Married to Secrets

Rate this book
I have two choices… get married within the year or lose billions.

My main shareholder has been given a year to live. When he dies, his shares will go to his out-of-hand children, and the company my friends and I spent our lives building will burn to the ground.

Unless we can convince him to sell to us.

But he’s not interested in our money; he has a list of demands for us, hoping we’ll turn out better than his kids.

All the demands seem fair, from seeing a personal trainer to taking a quarterly founders' retreat. Until we get to the last item on his list.

“Get married and sign a pre-nup promising your bride 50% of your fortune upon divorce.”

No amount of arguing or money will deter him from his plans. So the five of us are left with no other choice. We all get married. Or we all fail.

Marrying the wrong person could cost us everything.

But we already have everything to lose.

Hi! My name is Kelsie Hoss. I'm an author of relatable, heartfelt spicy adult romance. Being an avid romance reader myself, I always wanted to read books about women like me with curves and stretch marks and flaws that make us beautiful and unique.
Even better than that - I wanted a woman like me to get a true hero. Someone worth bringing home to mama!
Since I couldn't find those books... I wrote them.
It was so fun that I now have multiple stories available with more coming all the time!
When not writing, you'll likely find me hanging out with my three boys, obsessing over sourdough recipes, or channeling my inner goddess in the garden.

One Liner: Nice (but ends in a cliffhanger)

Bryce and his friends are in a mix. Their mentor and the company's main shareholder has a year to live, and the man gives them a list of demands to fulfill if he has to sell his shares to them. One of the demands is for Bryce and his business partners to “get married and sign a prenup promising your bride 50% of your fortune upon divorce.”

With no alternative and a whole lot of risk and gambling, Bryce tries to find himself a bride he'd luckily never have to divorce.

The story comes in Bryce, Jada, and Jude’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts

I have moods when I get drawn to such premises, so I grabbed it, knowing the book is the first in the series and ends on a cliffhanger for the overarching plot. Apparently, the MMC’s brothers got their books in another series, so this is like a spin-off that also works as a standalone.

The pacing is great from the first, so that’s a bonus. The MMC is a pretty good guy. No grumpy, rude dude here. He is understanding and falls in love rather too quickly, but since he calls himself a nerd who isn’t used to getting into and out of relationships, we’ll give him grace.

The FMC is a plus-sized, tall woman (six feet) (the publisher’s name was another reason I grabbed this ARC), so it was cool to read about someone who could stand taller than many men and punch them in the face if required (though she doesn’t do that, unfortunately).

I’m not sure why another guy, one of the partners/friends, needed a first-person POV. Also, his name is Jude, and the FMC is Jada, so it caused me quite a bit of confusion. Why do their names have to be so darn similar?

The FMC’s grandma was nice, but I’d think someone who knew of their situation would be more careful with money.

Of course, the MMC shows how to solve issues with money, but he has a good heart. This is kind of a billionaire romance, anyway. Money gotta be spent in bundles. ;)

The romance was low-stakes and insta (from one side). It wasn’t particularly interesting, and the drama helped a little, but I wouldn’t call it intense. However, what worked for me was their ability to communicate. Though the FMC keeps a secret (makes her realistic), she reveals it at the right time, and from thereon, they talk things out. That’s always a relief.

I guessed one of the twists, but I’m not sure about the supposed change in attitude of that character. We’ll know in the next book, hopefully. The title is out, but there’s no blurb, so not sure who’d feature in that one. I think I do know that the FMC’s friend would be likely paired with one of the remaining guys. Maybe with the guy who became nasty? Let’s see.

Interested readers can check out the bonus story for this couple. However, it is put up as a free purchase and requires even my address, so I had to let it go. Newsletter subscriptions are a good exchange for bonus stories, but not the entire address.

To summarize, Married to Secrets has its moments, and I admire the author for stepping out of her comfort zone and writing tropes she didn’t like (mentioned in the author’s note). It was a decent read, but it could have been better.

Thank you, NetGalley and Curvy Girl Romance, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

I had the alc & arc for this book & while the audio had moments that felt off (parts sounded muffled), the story was a good one!!

This book and the plot sucked me in pretty quickly! Some parts felt slower, but the drama & twist in the book had my full attention!!

Jada & Bryce absolutely had the chemistry and their relationship was so fun to watch unfold. A billionaire MMC who has a year to fall in love & marry & an FMC who finds herself in a tough situation. Their relationship definitely isn’t one that follows tradition, but the romance that blossoms is so refreshing!

