Urban fantasy is one of my favorite genres to read. I love the brave, intelligent women whom take on all manner of paranormal or supernatural forces. In this new book by this author; a witch from a powerful family is in charge of breaking curses. She is hired out to find what might be behind a cursed object and break the curse. Sometimes Riley gets hurt but for the most part she comes away unscathed. That is until this new case. She is hired to find out why an expensive jeweled egg is cursed. Riley thinks this is a way to find out info about her parents. Turns out this case involves much more. This author does an excellent job of writing scenes that inspire the imagination to look beyond the written word. There were so many scenes of magic, danger and the politics of the world of witchcraft. Riley begins to find out she has been kept out of the loop in regard to her place within the 13 family covens. As the story progresses, the reader finds out there is so much more to the story. An excellent start to a whole new world of magic and mayhem.

Romanov egg or portal to the Shadowlands?

After the death of her father and her mother disappeared, along with her older brother, Riley inherited both her parents’ house and their business, RIP Investigations, even though Riley does more in the line of breaking curses than investigating. At least she’s not alone, since she has a guardian, her “dog” Prince. After the black Romanov egg burned most of the mansion down, Riley has been hired to break the curse on the Romanov egg. All I can say about this story is I absolutely adored it. It’s emotional, it’s funny and it kept me reading way longer than I should have. While this is the first story I have read by Eden Crowne, it definitely will not be the last!

Love the characters in this story. To me it was a different type of story. A whole family is supposed to be involved, but it turns out not to be the case. Riley is loyal, protective, hardworking and desperate to keep the business going. But it seems like forces aren’t helping get the way they should. Thank goodness she has Vivi as a best friend and makes some new really good friends along the way on this adventure. If you like action, magic, sarcasm, exploding things and odd sidekicks you will love this story! I thought is was slow at first, but dy the end I couldn’t go to bed for wanting to see what happened next!

if you are looking for a thrilling, non-stop witch action/family mystery, you've found your next read.
it starts a little bit slower, but I promise the action gets faster as you move on with the story - you won't have to wait much!
my only issue with it is that is brings together a little too many motifs - family issues, a never-fully-developed love story, magic, and a lot of characters to stitch it all together...a little too much for me, but I do have to say that it makes the story never dull.
I fully recommend it.

What a great introduction to a new series.
I loved everything about this book. The concept was refreshing, not your normal run-of-the-mill take on witchcraft. The characters were well thought out and fleshed out. The world building was well executed, especially the description and the beings of Shadowland.
I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Cursed Objects first book in the series by Eden Crowne is a great start to a new series. The storyline flows nicely is very intriguing, worldbuilding is complex and characters I just loved them! The story sucked me in and I couldn't put this book down! Can't wait for more!
I love Eden Crowne's stories, she is extremely talented and needs to be known worldwide!!

Good start to the series. The plot was intriguing and unique. The world building was impressive and detailed. Plot was intriguing and exciting and very well thought out. All in all a very good read. Highly recommend.

Slow start, but got more interesting after the halfway point. One thing that was a distraction - it reads like the 2nd or 3rd in a series. Lots of stuff is mentioned as having taken place in the past. Maybe meant as backstory? But it made this book feel a bit incomplete.

Riley and her “dog” are hilarious ! I loved the story of the Romanov Egg, I just detest cliffhangers ( thus the 4⭐️ review instead of 5). The characters are fantastic and keep you guessing, the storyline is complex and has aspects of old world history as well her own family history.. I can’t wait for the next book in the series !! 4✨’s
