Kissed on Christmas: A Fated for the Holidays short novel

Rate this book
Josephine (Josie) Miller lives for Christmas, the lights, the carols, the cocoa-fueled chaos of it all. As Magnolia Springs’ holiday-obsessed librarian, she believes there’s no problem a little tinsel can’t fix… until a sudden snowstorm leaves her stranded in the mountains two weeks before Christmas.

Enter Weylan Frost, a reclusive, widowed, grumpy mountain hermit with eyes like glaciers and a voice that could freeze the sun. He’s everything Josie isn’ cold, quiet, and definitely not interested in her gingerbread-level cheer. But when he rescues her from the blizzard and shelters her in his hidden cabin, sparks start to melt the ice between them.

What Josie doesn’t know is that Weylan isn’t entirely human. He’s the guardian of Magnolia Spring’s winter wardline, a Yeti shifter bound to protect the mountains from storms and worse. And when she crashes into his world, her warmth begins to tether him to the one thing he’s been losing year after year… his humanity.

Snowed in together, one grump and one sunshine find that sometimes love is the strongest magic of all. Because sometimes fate doesn’t just find you… It claims you.

Kissed on Christmas is a complete standalone. You don’t need to read the other books in the series to enjoy it, though fun cameos from other characters will pop up along the way.

The way to thaw a frozen heart? With cocoa & the true warmth of the Christmas Spirit!

Josie was an immediately likeable character, even if sunshine & bubblegum heroines aren't usually my cup o' tea. Like that Christmas tune you can't seem to get outta your head, Josie had a way of burrowing deep and making me smile. Her sense of self and her love of literature (and Christmas) were apparent from the outset, as was her true and caring heart.

In stark contrast to Josie, Weyland is a brooding, mountain dwelling recluse. It would be easy to typecast him as little more than the Grinch to her holiday cheer, but there is so much more to him. The sacrifices he has made to guard Magnolia Springs for... well, ages really... show the true depth of his generous heart. Even if Weyland himself has forgotten he even has one! Watching him crack and thaw under Josie's stubborn yet tender attention was delightful. And when the storm finally breaks and these two forces of nature colide? It's spicy and frantic and primal in all the best ways.

Grab a cup of peppermint cocoa, turn on those twinkle lights, and treat yourself to a little Christmas love story full of mysterious magic, a Yeti-like shapeshifting Mountain Warder, and the librarian who brings his wild heart back to life.

2.75 ⭐️ rounded to 3 for GR
Josie, a cheery librarian, finds herself stranded in a cabin at the top of a mountain after a freak blizzard almost kills her. She is rescued by a handsome grump, Weyland, who turns out to be a Yeti shifter and the guardian of the mountain.

What to expect:

❄️ grumpy x sunshine

❄️ forced proximity

❄️ fated mates

❄️ slow burn

❄️ low stakes, atmospheric, quiet pacing

❄️ banter

❄️ protective man

❄️ stubborn + strong-willed woman

I didn’t realize this story would have such a large presence of magic and a strong fantasy element with wards and nature responding to them. The fire, the wind, the snow and the mountain almost seem to be side characters in this story. That took me by surprise and made for a fresh experience for me. I was honestly just thinking this would be a hallmark movie with a Yeti Shifter thrown in.

I also enjoyed the descriptive nature of the writing at first- like a kiss that felt like a vow. The story at times felt like poetry.

On the flip side, if you’ve ever read a poem and it is beautiful but you don’t really know what is going on, that is also how I felt at times. I would’ve enjoyed more explanations of the magic, more backstory on Weyland, & more descriptions of her family and town folk, so when they appear at the end we know them better.

I did feel like at times the story jumped or other times moved too slow. It would say his knee brushed her shoulder but I thought they were sitting across the room from each other.

It also left me with so many questions-

It would say the power went out but then they would play music from a radio. The writing was very descriptive at times and other times not enough. They are getting into a hot spring- are they wearing clothes, did they bring towels?

Is Josie not concerned about her family? They were caught in the blizzard too. Are they worried about her? Did they have plumbing and electricity way up there? Did they only eat cookies and drink cocoa the entire time?