This book was quick, fun, and twisty. It will keep you hooked & guessing! I cannot wait to see what book 2 holds!!

Thank you Kelsie for the early arc & alc!

as much as I love that series:

Kelsie took us to a whole new level. This is the epitome of all that KH gives us, but dialed up to 11.

If there is something you love about Kelsie’s books, you will find it in MTS. You also get an excellent experience that spans so much more.

This introduction to this series hits hard. Well written with great pacing. The secrets/lies/half truths make you squeal out loud. I felt this story thoroughly while reading.

At the center of it all we get this great relationship between 𝗕𝗥𝗬𝗖𝗘 & 𝗝𝗔𝗗𝗔. I immediately wanted everything for these two. The desires & motivations were perfectly played out. The little things, the interactions, and the dialogue brought everything forward- which really put me in this constant desire to know more and feel more with each page.

The love story within grew naturally and damn I wanted it all for them.

Not last nor least:
MAYA was perfect. Enjoyed seeing her again - in all her greatness. ❤︎

5🌟 2🌶 ARC Review!🥺

If theres one thing Kelsie knows how to do, its to create characters with such depth and complexity, that its hard not to fall in love with them. Her characters are always easy to connect and resonate with. The way she writes her men to fall head over heels, to love and ADORE their women, to be so wholesome and so endearing; is incredible.

I say this with every Kelsie book and every Kelsie ARC read, but she truly does inspire me beyond words. She makes me feel like I am worthy and reminds me that regardless of my size, I am appreciated and I am deserving of being loved and adored. Maybe its the fact that these books hit home for me, but it tugged on my heartstring so much.

Bryce Madigan is no exception. I have LOVED falling in love with his brothers and his dad's story, but I've been SO excited about getting Bryces ever after. He is incredible. His heart knows no bounds, whether its giving back to those in need or those who gave to him. He loves with every fibre of his being, he may just be the most compassionate Madigan. Hes dorky, hes geeky, hes humble, he's ADORABLE when he's nervous or when the tips of his ears go red because he's blushing. Also this man's MOUTH?🥵🥺

Jada, our FMC, is a strong and beautiful woman. She's hardworking, she's relatable, despite life throws at her; she perseveres and doesn't give up. She gets in her head a lot but Bryce grounds her.

This one is a bit (a lot) different from Kelsies romance novels as this is full of plot twists and suspense! Even now the book is over, its a massive cliffhanger and I am NOT okay. The gasps I GUSPED at the suspense in this and how I needed to read more until it abruptly ended😭

One thing that didnt change is how WELL Kelsie integrates every single character, and in depth too. How well you get to know each character, that the witty banter and inside jokes are so easy and quick to catch on to. Its welcoming and warm, its sweet and its hilarious. Its truly a universe that feels like family and I am forever appreciative of @kelsiehoss and the Hello Universe (which now extends to this!)

Thank you to the author Kelsie Hoss and her team for the advanced audio copy for my honest review.

I love Kelsie Hoss, so when I had the chance to listen to an advanced audio copy of her new Married Series, I jumped on it and I was not disappointed.

We return to the Madigan family from the Hello Series, this time following Bryce’s story. Bryce Madigan and his five friends have built a successful tech company with the guidance of their mentor, but they’re suddenly given an ultimatum: get married or risk losing everything they’ve worked for.

Enter Jada, who works in the daycare center in Bryce’s building. She’s a firecracker, fiercely independent but she’s also struggling under financial debt while caring for her elderly grandmother. When Bryce sets his sights on Jada, what starts as reluctant agreement to a date quickly turns into a marriage of convenience and possibly something much more.

Their chemistry is immediate, and the banter between them is top-tier. In true Kelsie fashion, the characters are thoughtfully developed, making it easy to feel connected not only to Bryce and Jada but also to the supporting cast. I especially appreciated the intentional and meaningful representation woven throughout the story.

I experienced this through audio, and the duet narration was absolutely incredible. It added an extra layer that truly brought the story to life. There were a few moments where the FMC felt slightly disjointed, but it never pulled me out of the story.

The twists? Genuinely surprising in the best way. I did not see them coming. And that cliffhanger… ma’am, I’m going to need the next book immediately.

If you love found family, a fresh take on marriage of convenience, a curvy FMC, billionaire MMC, great banter, and just the right amount of spice, this is one you’ll want to pick up.

