A runaway bride. A cold wolf guard who kept me alive. Until I discovered he was the prince sent to hunt me—my fated mate.
Astra They called me disposable. Forced me into a mating I never wanted. So I ran—straight into the arms of a cold wolf guard.
Silent. Dangerous. Untouchable. He saved me. Protected me. Stayed far too close. And when blood spilled, his wolf snapped.
That’s when I learned the truth. He isn’t my protector. He’s the deadly prince sent to hunt me. And worse… he’s my fated mate.
Lucian Love was never mine to want. My life was duty—a throne, a political marriage, a kingdom waiting to chain me.
Then I was sent to hunt down her. Small. Stubborn. Reckless. She should’ve been forgettable. Instead, she made me fall.
Now nothing else matters. Not the crown. Not the council. Not the enemies waiting. She’s mine. And I’d burn the kingdom to ash before anyone else touches her.

Jaymin Snow was born and raised in a small town in Villa Park where she was homeschooled through high school. She writes paranormal and fantasy romance stories full of feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes. She has a husband, three young daughters, and a lovely dog.
There’s parts that I really like, the safe angst, the slow burn, the grumpiness but the world building left much to be desire, some parts dragged a bit and how the MMC let the FMC to go to the OM and MMC is betrothed for political reasons. It’s still safe but annoying. Oh I forgot, I honestly thought the MMC was going to have to kill his father because from the MMC pov he’s not very likeable but from the FMC pov the king turned out to be hilarious and kinda sweet.

This is probably my favorite book that this author has written. (Possible spoilers ahead) This book was long, but I never felt the need to skip ahead because I was bored.
I liked both MCs and I thought they had great chemistry.
h was abused by her pack. Her wolf never appeared. She spent her days gathering herbs for the nasty pack who treated her terrible. She does have 2 BFFs and she has a cat. 🐈⬛ Due to some royal decree, the strongest female in her pack has to mate with a rival pack. The alpha (I’m calling him Arsehole alpha)HATES h and he doesn’t want to put up his own precious daughter, Harper- so he claims h is the strongest. Her BFFs help her escape to go live in human town. She has a male human friend (OM)who says he wants to marry her.
H is the prince. His dad forces him to go track down the girl (h) who ran away. H is kind of engaged to OW (who is insane🤪)
H follows h for a few days, watching her. He finally shows himself when he protects her. She doesn’t know who he really is. They develop a friendship. He feels a strong connection to her and doesn’t know why (ummm fated mates 😂) When they reach the human town, he says some untrue things to her, and decides to let her be free with OM. Well, OM turns out to be awful. *shocker* H makes it in time to rescue her. She’s dying, and he marks her since that’s the only way to save her. She doesn’t know. (Her knowledge of shifter stuff is very limited)
H and h have smex about 55% in. I’d say about 60% of this book is them traveling, but it does establish their relationship.
OW finds out H has been traveling with h, so she has h kidnapped. OW brings her before the throne room, and has her whipped, then sentenced to death. H arrives in time and yells “SHE IS MY FATED MATE” and he’s basically all “I’ll burn this place to ashes for her” Yessss 😂 h is absolutely shocked to find out he’s her mate and he’s a prince. This doesn’t cause a 3rd act breakup. H and h actually grow closer.
Finally, you start to get the true backstory. h’s mom mated with a wiped-out, strong, magical, wolf bloodline. Arsehole alpha got mad and took h’s mom prisoner. He spent years raping her and pimping her out. Harper is h’s half sister. Arsehole alpha had the whole pack take part in killing h’s mom, even the kids….and made h watch.
Now it seems everybody wants h’s magical wolf for one reason or another. 🙃
Naturally, h gets her magical wolf in time to save everybody. H is badly wounded, but h marks him and he’s saved.
The reason I deducted a star is because this story needed more epilogue. This book was way too long and had so much plot that it needed a conclusion to some of this. I was left feeling unsatisfied when I finished. It left so many things unanswered. Yes, it does an HEA.
A great example of never judge a book by its cover or title. A well written, developed, and complex shifter story. Was it riddled with the common tropes you can expect in these books? Of course. But the characters were multidimensional, the plot was engaging, the world immersive, and the romance was full of authentic chemistry and eventual spice.
What worked: Astra. I loved her honestly. Kind despite being mistreated and ostracized. Quirky and awkward but endearing. Smart but not arrogant. The first part of the book was a delicious grumpy/sunshine dynamic with hilarious banter and Astra was the star. Lucian couldn’t help but be drawn to her and her sweet shy quirky ways. She pushed him but in a way that forced him to grow, to question what he wants, who he is. After being betrayed by Andrew, she withdrew into herself, and it was like a completely different character showed up. Her eventual growth back into herself never fully materialized, though she did open up more as time went on. Still, I feel like we lost that quirky sunshine girl from the first third of the book.
The plot was engaging and complex. The writing was well done and well edited. I couldn’t stop reading. I mean… literally couldn’t put the book down.
What didn’t quite work for me?
I have mixed feelings about Lucian. He started off one way, then deeply hurt Astra’s feelings, realized she was his fated mate, their grumpy/sunshine dynamic flipped (which was sweet and fun), but then the last third he distances himself. It was like the MMC we met on their journey was completely different from who he was once at the palace. I felt for Astra, the whiplash from his hot and cold slightly jarring. I also found him a bit hypocritical and manipulative. He does quite a few things requiring some sort of apology and never once gives her one. He owns mistakes I suppose, and his internal dialogue does show remorse for actions or secrets kept, but he doesn’t quite express that to Astra. He blames others at times when he is also at fault. And he subtly manipulates her the entire time. He decides what she knows, when she knows it, and how, even when it directly impacts her. He doesn’t treat her like his partner, and doesn’t trust her with difficult truths. And that bothers me.
Still, he was broody and sexy and dominant and the spice was 🔥.
I want to read the next books as I really enjoy the writing. I wish the cover was more original and the title better reflected the story.