My favorite parts were when the plot started picking up the pace with the avalanche and the drama at the end. I loved Weyland’s protective side and enjoyed watching his heart thaw. Once he opened his heart, he became such a sweet cinnamon roll MMC. Overall this was a great read for December & I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and fantasy elements.

Kissed on Christmas is the perfect mix of cozy holiday magic and slow, simmering romance. Josie’s Christmas cheer meets Weylan’s icy solitude in a way that feels both whimsical and deeply emotional. The snowy mountain setting, the sense of fate, and the tender moments between them make this story feel like being wrapped in a blanket beside a crackling fire. I devoured this book in just a few hours because I could not put it down, and I will definitely be reading more from this author. It is heartwarming, a little steamy, and brimming with magic that makes you believe in love strong enough to melt the coldest winter. 10/5 stars from me.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book, but a couple of things got to me early on.
First, as a Librarian, there is no way that I am letting anyone wander around the library with hot cocoa or bowls of soup. Liquids and books do not make good bedfellows, nor do food smells. So with this one plot point, I started to get antsy.

I liked Josie at first - when she was speaking in complete sentences and being herself - but as we get farther into the story, she starts to whip one-liners out and barely has a coherent thought in any kind of linear manner. She seemed entirely TOO happy and accepting of things, but some people in life are. I also wanted a bit more backstory and some kind of connection with her family.

Weylan was harder to figure out. We don't know how long he's been the guardian, we don't know a lot of his backstory, and I think that would have made me a bit more invested in these characters. While I liked the mythical aspect of this story, it felt a bit choppy.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy it - I did - it only took me two days to read, so something kept me compelled.

I did wonder periodically where the electricity and foodstuffs in his cabin came from - at one point, it felt like all they ate were cookies, and that had me concerned.

I really wanted to love this story like I really loved the cover art, but it fell a bit flat for me in the end. That said, if you like a little bit of myth and magical realism in your holiday books, pick this up and read it.

I have tried to identify the correct word to describe this story. I think the descriptor I finally have settled on is enigmatic. The story of Weylan and Josie was as powerful as the wards around the cabin where they fall in love. And it's told in a way that, despite several continuity issues, you can feel that power filling you. It made me very forgiving of the occasional word/spelling/continuity issues which is incredibly unusual for me. I felt all the emotions the characters did: the sadness, the hope, the fear, the peace. With a little bit of work on the text, this would be a phenomenal story.

Book 4 of Fated for the Holidays Series. This is about Josie and Weylan. Josie is everything the Christmas spirit should be. Weylan is guarded and grumpy. A storm brings them together, can sunshine melt his icy heart? This is a fun take of Jack Frost and the abominable snowman lore. Overall, a great Christmas read.

Thank you for the ARC copy for the author, Reina Everhart and Booksirens.

I really enjoyed this. Felt like a perfect read for the christmas time.

Characters were nicely written, and I enjoyed their interaction with each other.

Loved the scenery and there was enough spice.

I don't normally read romances so didn't get a 5 stars but was really close.

A cosy, magical holiday read that shimmers with fated-mates energy, though its slow pace and clunky prose occasionally keep the romance from fully soaring.

This book delivers a low-spice paranormal Christmas romance that is sure to appeal to readers looking for holiday magic and the comfort of the grumpy/sunshine trope. The story follows a well-executed slow burn between the Christmas-loving FMC and her reclusive, frosty Yeti-shifter MMC.

The Good: Heart and Heat
The dynamic between the main characters is the story's greatest strength. The grumpy/sunshine trope was strong but heartfelt, providing emotional payoff. The author successfully conveyed the tentative, cautious nature of the MMC in the text, and I genuinely felt the care he takes as their bond develops. This emotional depth, paired with the strong undercurrent of fated mates and bonds, makes for a truly romantic experience. It’s undeniably a cosy, magical holiday read, with the descriptive setting painting a beautiful, enchanting winter picture.

The spice level is just a little spicy, fitting perfectly with the cautious and slow-burn nature of their connection.

The Not-So-Good: Pacing and Prose
While I appreciate a slow burn, the pacing is slow at times. Around the halfway point, I found myself wishing the plot would move along a bit faster to deepen the connection or introduce more conflict.

The descriptive nature of the writing, while atmospheric, sometimes felt like it came at the expense of flow. I found that parts of the book may have been rushed when written, which resulted in prose that occasionally felt clunky. This feeling was exacerbated by a tendency towards short sentence structures, which broke the rhythm of the narrative.

