She’s the secret daughter of the queen. He's the man sworn to protect her. When duty collides with desire, which will they choose?
Scottie O’Shay has the perfect life as creative director for her family’s beloved men’s fashion brand, which she embraces with grit, style, and southern charm. But when a reporter’s exposé reveals shocking secrets, she discovers she’s not just Scottie O’Shay anymore. She’s the secret daughter of the Queen of Lauchtenland.
Eager to know the mother who gave her up, Scottie flies to Europe for a brief visit only to find herself entangled in animosity and palace intrigue. Then there’s Michael Cross—a devoted protection officer whose piercing eyes and quiet strength make her feel dangerously at home.
Michael has loved and lost before. He won’t risk his heart again—especially not for an American clothing heiress who’s determined to cling to her O’Shay family roots.
Yet when a late-night kiss in a hidden doorway melts duty into devotion, neither one can deny the affection growing between them. Together they’ll discover a legacy of secrets and forgiveness powerful enough to heal a fractured kingdom.
On the verge of truly falling in love, devastating news from home yanks Scottie from her personal fairy tale into reality. She faces an impossible choice—the safe ground of Tennessee or the uncharted waters of Lauchtenland where love and a royal crown await.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO WIN A CROWN! Anyone who knows me well, would know that I carry a book with me just about everywhere I go. I never know when I might get a few minutes or even longer to escape into another world. I’m sure there are writer's groups or writing coaches that would say no matter the genre, a book has to appeal to people and speak to them where they are. This week I had a chance to read a book by a favorite author prior to it being published. I stayed up too late last night and basically did nothing else for most of today to finish a book that had me laughing and crying in almost equal measures. Rachel Hauck has become a very special author to me the last few years. (I discovered her country of Lauchtenland when another favorite author, #SusanMayWarrenFiction borrowed it for her writing.) In “To Win A Crown”, Tennessee lass Scottie O’Shay, a successful businesswoman, has a life that seems well laid out to a future she wants and embraces. Although she had learned recently that she was secretly the daughter of a queen she didn’t think that would really change her life. She isn’t a titled princess and has no aspirations to be one. She has a small town life she loves with people surrounding her she loves. Her work in her father’s family’s company has brought her enough fame (a GC cover!) and good fortune that she can comfortably travel in larger circles nationally, and internationally. When circumstances quickly change, she’s off to Lauchtenland for a visit. What she discovers while visiting her mother’s side of the family not only changed the course of her life, but the lives of many others. At the core of everything though, she saw that the path she thought her life was on was not the only one open to her. As so many of us have found in life when we look back we see how we were being perfectly prepared for a new season ahead. Rachel Hauck has wonderfully developed characters who stay true throughout their stories. This is the final book in this series and it had the perfect blend of characters introduced in previous books and new ones. A new reader would not have to have read the previous ones, but I would recommend it. Rachel does put enough background in the book that a new reader would not be lost with characters whose stories were already told in other books. Thank you, Rachel, for the opportunity to read this wonderful book.
I have rarely read a book with a princess/royals but I ABSOLUTELY loved To Win A Crown, True Blue Royal #3. I didn't start with book one in the series, so I will be going back and reading from the beginning to truly get to know the Royal Blue family. I loved Scottie, she was such a spunky Southern gal who was born into a royal family she had no control over and didn't know about til a few years before. Unfortunately, she was hidden from her real mother while she lived in GA with her father, grandfather and grandmother. When Scottie is asking by her mother, the Queen of Lachtenland to come visit after a failed a relationship ended, she has no clue what is in store for her. She comes to Lachtenland to help care for her mother and help with royal duties but not be a princess. She is truly funny and so full of life. I felt really bad for her when she and ex boyfriend split but felt like she just might find herself in her mother's homeland. Michael, the Royal Highness Guard has the task of watching after and taking care of the Lady Royal, Scottie. This guy has been through it, he lost his fiance Purnell years ago to an illness and now he is determined to take care of Scottie and keep her safe. I cant wait to catch up with the rest of the series and more of this author's books. I actually read two books by Rachel Hauck in the same week.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
When Scottie, confident American businesswoman and the surprise daughter of Lauchtenland's queen, travels to her mother's castle, she is instantly immersed in both the beauty and the danger of royal life. Her protection officer, Michael, fights demons from his own past. And, in a lovely touch of symbolism, Emmanuel is there to see them through it all. To Win a Crown is a fun, romantic journey exploring themes of life's unexpected turns, and how they make us see what truly matters. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but features character cameos from the True Blue Royal Series Books 1 and 2.
