What a fitting conclusion to this heartfelt and hilarious hockey romance series!

Now getting into the actual review 😮‍💨...here's a lovely quote to set the mood:

"I didn't want other girls. I wanted the girl that pissed me off. The girl who called me on my shit. The girl who laughed or threw a middle finger up when I called her on hers. I wanted the girl who was fiery and determined. The girl who took up so much space in my head, even when she wasn't around, it was a miracle I could think of anything else."

⭐️ Soooooooooo.....5 stars? Yes, very much 5 star material here. I would like to take it a step further and say that the entire series is a 5 star series. ⭐️

Honestly, the romance was cute, it really was. But it felt more like a bonus to all the other stuff that was going on. Not that this is a bad thing, in fact I think it worked rather amazingly for this book. I liked how a lot of the focus and page time was dedicated to Parker and Kenzie's hockey training and all that comes with it. There was a coming of age vibe to this book which obviously endeared it even more in my eyes.

While I felt that some of the romance was sidelined for more of the ins and outs of the hockey world, the romance that was there was absolutely delightful. First, Parker and Kenzie were actually enemies. Wow, enemies to lovers where they're actually enemies?? Who would have thought? Anyway the romance is great, the tension was great and their chemistry practically drips off the page. I was eating up every second of them. The banter was also pretty great. And that's saying a lot coming from someone who loves to cringe and make fun of "flirty banter" that's really just bullying or bad jokes wrapped in the label of "banter." So that was refreshing and I thank you Alexandra Moody!

Overall this was a banging 5 star read and this entire series is something that I would definitely be interested in rereading and time or two.

I loved this book so much and I honestly didnt think that I would which breaks my heart because I loved the rest of the series but I did end up coming around at the 2nd half of the book. I loved all of the representation we got with the women in hockey because I do think that women in sports isn’t talked about enough but its rare to see a female playing hockey in a mens league it almost never happens and I loved the fact that she was a goalie. The only thing I had a love hate relationship with is the fact that Parker was essentially told to back off from protecting her (Mind you this is the same girl that punched him in about the second chapter so she was more than capable of protecting herself) but generally most players are protective of their goalie but I loved that Parker was trying to protect her even though she did not need it in the SLIGHTEST. I also loved the cameos we got in this book (Grayson my baby ilysm) but it was just good to be back in Ransom. I do totally recommend this series because I am extremely picky with my hockey romances and I love this series. Side note: Parker calling Mackenzie different names reminded me of Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams and how Annie is always trying to guess Will’s name.

🏒𝒫𝒶𝓇𝓀ℯ𝓇 😈
I didnt LOVE Parker in his brothers books because he was very playboy ish to me and I just generally don’t like that hockey players are perceived that way (although some are) I loved that we got to see him actually falling in love instead of going from girl to girl. I also loved that we got to see his art and how he was reluctant to share his art with Mackenzie. Also HE LIKES MARIAH CAREY?!? I loved the part where he was singing obsessed( looking back this would have been a better song choice but I thought that into you would have been a better choice because of their history together) I also loved that we saw a more emotional side of Parker without his brothers and the expectations that were put on him to play as the lone Darling Devil and live up to the name but I also loved how she wrote the team bonding scenes. But I liked Parker in his own book way more than his brothers.

🎧𝓜𝓪𝓬𝓴𝓮𝓷𝔃𝓲𝓮🥅
I loved Mackenzie so much, she reminded me of my best friend because she had such a bold personality but also very gentle once you got to know her. I loved that was able to get past her overprotective dad and play the game (although once I understood her dad’s reasoning for being that way I understood a little bit more) I do think her dad was being fair about the rules for parker considering Mackenzie’s history with him. I loved that her and Parker bonded over art and hockey because in truth sports (especially hockey) can help you find the one you love. I have had it happen to me twice (platonically and romantically) but regardless I loved the way that their chemistry was written especially as an enemies to lovers plot line.