Finally, while the fated-mates aspect was enjoyable, I found myself wanting more backstory on both MCs. A richer understanding of their pasts would have added significant weight and depth to their present connection and the stakes of their burgeoning relationship.

Final Verdict
Kissed on Christmas is a lovely concept and a heart-warming read for the holiday season, particularly if you enjoy a gentle, magical paranormal romance. The characters and their connection are wonderful but be prepared for a very slow-paced journey and some minor distractions in the narrative's flow. It's a sweet, protective, and ultimately satisfying holiday treat.

If you’ve ever wanted a Christmas romance that feels like being wrapped in a cozy blanket by a fire, Kissed on Christmas by Reina Everhart is your perfect winter escape. Josie Miller is the embodiment of holiday cheer—cocoa in hand, tinsel in hair, and an unshakable belief that Christmas can solve anything. But when a snowstorm strands her in the mountains, she crashes headfirst into the one person who could never appreciate her kind of magic: Weylan Frost, a grumpy, reclusive Yeti shifter guarding the mountains.

From the moment Josie’s warmth collides with Weylan’s icy solitude, sparks fly—both literal and emotional. Everhart’s writing is whimsical, witty, and heart-stirring, capturing the tension of slow-burn romance as two very different souls learn that love can thaw even the coldest heart. The mountain setting, snow-laden storms, and touches of magical Yeti mythology elevate this holiday romance, making it feel enchanted without ever drifting into cliché.

What makes Kissed on Christmas unforgettable:

✔ Irresistible Characters: Josie’s boundless cheer contrasts beautifully with Weylan’s quiet gruffness, creating chemistry that simmers from page one.
✔ Magical Holiday Setting: Snowstorms, hidden cabins, and a touch of mythic shifter magic bring a unique festive twist.
✔ Heartfelt Romance: Beyond the laughs and steamy moments, the story explores emotional healing, vulnerability, and unexpected connections.
✔ Standalone Wonder: While part of an interconnected series, this novel shines on its own, perfect for both holiday romance fans and paranormal lovers.

Reina Everhart delivers a story that’s heartwarming, a little steamy, and brimming with magic—one that makes you believe in love strong enough to melt even a Yeti’s guarded heart. I devoured this book in a single sitting, laughed out loud, swooned endlessly, and felt the kind of emotional tug that lingers long after the final page. Kissed on Christmas isn’t just a holiday romance—it’s a snow-dusted, cocoa-scented reminder that sometimes fate doesn’t just find you… it claims you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A magical, cozy, and heartwarming holiday romance that perfectly blends whimsy, steam, and emotion.

Kissed on Christmas is part of the Fated for the Holidays series. It’s a short standalone title and can be read on its own without any problem, yet you’ll probably want to go back to the beginning if you haven’t read the series, because Josie and Weylan will draw you into this world quite easily. (Cameos by the couples in the first three stories show up and tempt you to want to know their stories as well.) I love that kind of “a part of a series” that invites me to explore a world that is fascinating and well-written.

Josie is the town’s librarian, an upbeat woman who radiates sunshine and is, perhaps, the complete description of the Christmas spirit, for she wraps the magic and wonder of the season around herself (and others) like a warm, cozy cloak. On the way to the cabin she prefers to spend Christmas at, Josie will be caught in a fierce blizzard, lose her way, and find herself rescued by a grumpy hermit… who just happens to be the guardian of these mountains, and a yeti shifter.

Weylan is the epitome of a loner, a grumpy soul who is wrapped up in grief and duty. A man who is slowly, steadily losing his sense of humanity and the wonder of life itself. As a yeti shifter, Weylan has been given the task of protecting these mountains from storms and worse. The last thing he wanted to do was shelter Josie during the storm at his hidden sanctuary. Yes, he had to rescue her from the storm, of course he did, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t resent her presence in his cabin, her constantly happy chatter, or the fact that she’s melting a heart frozen in time and duty.

I enjoyed Kissed on Christmas by Reina Everhart very much. It blends myth, magic, and healing together in a way that is emotionally filled with sadness and laughter… and possibility. If you love Paranormal or Shifter Romance, a definite grumpy/sunshine couple, and a well-told story, then Josie and Weylan’s story would be perfect for you.