Chased by My Grumpy Alpha begins the Fierce Alpha series as Astra runs from an arranged mating and Lucian is charged with hunting her down, only to realize that the runaway forced bride is his mate. And… there’s that small detail of being the prince, the son of the man who arranged that forced mating, sent her on the run, and is expected to teach her a lesson she won’t soon forget, all of which he’s keeping hidden from her. Yeah, just small, unimportant details. *cough*
Astra’s and Lucian’s story is full of betrayal, lies, drama, and determination. Once Lucian realizes what Astra is to him, well, the forest could burn down around him before he’ll allow anyone to harm his mate. Their journey to get to that happy ending is full of speed bumps and roadblocks… but what a ride it is to get there eventually.
This first story in the new Fierce Alpha series easily captured my imagination. Astra is stronger than she or anyone else ever thought her to be. Lucian is devoted to her, even though there is that pesky detail of who he actually is hanging over them. As a couple, they simply work. Chased by My Grumpy Alpha by Jaymin Snow was an intense introduction to the series. It’s well-written, emotional, and passionate. I’m looking forward to returning to this world as the series continues.

If you think Chased by My Grumpy Alpha is just another broody-wolf-meets-innocent-girl romance, think again. Jaymin Snow opens this new series by tossing the reader headfirst into a den of political scheming, ancient secrets, and alphas who wield power like a weapon—usually against those least able to fight back. Subtle? Not remotely. Effective? Absolutely.
At the heart of it all is Astra, a heroine who could have easily been written as fragile and forgettable—but instead shines with stubborn optimism and quiet strength. Even at her lowest, she radiates resilience, the kind that makes you root for her long before you realize how deeply invested you’ve become. She is sunshine with teeth, and honestly, we love to see it.
And then, Lucian, the royal wolf prince and certified grumpy alpha. He’s layered in secrets, contradictions, and enough emotional baggage to require its own carry-on. Their connection is anything but smooth: it’s messy, intense, and laced with betrayal, lies, and drama so rich it could sustain an entire dynasty (which, conveniently, it does). Passion simmers, devotion runs deep, and nothing comes easy—exactly as it should be.
Dark, emotional, and unapologetically intense, Chased by My Grumpy Alpha lays the groundwork for a universe bursting with possibilities. By the final page, you’re not just hooked—you’re already scanning the horizon for the next victim of this deliciously cutthroat world. Because trust me: once Jaymin Snow sinks her teeth in, she’s clearly not done yet.
I loved this story and haven't been able to put it down, a good start to a new series. Well-written story full of action, humor, fated mates, chemistry, love, romance and discovery, with plenty of twists and character development.
Astra's always been the outcast, with no wolf of her own. When the wolf king requested the strongest pack female to be sent to him, she's sent as a substitute, in the place of the alpha's daughter. With the help of friends she escapes but is caught by a hunter.
Prince Lucian had been sent to find the missing wolf but when he catches her he realises she's also his fated mate. He'll do everything to protect and claim her; but he also realises she's a lot stronger than her pack think she is.

