You can't outrun your past
If there is a lesson to take from this novella is that you cannot outrun your past or escape destiny. What happened to Kailyn was truly horrific. I felt for her. Her mother or grandmother should have told her about their bloodline and lineage and maybe she would have stood a better chance. But instead what happened to her was the equivalent of being thrown into shark infested waters and eaten alive.