ARC Reader Confessional – Kissed on Christmas by Reina Everhart

Kissed on Christmas is pure holiday magic. From the opening chapter, it pulls you straight into a world of soft lights, snowy streets, and that gentle, unmistakable sense of fate weaving two people together. It’s the kind of festive romance that feels like slipping into a warm, familiar moment.

Our heroine is genuine and quietly hopeful, carrying just enough vulnerability to make every choice feel meaningful. And the hero? Steady, warm, and quietly captivating — the kind of man who says more in a single look than most do in a paragraph. Together, their chemistry builds with a sweetness that feels natural and deeply comforting.

The tension between them is subtle but irresistible — lingering glances, almost-confessions, and those soft, snowy moments where the world feels still just long enough for something real to spark. When it finally unfolds, it’s tender, romantic, and exactly what a holiday story should deliver.

Reina Everhart captures the heart of the season beautifully. The cosy atmosphere, the emotional warmth, the sense of possibility — it all blends into a story that’s both soothing and quietly enchanting. The pacing is perfect for a short novel, giving just enough depth to leave an impression while remaining effortless to read.

By the final page, I was smiling — wrapped in that soft, satisfying glow only a truly well-done Christmas romance can give. Kissed on Christmas is charming, heartfelt, and wonderfully uplifting.

A perfect holiday read. Highly recommend.

This is a sweet romance that has holiday magic along with paranormal/mythological elements and shows that sometimes you just need to let a little love in to warm your frosty heart. This is part of a series but this is the only one that I've read so far and found it to be fine as a stand alone.

I did find myself confused at times during the book I felt that I might have missed something but like our characters would be in the cabin then they would all of a sudden be talking about walking around outside... when did they go outside? they were in the cabin then no transition. There is a lot of mentions about the glowing boundaries and the wards etc... but it doesn't give much back story about how Weylan got into this position or how long he's been doing this, I would have liked more information on that.

I had no sense really of how much time was passing in the story throughout most of the book and Josie doesn't seem to be all that concerned about if the family she went up the mountain with got to safety while staying in the cabin with Weylan it's not brought up she seems more concerned about making the cabin they are in more festive for the holiday season. Also questions popped up for me about how well stocked with food his cabin was it seemed at one point they were just drinking cocoa but then he had supplies to make sugar cookies with sprinkles... does he go to the grocery store in town regularly (?)

The characters were likeable but sometimes the storyline felt a bit choppy I did receive an advanced copy and some of these issues may be worked out of the final book.

“A cozy and magical holiday romance that glows with heart and hope.”

Reina Everhart’s Kissed on Christmas is a snow-dusted delight, a story filled with warmth, wit, and a touch of mythic charm. From the first page, readers are swept into Josie Miller’s world of festive spirit and unshakable optimism, set against the icy solitude of the mountains and the guarded heart of Weylan Frost.

Josie’s light and Weylan’s darkness play beautifully against each other, their connection blooming slowly amid snowstorms, secrets, and the flicker of rekindled humanity. Everhart’s prose captures both the sparkle of holiday joy and the ache of emotional healing, weaving a romance that feels magical in every sense.

What makes Kissed on Christmas unforgettable is its perfect balance of whimsy and emotional depth. The Yeti shifter mythology enriches the narrative with an otherworldly twist, while the romance remains deeply human and heart-stirring.

A perfect read for anyone who believes in second chances, fated love, and the quiet magic of Christmas.

I really enjoyed the romance, but OMG, I spent the whole book thinking, "Poor family, she disappeared during the storm. She's happy and enjoying the guy, but what about her family, are they looking for her?"

It's sweet to see how the barriers Waylen built over centuries crumble as his romance with Josie heats up.

I would have liked a little more about Waylen's backstory and some explanation about his Yeti side; I couldn't imagine what he's like in that paranormal form.

I was very worried about all the cookies they consumed; it's a lot of sugar in such a short time, and where did the ingredients come from?

