A Spicy Time-Travel Romance

The author was new to me, and I chose this book because I was intrigued by the blurb – an involuntary journey through time by two opposite characters, Emma and Richard, who end up in the Regency era and encounter Jane Austen, who is suffering from writer's block and uses the two as inspiration for her new novel, interfering in their budding relationship like her title character Emma… - and I wasn’t disappointed.

The plot is interesting and well written, and is told from three points of view (including Jane Austen). In addition to opposites attract, it also features instalove and close/forced proximity tropes. The story is full of emotions, interesting tidbits, humor, twists and spice, and features likable characters.

Overall, an entertaining time-travel romance novel, which I gladly recommend to those who want to try a different kind of historical romance, or who are fans of Jane Austen or time travel romance novels.

Time travel at it's best. Well written, full of drama, love, society, suspense, family, friends and mystery. Emma and her group are on the way to the Jane Austin- Chawton Cottage to help be live actors there. Dressed in the customs of the day, Emma was hating it. She hates wearing dresses ans was not an early morning person. Richard is with his twin sister, Jane, named after the author Jane Austin. They both are there and for the single instant they look at each other's eyes and a special bond forms. At lunch time, Emma is hot and hungry, not feeling well she faints, Richard tries to help her and they both wake up to the past. They are unsure of how or why it happened but make the best of it. They meet both Jane , her sister Cassandra, and brother Edward. Jane and Cassandra try to help but both use Emma and Richard to write Jane's next story- Emma. Curl up and enjoy this story. Great storytelling. Fantastic characters. Would recommend to everyone.

I went into this one not knowing what to expect. I’ve never read a Regency time-travel romance before, and historical fiction isn’t usually my go-to. But wow… I was hooked so fast!

This story pulled me in from the very first chapters. The time-travel element was fun and easy to follow, and the romance was so sweet, gentle, and beautifully done. I loved watching the characters fall in love at first sight. ❤️

The writing was engaging, the chemistry was lovely, and the whole book had this soft, comforting vibe that made it impossible to put down. I’m so glad I gave this genre a try, because The Austin Anomaly completely surprised me in the best way.

A delightful, steamy, time-slipping love story I thoroughly enjoyed.

If you approach this book without overanalysing details, you'll find it's an engaging and enjoyable story that stands well on its own.

What I found most striking were the ways Richard and Emma adapted to life with Jane Austen and her friends. Their amusing, poignant, and passionate experiences form the heart of this entertaining read.

I very much liked reading about Jane's life, including how unwell she was, and how Richard, as a modern doctor, was frustrated that he couldn't help her.

The ending of the book included a modern-day epilogue, plus one from Jane Austen's time and perspective, which I found very clever and a perfect way to end the book.

What drew me to this book was time travelling, regency and Jane Austen. Three big ticks from me.

And this book didn’t disappoint. Told from the point of view of three characters; Emma, Richard and Jane Austen the different perspectives moved the plot along smartly. I particularly enjoyed how the author rounded out Jane and made her almost waspish at times but then when you read her pov it isn’t meant nastily. She is not the passive observer that we are sometimes given.
The smut is there at the appropriate moment and fits with the plot, not just for smut’s sake.
Thank you NetGalley and Audra Hershey for the ARC.

Had potential, but came out a bit lame

Not for me. I read it to the end, but unfortunately it was way too stilted as if actually written by someone from the regency era!
Pity as the story had potential.

I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription. I have to pay for the subscription, but the books are free.