Favorite quotes:
"When her hand clasped his, he forgot all about protocol or even where he was standing."
"Love’s an enduring gift.”
"Where had he come from? She tried to speak but the moment his gaze met hers, she was both captivated and free, seen and yet hidden."
Note-I was ecstatic to receive an early reader copy of the book from the author. A positive review was not required.
Scottie O'Shay has her life laid out for her. She will take over the family business. But when she is called to visit her ill mother, Queen Catherine of Lauchtenland she leaves with the promise she will return to Tennessee.
Scottie finds herself torn between her business world and the royal world. She didn't know she had royal blood until a few years before. She is awestruck with the beauty of royal life and the dangers it presents.
Michael Cross has been given the task of protecting the Lady Royal, Scottie. Romance blooms slowly but Rachel Hauck gives this fairy tale story wings. Characters are well written, giving them depth. As are the encounters with Emmanuel.
This is the third and final book of True Blue series. A faith filled story that I think it is the best one yet.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advanced e-copy of this book. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Rachel Hauck continues the House of Blue series with an amazing story of love, trust, forgiveness, and redemption. Scottie is the heroine we all want to be yet both relatable and admirable. I love that she isn’t perfect and grows and changes as the story goes on. Each character plays a pivotal role in that change. She brings back a lot of our favorites from the earlier series that we know and love. I highly recommend this book for those who love royal romances and even those that don’t as there are many valuable lessons learned about life in this story. This slow burn romance is hard to put down. Thank you again, Rachel, you never disappoint!
This is the third and final book in Hauck’s True Blue Royal series. The second book came out 5 years ago, so I went back and re-read To Save a King because I’d forgotten a lot of the fine details. If you haven’t read any of the books, do go back and start with the first one, To Love a Prince.
This is a very satisfying read - great characters, plot twists of all types, swoony kisses, intriguing encounters with Emmanuel, and much more. Themes of forgiveness, healing, reconciliation, and hope lead to a very redemptive story.
I really enjoyed this book so much! Scottie O’Shay (we’ve heard that name before if you read the first book) goes to Lauchtenland to visit her mom, Queen Catherine, who has GBS (Guilin-Barré Syndrome). There, she meets Michael Cross, her “safety officer”. Through scuffles and kerfuffels, Michael is always protecting her, along with another Protector. There’s even a mystery, and surprises, and a faith thread, too! And of course, romance! So, so good! I was privileged to read an ARC from the author, but my review is my own true opinion.
“To Win a Crown” is like stepping into a real-life fairytale where the characters are flawed, yet so poised and elegant. Rachel Hauck has created characters that are so real and genuine. It feels like you’ve joined them for afternoon tea. The greatest character is Emmanuel, God with us. His presence and role serve to demonstrate eternal love, which is even greater than earthly romance. Hauck deserves much thanks for sharing this beautiful story with us. You won’t regret reading this book. Start reading today!
Once again Rachel doesn't disappoint. Definitely my favorite in the series. Scottie's story is touching, from being torn between two worlds, to discovering real love. Rachel brings the House of Blue full circle, with some unexpected surprises thrown in. An amazing and beautiful ending to a fabulous series. She is brilliant.
I really enjoyed this ending to the series—I think it was my favorite of the three siblings’ books. I always enjoy seeing how the author weaves in other characters from her other series into each of her books as well, kind of a fun Easter egg to see characters from her Brighton kingdom series pop up in this book.
