I hate the way he watches me.
Like he’s waiting for me to crack.
Like every small move I make is under a microscope.

Leo Duvalier is my stepbrother.
Technically family. Functionally a nightmare.
Family dinner is new.
Mom finally happy. Real food instead of instant noodles. I’m a broke law student with six figures of debt and one shot at a future. I cannot afford drama.

But Leo doesn’t look at me like a sister.
He looks at me like I’m the only thing on the menu.
He’s the son of a billionaire ambassador and the quiet power behind Vigilant North. He lives in a world of black cards, private drivers, and men who do what he says without question. When someone decides the fastest way to hurt him is to take me, Leo makes one thing very

I’m not just his father’s new stepdaughter.
I’m his.

And he will not let me go.

He watches me. He tracks where I go and who I see. The more I fight for my independence, the more he wraps my messy, overworked, terrified life in layers of protection I never asked for—

but can’t pretend I don’t need.

Because someone out there keeps coming for me.
And the only thing standing between me and the people who want to use me as a bargaining chip is the man I’m not supposed to love.

Now I’m trying to finish law school, keep my mother’s new marriage from imploding, and figure out whether Leo Duvalier is my worst mistake…

or the safest place I’ve ever had.

This book hits if you're looking for a quick dark romance read without much plot or background information.

There were quite a few plot holes that left me wishing for more, I usually love a good forbidden stepbrother romance and this hit the nail on the head with that, but not with much else. If the author had fleshed out the story a bit more and written a better conclusion, I would have rated the book much higher. As it stands, I had too many questions at the end to feel fully satisfied.

I can count on one hand the amount of actual conversations the FMC & the MMC actually had together. No readable chemistry or connection. Story idea was good but written poorly unfortunately.

Ok I really wanted to like this book, but good gravy. ALL. THE.REPEATS!! This was like the author started writing & then went off to do something else & came back forgetting what they wrote! Over & over & over! Then there was the repeat of the word "economical." I nearly didn't finish. Kept thinking I lost my spot since I was sure I had just read that paragraph! Then there's what happened in Bermuda, how you not gonna tell your friends what happened?! This wasn't just some small minor thing that happened at the beginning. Some friends they are anyways. I get it walks for everyone's safety, but they didn't even put up a fight. Then it was just like they disappeared. Did the author forget them or did they forget her? What did her mom think happened to her? Does his dad know what he really does? Everyone was fine with the relationship, yet they had to keep it quiet?! What about when or if they want to get married? Kids? Just so many frustrating things, the typos are the least of this book's problems. Wouldn't not recommend. Pass by this. On to the next!

Sad, so much potential, if it had been a duet maybe. There were grammatical errors and reused words or phrases to describe things that made me wonder more than once if AI was involved in writing this. I’m not satisfied whatsoever with the ending; is she his hidden lover? Can they never get married? Ugh, sad.

When Alis mother marries she gains not only a new stepfather but a stepbrother too in Leo and hes trpubke! Totally obsessed with her, but shes off limits or she should be but can giving into temptation be her undoing? Well written engaging steamy desires taboo, and more

So not what you would expect

Brilliant story line with excellent characters. Plenty of plot twists and lots of adult content. Looking forward to the next book.