The reunion at the end of the book was very beautiful, but I was curious: what was their daily life like during that year? How does her life work at the bookstore in the city and the cabin in the mountains? Does she commute every day? By car, or does he take her to the city? And most importantly, where does the electricity for the cabin in the middle of the snowy mountain come from? I was left with several unanswered questions.

cozy read

Kissed on Christmas is everything I want in a cozy holiday read—warm, romantic, tender, and sprinkled with just the right amount of fate-driven magic. Reina Everhart has such a gift for creating characters you instantly care about, and this short novel proves it all over again.

From the very first chapter, I was completely pulled in. The chemistry is sweet but powerful, the emotional beats land perfectly, and the story feels like wrapping up in a soft blanket with hot cocoa on a snowy night. Every moment had that nostalgic Christmas sparkle, but also a depth that made the romance feel real and truly earned.

I adored the way the characters found each other, and how the theme of being “meant to be” never felt cheesy—just heartfelt and hopeful. This is the kind of story that leaves you smiling long after the last page.

If you love holiday romances with charm, warmth, and swoon-worthy moments, Kissed on Christmas is the perfect seasonal treat. Absolutely loved it!

Magical Christmas by MeemsAngel82

This was a sweet and special Christmas tale that had a lot of warmth to the story. The lead characters were fleshed out and you got a certain vibe from both. Her endless optimism and cheer vs his duty and loneliness. They clash in a beautiful way and find warmth in one another during this winter season.

He was been enticed by her, knew she was special. She was alone but had what she needed, didn't she?

I love the setting! The whole feel was so cozy and I felt the warmth. And when it came to him I felt the mysterious cold, magic that was special to him alone. He has a opposite personality to her and I felt that it was sweet. I loved the banter and appreciate the settings. I do wish he got to interact with others but regardless this was a fantasy come to life. It was a beautiful story and I really felt the whole holiday and season. I'd also like to add that the bookcover is wonderful. l received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

OMG, you are going to love this book!! Here is the story of Josie and Weylan. She is the Christmas spirit personified, cocoa is her drink of choice, Christmas music her method, and decorating is a must. But she loves to spend the holiday in a cabin by herself. On her way to the cabin on the mountain, a snowstorm causes her to lose her footing and disappear only to be rescue by Weylan, a yeti! He has been cursed with keeping the mountain at peace, but cannot leave Josie to her fate and brings her to his cabin to care for her. HE is not prepared for her banter, her sunshine, her cocoa, her Christmas spirit.

BE ready to fall in love with her words, with his grunts, the magic, the runes, her sunshine, his realization that she is his fated mate.
This book is charged with insights, a secret that will break your heart, passion, and the cutest conversations!.

Kissed on Christmas is the kind of story that feels like stepping into a snow globe beautiful, magical, and quietly alive with heart.

Reina Everhart crafts a love story that glows from within, balancing humor, heartache, and wonder in equal measure. Josie is pure joy vibrant, messy, and endlessly hopeful. Weylan is the storm she never saw coming, cold on the surface but carrying a depth that makes your chest ache. Together, they don’t just find love they rediscover what it means to be seen and to belong.

Every page feels like falling deeper into warmth after a lifetime of winter. Everhart’s prose sparkles with charm but never loses its emotional core. The fantasy elements add a mythic heartbeat that makes the romance even more unforgettable.

This isn’t just a Christmas romance. It’s a story about light finding its way through grief, and love rewriting what we thought was frozen forever.

This seemed like your typical holiday romance. We had a chipper librarian and a grumpy curmudgeon. The read was generally long and slow with narrative that was often descriptive and sounded like poetry. It takes a while to get through this. It would’ve been easier if the chapters were shorter.

Story picks up a little when Josie gets rescued by what she deemed “the snow monster,” but it still keeps at its slow pace. Ultimately, she sees the heart beneath his cold exterior. This would’ve been better if the story had moved faster. I wish the author would’ve simplified the sentence structure more and tried not to sound so fancy with the words.

Like I said, this was your typical holiday romance, but it just would’ve been better with a shorter and faster pace. Overall, it was a fairly nice read.

The story was good though slow in some parts. The characters were likeable and the dialog was entertaining. However, there were missing words in sentences that pulled me out of the story as I tried to figure out what the author was saying. There were inconsistencies such as the couple making love and then her brothers seemed to be in the same room talking to her and then the couple were at it again. Were the brothers there or not? I hope not. In the final chapters, there were many guests at the house for a Christmas dinner/celebration and they all left twice. The mother was sleeping when the MC proposed to the FMC and then she was was toasting the couple. The book would benefit greatly from an editor.

