Heir Under The Tree

She thought I’d forget her.
So she didn’t tell me about the baby.

I left Ivy Grove with ambition in my blood and her name on my tongue. Now I’m back — and the boy calling her “Mom” has my eyes. My jaw. My fire.

He’s mine.
She’s always been.

But she built a life without me. A home. A business. A five-year-old secret wrapped in red flannel pajamas and a paper ornament that says Daddy.

I came home for family. I just didn’t realize it would be my own.
Now I’m about to burn my empire to the ground so I never have to leave — for them.

I was the man who left.
I’m going to be the man who stays.

And if my son asks if I’ll still be here tomorrow?
Yes. Forever.
I may have missed his first steps.

I won’t miss a single breath after this.

Read on for secret sons, snow-drenched grovel, hot cocoa proposals, and a man who kneels at Christmas — but never begs. HEA Guaranteed!

If AI was...

If AI was a badly written book! Timeline and storyline is all over the place. Repetition of lines. AI became confused, hallucinated and spit out a word salad mess. Undeveloped characters and cringy sex scenes. This AI writing software gets an F.

storyline confusing

I liked the book but the storyline left me with so many questions like…when he comes home and gets off the plane and recalls to himself that he hasn’t been home in 3 years, so you didn’t know you had a son back then? I mean he is 5

Driving through town with his parents he asks about the coffee shop and the mom is talking about Whitney as if she doesn’t know her. (She describes her like she doesn’t know her)Weren’t they living together before he left? I remember something about them standing in their small apartment watching him pack.

They live in a small town yet she never told the grandparents about the kid.

Later in the book At the dinner his mother says she made a dessert that Whitney used to love and Whitney says "you remembered" WHAT!

just okay

Was just okay. Story could’ve been crafted better. Important details could’ve been explained more, the sister just disappeared at the end. Needed better story development.
