Buried beneath Stonehenge for millennia... they waited.
When a violent earthquake tears open the Wiltshire countryside, ancient stones erupt from the earth, devastating the A303. Amid the chaos, survivors are drawn into a vast sinkhole, not by choice, but by an invisible force they cannot resist.
Reporter Ellen Vale follows eccentric farmer Henry Billington underground in search of his missing dog, Meg, unaware that something older than recorded history is herding the earthquake survivors into the dark. Beneath the British soil, an ancient species of arthropod known as the Sekta has awakened.
Trapped in a labyrinth of caverns and myth, the fractured groups must unite to stay alive.
Former soldier Mike embarks on a dangerous mission, while RAF pilot Lucy Cavener guides terrified civilians through the shadows. Meanwhile, young Jayden discovers that the very thing that sets him apart, his autism, may be the key to understanding the threat rising beneath their feet. Driven by stubborn determination, Henry finds his fractured mind might be his greatest asset.
Then there is Neo, a man who claims to be as old as Stonehenge itself. His knowledge of the caves is vast, and his interest in Ellen runs deep. If she cannot uncover his intentions, she may become lost for eternity.
As the Eternal Colony tightens its grip, one truth becomes undeniable: they have not been idle, and their resurgence will not end underground.

Jason Piggott is a UK-based science fiction author, multimedia creator, and founder of Shadow Colony Media. His debut novel, Resurgence: The Eternal Colony, blends mythic resonance with cinematic suspense, inviting readers into a world shaped by emotional depth and speculative mystery. Jason’s passion for storytelling was sparked when he was gifted a copy of Jedi Search by Kevin J. Anderson — the first book in The Jedi Academy Trilogy. That moment ignited a lifelong love of sci-fi and world-building, eventually leading to the creation of Resurgence, a story that first took shape 25 years ago during a drive along the ancient A303. Rooted in the landscapes of Wiltshire and Southampton, Jason draws inspiration from ancient stones, modern mysteries, and the quiet power of imagination. He holds a diploma in art and design and previously worked as a head chef, known for his creative flair — instincts that now fuel his writing, publishing, and brand-building work. Jason honed his craft by learning from storytelling experts like Joanna Penn and K.M. Weiland, applying their insights to shape a final product that he is incredibly proud to share with the rest of the world. When not writing, he enjoys countryside walks, spinning vinyl, and pretending he’s not thinking about plot twists. Resurgence is an absolutely gripping sci‑fi read with immersive, layered world-building and a subterranean colony beneath Stonehenge that feels vivid, eerie, and fully lived-in. Having grown up in the UK I found myself almost being able to smell the landscape.
The characters are believably flawed and human, and their emotional baggage and growth make every choice and moment of danger hit harder, so the tension comes as much from who they are as from what hunts them. The story builds toward a satisfyingly sweet, hard-earned meet-cute conclusion that lands perfectly and leaves you closing the book with a smile.
As far as I know, this is Piggott’s first work. Jason has delivered a really solid and thoroughly entertaining first book, and it is genuinely exciting to see what might come next from him in this universe or wherever his next effort will take his writing.