(I NEED CAMMIES BOOK AND BASED OFF THIS BOOK I THINK ITS GOING TO BE BROTHERS BEST FRIEND OR HER FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER SKATING PARTNER IDK I JUST NEED IT NOW)

Grayson is still my favorite Darling Devil tho 😝

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5 stars)

i love Parker so much. he's sarcastic, chaotic, and really earns the title of "wild" Darling. but i loved his determination. the way he wanted to bring the team closer together. a also really liked how Parker never once doubted Mackenzie. he wanted her on the team because he knew she was good enough and deserved that sport just as much as any of the guys.

going into this, i thought i wouldn't like Mackenzie but i ended up really liking her. she was relatable, strong and really matched Parker's attitude. they knew how to hand each other's personalities and they just worked well together.

i liked how their relationship when from "i hate you" to "i don't mind you, but i still have to hate you" to "i wish i hated you, but i actually love you."

there were also some good quotes in this book. one of my favourite was Parker's analogy about music:

"Have you ever hated a song the first time you heard it? And then the more it comes on the radio, the more it drives you insane? But then after a while, you start humming it everywhere you go. You know all the words. It's on all your playlists. And somehow, despite everything you thought before, it becomes your favourite song?"
"Mackenzie is my song."

now, an explanation of why it wasn't 5 stars. as much as i loved this book, it just didn't have the 5 star kick. the ending felt rushes and cut short. i would have loved to see more of parker and mackenzie together after everything they went through. the pacing toward the end was too fast for my liking.

still, this was a really enjoyable read. it was light and a good clean enemies to lovers romance. i hope we get a book about Cammie, the youngest Darling, because i love her. (grumpy darling will forever by my favourite)

I really loved Parker though out this whole book and its a perfect light read. parkers character development was done really well. however I felt like the ending was really abrupt and unfinished, I would of loved to see more of parker and Kenzie. I also feel like Kenzie's conflict with her dad wasn't portrayed well. I feel like if your not talking to your father for weeks it would have a much larger affect on you than shown in the book, it was mentioned a few times but it just felt bushed over. overall I think is a good book but I'm going to have to stick with the second one in the series being my favourite.

Overall Plot: 3 ⭐️
Spice: 1 🌶️

📖The Book Itself:📚

✰ So I really didn’t like the part where Kenzie stole Parkers clothes bc that is so immature and why would you do that? Now he’s naked and running around the ice rink. *tisk tisk* oh well. (I’ve just realised how often I say that in book reviews I really need to chill.) But the, like, coming together of feelings (??? I’m sorry. I know that's bad but words have currently left me on how to describe it.) made it better or it would have originally been like a two star read but the kiss and the resolution of feelings (?) made it somewhat better for me. Grumpy Darling was still by far my favorite but this one was pretty good too.

❆🍂The Setting:🌸🌞

✰ I loved the ice rink mainly because I want to try ice skating but I can’t seem to remember where the state was that this took place in. Mind you I am writing this book a month after I read it and I have read many books since then so my mind isn’t coming straight off reading this, it’s coming off of other books so it’s 100% probable that I forgot. Or I may have missed it bc i’m a pretty fast reader. I also loved the hockey aspect of it but I don’t really love hockey in real life because of how much of a contact sport it is. I don’t want anyone to get hurt but it’s fiction so it’s fine.

🙋‍♂️The Characters:🙋‍♀️

🏒Parker🥅
✰ He’s okay he seems like a huge player just by how he talks. I’m sure he wouldn’t cheat on Kenzie or even think about another girl because his family would kill him but he still acts like a player. He’s a bit immature but I guess I understand feeling like you don’t belong because of how good your brothers play your sport. I mean a little. My brother doesn’t play my sport but it’s a bit relatable.

🥅Kenzie🏒
✰ She is a little immature too bc of that prank she pulled on him with the stealing his clothes and forcing him to run around naked in the ice rink. Like what did you expect to happen girl? (He didn’t have to pull off the towel in front of her though that was dumb too) Also I don’t understand their rivalry that much bc wdym they hate each other just from one kiss years ago and your dad being over protective.

🏒Mr. Foster🏒
✰ ever since he lost his wife he was too strick on Kenzie about hockey and he really could use some anger management classes. It would help a lot. He is dealing with his grief though so I can’t harp on him too much.

🌶️Spice and Language put into one section because I’m tired (🥱): 🗣️
✰ Kissing/ Making out. Can’t remember any f-words but there were some of the milder cuss words used. It’s not too much but it is definitely there.