Thank you so much to Book Sirens and the author for this ARC holiday read!

The cover was giving 🥰✨ so I was buzzing to get stuck in to this classic forced-proximity story with the sunshine x grumpy characters and feel all festive! 🎄

Unfortunately, I don’t really do fantasy and although the mystical, magical element of this is central to the story, the paranormal/fated mate vibes were too much for me 🙈

The festive mentions of all this Christmas were cosy, and atmospheric, so it delivered on the holiday romance vibes 🥰

I’m aware that I’m the problem here! 🙈 So if you love Christmas-themed love stories with a wee bit of supernatural mixed in, this would be a solid pick! but if, like me, supernatural / paranormal isn’t your jam, you might find it a bit too different to enjoy

What you’ll get:
Shifter romance
Grumpy x sunshine
Forced proximity
Fated mates

Stranded on the mountain, fter an adventure with her family goes wrong, Josie is saved by Weylan.
Josie is a ray of sunshine, charming the world.
Weylan, the grumpy ‘Guardian of the Peak’ is a yeti shifter, alone in the world, and he prefers it that way.

This was a cute and cozy read, with a little banter, a grumpy Yeti MMC and a FMC who won’t stop until she infects him with Christmas spirit.
The chapter titles paired with songs… liked it.
And honestly, a Yeti romance? I was very interested.
The story of how he came to be was in interesting premise, and overall the book was very enjoyable.

During a brutal cold winter storm, Josie has a hard time venturing thru the snow. She meets Waylan, who lets her stay with him for protection and warmth. Weylan was hesitant to open up to Josie, but she had determination to find her way into his heart. It took awhile, but his hesitancy was overcome by trust and feeling safe. Soon there was plenty of heat roaring like a fireplace in their hearts and bodies. The mountains and storm ignite their fire slowly and certainly. I like this from book; “There is no urgency, no desperation. Just the slow deliberate rhythm of two people learning what it means to grow again. And Christmas is not just a day or a season; it’s a whole state of mind- healing, hope, and love.”

Kissed on Christmas* by Reina Everhart is pure holiday magic — cozy, romantic, and just the right touch of fantasy. Josie’s sunshine charm and Weylan’s grumpy, mysterious edge make for an irresistible grump-meets-sunshine love story, set against a snow-covered mountain straight out of a winter dream.

The shifter twist adds warmth and wonder without overshadowing the romance. Everhart’s writing sparkles with humor, tenderness, and that special Christmas-movie feeling that leaves you smiling by the last page.

A perfect holiday escape for readers who love snowstorms, slow-burn chemistry, and a little magic with their mistletoe.

The fourth story in the Fated for the Holiday series features Josephine (Josie) Miller and Weylan Frost. Josie is rescued by Weylan, a reclusive, widowed mountain hermit, during a blizzard. They develop a connection in his hidden cabin. Josie is unaware that Weylan is a Yeti shifter, the guardian of Magnolia Spring's winter wardline, tasked with protecting the mountains from storms. Josie's presence and warmth begin to restore his fading humanity. The story is well-written, with a strong plot, excellent characters, and a happy ending. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

For me, this book is all about the triumph of hope over despair, love over indifference, and joy over grief. Weylan is the quintessential Ebenezer Scrooge in the form of a furry beast, but he was once human. Only one person in the universe can make him human again. Only one person, who embodies the Spirit of Christmas, can tame the monster of the unforgiving mountain and free the lonely man inside. Only Josie, the town librarian. And once Weylan is free to love, the sparks begin to fly! Reina Everhart delivers a beautiful story that will take your breath away. Reading one of Reina's books only whets the appetite for more of her magic.

Two lonely people destined to be together.
Josie was deliriously happy about Christmas. She is the biggest lover of Christmas in town. But she’s also very lonely. Enter Waylen. He watches her from afar. Always keeping his distance. But some way, she knows he’s there. The way he saves her makes for a lovely romance. The push and pull between them is fun to read and then fun to swoon over. Oh, and the steamy scenes make that cabin explode in fire. I really enjoyed this story. Perfect to get you ready for the Christmas season ahead.