Clever and entertaining, this mf, wolf shifter adventure surprised me. Well written and edited. Astra has been treated terribly by her wolf pack throughout her short life. When threatened with an arranged marriage she escapes the pack by trying to reach a human settlement. She is recovered/ rescued by a male shifter who hides his royal identity from her as they walk across the forest. They gradually fall in love much to both their surprise. I was glad to see other related standalones follow so I can continue seeing how they develop.
First book in a new series and it couldn't have started out better. A story with angst, betrayal, pack corruption and deceit, hidden alliances, and a found love that overcomes insecurity and heartbreak to blossom and hold strong. I love how Astra finds her inner strength and grows into her wolf. And I love how Lucian supports her with quiet determination. All the wolves who wronged Astra receive the best karma. Definitely looking forward to the next book.
A scene from this book came up on my facebook and well, I had to know what happened. If you love hidden identity, hurt FMC, secret pasts, shifter romances, then this is for you!! Its a standalone with additional standalones, so its great when you just need to fly through a book without being stressed about a cliff hanger and don't have time for a series.
The heroine is seriously as dumb as a box of rocks, the hero never does learn to communicate or treat her like an adult, and I had to skip 20+ pages at a time just to get through the book. There were a couple of good moments, but the whole thing reads like it was written by an angsty teenager.
All 3 stars are for the MMC. MFC 🙄 Stuff that happened that really had me about to throw something. spoilerish.....
Why open the door Why open the door (Literally happened 2 separate times) Why go with someone you don't know She was annoying unbearable so a times Story was interesting felt a little drawn out though When she was happy he was grumpy and when she was grumpy he was happy.
The bad guys are truly horrible and almost nothing happens to them. The prince is also a complete idiot. He knows the bad that is coming and lets it happen.
This story was exciting, entertaining and just WOW!!. So much destruction of children's life for the sake of one heartless monster!!. But it All came out good!!. Jaymin is a PHENOMENAL storyteller and writer!!.
I'm super angry that the prince didn't kill the advisor and the daughter. All of their servants and guards were killed, but the actual people that planned and enacted her capture and torture just walked away? The "mad wolf" should have gotten his revenge immediately.
I absolutely love these books each is better than the last. How is that possible?? I dk but she is one great writer. Touches ur heart a little the way it's written. I love these books!
I loved this book! It was a great story, right up to the end of the book. The main characters were well developed and the story remained interesting up to the very end.
Astra is on the run and Lucian is tasked with bringing her back to face justice. However, complications arise as fate has a way of correcting what's been wronged. It was one hell of a read that I could not put down. This story was exciting and full of surprises. It was definitely an entertaining book.

If you enjoy dark twisted shifter stories then you will adore this one! It's well written. The story twists and comes together in ways you'll never expect. There's a lot of shock and betrayal.
For me, it was ok. It was darker than what I was in the mood for. I did not take any stars away because it's written so well.
I recommend this for those who enjoy dark pnr.

4.5 STARS!!! Don’t let the title fool you because it belies the gravitas of the novel and character arc of the FMC, Astra. This novel is a story of someone finally finding value in their self after a lifetime of being beaten down and being treated as worthless. This is a story about finally understanding that true power is in finding the value of self. Jaymin Snow does a great job in crafting the character of Astra – a character who has to claw her way out of self-doubt in order to find value and eventually save herself. The overly protective and possessive Lucian is a great counterpoint to Astra as they find their way to each other. The banter, the slow burn, and eventually, the spice makes reading this novel an enjoyable experience.