ARC Review 🩷

I really enjoyed this story! Glamma is amazing. I love that we get to see Maya in this story as well all grown up.

I wish we could’ve gotten more time with Bryce and Jada as they got to know each other and that spark grew between them. It felt like more often they were worried about the marriage, the surprise, and what other people will think. Which I understand seeing as it is a marriage of convenience so makes sense it focused on all of that more.

That bomb dropping towards the end tho! Omg my mouth literally dropped! 🤯 I did not see it coming at all!

I can also appreciate that there was no third act break up in this story because I’m not a fan of those lol I love that they got their HEA.

The ending was insane. Definitely left me NEEDING the next book to drop!
Kelsie Hoss you never disappoint! 🩷

I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review:

We finally got Bryce’s story! If you are a fan of the Hello Series then you know all about the Madigan brothers and saw snippets of Bryce throughout the series. Gone is the college student and you get the distinguished business owner. The relationship between Bryce and Jada was a fantastic read full of twists, turns, and unexpected moments. I always appreciate the authors use of plus sized female characters that get a happily ever after. Representation matters! Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the book and can’t wait to continue the series! This series is like the hot older sister that gives eldest daughter vibes compared to the Hello Series. The change of pace was welcomed and shows how Kelsie Hoss is a talented author not afraid to pivot and still work her magic.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

The story I didn't expect from the first line, and with every turn of a page. I gasped at the first sentence, and it felt like the book was already starting with a twist.

I am a fan of Kelsie Hoss as an author and this story did not disappoint. It actually exceeded my already high expectations with the unexpected turns of events throughout. I will be honest and say I did not ready the synopsis and still haven't, so maybe my "surprise" was my own doing. No regrets!

Another definite must read if this is a genre you enjoy! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Curvy girls deserve love and spice too, even if secrets are involved! Kelsie Hoss knows how to pull you into the story, and get you a little hot and bothered as well... but how dare you share these secrets with us and then leave us throwing our books at the wall?! All I can say is, this book is so good and I'm glad she writes them and gets them out quick, because what do you mean I have to wait to find out where this is going?

Umm…wow ok!!

I’ve been a Kelsie Hoss fan for a very long time. After reading her Hello Series, I was very excited to enter this new chapter but also curious about what direction it would take.

I was fortunate enough to receive MTS as an ARC and lets just say it did NOT disappoint! I flew through this book in 2 days; I’m pretty sure there was some magic fairy dust sprinkled in it or something 😂

I found the plot so new and refreshing ❤️ Forced marriage isn’t usually my go to trope but I absolutely loved the spin on this one.

And those plot twists??? Diabolical but so perfect!!

If you haven’t tried any of Kelsie Hoss’s books (and even if you have!) this one is guaranteed to become a new favorite ❤️❤️

Kelsie has done it again!

First off, thank you to Kelsie Hoss and her team for the ARC copy of Married to Secrets. I thoroughly enjoyed embarking on this next chapter of your writing!

This book. What can I say? It made me happy, sad, and mad all by the end. Just when I thought I had all of the twists figured out, a new one would get thrown into the mix. Then the end... Let's just say, I need the next book like right now!

I enjoyed every second of this new series and am counting the days until the next one releases.

Instantly obsessed with the banter! Bryce and Jada are so cute and funny! I love that there was no breakup! They worked through every problem!!

I ran through a lot of emotions while reading this. Most of the time I was giggling or laughing out loud. Sometimes I was frustrated and some I was sad.

Overall, I didn’t wanna put the book down.

Bryce, the youngest of the Madigan family, is a billionaire. Working for a startup company, MyHome, that he created with 4 friends from college. But their mentor, who owns 30% of the shares of the company, has found out he’s gravely ill. He has a stipulation for the 5 men if he is to sign over his shares of the company. Otherwise they go to his ungrateful, selfish children.

Jada works in the daycare of MyHome. She charges through Bryce’s office to make demands for the daycare. Bryce is immediately bowled over her beauty. Now with time working against him and Jada’s shocking discovery, they have so much working against them.

