Rate this book
Steven Stanley's classic textbook, now coauthored with John Luczaj, remains the only book for the historical geology course written from a truly integrated earth systems perspective. The thoroughly updated new edition includes important new coverage on mass extinctions, climate change, and Proterozoic history, plus a range of interactive studying and teaching tools.

Congratulations to Steven Stanley

WIL
1) pretty readable

2) for the beginning geologist/paleontologist!

3) PICTURES!

4) that chart at the beginning of each chapter with the timelines. Hoooooly moly. That's one of the best things ive ever seen. Why dont more modern paleontology books have that?? THATS WICKED COOL! IM OBSESSED.

WIDL
1) outdated- this is an old textbook now. It still uses words like "Quaternary" and "tertiary" and its findings are a bit behind the times.
