Rejected Runaway Omega’s Secret Baby for the Billionaire Alpha King: A Rejected Mate Secret Baby Shifter Romance

Rate this book
I got pregnant by the billionaire Alpha King.
Then he rejected me in front of his entire court.
Now he’s back- and he wants us both.

I was just his assistant when the mate bond hit. One night in his office ruined me.
But the next morning, Ryker Blackwater, ruthless Alpha King and my boss, looked me in the eye and

“You’re not queen material. I reject you.”

He didn’t know I was already carrying his heir.

Now I’m hiding while his child grows inside me, using every trick my terrorist uncle taught me to stay invisible.
But Ryker has found us- and this time, he’s not letting go.

He says he wants to protect me.
He says he wants our baby.
He says I still belong to him.

Lies.

I’ll play along. I’ll let him think he’s in control. I’ll use his power, his obsession—whatever it takes to protect my child from the coming war… and from him.

He thinks I’m weak.
He thinks I’m his.
But if he ever wants us again, he’ll have to beg on his knees for it.

Story a 4 but writing errors a 2

Plot points- excellent, the spice level is great. Would give it a 4 but by ch 10 that was down to a 3. By the end I was ready to give a 1star but the plot was complete and I liked the characters as o I settled at a 2

The lack of editing and proofreading though, could’ve made this my first DNF for 2026 but I’m enjoying this series themed around rejected mates and 2nd chances. Do I persisted. Found it through Facebook ads and I’m grateful for KU as I’m not out the cost of a book.

When I read a new to me independently published author I can forgive certain inconsistencies. Typically minor things like a missed word or timeline jumps don’t bother me cuz the author(s) done something I haven’t. They published. What I can’t get past is when the missing word pivots the actual meaning of the sentence and suddenly you’re trying to figure out if the character is now being snarky or sarcastic during a tender moment.
Same goes for wrong homophones, these are things editors and beta readers would catch so I tell myself perhaps the author in question doesn’t have an established support team yet.

I’ve also come to understand some authors use dictation when writing and hey- convenience is great and technology is awesome. I would think one would read the written material though prior to publishing cuz “live birth” and “wide berth” are 2 entirely different things and when this type of error is happening in a dramatic moment - well it definitely interrupts the flow of the story.

Basically I’m hooked into the theme of the series so I’ll give it a couple more books but I’m hoping that these pain points are just learning curves and I can start giving 4s & 5s

Ryker & Nora’s satisfying story!

This was a great read – not my favorite by KA Iris, but a good one nonetheless. Ryker is the Alpha King. He has established a strong, progressive kingdom, using the human technology and building an empire. Nora is hired as his assistant. She is his fated mate. She was told by a witch that she would be the kings mate and queen, and applied for the assistant position to meet the king, but despite her enthusiasm, she wanted to get to know him and her responsibilities as his mate and future queen. But she was unknowingly manipulated by her so called uncle who has ulterior motives and a past with Ryker. When Ryker finds out, he rejects her in the most brutal way – a dead he regrets immediately. His effort to find and make her forgive him as well as finding Grey and protect himself, Nora, his people – and the rest of the wolf shifters – creates a rollercoaster of a story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Heartbreaking as well as jaw-dropping secrets are revealed along the way. All in all, a great book. 4 stars.

Bubbles

18+, XXX. Adult content, reader discretion advised. Nora is sunshine, rainbows and bubbles. She is all love. She is also really good at not seeing what she doesn't want to. Ryker is a barrel of whiskey that burns, smoke from a raging fire, meaner than a hornet and more paranoid than a prepper. So he knows when Nora interviews for his executive assistant position she was sent to destroy him. While she was, she just had no clue. Add a mate bond and you have a recipe for disaster. When the psychopath who abused Ryker and killed parents comes after them, will they survive?

The writing in this book didn't always make sense which really threw me off. There were sentences that didn't make sense and wording was incorrect. I really I liked the story but I won't be read this nor would I feel compelled to recommend it to anyone. It was just ok.

The story was pretty good

The characters had me hate and love them at the same time. The story had some intense moments and some was hard to read but all in all it was a good story.

It was an interesting idea.
Basically Nora was told by a witch when she was young that she was the mate of the king. So she applies for a job as his assistant (I hate the boss/secretary trope). He's in his 40s. Don't like that trope either!
Of course, her uncle is using her to get to the king and when it all hits the fan, H humiliates her in front of like his entire kingdom. She runs. Of course, she's preggers.
He did track her down and then they go into hiding.
See, h's "uncle" is actually this mad scientist who tortured H for years because he had the berserker gene. Which (spoilers) doesn't actually exist.
I did love the concept of a "kingdom" where alphas who didn't want to/couldn't be alpha leaders went to live.
I liked the twists. Just wish some of those twists were the tropes.
Might read again.