Unlike the other stories in the Hello series by Kelsie Hoss, this book definitely puts a new spin on happily ever after by way of “with love anything is possible”. Such a great story and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

Bryce and Jada’s story is engaging, full of chemistry, and layered with intriguing twists that kept me hooked. The first book in the new series Married to Secrets by Kelsie Hoss. I really enjoyed this book, I read it in just over a day, every time I told myself “one more chapter, then I’ll go do this..” I found myself reading multiple chapters. This book gives us Bryce’s story, the youngest of the Madigan boys. A marriage contract, plus size FMC, heath challenges and many secrets to unravel.
While I felt some parts of the story to be predictable, I still really enjoyed reading this booked and I highly recommend this book.

This one didn't have any of the magic of the first of her books. It felt like she was too busy creating a mystery that would require more novels to waste time actually writing a story in this one.

I've been reading Kelsie Hoss's books over the last couple of years. The FB ads stalked me until I finally tried Hello Temptation. I really loved a plus size FMC and a sexy Texan MMC. Pretty soon I read the whole Hello... collection.

Last year she announced the end of the Hello Series with Hello Handsome. Immediately I wanted to know what about Bryce Madigan the youngest Maddigan. Married to Secrets is his story.

This is a departure from the Hello Series. It starts with Bryce at 35, having designed a successful app for finding a home, and becoming a billionaire in the process. Except one of the founders is sick. they can either follow his conditions to aquire his shares or they go to his terrible children. One of his conditions getting married and signing a prenup giving their future wives 50%.

Without any spoilers, I enjoyed the plot twists. Each time I'd say, "Wait, don't tell me...."

Gotta say this one reminded me a bit of Hello Temptation. Not because of the African-American FMC and Caucasian MMC. Although Hen and Jada would be fast friends. Both are strong, stunningly beautiful inside and out, afraid to come out of their shells, and waiting to bloom into the women they can be.
MTS reminded me of HT because, I wasn't always sure if Jada and Bryce were going to be able to work it out, much like Hen and Tyler. As much as Glamma stole the show in this story, getting to read about Maya Madigan all grown up was a favorite.

ARC REVIEW
I can’t even explain how much I love Kelsie’s writing! After reading the Hello Series and then diving into this book was exactly what I needed, especially getting to read Bryce’s story.
As always with Kelsie’s books I’ve rated this 5 stars and honestly with the way my jaw had dropped a couple times it needs to be more than that. The spice was spicing for sure😝 and the plot was so amazing. I loved that not only is the fmc curvy and plus sized but how Kelsie incorporated a medical issue that women face.
I loved Bryce Madigan in the hello series and I loved him even more after reading this, the way we got to see him battling the challenges he was facing. Jada Baker is so perfect for him even if their relationship wasn’t exactly traditional. Even though she was going through a lot I loved how honest she was, taking care of her grandmother, the way she takes care of others. One thing I loved most was Bryce noticing how much she takes care of others and him stating that he’ll be the one to take care of her.
Something that had made me very emotional about and made me cry was the relationship Jada had with her grandma. I loved that even though Jada felt her grandmother would be disappointed in her she still confided in her. I balled my eyes out at the part when Jada went into the house and glamma was sleeping and she started remembering things her and her grandma would do, it hit me hard because I wished I was able to do those things with my grandma.
The words written, emotions felt, and the envisioning like we’re inside the book is absolutely beautiful. I can’t express enough how I’ll forever recommend a book from Kelsie. 🖤

I received this book as an ARC. Life kept me from being able to review earlier, but let me tell you something:

If you love Kelsie Hoss' "Hello Series", you will love the fact that "Married to Secrets" features baby boy Bryce Madigan of the Madigan Family, all grown up and living his best yet incredibly humble billionaire life! He's definitely the laid back and softer version of prime Gage Griffen. But here's an important disclaimer:

"Married to Secrets"/The Married Series is NOT the Hello Series! And I mean that in the most gratifying way. The Hello Series was a sweet, spicy, contemporary small town romance with passion and hints of emotional drama. And while Married to Secrets features that same passion, that same plus sized baddie, that same MMC who would burn the world down for his woman, the drama, the angst, the pain, the secrets, the BETRAYAL, the mental and emotional rollercoaster that this book puts you through is NOTHING like Hello. There is so much depth and plot that is weaved throughout this novel and as a fan of the Hello Series, I am amazed in the best way by what Kelsie has done.

I finished this book in less than 24 hours, and now I am pacing my room itching for book two! Bryce Madigan is a true Madigan who believes in love and the sanctity of marriage thanks to his upbringing by father Gray (who has a couple cameos in this story); and as a result, he knows what real love is - what it looks like, what it feels like - and he knows the instant he sees Jada Baker that she is everything he wants, needs, and has waited for.

