Hello, hello, my girly girls!
This is my last review of the year, and you can’t imagine how excited I am to bring it to you. I know I’ve taken a little longer than I should have, but with it being such a festive month, I finally managed to find the time for this gem. It was definitely worth the wait, and I can tell you that I couldn’t put it down at any point. It keeps you hooked from start to finish.
The characters are polar opposites seeking the same goal: love and acceptance. Our FMC is running away from her past. The veil that blinded her from the cruel reality she lived in every day is one day lifted. Now seeing the truth of her reality, she decides to leave in order to find herself, but what she doesn’t know is that someone is watching her, very closely... Our MMC. He’s a character of gray morality, and is an unusual hero with a taste for protecting his childhood love, even if it means using unorthodox methods. You could call it obsession, but you could also compare it to boundless protection, and of course that’s up to you as the reader to decide for yourself. I personally found it endearing and delightful.
This has been a story that, despite having dark themes, has a deeper meaning, showcasing a real life truth. It shows us that we can see another side of our darkness if we try. That side where we struggle to move forward and find ourselves, but we try anyway. I know that sometimes certain situations can seem very dark or overwhelming, but there will be something inside you that says, “The time has come to better ourselves and want better for ourselves.” Can it take time? Of course, but who says that everything good comes easy?
📍Do I recommend it?
Absolutely, yes, although I want to clarify that this is for my girls who are already into the darker side of dark romance.
These characters have left a strong mark on me, becoming some of my favorites. I was certainly surprised by the author’s way of telling a dark and heartbreaking story (in one scene in particular), giving the character the opportunity to grow and move forward despite the situations she found herself in. And of course, we can’t leave out our MMC. I’m sure you’ll love him as much as I did. Because, let’s be honest, we love morally gray characters, especially when they are obsessed with our FMC and will give everything for our girl... Touch her and dïe, right?😏
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s something I don’t like to overlook: please read the warnings before you start reading something. This is not a light book; certain topics may be sensitive for some readers, and it’s better to know what you’re getting into and be sure that it’s the right read for you.
So without further ado, if you’re looking for a dark romance, with a smoking hot masked man who will haunt you and make you scream for more, and an FMC willing to give her all, this is the book for you!