👏That’s all of my review! Thanks for reading! (sorry i ran out of emojis that’s why i used the same ones a bunch of times. There are not many hockey options for me to choose from.) 💜

Okay... genuinely what happened? I absolutely love The Darling Devil series, but this disappointed me.
Starting off strong, what happened to Parker? I mean, sure, he was supposed to be wild and crazy and silly, but now he just comes across as immature, selfish, and kind of entitled. Plus, cocky characters never did it for me. Secondly, why are there so many nude things, and suggestive content? Sure, it's not spicy, but I don't like how we have to include these things in a YA book, keep in mind, for teenagers. And sure, teenagers typically like those things, but I don't, and I know so many other people don't as well.
I felt no chemistry between either Parker or Kenzie, and I honestly can't stand either of them for holding onto a grudge for something that happened, four. years. ago. Like cmon, grow up. The tension and hatred was for basically nothing, and it didn't make sense.
Also, what happened with Alexandra Moody's writing? This book didn't read, or sound, like Rival Darling or even Grumpy Darling. It was confusing, and the writing felt stiff.
The only thing I did like about this book was Kenzie. Because at least she was cool ish. It sucks because I had high hopes, and was once again let down.

I love Parker and Mackenzie so much💞

This book really showed that women can do the boy stuff, too, and how strong females truly are! And sexism at its finest, lol.

I love this series! So cute🥰

It’s been a while since I’ve finished a book in a day. I really enjoyed this. I missed a good enemies to lovers, even though the characters weren’t my favorite at first. The romance was amazing, the tension, the flirting, the actual plot in general. Having a girl join a boys hockey team, I thought it was incredible. I think she deserved it too after all she had to go through. I loved the team dynamic too. In the other two books we had team moments but with Kenzie joining the team we got a lot of team bonding and it was all really sweet. I loved the friendship bracelets.

Kenzie - I actually really liked Kenzie. I think she had amazing character growth and I loved her story. I think she was a little bit rude in the beginning (but I don’t blame her). Especially her relationship with her dad, I think she went through a lot and it was just amazing to read her story.

Parker - okay I thought his flirting was cute and funny. I liked him in Rival Darling (not as much in Grumpy Darling). I think what frustrated me the most was his attitude about things and his player characteristics. Honestly, I do not like when the MMC is a player. It took me a while to stopping rolling my eyes at things he would say. Again, I think he was funny sometimes. But his ego was a little annoying. And not his no romance, no commitment attitude just kinda grossed me out. HOWEVER, later on when he was truly falling for Kenzie I found it adorable. The bracelet he made for her and the way he stood up for her in the locker room. Absolutely adorable.

I’m kind of nervous for the final book coming out this year. I know it follows Cammie, so the books will shift from hockey and go to ice skating. I wonder how the dynamic will change. Also hoping for a lot of content from previous couples.

Alexandra’s writing is genuinely so laughable😄 I found myself also adding in words into some sentences to make them make more sense. It was like she didn’t quite get done with the editing part of it.
I also SWEAR on my life, that Alexandra just loves to wright the most toe curling, booty clenching, most embarrassing scenes like it happens all the time🤨
Like PUHlease tell me, on my first day of school, at a new school I’m gonna get drowned by a MASSIVE puddle. Guess I’ll just have to wear the lost and found clothes from the school MY BUTT. I ain’t doin that😘
I am also not going to steal his clothes out of the boys locker room, so he now has to walk around naked. Now he turns it on you and goes “i guess you always did want to see me naked huh😏” GET ME OUT OF HERE-

I also swear that Parker was so much more younger brother like in the first two books🤨 okay like I know that reed and Grayson went to college BUT ITS LIKE MY BROTHA. He just seemed so serious in a way that just made him seem like he wasn’t even the same character. I DONT KNOW GUYS

I did genuinely just read this to have a good laugh. Because WHAT. This crap that’s happening to them just isn’t even real.
I know that Makenzie wasn’t really THAT pick me about the whole “playing on the boys team” thing, BUT the “enemies to lovers” concept in this book was INSANE. Parker didn’t even hate her AT ALL and Makenzie “hating” him was so, I CANT EVEN. Yeah she hates you because she “glares in your direction, but can’t seem to stay away from you - okay buddy✌️

I was here for Seth and coach Fosters lore🫶

Honestly I’ll just keep reading her books just to laugh at them, which is so mean I realize that, i genuinely don’t care🩷

Mkay it was better than the last book, not as good as the first book🤗