But things are messy and complicated in their coming together thanks to a clause that forces Bryce to get married or else he will lose massive shares in the company he started. And Jada is in a desperate situation with her health and in need of support financially for herself and her "Glamma". And all the while? She finds herself juggling the confusion from these sudden feelings and FEARS that her "boss" Bryce makes her feel.

Married to Secrets does feature a trope that I typically do not like - but Kelsie does it in a way that makes it tolerable to me without prolonging the issue to the point of miscommunication or a late third act breakup. The issue arises quickly, but is fairly quickly rectified - allowing us to spend more and more time delving into the MCs blossoming relationship.

The plot twists and turns left me reeling. I gasped, I raged, and if my hardcover edition wasn't so daggone pretty? I would have chucked the book across the room. The sense of confusion and betrayal that I felt in this book left me shook - wondering how it will carry on into the other books. At this point, the betrayer is not redeemable for me at all! JERK!

And that huge plot twist! Wow! I had practically guessed it. I was 99.1% sure I had it figured out, but that remaining 0.9% literally made my mouth fall open and I shrieked.

Married to Secrets ends somewhat well for our characters, but also doesn't (iykyk)? It ends with a cliffhanger that will tie into the next book and/or books - and leaves me to wonder how the drama that Bryce and Jada experienced will continue to weave into the remaining stories and impact the remaining characters.

I am so excited for book 2 "Married to Lies". I'll probably come back later and leave a more updated review once my brain actually slows down from this amazing whirlwind, but until then I'll say this:

Married to Secrets is not the Kelsie we knew. This Kelsie is taking leaps, bounds, and digging deeper in ways that has left me in awe. This series has the makings to be an amazing one in terms of plot, drama, and intricate storytelling that I believe will surpass her other books and series - and impact readers for a long time.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kelsie Hoss, and author Kelsie Hoss for providing an ARC copy of Married to Secrets in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book from Kelsie Hoss, and I was absolutely not expecting to love it as much as I did. I went in thinking, “Okay, marriage of convenience, billionaire romance, secrets, sure, let’s see what we’re doing here,” and then suddenly I was fully invested, emotionally nosy, and acting like these people’s fake marriage was my personal business.

Married to Secrets has the kind of setup that can easily go very tropey in a flat way, but this one worked for me because it had heart underneath all the billionaire chaos. Yes, there is money. Yes, there is a marriage arrangement. Yes, there are secrets doing what secrets do best: causing problems while everyone pretends they are totally fine. But the emotional core is what made the book hit. It felt romantic, dramatic, warm, and messy in that “I know this is technically a terrible plan, but please continue” kind of way.

I especially loved how easy it was to root for the characters. The romance had that soft-but-angsty pull I love, where you can feel the walls coming down even when both people are trying very hard to act normal about it. Spoiler: nobody is normal. That is why we are here. The chemistry worked, the stakes were fun, and the emotional moments landed in a way that made this feel like more than just a shiny billionaire fantasy.

What surprised me most was how quickly I cared. This could have been a cute, predictable little “fake marriage but oops, feelings” situation, and honestly, I would have still had fun. But instead, it gave me warmth, tension, vulnerability, and just enough drama to keep me turning pages like I had been personally invited to supervise the bad decisions.

What worked for me:
- The marriage of convenience setup was fun, addictive, and immediately readable.
- The emotional core made the romance feel warmer and deeper than I expected.
- The chemistry had that perfect “this was supposed to be fake, please explain the feelings” energy.
- The secrets added enough tension without making the story feel exhausting.
- The plus-size heroine representation felt refreshing and easy to root for.

What didn’t fully work for me:
- Some parts were a little dramatic, but honestly, that is what I want from a romance so I don't know why I'm complaining ;)
- I occasionally wanted characters to communicate faster, but then we would not have a book.
- The billionaire setup requires a little suspension of disbelief, but I happily packed a bag and went along.
- A few moments leaned trope-heavy, though they still worked for me.
- I now have to add Kelsie Hoss’s backlist to my already-disrespectful TBR, which feels personally inconvenient.

