Sobre o rio | Over/About the river

Entre 2018 e 2021, Isabela Prado realizou o projeto Sobre o rio: uma intervenção urbana permanente nas ruas da capital mineira.
Com o apoio da Lei Municipal de Incentivo à Cultura de Belo Horizonte, em colaboração com a Prefeitura da cidade, a artista inseriu aproximadamente 230 placas de esquina dentro do perímetro da Avenida do Contorno, indicando a presença de córregos canalizados que subterraneamente percorrem suas ruas: Leitão, Serra, Acaba-Mundo, Mendonça, Zoológico, Barro Preto e Afluente Serra, todos integrantes da Bacia do Ribeirão Arrudas.
Com colaborações de Alessandro Borsagli, Clarissa Diniz, Guilherme Wisnik, Josué Mattos, Michele Arroyo e Roberto Luís Monte-Mór, este livro reúne documentações e reflexões acerca do projeto, bem como lança luz em torno das pesquisas que Isabela Prado vem realizando desde 2006, as quais desaguaram em Sobre o rio.
Between 2018 and 2021, Isabela Prado carried out the Sobre o rio (Over/About the river) project: a permanent urban intervention in the streets of the capital of Minas Gerais.
With the support of the Belo Horizonte's Municipal Law of Incentive to Culture, in collaboration with the City Hall, the artist inserted approximately 230 corner signs within the perimeter of Contorno Avenue, indicating the presence of channeled streams that run underground through its streets: Leitão, Serra, Acaba-Mundo, Mendonça, Zoológico, Barro Preto, and Afluente Serra, all part of the Ribeirão Arrudas Basin.
With contributions by Alessandro Borsagli, Clarissa Diniz, Guilherme Wisnik, Josué Mattos, Michele Arroyo, and Roberto Luís Monte-Mór, this book brings together documentation and reflections about the project, and sheds light on the research that Isabela Prado has been carrying since 2006, which flowed into Sobre o rio (Over/About the river).
