. I love the thought of a coven being a mixture of such diverse creatures who fought like family acted like family but we’re not born together. The story around the fact that they have to deal with and the love interest combined makes it an exceptional reading and thoroughly enjoyable novel. Will definitely read more from this author.

Sassy, classy and a whole lotta fun!

If you like an over abundance of southern metaphors and sayin's in one book? This has you covered. It was a wild ride from one end to the other. I love Leah's fire and stubborn streak. Beau is a Southern rogue from beginning to end! I definitely can't wait for a book with the twins finding love!

This was such a fun read! I love a good vampire romance and absolutely enjoyed the side of murder mystery and the sprinkle of Balkan folklore. The southern charm and setting were done beautifully. The FMC is intelligent and sassy AF.. the best combination.

I definitely recommend this book if you love vampire romances, thrilling murder mysteries, and a simple southern setting where what you see on the surface isn't always what you get.

The devil drinks sweet tea was beautiful. The writing style allows you to hear the drawl in every word.
C P HARROW has lovingly created a wonderful mix of diverse characters that keep you begging for more.
There was a few times I did feel things got a little repetitive with small details being stated over again but overall its a great start to a series and I am glad I picked it up.