Tropes and vibes:
Billionaire romance
Plus-size heroine
Forced proximity
Fake marriage, real feelings

Who should read it:
Read this if you love marriage-of-convenience romance, billionaire stakes, plus-size heroine representation, emotional secrets, and men who have the resources to be dramatic on a much larger budget. Married to Secrets was such a fun surprise for me, and I love when a book sneaks up and fully wins me over. Five stars for the fake marriage, the feelings that were absolutely not fake, and the fact that I went in casually curious and came out ready to read more from Kelsie Hoss.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Stars
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Panty Meter: 💦💦.5
Emotional Damage: 💔💔💔

The first thing that grabbed me was how absolutely gorgeous this book is. The cover and sprayed edges are stunning and immediately made me want to dive in.

Married to Secrets follows Bryce, a billionaire CTO who co-founded a wildly successful app company with his four best friends. When one of their major investors—and former college professor—reveals he only has about a year left to live, he offers them the opportunity to purchase his shares. There’s just one catch: all five men must get married, and sign a prenup guaranteeing their wives 50% of everything in the event of a divorce.

Bryce isn’t thrilled by the arrangement, but then he meets Jada, a confident, beautiful, curvy daycare worker who isn’t impressed by his money or status. What starts as a business arrangement quickly turns into something much more complicated as feelings develop, secrets emerge, and both Bryce and Jada realize they may have more to lose than they expected.

I absolutely loved the concept behind this story. The setup felt fresh and gave me plenty of reasons to keep turning the pages. I also loved the friendship between the five founders and the larger storyline that’s clearly being set up for the rest of the series. There were a couple twists that genuinely surprised me, including one moment that completely caught me off guard.

One of my favorite things about this book was the representation. As a curvy girl myself, I loved seeing a plus-size FMC front and center in a romance. It was refreshing to read a heroine who didn’t fit the typical romance mold while still being portrayed as beautiful, desirable, and confident.

That said, this leans much more toward a sweet, traditional romance than the darker, spicier books that usually fill my shelves. The romance was heartwarming, and Bryce and Jada’s relationship development felt genuine. The spice that was on the page was well-written and descriptive when it happened, but I wanted more yearning, angst, and tension leading up to those moments. I don’t mind a slow burn at all, but I need to feel that buildup and anticipation along the way, and I found myself wanting more of that here.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable read with lovable characters, an intriguing series setup, and enough mystery and secrets to keep me invested. While the lower spice and lack of angst kept it from being a higher-rated read for my personal taste, I can absolutely see this being a five-star book for readers who prefer sweeter romances with moderate spice.

I’m definitely interested in continuing the series and seeing how the remaining four marriages unfold.

I am a huge fan of Kelsie and the Hello Series and was so excited for this one to come out, especially because the FMC was a fellow WOC. I was so happy that I was selected to receive the ALC because I love Kelsie’s previous story telling and talent for making the readers emotionally invested. That being said, I have to be honest about my thoughts on this book.

Overall I felt like the timeline of the story was rushed, like everything in the beginning was happening too fast but I like the characters so I moved on. The main parts in the story that had me feeling upset and disappointed were:

- Jada’s twist came out of nowhere. If there had been prior mention of a trailing ex or something like that then it would have made sense to me but there was nothing in the story prior to this revelation that would have made this make sense. This twist was disappointing for me because I was so looking forward to seeing another WOC be featured in a book as the desirable, chosen one (like Hen from Hello Temptation) so for this twist to happen and on top of that she is of low income really frustrated me. It’s too reminiscent of what we see in everyday life so I don’t also want to read about WOC struggling in this way in the romance books as well. I didn’t expect to feel that emotional about it but with the state of things in the world it just bothered me to have to read it in a book as well when I want to read as an escape from the real world stigmas.

- I REALLY hated how Grayson (Bryce’s dad) reacted when Bryce and Jada came to CF so he could introduce her to him and the rest of the family. This was, in my opinion, a drastic difference from his Character in the Hello series. In those he was so patient, kind and accepting so for him to approach them in this cold way made no sense. I would have thought he would have read the contents of the folder, assess and give Bryce the chance to explain things before he made his judgement and act so rude and dismissive. Also, her being a WOC just compounds the uneasy feelings I had of him acting that way because it is just too close to the realities of what everyday life is like for us.

- Jude….now that I’ve finished and know there’s a cliffhanger, I am reserving my opinion about him until we found out more about what’s going on behind the scenes with him. What I will say is that I had NO idea that he would be apart of the twist so that was an interesting turn of events.

Even though I had a tough time with this book, I am still very much a fan of Kelsie’s work and look forward to continue on with the other stories in this series.
